First, I'll start with the good. Their sweet pies and tarts are fantastic! A bit pricey but the ingredients and rent can't be cheap! I went in on a Monday afternoon with my son to grab some lunch and pie. The girl at the counter took my order and gave my son his pastry right away. It was delicious! I ordered a quiche and a cesar salad, the later she had to prepare. The quiche went in the oven to be heated and we waited and waited, and she waited on a couple more people. The quiche is ready and my son is done with his pastry and ready to go. The quiche is inedibly salty and still cold in the center. I LOVE salty food and this was insane, possibly a wrong measurement...just a bad batch? 10 minutes later, after already waiting 15 min for the quiche, and I'm still waiting for my cesar. The girl had zero hustle. Finally I just ask for it to go and she again explains to me that she has to prepare it. If I hadn't already paid for it I would have canceled it, but I had just spent $20 on an inedible quiche, a cesar, and a pastry and I was so hungry! I boxed up the quiche, not wanting to waste and figuring my husband the garbage disposal would eat it, mentioned the saltiness of it as a heads up and not only did she not offer something else, didnt apologize for the wait, didn't say goodbye when we left...I dunno, I felt had when I left. I will say, when I did eat the cesar salad later it was tasty. I think the weakness lies in the customer service and his/her inability to do it all. One person comes in to order a latte and the food keeps getting pushed back. I understand they bake for many other places, as there were two other women in the kitchen. If it was my place I would train all the employees to make/prepare all the in house orders so they can jump in to help and let the counter person take the orders and make the coffee drinks. First time I came i thought this place was a bit overpriced, but the food wasn't bad. It's right next to the park so I would stop in every now and then, but the last time I went it seems the portions got even smaller. LIKE SHOCKINGLY SMALL!! $16 for 2 handpies the size of McDonald's apple pies with even less filling. So if you wanna pay $8 for 3 bites worth of food. Go here. Otherwise don't bother. read more

I hate to be the dissenting voice, but I'm wondering if any of the people who gave them five stars have actually had delicious, flaky pie crusts? I ordered five different savory pie products and got them a couple of days ago through a new Brooklyn delivery service. I got three hand pies and two pot pies. The first night I heated the chicken hand pie and found the crust to be soggy. Unfortunately, the chicken was tough and stringy as well. I think this one also had the rock hard peas. Folks, you need to cook them a little before putting them into pies. Yesterday I heated the turkey pot pie, the one that gained them national attention. I'm sorry to report it wasn't very good at all. The turkey pot pie supposedly had sweet potatoes and yes it did, but about a teaspoon on one side of the pie. I found it on my last bite. I haven't had a frozen supermarket pot pie for about 30 years, but if my memory serves me well this turkey pot pie tasted like the ones I ate as a kid. Oh, the crust wasn't soggy on this one, but I did take it out of the pie tin before heating and left it in the oven until the inside was really hot. There were no heating directions on the box I got the pot pies in. This has been an overly expensive disappointment, one I am quite willing to share with the people who delivered these to me. I still have two hand pies and one chicken pot pie left to try, but I have no hope for anything better. Sorry guys, you need to do better for the prices you charge. I'm so glad I never managed to get to your shop as I planned to. It would have been a waste of time and effort. read more

I stopped at this bakery because it seemed cozy with space to sit down and enjoy a coffee. It was, which is rare in the neighborhood. However, $5.00 plus change for a small slice of average tasting pie (cold despite being warmed up for me), was outrageous. It didn't help that I was ignored by the two servers for a solid amount before they took my order. And one of the workers needed to (re)apply their deodorant. Stopped in for Pi Day and I was not disappointed! Probably went a little crazy because they were having a special so I tried 3 different kinds (apple crumb with rosemary caramel, chocolate hazelnut, lemon chess) of pie. I always walk by this place on my way to the supermarket and finally decided to give it a whirl. The guy behind the counter was very knowledgable and friendly. I decided to get almost one of every hand pies because my family was in town and wanted some variety. For what they charge, the portion sizes and quality are both well worth it. I was walking past Pie Corps on Driggs with my 1 year old daughter a short while back and a dog jumped out to attack us. It was tied to there bench outside. It was about 6 inches away. It scarred the life out of me. I went inside and told them what happened and the young man behind the counter seemed a little annoyed by me telling him this. He told me it was not there responsibility if a child gets bitten by a dog left tied to there bench. There's a children's school across the street. I walked passed again today and noticed a dog had been tied there for about 15mins freezing while the owners were enjoying a coffee inside. Of course it's the dog owners responsibility but this happens often with many differnt dogs and owners. I tried being nice to them and they were rude. I will never go there and I will tell everybody i know in the area of Greenpoint not to go there. read more

I have been to Pie Corps twice now, it is very close to me, and it is tasty. First off. They offer a lot of savory pies, hand pies and gallettes. Some of their fillings are similar to English Pasties. I found the savory pies good, but lacking enough filling. You end up getting too much crust, which I never thought was possible, but it is. The dessert pies are fantastic. I had one roasted apple baked in a pie dough. It was so autumn-esque and delicious. I also had a slice of Apple, with all kinds of tasty stuff in it, I recommend it. They serve Brooklyn Roasting Company Coffee, which is a nice dark roast. I had this place bookmarked for a long time, and finally walked all the way down Driggs to try it out. I will say that I was hungry when I got there, which I don't recommend, simply because you'll want to eat everything. The girl at the counter was very friendly and explained what everything was for me. I wound up getting a mac 'n cheese hand pie, a slice of apple crumb pie, and a chocolate chip pecan cookie. Carbs on carbs on carbs... Everything was really wonderful. I'm sure I ate a week's worth of butter but I don't care! The long walk to get there from the G is a good thing - it ensures I won't be there all the time, and burns a few extra calories for when you want to eat more than one slice of pie. They had a great selection - several different sweet pies (whole/slices), several small pies, savory hand pies, soups, croissants, quiches, bread pudding, a few different cookies, and more delicious options that I ignored so I wouldn't want to buy even more. I wish I had tried the chocolate chip pie, but the apple crumb was SO GOOD. I'll just have to go back to see what other flavors I can try. read more

Truid pie corpse for the first time today, had the mint truffle pie which tasted great jist the right amount of mint and dense but creamy. My only issue is with the size of the slice you are given. For $5 you are provided with the smallest piece I've ever seen, I took a photo and put a pen next to it for perspective. However, I will definitely come back to try the savory pies. read more

Great little Greenpoint pie shop. I'd say they do an excellent job at non-traditional pies like smores and their almond rhubarb is amazing. The best pies I've ever tried! I've only tasted three of the sweet pies so there's a lot more to try out and I will definitely be back. I shared a few slices with a friend and we were both equally impressed. We had an apple pie variation (I think lavender?), coconut custard pie (deliciously salty, coconutty and sweet) and a key lime variation. Yum!! I have really tried my best to give this place a fair chance. I'm really surprised at how many positive reviews this place has. I've tried pies, soup, quiche and every single time it is bland, boring and tasteless. Even so, because of its proximity to my apartment, I would probably return if the prices were not so expensive. Tonight was my last attempt. I ordered mac and cheese (re-heated) and the center was ice cold and the cheese was dry. I stopped going in for pies and the coffee and tea soon followed. I had the unfortunate hazard of interacting with one of the owners. This place is really cute and the savory pies looked wonderful! We only tried two slices of sweet pie - a chocolate mint and a lemon basil. Yes it's pricey but pretty comparable to other pie shops in the area. The main problem was they weren't very good. The lemon pie filling was the same consistency as the crust (gummy/soggy). The chocolate mint didn't have much flavor. The server was very sweet but checked in on us quite a lot considering we were only there for 10-15 minutes. read more

I ought to have written a review for Pie Corps a long time ago, since I'm pretty much a regular there. I have not had one thing there I didn't like. The savory hand pies make a perfect quick meal on the go. They are always changing the menu up and adding new fillings. All their soups, sides, and tarts are delicious too, and of course so are the sweet pies. But the best thing about Pie Corps is really just their whole vibe. Cheryl and her team have created a warm and relaxed atmosphere, which isn't always necessarily the case with some of the trendy bakeries and cafés in the area. I like the Blue Stove (the next closest bakery in the area) too, but there's a certain unpretentiousness and realness that sets Pie Corps apart. Highly recommended! read more

I ordered Pie Corps tiny pies in mason jars for my wedding as favors and let me just say they were a HIT. Everyone went gaga for the interesting and delicious flavors and really just the overall concept. I mean what drunk person would say no to a small pie in a jar after a night of dancing? I will tell you, NO ONE. I would definitely recommend this to any lover of food who is looking for a different take on their wedding favors. The staff here is super nice, the pies are yummy and the place is super clean. This is a new haunt for me. I love the savory hand pie selections and the pie pops are such a fun spin on the played out cake pop. Pies and slices are kinda pricey but they have pie classes and a distinct local flavor so I will get my sweet fix from Pie Corps when I am in the neighborhood.
