Honey Bourbon Glazed Baby Back Ribs (4) BBQ Brisket Empanadas (3)
Anna W.

Our favorite thing here was the honey bourbon ribs from the appetizer menu. I wish they did half or full racks of them! The empanadas and macaroni and cheese were really good, but I wasn't a fan of their fried green tomatoes. We both enjoyed the various sauces and would come back!

I was thankful they were open until 9 on Tuesday night. Not busy. I had a pulled pork plate with pit beans and Mac and cheese, with an IPA. The BBQ sauces were good with the pork. Decent selection of beers. The server was friendly and helpful. Comfortable atmosphere, with some music and TV's for sports games. There was no wifi offered - I had limited reception and that would have helped me. Hopefully I'll be back as I pass through the area again. As the server described each sauce, he lifted each one up by the spout with his bare fingers - I suggested that wasn't sanitary, so please point to tell about them. He seemed to accept the suggestion.

We visited Pigs on a stormy Saturday around midday and the place was about half full. The server was sweet. The food was good. The vibe was low key and nothing spectacular. Then again, who is expecting glamour at a bbq joint?!? Not me. The decor was cute and the place was very clean. I enjoyed the jalapeño sausage most as it had a crispy crunch skin on the outside, but juicy inside. Pigs is located a little outta the way, but worth it to go off the beaten path to get there. This my be a typical route for some, but I've never been back in this area. It's quiet and a nice drive. I would return.

I was looking to try something new yet simple and thought bbq on a Sunday evening would be perfect. This rustic yet modern restaurant offers take out, indoor and outdoor seating with a warm hospitable ambiance. I sat at the bar and was greeted by multiple employees giving me recommendations on food and drink options. I ordered the brisket tacos with a side of greens. I'm not sure the inspiration of the bbq but it TASTED Carolina influenced because it was vinegar based. The brisket tacos were flavor packed and perfectly portioned. The green were good however probably not cooked with meat being vegan friendly. Now the housemade sauces were great! They had a mustard, two bbq, a hot sauce, a honey and one more that I would definitely purchase My server, Danny had been with the company for years and had seen it grow from catering only to brick and mortar. He was extremely attentive and made great conversation throughout my meal I would recommend trying this spot for a lighter bbq fix

Fine dining BBQ, we'll almost. Good food, the BBQ is more of a Carolina style smoke. Beans and Mac&cheese were excellent! Definitely worth the stop.

From the parking lot to the inside, we never smelled any BBQ. In saying that, it was a very clean and modern country decor kinda place. The staff was welcoming and friendly. Was informed that the sweet tea was not made in house, so cokes and water to drink. Ordered the two meat (brisket & pork shoulder) plate with collard greens and macaroni and cheese. Very beautiful presentation. The meat was ok. Not a heavy smoke flavor to it. I'm not saying it wasn't smoked, just saying the meat didn't have that hours on a smoker taste that we associate with good BBQ. The greens were great and well seasoned. We found the macaroni and cheese bit bland. I think they were going for a jalapeño and cheddar cheese cornbread kinda deal. I would see a sparse of little green and orange specks in it. But never would taste it though. Maybe it was an off day when we stopped by. But you might like it.

Holy shit, my fellow bbq lovers, you guys have to try this place. We moved up to MD from the Carolinas and just accepted that maybe the bbq just isn't as good up here. PIGS blew us away. From the meats, to the sides, cornbread, cocktails, and even the pickles - we are impressed with the level of thought and flavor. We started with the crab deviled eggs and then tried the potato salad, Mac and cheese, collards, ribs, pulled pork, and sausage - can't say a single bad thing about any it. Jalapeño and mustard sauces were our favorites. Loved the honey bourbon lemonade and it's creative garnish. Craft beer list looked promising with some refreshing local selections. I'm glad we ventured out of downtown to check out this spot. A hidden Frederick gem for sure.

Wye Oak Tavern - Roseda Steak

Wye Oak Tavern

The main dining room is absolutely gorgeous with the stonework and architecture. The bar area was very busy as we were on the tail end of their happy hour. Our server walked us through the menu. We started with the ravioli appetizer. It had shaved truffles on top and egg yolk covered in Parmesan cheese. They almost had a little crunch to them and the inside was filled with ricotta cheese. The sides are à la carte as is most of the menu. I ordered the tavern burger. It came with beef fat glaze among other spreads and was very well seasoned. The side of beef fat fries were also well seasoned and crispy. The best dish was the pot roast. It was so tender and the gravy was so flavorful. This paired perfect with their creamy mashed potatoes. The service was decent but the food and atmosphere was absolutely amazing. They have a huge variety of cocktails and wine. It's a bit more formal Dining. It doesn't require a jacket or anything.

We received fantastic service from start to finish, from being seated right at our reservation time to our server answering our dietary needs questions to our dishes coming out in a timely and well-paced manner. Wye Oak's ambiance being set in a former church/religious institution is unique, providing an interesting ambiance. However, the food left much to be desired. While the presentation on every dish ranged from good to amazing, out of the seven dishes we shared only 1.5 of them were delicious. Some of the dishes were bland and one note; others were overcooked or overseasoned. We shared the following dishes: Coddies: While the cod was perfectly cooked and breaded, it had no flavor. The cauliflower tartar sauce added nothing to the dish; the cauliflower giardiniera at least added some nice crunch and acid. Savory Parmesan Cheesecake: The cheesecake had no flavor; the acid and freshness of the cherry tomatoes of the arugula pesto could not elevate or salvage this dish. Cheese Ravioli: By far the best dish of the evening. The ravioli tasted fresh, were nicely cooked, and the cheeses and sauce were delicious. Smoked Beet Pastrami: The beets were well-cooked and fantastically seasoned, complemented perfectly by the dressing. However, there needed to be more beets and a better beet-to-funnel cake ratio; while the funnel cake added some nice crunch, there was way too much of it and did not do much for the dish. Brussels Sprouts: Well-seasoned, although very greasy and overcooked. Broccoli di Ciccio: Perfectly cooked, but very salty. It did have good heat. House Rolls with butter: Warm and fine, but nothing distinct. I would try elsewhere if you are looking to dine out in Frederick, especially given Wye Oak Tavern's prices.

May very well be the best fine dining in Fredrick. I have zero complaints about the experience. I had the red wine flight and after the flight I asked for one of the wines for a "2nd" glass... Alas! They did not have enough! ...So the staff did what I would do: They offered me a much pricier wine at the same cost. This is doing your customer right. Also, we had a dozen oysters and when we finished we realized we were one short! ha ha! Well... we showed the waiter the shells and he said: Would you like the 12th oyster or for us to comp the selection. We got the 12th oyster... Just offering to comp us was nice. However, all that aside: The food is EXCELLENT, same with the wine and the service...!

We ordered a (French press) coffee and we split the Burrata Toast to start. And because we weren't in the mood for "breakfast" food we both ordered the Wagyu Burger. My friend ordered her burger with a salad but it came with fries but they fixed it pretty quickly. The food was really good. The service was okay.

TLDR: Fun rum focused distillery with creative cocktails and a quirky themed interior. Great stop…read moreduring a Frederick bar crawl. Stopped into True Standard Distilling during the Frederick St. Patty's Day bar crawl and the place was absolutely buzzing all day. As a rum distillery, everything on the cocktail menu leans rum which makes things interesting, especially when they remix classics that usually feature other spirits. I tried their take on a negroni and it was surprisingly really well done. It kept that familiar bitter and balanced profile but with a unique rum twist that made it stand out. The interior was unexpected but in a good way. They were still fully committed to a Valentine's Day theme with pink everywhere and a massive faux chocolate candy wall right when you walk in. It honestly felt like stepping into a mini Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, which added a fun and memorable touch. Despite the crowd, service was quick and efficient. The bartenders clearly knew what they were doing and kept drinks moving without sacrificing quality. Overall, this is a great, high-energy stop if you're spending the day drinking your way around Frederick. Definitely worth popping into, especially if you want something a little different from the usual beer spots.

The place seemed a little smaller then what was seen in pictures, however the Decor did not disappoint- very festive with glistening balls on the ceiling, a Santa in the corner adjacent to distillery drums, packages wrapped on the wall, etc. My friend and I got one of the last seats available- the place is really popular and had lines prior to Sunday. There really wasn't a food option but could be ordered and delivered. I opted for a rum apple beverage and we got the Cocktail flight. Of these-zombie, Mai Tai, Painkiller, Puffer Fish and MAC-Nut Chi Chi the latter was my favorite. Mac-nut Liqueur, pineapple and Coconut (contains nuts) very tasty- even tho it said "summer" Vodka- very refreshing for Winter. Highly recommend- a little pricey but fun vibe; even some beverage containers e.g., Santa's boot were available for purchase. The owners's influence was a trip to Puerto Rico and I can relate!
