You can never go wrong with their Chicken Lunch Combo. I absolutely enjoyed my order of flavored 5 pc boneless chicken with honey butter flavor. The honey butter powder was generously applied to coat the fried chicken and was very tasty. The combo meal also comes with kimchi and pickle radish to balance out the taste. Another order we had was the Mandu (Dumpling) Ramen. It was alright. I personally thought that sometimes it comes out tasting cheap and slightly similar to instant noodles you can get yourself. The texture of the noodles was about the same. Service in the restaurant was good. There was only one lady we saw present in the place, and she did everything from taking our orders, bringing out the food, to accepting order payment. I found myself sometimes having to wait to call her attention for whatever reason, but it was nothing too bad. Pig and Chick could still be improved with better branding. Their menu could be done more professionally and with slight changes to correct typing and word formatting.
Venue 4/5 Nice and tucked away on Main Street unionville. By Watercolor / Il postino. They share the same parking lot, free of course. Service 3/5 Standard order and server will bring food that's it. They refill the water jug when it's empty. Food 3/5 A bit dry on the chicken, but was very flavourful with the powder that made me quite thirsty. Had the fried chicken and the broth.
I visited this restaurant on a Wednesday evening for their $1 wing special. The wings were pretty good with a variety of unique flavours to choose from. My friend and I tried four: Cheesling, Hot & Sweet, Pringkle, and Soya Garlic. The Hot & Sweet was my favourite--well-balanced and flavorful. I found the others were a bit too sweet or too powdery for my taste. We only ordered wings this time, but the other dishes looked appetizing, and I'm looking forward to coming back to try some of their traditional Korean options. Good beer selection and friendly service made the experience better.
Finally got around to trying this place even though my gf and I have known about it ever since it newly opened. It was raining super hard on a thurs night when we came for dinner. There was only one front of house staff on this particular evening. Not sure if it's the owners wife or just a worker, but she was very nice. My gf can't eat spicy so we requested for the rosé tteokbokki to be as mild as possible. It was delicious! So savoury and the rice cakes were cooked so well. The added cheese was a nice touch. I personally don't think it beats the rosé tteokbokki at bb.q Chicken but it was still very good. We ordered a whole chicken (bone-in) which allowed us to choose 2 flavours. We got honey butter and soy garlic. You could tell the chicken was fried with very fresh/clean oil as the skin was golden. The honey butter was my fave cuz it had a hint of sweetness with each crunch and paired w/ the savoury meat I thought it was more balanced. My gf preferred the soy garlic because she likes big, bold savoury flavours in her korean fried chicken. Will definitely come back again! I want to try some of their jokbal, but some of these reviews are making me hesitant about it.
Ordered the Honey Butter Chicken and the Jokbal. The chick was way better than its pig here. :) The 6 pcs boneless honey butter chicken combo with deep-fried samples was nicely done. Very flavourful with juicy meat in it. Made to order with good temperature. Nice touch with the samples as well. A recommended dish. As for the Half-and-half Jokbal (original + spicy)... it was just very ordinary. In fact, lots of Jokbal places made better Jokbal than here I have to say. The texture, taste, and fatty amount of the meat were basically off. The "original" one was pale and very bland (see the photo). The worst thing is the lukewarm temperature. Bring it home and reheat it could taste better, honestly. Overall, it could have been better. Don't mind going back for its chicken but certainly not for the Jokbal. Seriously, it was underwhelmed. 10% cash discount. I rather go for a real Jokbal deal than a cash discount.
First time coming here, waited more than 20 minutes, I got the sweet and spicy fried chicken, I was pretty disappointed hardly any meat, lots of bones it was a proper breast piece or thigh piece they fry all the garbage pieces of the chicken and serve that. The chicken was dry and it wasn't a tender piece of chicken. For 21 dollars not worth the price at all. Kore chicken is ten times better than this. This was one of the worst Korean fried chicken I have ever tasted.
Been wanting to try this restaurant for a while now. We came for an early dinner so the restaurant wasn't busy at all. The service and food were great. We ordered the original jokbal and an appetizer platter. There offered free refills of kimchi and lettuce. This is such a cosy restaurant located in the same complex as Dairy Queen. Parking is available behind the building and also within surrounding distance. I saw they have a special on Wednesdays for wings $1 each or $1.1 each for flavoured wings (min 10 wings) so I'd love to come back to try.
Stumbled upon this place during a busy Sunday afternoon and fortunately there was seating available. The restaurant is tucked away on Main Street in a corner but you shouldn't miss it if you are walking on the west side, walking up in the north direction. The lunch combo ends at 3:30pm which is plenty of time to get the deal. The lunch combo comes with two appetizers (1 mandu and 1 seaweed roll), your choice of boneless chicken flavour, french fries or rice, a can of pop, and two side dishes (pickled radish and kimchi). Overall the quality of food is okay but a little on the pricier side given the location. Service is a little slower if the restaurant is busy but otherwise enjoyed the K-Pop playing in the background!
Got a chance to dine in at this restaurant. Nicely located near Main Street Unionville. Definitely recommend coming during the summer time. You can walk around after meal. Got the appetizers sampler - recommend if you want to try a bit of items you like. Very crispy and delicious. Then got the jokbal combo (original and bbq) - it was so yummy . Then got the bulgogi ramen-very flavourful. But I would recommend if there 3 or more people , can certainly try more items . Was very full after all these dishes. Restaurant was clean and they do sell some Korean items at the front of restaurants. Service was prompt . Would come back to try their fried chicken next time as I see many customers order it.
After my first golf round of the season, a quick Yelp search led me to this restaurant along Main Street Unionville. I like that they have an active Yelp Waitlist, so I know I didn't need to wait long as we were HUNGRY and just wanted a quick bite. I wouldn't have discovered this restaurant otherwise. Even in this busy area, this restaurant is tucked away, so easy to miss on the main street. Inside is a clean restaurant, with several tables well spaced apart. A bit of Korean culture-infused with a Asian photobooth at the entrance. I tried their specialty, jokbal in original and BBQ. Jokbal is Korean-style pig trotters. I've had pig trotters before, but this is my first time prepared this way. It's sliced thinly, expertly deboned and you wrap it with lettuce. The outside layer gives a bit of chew, like tendon, but not quite the same. Even my partner, who doesn't like tendon enjoyed the meal. It gets pretty rich with fatty skin, so the pickled banchan goes well with it. I only wish they serve more banchan. They forgot our pickled radish until we asked if there were any. We ask for seconds, but the refill was a bit skimp. I felt bad to ask for more, but the dish would pair well with more pickled veg in the wrap. They also have more unique pop choices like pineapple Fanta. The restaurant got busy fast. The owner serviced the whole floor and we didn't have to wait too long for our meal. I recommend giving it a try. We (as a group of 2) still had enough leftovers for another meal and a giant bone that I used to prepare congee the next day.
We caught a glimpse of the restaurant's neon window sign while travelling north on Main St., Unionville on our way to another event. It stuck in our mind and we visited just after 9PM on a Tuesday. The place was quiet but very welcoming. Our party of four ordered the Mandu appetizer, Boneless original fried chicken, and Soya Garlic fried chicken to share. The Mandu was amazing, the skin was thin and oh so crispy and was perfectly paired with the dipping sauce. The Boneless original fried chicken arrived hot, juicy, and tender. It didn't last very long. Similarly, the Soya Garlic chicken was perfectly prepared, fragrant, and very tasty. Even though we practically closed the place, service was cheerful and quick. We are all looking forward to coming back and trying the Jokbal and the bowls.
Great addition to the Unionville street restaurant options! I came in with my family to try some things out on the menu. We shared a couple of things to try out including the bulgogi rice bowl, the mandu, and the fried chicken. Everything was delicious. The mandu was nice and crispy, we ordered the regular but I would love to try the spicy on next time too. The chicken was really good -ordered the soya garlic which had good flavour and nice crisp. The bulgogi rice bowl came with miso soup and the kimchi and radish sides. I really loved the radish, it was flavoured differently than what I normally get at most Korean restaurants. It had more of I'd say a sweet taste to it than the average which I enjoyed for a change. The rice bowl was good. I would love to try more things on the menu, so I know I will be back again. The staff were super nice and we were the only table there so very attentive to checking in if we needed anything. They serve rice tea for the table which I love and I liked the teapot they give you for that. Overall very nice vibe in here, with good space and good food.
A great Korean spot if you're on Main Street Unionville. They're known for their fried chicken and jokbal, and they also offer a good selection of Korean snack dishes like mandu, cheese stick fries, rice cakes, and more. There are also plenty of rice bowls and ramen options on the menu. We ordered the original jokbal, three fried chicken flavors (honey butter, cheeseling, and soy garlic), and a rice bowl. If you order jokbal, you can add a plain bowl of rice for just $1-$2, and it comes with all the classic sides like kimchi, lettuce, and dipping sauces. I really enjoyed the jokbal, it was well seasoned, and the fried chicken was flavorful too. My only small complaint is that the fried chicken portions could be a bit bigger for the price. Overall, it was a good and a great place to hang out with friends! We had soju and beer and had a fun time chatting. The vibes are very chill, the usual restaurant-bar feel. The staff were super kind, the food was made fresh to order, and everything came out hot. read more

Great service, yummy food what more can you ask for? We had the Jokbal (braised pork trotters or shanks) and fried chicken. The braised pork was tender and the chicken was super crispy with a good seasoning- try the hot and sweet! You're welcome. Food- came here on a lunch hour Friday afternoon. Ordered the soya garlic chicken bowl. Super flavorful and little crunchy, juicy chicken pieces over a bed of rice. I thoroughly enjoyed it and finished it all! I love how the chicken pieces were flavourful and just the right size for bite-sizes pieces. Mayo, and I asked for a side of bulgogi spice to add a little kick to it. Came with kimchi and radish on the side. Ambience- not too busy during a weekday rush hour, but super casual, and great attentive service. I recommend, and would definitely come back. read more
The original Jokbal is a Korean dish of pig's trotter (Pork Hocks). The wife is the waitress and this is her husband's speciality with lots of spices and very flavourful. Chef of Pig + Chick is specialized in Jokbal successfully operated speciality restaurant in Itaewon, Seoul for the last 10 years now landed in Markham. Main Street, Unionville. The spicy Jokbal was very spicy. I really enjoyed the sauce of the original, flavourful and went well with the rice. The soya garlic wings (8pcs) $18.00 was so tasty. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It was so delicious! Great addition and authentic Korean food at Mainstreet Unionville! read more

Hubby and I have dined at this Korean restaurant on a handful of occasions and have never been disappointed. The owner/chef used to own a restaurant in Itaewon specializing in jokbal (made with pork hocks). They also specialize in Korean fried chicken with house made sauces. Hence their name: Pig and Chick. Portion sizes are good, and prices are reasonable. The Jokbal on rice was a nice shareable portion for hubby and I, along with fried mandu during our first visit. Hubby (who normally is averse to any meat with fat on it) really enjoys their jokbal as it's not oily and they have rendered down most of the fat from the pork hocks. We ordered the jokbal platter (original, and half spicy/half original were both delicious) on subsequent visits with family and friends. They provided a number of house made banchan including pickled radish (they added yuzu juice which was a refreshing touch!), and lettuce to wrap around the jokbal pieces. We also tried the boneless fried chicken in spicy/ sweet, as well as soy garlic flavours, and both were really good. The staff are genuine and helpful. Parking is available behind the restaurant. I love that Pig and Chick is located along Main Street Unionville, giving visitors more ethnically diverse food options. Highly recommend trying this place. read more
I've been here a few times and I'd definitely go back. The owners are amazing and very sweet. I haven't had the chance to dine in but its has a nice causal vibe. I've ordered: Takoyaki 5/5 Spicy Jokbal Bowl 5/5 Spicy Jokbal 5/5 Appetizer Sampler 3/5 When I ordered take out for the Jokbal Bowl and Jokbal platter both came with banchan and also dry miso soup in a container. All you have to do is add water to the miso soup, it's quite delicious. The kimchi is very nice too, it's made in-house. The appetizer sample is a nice snack. read more

Came across this spot when looking for Korean food in the area and I'm glad I did! This place is a bit hidden in unionville, but definitely worth a visit. The inside is very cozy and staff are very friendly. A solid spot for Korean food and came around lunch time so I was able to get the chicken lunch special for $23. It came with six pieces of chicken, fries, a drink and some sides so it was a great deal overall. Got the honey butter and soy garlic Korean fried chicken, both very flavourful. This spot also has a Korean photobooth inside the restaurant, which is a fun addition to use before or after your meal! read more

A small little spot in a corner in Unionville. I had no idea this place existed. I order the soy garlic chicken and i absolutely enjoyed it. Maybe it was the mayo but it really was delicious. We got attended to right away, service was quick, food came out quick too. I will definitely come here again and try out something different. read more
I think this place is new and they expertise in chicken and pork trotter, I ordered the spicy jokbal !! It taste so good... The dish was charred perfectly... soft and flavourful. Has the barbecue scent. $19// filled with meat! Amazing Jokbal! With the limited number of authentic Korean places in the GTA, this place was delicious. The couple that runs the mom and pop shop are some of the sweetest people with several years of experience straight from the streets of Itaewon and it shows! The jokbal was super flavourful and so good that it was hard to stop eat it alone before putting it in a lettuce wrap. The ramyeon was also really good! The soup was flavourful, the noodles were tasty and the galbi was tender and finger lickin good 10/10 food and 10/10 service. I'm definitely coming back and many more times after that! read more

Came here March of this year at 5:00 p.m. before seeing a magician show at the Flato Markham Theatre. There were two tables already seated. We got seated right away and menus brought. We decided to order the spicy jokbal and 9 pieces bone-in flavored fried chicken. The jokbal had a good spice level to it and also comes with lettuce, pickled radish, kimchi, spicy radish as well as some sauce to add to the lettuce wrap. The fried chicken is what you would hope to get at any good Korean Fried Chicken place... large pieces, tender and moist/juicy. The location is bright, spacious and clean. My hubby was talking to the lady owner about how he is going to try and make gamjatang in an Instant Pot and how he could not find perilla seeds. The lady then proceeded to go into the kitchen and brought him a container (the ones the pickled radishes come in) of her own personal stash of perilla seeds. Such a nice thing to do and totally not expected. We haven't been back since but it's now on my radar again & we should be supporting local business especially when the owners are so genuinely kind. Top notch service and great food... highly highly recommend! Easy to find parking and right in Unionville with plenty of places to look around and Too Good pond for a nice stroll afterwards to walk off all the food! read more

Came here on Saturday evening around 5/6pmish and lots of space available. I read some good things about this restaurant and wanted to try it out. I wanted to try the jokbal, but didn't not want to get a whole plate of it since it was just 2 of us. We ordered spicy jokbal instead, we asked what the spice level was and the waitress said it is tolerable and not very spicy. It was very tasty and I can only take moderate amount of spice so it was perfect. It was chewy and seasoned well. We got the garlic soy fried chicken recommended by the waitress and it was very yummy too. The rose tteokbokki was a little disappointing, it was creamy but not as saucy as I wanted it to be, I think the spicy one would've been better. Food was good but I think they use a lot of MSG because when I went back home I had a large glass of water. Overall I would come back again. Would like to have other variety of sides for the food, only got kimchi. read more

Food was fantastic.. For the amount of food we got, it was more than enough for 4 people and fairly priced. The fried chicken tasted different from other Korean fried chicken restaurants but the honey butter fries and everything else was delicious Service was friendly, quick and efficient as well. The staff are very friendly and helped explained the specials on the menu. I ordered food for takeout and went for a brief walk outside. When I came back, the staff offered me a cup of tea while I waited which was appreciated as it was cold outside. There is an area to sit down to eat, the atmosphere is modern and comfortable. I ordered the chicken wings (garlic flavor), pork ribs with rice and takoyaki. In terms of taste the pork ribs were tasty but spicy. We loved it as we like spicy foods. My son loved the chicken wings, said they were the best he has ever tasted. We will definitely be coming back for the fried chicken. read more
I'm not sure why but I came into this place with high expectations and I was a little disappointed. It's gave me a fast food korean cuisine vibe. Although the hood wasn't bad. It wasn't anything special, we ordered the k-army soup, which was basically instant noodles with a slice of singles cheese and rice on the side for over $16. We also ordered the half original & half bbq jokbal, which no complaints on the flavour and portion, but the sauce that came with it was very little compared to amount of meat and we had to keep asking for sauce, which felt like a nuisance.
