We were super excited to see a new restaurant on Catalina Island. Pier 24 did not disappoint. The view is amazing. Perfection, actually. The food was great too. I ordered the Smashburger and it was excellent! As usual I asked for a side of ranch and they suggested their Sriracha ranch. It was so good! My boyfriend ordered the Cuban sandwich with fries. He loved it. The service was excellent too. We were acknowledged shortly after we sat down. This is always appreciated and a good sign, in my book. The servers were very friendly. I overheard an order mixup happening next to us and they handled it perfectly. We will definitely put eating at Pier 24 on our must do list when we visit Catalina again. read more

I was able to try three dishes since I was with a few people . The pizza was extremely garlicky . I have nothing against garlic but wow it was really really garlicky! It should really mention it in the menu , it was kind of inedible. The Cubano sandwich was a bit dry and salty but it was ok over all . Lastly the smash burger was pretty good ! Definitely the best out of the 3. One side note ; they don't give complimentary water . So overall i would not return here again . I went to Antonio's (former restaurant on this site) my whole life so I was excited to see this space upgraded. We wanted to try out the restaurant on a Tuesday evening since they host a weekly trivia night and my husband and I love trivia. It was overall a really great experience. The views from both inside and outside the restaurant were great. The service was great and the food was good. Trivia started on time and moved quickly which was much appreciated since we had our two young daughters with us. We are looking forward to returning! The only odd thing on the menu was that their only dessert is $23-$25 milkshakes. Our daughters wanted dessert but we couldn't justify spending that much on a milkshake so we opted to eat ice cream at home. read more

The view is good, I suspect it's why anyone goes here. Maybe I'm just going at the wrong times but this place is always empty. The food is definitely okay, but I'm not really into Italian much. The staff was pleasant, they certainly didn't do anything wrong, but the place leaves me feeling like something is missing. I do appreciate that they've redesigned how the tables work since I was last here. I remember rows of booths which were good for separating groups of people into cozy nooks, but gave the place an enclosed feeling. Now it's open tables except for the booths along the windows and that gives it a much more open feeling. I'm trying to remember what I ate and to be honest, I can't remember. This experience was alright. I think the location is very nice and the ambiance is cute as it is right on the water. We got a booth inside with a view of the water. Our server took a while to greet us. This was my first time on Catalina so I was a bit shocked to hear that the only water they offer is bottled water for $2 each. I was not sure if this was typical for every establishment or just this one? I thought charging for water was odd, we almost left based on this alone. I ordered the Caprese panini. I was a bit disappointed since it was pretty limp and soggy. I wish I asked to change the bread from ciabatta to sourdough. It was okay in flavor but it was just very limp. My partner did not like the dressing on the elote salad which was extremely smokey and overpowering. The fried pickles were good. The fries were as you'd expect. Prices are standard, expect to pay $30 per person maybe. To add a protein for example, it would be another $10 which is a lot. read more

We are here twice on our trip to Catalina! We came back for the 2nd time because the service was AMAZING from Cienna and the smash burger was out of this world! We ended up having her again as our server. She was by far the best server we've had as she is so kind and attentive. We were a group of females and she referred to us as "gals" and "girls". Never called us "guys" because we aren't guys. She loves her job and it truly showed with her serving skills. The food and views were incredible too! Nice location with optional window booth seating looking out into the ocean. Interior is decent enough, nothing fancy. The outdoor patio seats are metal with no cushions. There is another area that offers bar style seating stools that overviews the water. The service was great. I have no issues to speak of regarding the staff. Our table was attended to multiple times. The reason for the poor review rating was the food. The prices are extreme for the quality of food you receive. My total bill was $200+. To start, I had a sweet and spicy chicken that appeared old and was overcooked and tasteless. The skin of the chicken had a rancid smell and was absolutely horrid. I tried eat some, but ultimately spit it out twice. I complained and was offered another dish to which I chose a double smash burger. However this was not a smash burger. This was a typical burger with two frozen patties that I can make at home. Nothing smashed about it. The pizzas were ok, nothing special. Kids chicken tenders were overcooked and dry. The poke and lobster sliders were exceptional though. The shakes are absurdly expensive, $25 for a shake, I better be getting something extravagant. However it was something you would receive from a typical diner for $6. So not sure why how $20+ is justified for a shake here. I don't see myself returning to this establishment, but for those interested. It seems like the fish dishes are the way to go. read more

The food was definitely not worth the price tag. I ended up going to a different restaurant. If you're on vacation and want to enjoy a flavorful meal after a full day of activities and an hour-long boat ride, try a different spot. The French fries were under cooked and not hot. The people next to us sent their fries back due to being straight up cold. But the biggest heart break was, Waiting 18and half minutes for amazingly looking out of this world milk shake that was delightfully 5 star looking To take the first big gulp and it was completely warm. We started w the crispy artichokes. Light, crispy and so delicious. I had the crispy skin broiled salmon & red rice. Light but filling. So so yummy. My hubby had the pepperoni & prosciutto pizza. The fries are not for me according to my waiter loaded fries are fries, chopped bacon, green onions, and sour cream .... again not for me fries had a frozen taste. The real disappointed came from the wings while the Buffalo Sause was good had flavor and depth it couldn't help the wings frozen taste. The staff was very friendly. The food took a little time, but it was hot when it got to us and tasted fantastic! We definitely don't mind waiting for good quality freshly made food. While waiting the waiter was checking in and taking care of us. It was great to be able to get both crab legs and yummy burgers. The only downside was that they don't have crab crackers so it was harder to get the crab claws to crack, but we managed. We would definitely recommend this place and return.
