This is a hard review for me to write, but one I feel I need to do. Overall, the level of health care I have received from Physicians Immediate Care has been excellent. Everyone I've spoken with at the location have been professional and friendly. However, their records accessibility policy is ridiculous. They use a version of Epic (the most common software in the US) for their EHR. However, they do not offer a patient portal. Epic's portal is called MyChart and is offered by basically every major provider who uses Epic. Even their competitor CVS Minute Clinic offers MyChart records access. I once called to ask Physicians Immediate Care to send my health records to my PCP. I was told they charge a fee for this, basically because they can, and when I asked the person I was speaking with why they don't use MyChart they actually told me "because the records belong to us". In fact, failing to offer one seems to be in opposition to the Meaningful Use portion of EHR Incentive Program Stage 3. Maybe they don't take advantage of any of the Medicare and Medicaid incentives? I don't know, but failing to offer a patient portal strikes me as hopelessly anachronous. The message I get is they are so greedy for every cent they charge a fee to send records when seemingly everyone else offers online portal access for free. Records copying fees are "allowed" in many states, but are part of laws passed long ago when records were on paper and people had to physically photocopy them. So I tend to avoid Physicians Immediate Care now and go to CVS. read more

Came in at 7:15PM after slamming my finger in a door. They wouldn't even look at my finger because "there was no X-Ray team". I clearly stated I knew my finger was not broken as it had full range of motion and was only concerned about needing stitches. THEY WOULD NOT EVEN LOOK AT IT and said ER was only option. After finally finding a provider WILLING TO HELP they let me know stitches were not needed and an X-Ray was a ridiculous idea. Horrible service. I could also hear the staff talking about me in the back which felt unkind and unprofessional. It was a bad experience, especially when I just wanted help. read more

Honestly this place is clean and to the point IF you find yourself and need and IF it is urgent lol. Street parking can be found directly outside the front of the building and I would advise to schedule online so you can sort of gauge when to arrive and not anticipate having to wait while the meter is running. Establishment is a tad dated, however, this is the ONLY urgent care in the South Loop area that stays open until around 8pm and is open on the weekends. I visited this location in January 2025. I received a bill for my visit. I communicated to them that my insurance should be paying, and I confirmed they had my correct insurance information. I then confirmed with my insurance, who promptly paid the bill in its entirety. Even after payment was complete by my insurance though, Physicians Immediate Care kept sending me notices of the same bill via mail. I called them again and confirmed with them over the phone that my insurance had paid the bill. I then forgot about it, thinking everything was settled, until yesterday, when I was contacted by a debt collections agency about the same bill. I confirmed again that my insurance had already paid the bill months ago. Physicians Immediate Care literally sent me to COLLECTIONS for something my insurance paid months ago. Do not go here. This is beyond absurd and I am going to have to sue them and the debt collections agency to restore my credit. I am an attorney so thankfully have the resources to do this on my own, but this is beyond unacceptable. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

You're better off waiting hours at an ER. FIrst off, both times I've gone I've waited SO long even when I had an appointment. Second time, I heard the staff singing happy birthday and eating cake while I was hacking a lung and waiting to be seen for over an hour. Then I get a bill for $100. I call the billing department who told me that if I pay the minimum and keep paying it off it won't go to collections. Cool. I have receipts of paying the minimum and other payments off. I get a call from a debt collector saying they sent it for the full balance of $100.....what?! I only had like $50 to go. They are greedy scum and don't care about you or your health. I'm looking into my legal options and contacted the medical board with all my proof. Do NOT go here. Stay far far away. Go to the ER!!! read more

My husband had sprained/strained or possibly torn his achilles and when we pulled up to the center at 7:50, eased him out the car, and tried to get to the door, they had turned off the light out front and locked the door. Standing in the vestibule, looking dead at us talking about "we're closed." It was cruel and callus and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone after that. Go somewhere else. Hopefully somewhere that cares about patients and individuals. read more

I visited this place with my daughter about 5-6 years ago. At that time it was efficient, orderly, professional and no long time waiting. I see this has all change. I did go back about two years ago with my daughter and after a few minutes there, decided to leave, the vibes there were not the same. This place is not the quickest. The best way to get in is to reserve your spot online as soon as possible. It's essentially an appointment slot. I understand that it may not be the quickest experience, but it's an urgent care in a large city. That's not unusual. I have had nothing but fabulous experiences at this location. I'm giving this company 1 star because their billing department is essentially nonexistent if you need to contact them. I had a problem with my insurance, and when I called to talk to their billing department, twice I couldn't get through, and the third time I was on hold for 50 minutes. The woman who answered took my info and said she had to talk with her office, and they would follow up with me. They never did. I also sent emails to their billing office, and apart from the automatic reply promising to follow up, they never replied. Don't ever use the State street Acute Care #physiciansimmediatecare. They won't share your X-rays with other doctors. Told me to wait 30 days for them to get in the system. 3.5 stars. This place must be understaffed; I don't think there are enough doctors/health care professionals to see all the patients in a timely fashion. Even though I made an appointment, I waited about 2 hours to be seen. Once I finally was examined, things went pretty smoothly, the doctor was great, the nurse who did my vitals was good, too. My symptoms were headache, chest tightness/congestion and cough so I got a Covid test just in case, turns out it's a common cold which was a relief. Again, once I finally got into an exam room things went well, but the 2-hour wait was brutal. The receptionist was meh, not overly friendly but not all-out rude either. The PA worked hard to find where I could get the prescription immediately, and he was professional and friendly. The person who performed the lab draw was great and professional as well. The big issue that inspired me come write a review is the disappointing experience from the billing department. Incredibly rude and refused my insurance agent (United Health Care) and I service. I was on the phone with my insurance agent and we felt like this guy Philipe (I believe his name was) was not the most knowledgeable about our concerned topic so we kindly asked to speak to someone else, ideally a higher up. And he said verbatim "I'm not gonna do that, and even if I did, they will say the same thing". Finding someone else who could help me became a huge annoying puzzle. Please take note: They will not verbally tell you that you may pay more if you use your insurance, which any other company is transparent about sharing this info. It was 3x cheaper for me to pay out of pocket, and billing refused to update / create a new claim in order to not attach my insurance. To add one other thing, my insurance nor I paid a single cent yet at this point. It felt like an absolute scam when billing said, once a claim is processed and its been done correctly (on their behalf) there is nothing they can do.. An absolute sleazeball of a company. read more

I would highly recommend you do not do a COVID test in this facility unless you have no other option. I had a 3 pm COVID test scheduled and was not admitted until 4 pm. In addition to that, while waiting I had to stay in the entrance of a parking lot - as the facility could not accommodate waiting COVID patients. When asking to talk to a manager I was told one was not available - and the clinical employee that talked to me was not helpful. I called to inquire about an appointment and the receptionist said you didn't need an appointment so I didn't bother to make one. I show up and there was only one person waiting in the lobby so I thought the wait wouldn't be so bad. Of course 5 other people come in and get called up before me. I'm assuming they had appointments. I wish the receptionist would have just asked me what time I wanted my appointment over the phone. Here I am 2 hours later...still waiting and not even sure if I am next. horrible. Never coming here again. Being up front with your wait time would be appreciated. This place is absolutely horrible. I get to the clinic as a walk at 8am. They were not open. There was no personnel at the front desk to do checkins until 8:10-8:15. I went in today (Saturday early afternoon) for a laceration and I knew I needed stitches. I cut my finger on a soup can lid. I debated going to the ER and after visiting their web site, I decided to go in. The front desk intake woman was awesome, kind, patient, helpful and she explained the process. I have never been to an urgent care (I usually go to ER for these types of things). She is terrific and made a wonderful impression. The assistant and physician were all extremely calming and professional. I received 5 stitches on my finger and a teatnus shot. The Doctor explained the procedure and addressed my concerns very well. I waited about an hour or so to see the doctor, but I was a walk-in/new patient. I was very pleased with this facility ( clean and organized) and will be back in a week to have my stitches removed. read more

Sent by future employer to get a test. Arrived did the first part came back for part two And was told the information that I was given was incorrect. I wasted time and $20 dollars in parking. I got the help I needed, eventually. The women at the front desk was very kind but was coughing everywhere. She also held on to my ID & Credit Card as I was filling out paperwork, which I didn't feel 100% comfortable with. I made an appointment online and still waited for 40 minutes AND it was not busy. I came here for the first time today, and will likely be back the next time that I am feeling sick. I am a fan of bullet point lists, so let me break it down for you: - You can reserve your appointment online (highly recommended) - You can check wait times online - Check in process is quick - Convenient location (parking and public transit) - The clinic is clean - The staff there are all very nice, knowledgeable, and helpful - Free WiFi - Pharmacy inside the clinic! They have most standard medications on site, so you don't have to walk to another pharmacy to get them. HUGE pro. I left with my three prescribed medications. I went in as a referral and sat there for over 2 hours...watching as my name was listed at 0-10 minutes but they managed to call about 4 others in front of me. I realized 3 out of the 4 had appointments but I went up to ask how much longer it would take because I was listed as next with 0-10 minute wait for over 20 minutes. They then called the person after me listed as a walk-in. The place wasn't very busy, at most 2-4 people waiting which included me. The place was filthy as well. Went to the restroom and the toilet had blue smears al over the seat. Although you could tell it was cleaning fluids, at lesser wipe it down. Staff was below par and rude. I had asked how long the wait would be and they said they couldn't tell me it was up to the people in the back. I asked if they could go ask and the response was that they don't tell reception. I left and went to my general practitioner. DONT GO WITHOUT AN APPOINTMENT OR AS A LAST RESORT! read more

I've come here around 5 times in the past year for random things like strep throat and physicals for school and work. Always thought it was really reliable until today. I made an appointment online for 1pm and wasn't seen until 2:20. When I asked why so many people were being taken in me they said that all those people made appointments as well and they were running very far behind. It would've been nice to receive a phone call considering they knew they were behind and I was trying to get this done on my break at school and a physical is a very fast appointment typically. I was also notified for the first time in all the times I've been here that I had a balance over $200 and I couldn't get an explanation as for why. Now I have to go through the trouble of calling the billing department. On the bright side the Doctors and PAs I've seen here are knowledgeable and have a good bed side manner. There is no parking here and street parking is expensive, over $8 for two hours. read more

Do not waste your time or money. Saw Dr Benjamin Jones today for knee pain, after moving. After 2 and a half hours and x-rays, I was handed an ace bandage and told to go to another facility for a knee brace so they would charge my insurance and not pay out of pocket. I went to said location for the knee brace and was told they could charge me regular price, but could not charge my insurance. I called back to let the Dr know that the place he sent me, on an injured knee would not be able to charge my insurance, but that I would have to pay out of pocket? Dr Benjamin Jones told me I was wrong or I went to the wrong place. I handed the people I was sent to his paperwork and showed them the address. I was not in the wrong place. They told me to call my insurance provider and seek their advice as there was nothing they could do for me. Thank you Dr Benjamin Jones, for charging me for a visit that was useless. Last words from his mouth were use the brace, if it feels better than you can stop. Solid medical advice. Stay away from this place unless you have money and time to burn. I wish I could give ZERO stars. I almost forgot, I was also advised to take whatever migraine medicine I had for the pain. Not sure if this guy is used to treating drug addicts or just didn't know how to prescribe medication to someone that already had prior prescriptions. read more
