Came in on a Sunday night for dinner around 6pm. There were no other customers seated inside, but I heard several phone orders for pick up. The place was described by another reviewer as "no frills" and that's absolutely correct. We were greeted immediately upon entering, seated, and brought paper menus. Water and the Thai tea were served in red plastic cups. The Thai tea was delicious; not too sweet. I had the #25 spicy beef and it was definitely spicy! The service was prompt and friendly. The bathroom was small, but clean and had sufficient soap and paper towels. The food seemed authentic to me.

Delicious pho in an unassuming space on Penn in Garfield. The real deal Vietnamese deal. A small bit pricey but well worth it.

Pho Minh Soup and pho

Pho Minh is back to in person dining, and me and my friend went around 6 PM for dinner. We got the spring rolls which were fresh and delicious and I got a beef pho. The broth was perfectly flavored and light and I appreciated the amount of green onions. Definitely will be back to try other things. Note: this restaurant is cash only

This place is currently takeout only. They have really dang good pho. I low key love how they put their noodles and bean sprouts and fixings in ziploc bags for takeout. You get mint, bean sprouts, and lemon with your pho. The pho broth is delicious here and you can tell it is homemade. It doesn't feel too heavy or powerful and is just right! Love that you can get pho with only beef meatballs here since a lot of places here don't do that. They have a lot of pho options. They are currently cash only!

This is definitely a hole in a wall place. However, they do have some of the best Vietnamese food in town. Very authentic flavors. The only catch with this place is that it only accepts cash. It's my favorite go to Vietnamese place.

Fresh Spring Rolls with Pork and Shrimp (2)

We ordered carryout pho and fresh spring rolls as a nice way to warm up on a very cold Saturday. Originally, we were going to order from Tram's Kitchen, but as of 1/23/2021, they were still closed for renovations. Undeterred, we decided to try Pho Minh, which was truly delightful in its own way. Pho Minh's menu of soups is extensive, but we stuck to our favorite rare beef pho and added meatballs. The fresh spring rolls were an excellent starter, and I honestly think that on a warmer day, I'd likely want to nosh on just these because they were the essence of cool and refreshing. The dipping sauce was quite good and came garnished with peanuts, which I loved. The pho itself was rich and flavorful. If you're ordering takeout, you'll receive the broth with meats as well as garnishes like your sprouts, Thai basil, and limes, along with a bag of cooked noodles. After a little assembly and customization, you'll have a delicious bowl of pho. I quite pleased and felt immediately cozier. We'll definitely be ordering from Pho Minh again. Hopefully, next time on a day that's warmer than 18 degrees Fahrenheit.

Pho ga

Stopped in with a friend for lunch, and I'm so glad we did! The food was delicious-- I got the pho ga (chicken pho). Everything tasted fresh, and we really enjoyed it. Our lunch also came with a pot of tea, which was also great. This restaurant is CASH ONLY! Come prepared. Or if you use PNC, there's an ATM less than a block away. Great food, won't break the bank. Definitely worth checking out!

Beef Pho (L) & Chicken Pho (R)...

Stopped here for lunch, only because we tried going to Tram's, but they were closed for vacation. The Pho was pretty good. I had the Beef Pho, and my friend had the Chicken Pho. The basil, bean-sprouts, and limes were very fresh and served on a separate plate, so you could add as much or as little as you wanted. I felt that the service needed some improvement, as the server seemed pretty curt with us, and she a little slow to bring us our check even after she saw that we were finished. Otherwise, I thought it was A-OK. Update: Several hours later, I started getting a headache, and I am not exactly sure of the cause, but one of my migraine triggers is MSG. I woke up in the middle of the night with a full-blown migraine, so I cannot say for sure, but it might be that there was MSG in the pho. Sadly, I didn't even think to ask when I ordered for no MSG, as I thought most places stopped using it these days. Again, can't say for sure, but I would caution you to ask if you decide to go, and are allergic to MSG.

Vermicelli with pork and shrimp - don't recommend
Derek Y.

** Cash only and a bit sketchy and run down. Recommend pho options... don't get the vermicelli bowls. I've gotten both the pho here as well as the vermicelli bowl with shrimp and pork. The pho was passable, which is why I'm giving it three stars but the vermicelli bowl really wasn't good. The sauce in the vermicelli bowl was way too sweet, and the noodles were extremely bland. The pork was dry as well, and the dried bean sprouts just made the overall taste seem very dry. Cash only is another downside and the place isn't the most clean. I wish Pittsburgh had more pho options :(. (Or good ones at least)

As a new Pittsburgher, I am on a serious quest for a perfect bowl of pho. Pho Minh was the second restaurant I tried and I was only slightly disappointed because they did not have tendon nor shrimp wrapped with sugar cane But, the shrimp wrapped with beef was definitely a great substitute. The broth was flavorful and I appreciate the large amount of jalapeños and basil, the last place I went gave us 4 leaves, no kidding. Back to my pho, the rare beef was good; wish I had more and the tripe was chewy and plentiful. Next time I'll order extra beef, I mean it's only $4. The price, oh the price made the bowl that much sweeter. It's a comforting bowl of soup, it should range between 7-8.50, not 12-15 (without extras). I'll definitely be back.

Pho Dac Biet

We came here on New Year's eve to have one of our favorite dishes pho. Having never eaten here I was excited for what hailed to be a tasty meal per many reviewers. The place was fairly busy but there were still tables available. It's a small front, not very clean looking but sort of what I have come to expect in these old school establishments so it certainly wasn't turning me off. No that didn't happen until later. We were "greeted" by a lady who was a one man band. By greeted I mean confirmed we were people of two and we indeed wanted to sit down. We were pointed to a four top and given menus. Our Hostess, server, and cashier was very curt. This could be for many reasons. Perhaps she was having a bad day, or was overwhelmed with the ¾ full dining room, or flat out hates her job. Maybe it was us. I can't be certain, all I can say is I felt completely ignored and unwelcomed from the time we were seated until we left. As usual when eating Asian we opted for some fresh summer rolls. I also ordered the Pho Dac Biet. I made sure to ask that I receive the traditional add ins of bean sprouts, lime, basil, mint, jalapeno ECT. She brazenly took our order and I asked for 2 waters. She didn't much acknowledge me and left to return with hot tea, which we noticed everyone had so it was complimentary. Ok that's nice and all but I wanted water. We wait a while and our summer rolls come out, and no water. I said again can I please get two waters. She again doesn't acknowledge me and returns with one lukewarm water with a lowly ice cube floating on top. She also slaps down one serving of Pho add in's though two Pho dishes were ordered. I guess here they expect you to share everything? To make matters worse the toppings were sitting in a small pool of water and were simply bean sprouts two wedges of lime, and some basil. I was disappointed that it didn't include additional toppings that many other Vietnamese restaurants offer with their pho, but I also knew saying anything was of no use and could make matters worse. Onto the food. The rolls were poorly wrapped and lacked herbs for my taste though my husband was satisfied. The peanut sauce was a joke and looked like an afterthought. Full size peanuts floating on top of a thick overly sweet sauce. For the pho. It was a good ratio of noodles to broth which is appreciated. I thought in the world of pho's this one ranked about middle of the pack. The price wasn't bad but it really could have had a little more flavor. The broth was somewhat bland and I added hoisin and sriracha from the overly sticky condiment containers left at the table to help it out. It was doable, but mostly I just wanted to leave. My husband always asks for a fork with his pho since he is chopstick challenged but with the less than stellar service he opted to struggle with the chops to avoid approaching the unapproachable server. No sooner did we finish that she dropped the check off and said Happy New Year and walked away. Most definitely the nicest and most scripted thing she said the whole visit. Too bad the pho couldn't bring this review up a star or two. Sadly it wasn't and there will be no repeat visit from us in the new year and years to come.

Spring rolls with shrimp and pork

We like to eat Pho on New Year's Eve so we found this place on Yelp and gave it a try. Parking was easy because it was after 6 and street parking was free. We walked in and it was three quarters full. Not a huge place. We saw a worker towards the back so we walked towards her and she just asked "two"? We said yes and she sat us down at a 4 seater next to the wall. She was the hostess/waitress and she waited on the whole room. She wasn't too friendly. She wasn't mean but she wasn't real approachable. We had to ask for water a few times and she only gave us one glass. You really didn't want to ask her for anything eventually. I don't know if that's just how she is or she had a problem with us but I think it was more how she was and it could be the norm here. I don't know. We started off with Fresh spring rolls with shrimp and pork in them. We received two and it was good. We both thought that it was poorly wrapped but I thought it tasted good to start out our meal. I ordered the Pho ga (Chicken) and my wife got beef pho. It didn't take too long for our food to come out. We got a plate of basil, bean sprouts, and limes to put in our pho. I didn't put anything in mine besides lime but my wife used most of it. I thought the pho was really good. The broth was tasty and I ate it all. The chicken came in strips and I had no problem eating it. The bowl wasn't as big as we have had pho in other restaurants but it was plenty. We were really full afterwards I thought overall the food was good so like a 6 or 7 out of 10. We just didn't feel real welcomed and our waitress wasn't too helpful so it brought the experience down.

Pho Dac Biet: translates to "Special Pho". Generous portion size and broth wasn't over-powered by MSG

One of the better Vietnamese food in Pittsburgh so far. Very small shop but nice atmosphere. The highlight was definitely the banh mi.

We had the "egg rolls". They are in actuality Cha Gio. Not Chinese restaurant type egg rolls. In other restaurants they are called "spring rolls" (deep fried) . Here apparently the spring rolls are the fresh uncooked rolls. The Cha Gio were good! Note--CASH ONLY. We didn't realize this until we sat down. Fortunately we had enough green paper. And there is an ATM near by per the staff. Also note the prices on the menu are not what they are charging for some things. And things look to have gotten more expensive. As example. The wonton soup is $13 on the physical in restaurant menu but $15 on our bill. And I saw an online picture of the menu of $1.95 for the egg rolls and spring rolls. They are now $6 on the current menu. This is an old school Vietnamese hole in the wall pho place. Paper napkins, plastic chop sticks and vinyl table cloths. 5/5 for what it is. Would definitely return for the Cha Gio. Kid gives thumbs up for the Pho and would Return for that also.

It is pretty small inside and there are a few tables outside. You order at the counter or can order by phone or online. Usually I order online and every time I have walked in to find it bagged and ready to go. They did change ordering systems a few months ago which had a few kinks to work out. The food is mostly sandwiches and rice or vermicelli bowls. There also is soup, summer rolls and a cucumber salad. In addition they have coffee and tea, lemonade and bubble tea. I have not tried any drinks but I would like to. My go to is the Feelin' Tofu Banh Mi which has the tofu, veggies and yummy sauce and I like to add some jalapeños for some kick. The bread is flavorful with a little crunch that holds up pretty well. The veggies give such a light tasty crunch. I do feel that the sandwich could do with a little more on it portion wise both for value but also to be more balanced with the amount of bread. It is a tasty sandwich though. We also like to get the tofu summer rolls. The balance here can be a bit off with too much lettuce. However, the sauce is absolutely delicious and could make just about anything taste good. This is a great place to stop by for lunch or dinner (but beware they close at 6) or just to grab a drink during the day. We like to pick up the food to take to a brewery to eat. It is usually pretty easy to find street parking close by. Friendly service and tasty food.

It had a lot of ice, so would ask for less next time. The chicken pho had a delicious broth, and the mix-ins were already all added in when I got it. Definitely one of the cheaper places to get it so I'm not complaining and it was perfect on a cold day. Service was great, pretty quick and very accommodating. They also had a small seating area tucked in the back that was nice and quiet to get work done or chat, as well as outside too, but most people get it to go. Their bahn mi is also delicious, and definitely worth a try too!
