For takeout Chinese restaurant, pretty good. Moo shu pork - Delicious! Came with tortilla like wraps. Sweet, savory goodness. Eggplant with garlic sauce - Damn who knew vegetables could taste this good? Saved the leftovers and reheated them the next day, and it was still good. Mapo tofu - It was good but wasn't my favorite. It was okay. More takeout Chinese version than the kind you would get from a restaurant specializing in authentic Chinese cuisine. Overall, good stuff. If you're craving takeout Chinese food then look no further. If you're looking for something more authentic, there are better alternatives. read more

Solid spot for mediocre Chinese food. I go here like once a year, usually when I'm craving indulgent Chinese-adjacent food crafted to please the palette of the American masses. On this trip I got General Tso Tofu and the Eggplant with garlic, plus tofu. They tasted surprisingly similar for two very different dishes. The general tso sauce was super sweet and not at all spicy--not what I thought it would be, but also not unpleasant. Topped with abundant sriracha chili sauce, both dishes hit the spot. The guy working the counter was nice. There are tables if people want to dine in, but the place is built for takeout. It's in a shopping plaza, so there is plenty of parking. I wanted to find a Chinese restaurant on the way home to get egg rolls and Chinese style fried chicken to go with the chicken fried rice that I was making from scratch at home. Long story short I should have made EVERYTHING myself. This was the worse fried chicken at an Asian restaurant that I have ever sampled in life! It had no flavor and was super tiny. I could easily get chicken wings from the store bigger than what they served. It didn't even look like it came from a chicken. The egg rolls weren't good either. I won't be coming back. read more

Decent food for a good price. The food here is quite a good deal, and the spot is pretty confident for those working in the area or just coming out from a workout at the the Plant Fitness. I ordered the chicken egg rolls and the pad Thai with chicken. This is not a Thai place, so I did not have very high expectations for the pad Thai. It did look delicious on the menu. However, I was a bit let down. The noodles themselves were fine. The sauce was somewhat acidic and had almost a powdery texture to it. It was not dry, though, which I can definitely appreciate. The main issue was the chicken. It was stringy, rubbery, and seemed to be breaded - which is a bit strange for chicken pad Thai. There also was not a way to select tofu as a pad Thai protein online, and I was really in the mood for fried tofu pad Thai. Good portion. The chicken rolls were amazing, though! Probably some of the best spring or egg I've had in a long time. They were still steamy and warm when I received my order. The outside was nice and crunchy. The inside was filled with juicy chicken and a fair amount of vegetables. It was flavorful, not too oily, and just very well balanced. Came with a bunch of complimentary sauces, like duck and mustard sauce. Definitely get these! All in all, not a bad spot for Chinese or other Asian takeout. I would probably stick to the Chinese menu, though, as I think they specialize in that. Good prices and portion, okay food quality. The chicken rolls are stellar. read more

Great Chinese takeout place! Hunan Cafe is located in the Edgewood Town Center and has authentic Chinese dishes. I ordered the Taiwan Mei Fun with beef and loved it, it didn't feel too greasy or too salty like some other takeout places. I also got an order veggie rolls and they were amaaazing, hot and fresh! The portions are pretty big for the affordable price. Staff was very kind, you can also order ahead online or over the phone. The inside is very clean and spaced out and staff wore masks. We were in Pittsburg for the weekend and since it was raining we decided to go to the waterfront mall. We aren't much for chain restaurants and had a craving for Chinese. After a little googling we landed on Hunan Cafe. I'm not lying when I say this is the best Chinese food we've ever had. Hands down, THE best! We ordered Moo Shu chicken and Hunan Chicken. The large portions were fresh and delicious. They were loaded with chicken and fresh vegetables. The cafe was clean and the service was friendly. 10/10 for Covid friendliness, may be the best I've seen. Social distancing is enforced, sanitizer is provided, even sanitized and not sanitized pens are separated for signing your check. Food was prepared fresh and quick and the portion size is plenty for two. I had the sesame chicken and white rice, and both were top notch. This place recently opened in Edgewood Town Center. I ordered takeout from their website and it was promptly ready in 10 minutes. I had the seafood udon noodle stir fry and the Beef Chow Fun and both were excellent. Prices are reasonable and portions are large. You can also go in to place a take out order--for COVID restrictions they require masks and have a counter setup by the door where an order can be placed. No indoor seating currently. read more

This is a step above the competition. We live in Forest Hills and tried this newish spot for the first time tonight. We ordered egg rolls, hot and sour soup, wonton soup, general tso's chicken, hunan chicken and chicken chow mein. Everything was great. I've gotten takeout from here four times now, and each just as good as the last. Huge portions and great prices. I was pleasantly surprised by how much meat was in the dishes, because usually when I order lo mein with chicken elsewhere, there's like four pieces. This is a great spot that I am super happy about opening up in my neighborhood. I used to have to order out to How Lee to get my American Chinese takeout fix. Now I can get my lo mein delivered for less than $3. I will be eating so much more lo mein now... I tried the orange chicken. Points for using real oranges, but it was heavy on the ginger and shy on salt. It's not the messy soy sauced orange chicken you're craving. Then again, I'm ok with msg, it gets a bad rep for no reason. The other complaint I have is that they could expand their menu to include more actual Chinese dishes. This restaurant is a keeper for sure. Everyone was masked up and they were sterilizing the counters when I walked in. The food was ready in ten minutes and delicious. It's not as greasy as the other Chinese restaurants I've come to know in the area. The dumplings were definitely home made. The sesame chicken was crispy and the sauce wasn't too sticky. The crispy beef was to die for. Also a huge fan of the beef and broccoli and chicken with garlic sauce. Literally every entree we had was fantastic. I 100% recommended this restaurant. read more
