While doing business in the area, I was craving some good take out, but didn't want to fight city traffic for my go-to. This place was suggested by a client, and did not disappoint. Fast, friendly, and affordable. Definitely hit the spot- I will be back the next time I'm in town.

Yesterday was probably my third time eating from the Asian Café and it's pretty rocking vitals for the prices. This was my first time picking up from there as I usually send someone else, my errand running husband: ) The place is small, but there are a few tables in there if you decide you want to eat in, but It's much more popular as a take out. I didn't call ahead or order online which is super convenient and my preferred method. I figured I would pop in order two entrées and steamed dumplings, which I admit I have a huge weakness for, and wait for the meals two doors down at the well-known bar/restaurant Atria's. I ordered and paid and asked how long, she replied quickly 15 minutes, I say 15-20, she says, no! 15 minutes. Ok I was trying to stretch it a bit, possibly fitting 2 cold ones in but with the time constraint one would have to do. I returned at about the 15 minute marker and my food was packages and waiting for me. So one thing I really like about this small café is that they offer some not so usual dishes for a mostly take out Chinese restaurant. They have duck, several dish noodles, and a whole section with Thai food. This I dig. I got the Thai Pad, extra spicy, the honey glazed crispy chicken for the hub it came with rice, and of course my dumplings & extra sauce. The dumplings were a nice size for the price, and not bad. I like a little more filling but still pretty solid. The Thai Pad looked a little different than most Thai Pads I've had but it had excellent flavor and I loved everything about it. Nice spice, loved the basil, shrimp, and chicken. I tasted the honey chicken and it wasn't bad either, but I didn't dig the sweet glaze, but I know he liked it so all was really good. This place is definitely in my rotation of local restaurants.

I have stopped in here for take out a half dozen times and it's worthy. Give it a shot. Of note I usually order online and never had a mistake! I wouldn't eat in because the seating is limited. The lady at the counter could be on the Titanic and she greets you with the biggest smile. I like that! I have provided pics of my beef with broccoli, they usually add some extra veggies. I like that. The W always gets the General Tso's chicken. I would prefer she gets it hotter but it's very good. We also got the Crab Rangoon's, egg rolls and of course and fortune cookie.

Both delicious. The 17 ingredient salad is highly recommended and we could tell why. So refreshing and flavorful. It was fun finding all of the 17 ingredients. For our entrees I got the crispy shrimp and my boyfriend got the khao soi. Both left us craving more the whole drive home. Staff were so pleasant and happy to answer any questions. Beautiful restaurant, indoor and outdoor. I think next time we visit, we will have a later reservation outside to enjoy the greenery. Make a reservation at least a month in advance!! If not, there are some bar seats available but make sure to get there early.

Finally, I was determined and I booked out probably 2 1/2 months in advance.... And ended up going in the dead of winter. I know that I would've enjoyed my experience much more if we could've sat in the garden, that's probably an excellent vibe. I'm a spicy marg lover so I tried-new person same old mistakes-it didn't really strike me as spicy but more so smoky and I wanted spicy. We did the khao yum-it was unique, I think I would really have loved this. If it was hot out it seems like it would be very refreshing and light and more ideal for the spring and summer and like I said we went in the dead of winter. I did the beef tenderloin as my main and it was good, it wasn't too spicy, had a nice flavor, but I don't know that I would order it again. If it wasn't so hard to get a reservation, I would definitely come here more. I really liked the vibe and the aesthetic.

I asked our waiter if the portion size of chirashi was good and he said it's a good size and that they have carry out boxes if I don't finish. Tell me why this was the smallest chirashi I have ever seen anywhere. The slices of fish were thinner than the sliced ginger. If you stacked all of the slices, it would make a normal size of one piece of nigiri. The slice of tuna was so thin, you could see through it, much less taste it. I was still starving after and got the fried chicken nuggets which were a good portion, with good crunch. The sauce on the chicken was devoid of flavor except for the SALT. They were even able to take the chicken flavor away from the meat which is kind of an accomplishment in itself. My friend got the Sichuan pork dumplings and the dumplings were drowning in soy sauce so much so that you couldn't taste the Sichuan spice (if there was any). There's a sushi restaurant nearby that gives me food poisoning every time I eat there and I would have much rather have eaten there than Soba. I would definitely recommend this place to my enemies because they'll leave broke and still hungry.

The ginger dressing was very light and zesty and not so much peanut-flavored like you typically get. The miso soup was very rich and savory. As for the entrée, the Bento box had the red curry chicken with vegetables, spring roll with plum sauce, rice, and some sushi. Everything in the box was fresh, quality ingredients. I especially liked the crispy spring roll (not greasy and had great flavor). The sushi didn't miss either. For the red curry, was milder than I was expecting and would have liked a little more pepper spice to it. But it was still pretty good. The hot tea I ordered didn't taste like typical hot tea; something almost earthy and nutty about it, but it was delicious. The people working at the restaurant were gracious and speedy with the service (it's a family business which is always good to see). I'd love to come again next time I'm up here and try more sushi dishes. Great place!
