Viet Special Banh Mi

Great place for lunch in lawrenceville! Quick service where you go up and order from the counter and there's a few tables in the back. I got a Banh mi which came with lots of toppings. Staff were super nice and brought us all waters.

I'm absolutely THRILLED that Banh Mi & Ti's dining room is open again!! As a second generation Vietnamese American, Vietnamese food is my ultimate comfort food and there's nothing like some phở on a blustery cold day. The food was delicious and it came out quickly, what more can you ask for!

food is given in takeout form, good bahn mi but pho is ok. some seats in the back but i think takeout bahn mi is worth it

Friendly service and decent bahn mi. There was something a little sweet on the sandwich that I don't normally love, but it wasn't overpowering. My son loved the "strawberry juice" (boba tea without the tea and only the flavoring). The sandwich was solid and the pork was plentiful. If I returned, I would ask for a little less of the sweet sauce and a little more cilantro.

My wife and I are visiting my son who recently moved to the area to start his medical fellowship at a nearby hospital. His new apartment is nearby and we wanted a quick lunch while running errands. We ended up at Banh Mi & Ti. We have eaten all over Vietnam so we know what to expect and this was a relatively tame and westernized version of what we have come to understand is the classic street fare. Lovely folks working behind the counter and the drinks seemed to be a big seller here, we just had the Sammie's which were good but nothing special IMHO. We tried three different versions - the classic original - which typically should have pate on it, this had a firm and tasteless head cheese, the one with beef which was moist and more flavorful and then a third with roasted pork belly. All could have benefited with spicy peppers IMHO and more fillings. Good not great. We also tried the shrimp rolls and cucumber salad both needed more herbs and marination time.

There are so few banh mi places in Pittsburgh so I'm really glad I finally went to this one! It's a really small shop in Lawrenceville with no indoor seating but a few outdoor tables outside. The place is small so the line usually goes out the door, but it moves pretty fast. We went at lunchtime and didn't have to wait too long to snag a table and order. The sandwiches are pretty large and filling and definitely worth the price! It's filled with lots of veggies that taste fresh. Bread texture is crusty but still chewy -- the type that leaves crumbs all over you when you bite into it. They also serve a variety of Vietnamese drinks/coffees as well as bowls. Definitely satisfied my banh mi craving :)

When in the Lawrenceville neighborhood, this is my go-to fast casual lunch spot. The baguette for the bread of the Bahn Mi is crunchy on the outside and deliciously soft inside. I get the colorful decaffeinated Pea Flower tea to drink (a rare find locally) and they also offer bubble tea and Vietnamese coffee. The service is always welcoming and quick. They have a few tables for outdoor seating on a nice day.

The food here was fresh and absolutely amazing! The location provides counter service. It was very close to our Airbnb so we picked up our order and then ate at the Airbnb. There is no inside seating but there are a few outside tables. They do a bustling take out business. We ordered the veggie and shrimp spring rolls, the Viet and classy chic bahn mi. Fabulous!

Was craving a Banh Mi before a tattoo appointment. This place was convieniently on Bulter street. We ordered right before they opened from their website. We arrived right at 11 and our tea was already ready. We had to wait a little bit longer for out sandwiches but they were overall very quick. We took our meal back to our Airbnb. My sandwich was really delicious except the end of the bread was little hard and dry. Once you got past the end, the tofu was nice and warm and the saucy was perfectly sweet and savoury. I added jalapeno which honestly was not that spicy in a good way. Just the right amount of heat. My bubble tea was also really good and refreshing. Not too sweet and they gave a lot of bubbles. I would definitely recommend this place even though it's not the best banh mi I have ever had.

My first time at this spot and I will be back sooner rather than later! I got the beef pho and it was fantastic as well as the fresh shrimp summer rolls! It was a beautiful day so we sat outside! They were some of the kindest souls working there and I'm so happy to support their small women owned business

This is one of my favorite places in Pittsburgh for bubble tea. I usually get the "Sophia Drink" which includes pea flower tea, oat milk, black sugar, and boba. It's a delicious treat especially after a tough work out at a nearby gym. The staff inside are always very friendly and more than willing to help explain anything on their menu and make recommendations if you are undecided. They have plenty of dairy free options for their drinks, including almond milk and oat milk. I'm not really a big fan of banh mi sandwiches in general, from any place (including in Vietnam when I visited a few years ago), so I don't hold that against them. But people are always ordering their signature Vietnamese sandwiches and seem to really enjoy them. So, if you like banh mi, I'm sure they do a great job here. Overall this is a great place in Lawrenceville that has been around for a few years now and hopefully will be around for many more years to come!

Feelin' Tofu Banh Mi

Their Feelin' Tofu Banh Mi is my favorite go-to in Pittsburgh for a quick lunch. It's overall very good except for the size. It's smaller than average so usually I'll have two.

The second Vietnamese place I've tried in the city. It was pretty good, although I think I might prefer the other place (Pho and Roll) a tad bit more. Nonetheless, I ordered the vermicelli bowl in the 'pork n roll' style (without lettuce) as well as the black tea mango boba/bubble tea with passion fruit pop boba. The vermicelli noodles were pretty good, and came in a good portion. The price is quite fair for the portion. The carrots were delicious. Very well marinated and the perfect balance of savoriness to sweetness. Crunchy and fresh. The sauce was also pretty good. I will say, it's on the sweet side. Personally, I like my sauces sweeter though, so it wasn't a problem. Decent amount of sauce too. What I wasn't that big of a fan of was, unfortunately, the meat. It was hard and kind of chewy, not tender. Also, the flavor was kind of strange, almost stale-tasting. It didn't take like the maple sugar-flavored meat I thought it was going to be. But, the meat portion was solid. Finally, I thought the boba was really good. I know some people come here just for the boba, and I can see why. It's not overly sweet and has a great flavor. I couldn't really taste the bitterness in the black tea, which is good. Tasted mainly just like mango. And the popping boba is amazing! Soft and easy to pop, great fruity flavor. All in all, a nice spot for Vietnamese sandwiches and bowls. Do not overlook the boba, as that's really good. Fresh and decent prices. Pork isn't the best.

I honestly have not been in the area much lately and was surprised to see its prime location on South Highland in that East Liberty, Shadyside and Friendship corridor. The inside of the shop was packed by the time we got inside so I did not get to see much of it other than the coffee bar and the large selection of baked goods. For my coffee this morning I went with a butter beer cold brew while my wife went with an iced Almond Joy latte. The menu described mine as cold brew with butterscotch syrup and cheesecake sweet cream. My wife's was described as just like the candy bar with dark chocolate and coconut topped with coconut flakes. My coffee actually ended up tasting pretty good. The butterscotch tasted somewhat similar to caramel but the cold brew was definitely the star. It was rich and strong which I always appreciate. The cheesecake sweet cream was also a nice addition as it was sweet like you would expect but also had a bit of tartness that reminded me of actual cheesecake. My wife also enjoyed her coffee and especially liked the combination of chocolate, coconut and coffee flavors. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. My wife and I both enjoyed our drinks and I would definitely be interested in trying some of the pastries next time.

After walking around the neighborhood, this one had seating, so we went inside. First, I'll say the coffee we tried was pretty good - a cappuccino and a brown sugar cinnamon latte. The barista asked "for here or to go" and the drinks still came in a paper cup anyway despite us saying "for here". I really enjoy having a coffee in an actual glass/mug when I say "for here". The ambiance was a bit confusing... not really sure what they were going for in the space, things were a bit choppy and thrown together. Kinda felt like you were in someone's garage with cluttered items on rickety shelves behind the counter. Our barista was very nice, but an awkward moment occurred when they were ringing us up - barista asked for a tip but then told us not to put the tip on the credit card because the owner steals from them. We felt this was a little uncomfortable and gave some unwelcoming energy. We also tried a Nutella croissant, which was very good! I think this shop has a lot of potential with some changes to service and decor.

In truth,…read moreit's such a favorite of mine that I headed there straight from the airport on my most recent visit. The cool vibe restaurant is tucked away up a short flight of stairs on Filbert Street. It gives the place a cozy, hideaway feel with brick walls and murals. It's pretty popular, so you might have to wait a few minutes for a table, but it moves pretty quick. The menu focuses heavily on crepes and French toast, and they do both very well. I went for a savory crepe that was loaded with eggs and topped with a rich sauce and diced vegetables. It came with a side of fresh fruit which was a nice touch. We also ordered a sweet crepe to share. It was beautifully presented with chocolate drizzle, berry sauce, and a massive pile of whipped cream. The coffee is solid too. Verdict: This is a consistent and reliable brunch spot. It was the perfect way to kick off my trip. I will definitely be back next time I am in town.

But the star of the show for me is the Shakshouka. I have gotten it the last 2 times I went. You also have to try their Dirty Chai. My only critique is the hostess at the front. She appeared overwhelmed by her role and was not warm. We were actually told by the waiters that "she is serious about her list". Which would be great if she managed it effectively. When I brought concerns that we had been pushed down the list 3 times for other parties. She responded "well, how do you know that" to which I responded "we watched you take their names down after ours and sit them before us". Her response was to shoo me off and tell me to go find a table myself; to which I did. But what a poor way to manage your stress, responsibility, and consumers. On the bright side my waiter/waitress was awesome per usual.
