My husband and I went here this past weekend. This place was really wonderful! We were sat quickly and right by the window at sunset. We shared a bottle of the Kim Crawford wine, which was delicious. To start we got the Duck Cigars (incredible!), A cup of Tomato soup (SO GOOD!), and a bread basket, which we never received :( . I got a 12oz Prime Ribeye and my husband enjoyed the rack of lamb and lobster tail. They initially came out with my side, potato, on his plate, and his side, rice pilaf, on my plate. We politely asked it to be fixed since that would have become very messy if we did it at the table, which they had no problem taking back to the kitchen to fix. My steak was so good, a little over done in my opinion, but I do prefer more pink/red in a standard medium rare. My husband loved the lamb, but said the lobster was overall lacking flavor. We then had the chocolate cake which was SOOOO fudgey and delicious! Our experience was very nice, except for the missed appetizer, which was removed from the bill, and our sides swapped, but overall very good. The workers are all very friendly and funny. If you're vegan (or not!) and anywhere near the island, Steven's Steakhouse and Seafood is an absolute must-visit. The cauliflower steak was outstanding--packed with flavor, perfectly cooked, and easily one of the best plant-based dishes I've had in a long time. The service is fast, and the entire staff makes you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. Everyone is friendly, and clearly takes pride in what they do. And if you're lucky enough to snag a table by the windows, you're in for a treat--watching the sunset while enjoying a meal like this just elevates the whole experience. I would never have stepped foot in place with "steakhouse" in the name if it wasn't for the severe lack of dining options in off-peak season (January) AND seeing a whole section on the menu dedicated to vegan/vegetarian options. Shared a few entrees with friends: Butternut Squash Ravioli (5/5) - Really delicious and creamy without being overly sweet which is always my worry with butternut squash ravioli. I'm glad we got it with the tomato cream sauce for a bit of tang to offset the richness. Veggie Platter (2/5) - This was just such a random hodgepodge of things. Baked potato was just so plain and had flakes of aluminum in it from the way it was cut into. 1/3 of the plate was just taken up by containers of butter. The artichoke was good but everything else was disappointing especially for how much this entree cost (most expensive dish on the vegetarian/vegan menu) Cauliflower Steak (5/5) - Now this exceeded my expectations! AMAZING EXPERIENCE!! we visited steve's on our last night on the island to celebrate new year's eve. we were quickly found a table and the service stayed quick the whole time. our server was funny, relatable, attentive, and fast! speaking of fast, a couple of the employees will run through the restaurant to grab the food and deliver it to customers. it was funny to watch! everyone works together to get the food out and awnser questions of their customers! Cheesy Garlic bread was great, steak was shockingly good, broccolini was good, baked potato was ok, and rice pilaf was excellent! My boyfriend and I came to Catalina Island to celebrate my birthday. Our hotel was next door, and we happened to walk by the restaurant and decided to have dinner there. The food is delicious here. I enjoyed the garlic cheese bread as an appetizer, and the rib-eye steak was cooked perfectly. Our server, Adam, was amazing. He keeps the vibe upbeat and makes the food much more enjoyable. He gets an A++, we absolutely loved him. We were placed at the window, and the views were stunning. We could feel the breeze, which was refreshing to feel while eating dinner (and cool down my Asian Glow lol). They DO NOT hold back on the liquor in the lemon drop, just a warning haha. Visiting Catalina for a three day weekend and of all three dinners that we had while on the island this was our favorite. It's right across from Avalon Bay so you can dine staring at the water, which is a lovely option. If possible try to sit at one of the tables by the windows which have the best views. It's located up on the second floor so you have good views of the entire bay. Inside is quite large and they have many different seating options available for many different size parties. Our server Juan was very polite and everything that we ordered arrived very fast. For our dinner, we ordered the Artichokes and the Wedge Salad to start, which were both nice and a good sized portion. I wish the Wedge would have bacon with it as that is the standard version but still this one was very tasty and a good start to the meal. For our dinner, we chose the Shrimp & Chips which was very good and had very large, plump shrimp. For myself, I chose the special of the day, which was the Barramundi cooked in a lemon caper sauce and honestly really loved it. It had some great flavors and it was very tender and cooked perfectly. I got a baked potato on the side, which was quite small, but still had nice flavors. Overall, we had a great dining experience and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the island and I would certainly dine here again next time I visit Catalina. read more

Almost landed on another perch but thanks to my Hawk-eye hubby we noted Steve's (Steve is awesome by the way) is upstairs. So glad we found the stairway. I give this place six out of five stars based on all criteria, ambience, a nice cool Catalina breeze, the staff...Steve the owner even came over and checked on us our server Tania was exceptionally attentive, and all the food was just so well prepared. Came here last December to celebrate my parents' anniversary. We couldn't make any reservations due to the restaurant policy so we made sure to arrive exactly when they had opened to get seats. I was hoping to get a seat by the beach as I saw you can do that on their website, but I later found out that is only an option in the summertime. We sat down relatively quickly and the waiter was kind in explaining their most popular items. Here's what we ordered: 1) Boston Clam Chowder 2) Pasta of the Day 3) NY Steak 4) Filet Mignon 5) Halibut Unfortunately all the food items we ordered were WAY too salty. Things tasted over seasoned as if fear of not enough seasoning, especially the steak and mignon. It was hard trying to finish all our food and our mouths were quite dry at the end of it. The halibut on the other hand was way too sour due to the lemon sauce. For the price paid, I don't think this meal was worth it. read more

We've dined here at least 3 times and again as recent as 2 days ago. Excellent cocktails and great food selections. We sat by the window so we can have dinner with a nice view of beach. My husband had the calamari steak which was so tender and delicious. I had the rib eye steak which was really very flavorful. Our server, Johnny was the best. We were happy to try Steve's Steakhouse this visit. I had a Mai Tai for my cocktail and we had deliciously hot sourdough bread and butter for our appetizer. The calamari steaks were amazing! Tenderized, thin, perfectly cooked & large portion. Definitely MUST add the caper lemon sauce ... a little dip on each piece to keep your steak crispy (a tip from Johnny, our waiter). My husband has the grilled shrimp and baked potatoes. The service was amazing. Waters poured and a cold glass bottle left on the table for us to refill if needed. They lit our candle (a real one!). Food was served pretty quickly and hot! We had a beautiful outlook over Avalon Beach and Harbor that was all lit up with lights. It was nicely decorated and quiet and calm. The Rib eye steak was a good size I myself couldn't eat it alone but it was cooked perfect and tasted fantastic . We also ordered the pasta of the day which was a pesto shrimp rigatoni, yum! The pasta dish paired well with the rib eye and I was pleased. The restaurant sits right if front of the harbor, so I would recommend trying to get the window seat. Went for dinner on weekday night and was very pleased. The service was impeccable. The seating was super comfortable and the decor was nice. Great red wine (can't remember the brand or type). They charge for the bread, but it's well worth it. Wasn't in the mood for red meat, so I got the salmon with a baked potato. It made for a boring plate presentation, but it tasted very good. I saw a post where someone wanted ice water, not bottled water. Bottled water is just an island thing since the drought started years ago, but you can ask for a cup of ice with your bottled water though. read more

You feel right at home with their smiling faces and jovial demeanor. The food is great too. I had a Cesar salad and lobster tail dinner. My family and I were looking for a place to have lunch on a Saturday and stumbled upon this place and thought we'd give it a shot. When we were walking up, I'm assuming the owner had greeted my boyfriend saying " Hey Miguel" when we were all looking at him confused he further explains that there was another customer last night that looked similar in appearance.. Felt like a racial stereotype and was very uncomfortable. When we sat down we were instantly greeted by our waiter and given menus. It took us a couple minutes to decide what we all wanted. They also charged us $1 (per bottle water ) for water since they didn't have water on tap. What was ordered was half a dozen oysters, Grilled Salmon (with rice pilaf as the side ), the swordfish blackened ( with loaded baked potato), and a full rack of ribs ( with side of sweet potatoes). The oysters were delicious, very fresh but I would like to note that there were two oysters that were VERY small while the other oysters were a good size. For the price that they're charging for them and the fact that we were given 2 small oysters it was not worth the price. The swordfish was overcooked but the flavor was good. The grilled salmon was also overcooked and very dry. There was a portion of the salmon that I had to cut with my knife... For any fish that's cooked correctly you would not need a knife. For the rack of ribs my parents had ordered to share, when it arrived my mom totally forgot that to ask for half the rib to have no bbq sauce so I thought I would just ask to see if there was anything that could possibly be done. I had told our waitress just to see but she looked dead in my face and said " What do you want me to do about that? I can call my manager ." with an attitude seems like she was insinuating I'm trying to get a free meal or not trying to pay. The manager had came by anyway and asked if everything was alright. He said that the ribs are already pre-sauced and don't have any ribs without sauce. We didn't mention anything further and just let it be. My mom barely ate her rack of ribs, said the sauce was too sweet and my dad agreed. The biggest dish upset of all the plates ordered was the ribs. The ribs seems like it had never even seen the grill, there was no grill marks. It seemed like they were boiled and just had bbq sauce put all over them. They were so bad that my dad didn't want to take the rest of the ribs because they were just that bad, we ended up taking it and revamping it for my dog. The view from the restaurant was nice. When walking in I was honestly wondering why there was only a few tables and not a packed house (I now know why). For the price that they're charging the food is very bad making it the worst place my family and I have eaten- would not recommend eating here. read more

Our server, Bryce, was on his A game despite being sat with a bunch of tables at once.. he managed it all well. Our order came was delivered perfectly, thanks Bryce. We were at Steve's for a birthday dinner and ordered two steaks, the NY strip and the ribeye. Both were seasoned well and cooked to the desired temp. The only downside was the way they were cooked, which is more of a personal preference than anything against the restaurant. Both steaks have high fat content, we all know this and that's why we get them, but some of the fat should be rendered during the cooking process so it's a bit more edible, but that wasn't the case with these steaks. All in all; I do think it's one of the better restaurants on the island, but having the option for a flat top or grilled cook type would've been preferable for us. We came here last minute and it was lovely. We had great service. The bread at the table was yummy. My daughter got the kids steak which was cool because I normally don't see that on a menu.
