First time at the new Piccolo Buco. The inside is very nice looking, cool decor and we got a warm welcome from the wine tasters as we walked in. Found 2 seats at the bar and off to a good start with a few wine samples. Food was very good, definitely a notch up from Cooper's Hawk (which is still very good). Then things went downhill. Never saw our bartender again as she went to the other end of the bad to make drink for 45 minutes straight. Not sure the other bartender knew that she was supposed to pick us up, but she was totally absent. Could have gotten us to get dessert or another cocktail, but we felt pretty ignored at that point so we paid and left. Hoping the service snafus clear up as they work out the early kinks. read more

I just ate my first meal here and I loved it! I had the gluten-free chicken Parmesan. It was delicious. My wife, who isn't gluten-free, had a three finger cavatelli and she loved it so much she's taking it home. The regular pizza looks amazing!!! I wish I could eat it. The pasta so far is great. The pizza not so much. Also, at the beginning they offered complimentary bread, not any longer. The first Italian restaurant I have ever been that doesn't offer bread. The service was terrible, and my arugula salad was all lettuce, way too much dressing, 2 or 3 pathetic grape segments, 2 or 3 small bits of walnuts, 2 tiny flakes of cheese, and that's it. I don't know where to start. I don't know how many employees they had working maybe 35. We went in when they opened so there was plenty of tables available with a lot of staff. So we choose to order a wine slushy, a soda, and appetizer salad and a pizza . The wine slushy took about 35 minutes to get. So we're sitting waiting never got the appetizer salad finally somebody else that isn't Our server brings the pizza over and we look at it and we're like that is not our pizza. So they're like what did you order and we told them and he said OK let me go check on that so keep in mind. We still haven't gotten our APPETIZER salad. They brought the wrong pizza. It's now been over an hour and we were the first people in there so there's really no excuse for this honestly Most normal places would be like would you like to keep this pizza because we're probably gonna throw it out anyway, because nobody else is in here nope. So finally, we get the right pizza and I look at it. It's half burnt. It didn't taste good and we got the salad with the pizza now I have been to the Oakbrook one a good number of times and never had these issues. Overall, to be in this restaurant, we were here over three hours . This was for an appetizer salad, a wine slushy, a soda, a salad, and then a pizza and then when you pay, they stand right on top of you while you're paying to make sure they get that minimum of 20% tip! I mean, that's just ignorant first of all I tip based on service And the service here as you can see was beyond subpar I don't think tip should be 20 to 30% when I had the service that I had but I was forced to leave 20% and I just won't go back again read more

Piccolo Buco is a new addition to the Fox Valley dining scene, but for me, it was meh overall. We tried the pasta fagioli, which leaned far too salty and tasted more like a minestrone soup. The calamari had a nicely breaded exterior, but the squid inside was strangely mushy one of those bites that makes you pause and wonder if you should keep eating. Main dishes The baked eggplant was simple at best. I was hoping for layered eggplant parm style richness, but instead it felt like individually fried slices stacked together. The charred pepperoni pizza had good flavor, but the dough was overwhelming too much bread compared to toppings. Sat at the bar, the service itself was decent. Being part of a Cooper's Hawk group, the wine selection is the main highlight. Unfortunately, the bathrooms were a big letdown they reminded me of a middle school restroom, which kills the upscale vibe Block 59 is aiming for. It's probably a one-and-done for me. In a prime new redevelopment, I was hoping for something memorable, but Piccolo Buca didn't deliver. read more

We took my niece out with her friends for homecoming, she and her friends got a separate table than us. To begin with, the food was soooo good! I had their chicken Parmesan and coming from someone who LOVES Italian, this was super good. The nonalcoholic wine was delicious. Everything was great up until my niece and her friends came out upset and uncomfortable, so I asked what was wrong, they said that a waiter got angry at them for not getting a tip from them (Mind you they are only 13) So I went up to her and gave her a hard time on how disrespectful she was to these kids. Not so great experience! Went to celebrate friends birthday. Waitress Olivia was moderately friendly What Italian restaurant do you have to ask for bread? It wasn't busy but at some point our waitress disappeared . We were followed up by 2 different waitresses . Ok no problem , we were given our bill by fill in waitress we only ask to split it in half. Then it came back at a different total after they ran my credit card . It took them several tries to figure it out . We became frustrated at the lack of communication and professionalism of the manager who initially didn't come to address the issue. Olivia was overwhelmed and obviously having a meltdown not due to us. Manager should have handled it better. No reassurance that we weren't charged twice. Now I have to check my credit card and just take his word. What started as a birthday dinner with reasonable good food . Left us not feeling cheerful or celebrated! They weren't even busy! Walked in around 3pm waited about 8minutes for hostess, when one came over asked twice if we had a reservation, we looked around and not a soul at a table and it took her 10 minutes to find a table for us to sit. I have to say our waitress was excellent! We ordered pizza yellow margarita and shared a pasta salad. Would not go back for pizza but the salad was plentiful and delicious. I stopped in today for lunch with a friend. My Fugo pizza was good but the crust was as thin as paper with a 2" wide crust, way more crust than pizza. My friend ordered a salad with cheese, and salamI. Looked weak like it had been made yesterday but it didn't have any Kalamata olives. When she asked if they could bring the olives, the server said they were on there. There was 1 black little thing the size of a peppercorn. He explained they 'grind' the olives. What a way to cut corners while each entree was $18.99. Don't think I'll be back as there plenty of other new restaurants in Block 59 and the rest of Naperville. read more

Piccolo Buco is such a festive, vibrant environment. The art is bright. The lighting is cozy. The bar is so impressive and grand. The food is so delicious and presented artfully. The hospitality is gracious and inviting. The pacing of the meal is leisurely and unrushed. We discovered Piccolo Buco in Oak Brook Mall and were excited to try out this new location in Naperville. It was so enjoyable. We love how they cut the pizza at the table for us offering 6 or 8 pieces. It pairs so well with the chopped salad. The Cheese and Meat appetizer platter is a must. Everything from the kitchen is from scratch. The Tiramisu is to decadent. The wine flight is so stately. Be sure to ask for a sample from their reserve barrel. If you're a member of the Cooper's Hawk Wine Club, you can pick up your bottles at Piccolo Buco which is very convenient. I think Naperville is lucky to have this new eatery! The atmosphere was very attractive in the Oakbrook IL location. Our server was friendly, attentive, readily available and informative. We met there for a family luncheon and, with reservations, we were seated quickly. No problem, staff friendly and helpful. Coming from the northeast I know how high the price of restaurant food has gotten. However, the eggplant parmigiana was ok. If you like plenty of cheese and less eggplant this would be for you. However, there was no pasta on the side. Pasta is pretty inexpensive so usually a side is included. No bread at all to sop your gravy up with or a basket just placed on the table with a dipping dish before your entree arrives. We would have paid for it but they had 'no bread'. No complimentary Parmesan cheese on the table. We asked for a salad for the table which was the size of a dinner plate for the 8 of us. It was delicious but not enough. We would have ordered three of those plates had we known. It was also very hard to talk...loud. The prices were NY prices but lacking the extras I mentioned above. Parking also an issue. read more

This is a restaurant that just opened, so I'm trying to give some grace, but I was not impressed! My husband and I had a reservation and weren't seated until 33 minutes after the reserved time. After about 10 minutes I was able to get a spot at the complimentary bar and was the recipient of a pretty heavy sales pitch to join the wine club. Once we finally got a table, it took minutes for anyone to even come by. Thankfully by that time we were ready with our whole order. It took another 10 minutes for our drinks to come out. Came here with my boyfriend for our anniversary and his birthday. The food was delicious! It is pricey, but splitting an entree and an appetizer was enough for the both of us. We are patrons of Coopershawk in Naperville, Downers Grove, and Montgomery. We have also been to Piccolo Buco in Oak Brook. Have not had as disappointing of an experience in any of those locations. Our waitress was efficient but perhaps too efficient. She didn't give us any time to look at the drink menu before she was pushing us to order a pizza and drinks. We were rushed into ordering same within the first 2 minutes after we were seated. When she came back she asked us if we were interested in ordering an appetizer (pizza wasn't even at the table yet) and we said no as we hadn't had a chance to breath at that point. She left and brought our drinks (we each ordered cocktails) and a pamphlet about the Coopershawk rewards and wine club. She was pushing the program which I understand is part of her job. After that someone else brought the pizza and actually interacted with us. He was very nice and talked to us while he cut the pizza. She returned right after we started eating the pizza and asked about any additional food orders. We each ordered entrees and she told us we could start earning rewards with this meal if we signed up. We told her we weren't interested and she picked up the brochure and left. Our food was delivered and we didn't see her again until she returned offering boxes and dessert menu. By this time, it was clear we were in the dog house for not ordering appetizers, not signing up for the rewards/wine club and having only one round of drinks. Very unpleasant. When she returned we elected not to order dessert as we felt like we were being pushed out by her. Not likely to return at this point. Felt very much like she had an agenda to upsell,, cross sell and move us through like an assembly line. Please note, it is my birthday today. We had a reservation and my husband indicated we were celebrating my birthday when he booked the reservation. The ostess acknowledged my birthday but the server never did. read more
