They have moved heaven and earth to have a minimum number of employees, so after awhile I found myself screaming at robots.The menus they offer to move you through the line do not address my needs, and probably not those of many people. Made an appointment, I had to wait 30 minutes to finally get in. Once in I had a very important call that I had to take, I was gone for 30 seconds, they then put me to the back of the line which was for an hour later!! Horrific customer service, everyone in the waiting room was also very upset at their terrible service. Whomever manages this place should be fired. read more

I've attempted to take a urine test 4 times now. This location moves very slowly so please make sure you have enough time and have nothing else to do when coming here. Also, if you are a single parent arrange for a sitter as they do not allow you to bring a minor when drug testing. I scheduled an appointment and the location was behind almost 30 minutes. This is a great Quest location! A couple of the other ones I've been to are in giant medical buildings with paid parking, but this has a free parking lot out front and is super quick and easy to get into. I came in for a re-weigh after another location botched my measurement. I checked in my scanning my appointment QR code at one of the two checkin terminals. My name went up on the TV and I sat down at one of the socially distanced chairs. My wait time was listed as 2 minutes and I was called back after about 1. The technician was super friends and greeted me warmly. She took me back and weighed me in right away, and double checked she had all my info correct. I was then free to go, all within 5 minutes. I will definitely be returning to this location from now on, as opposed to the Blackhawk location. It's the best! read more

She took the time to explain everything in detail, was so incredibly sweet and patient, and made sure that everyone left knowing everything they need to know before leaving. My doctor requested I use this facility to get lab work completed. I was able to easily book a 7:45 am appointment online for a Friday in June. When I arrived I was surprised to see they have a parking lot. Upon arrival they had a self service check in machine. I was called promptly around 7:45 for my appt. In the lab room the technician took my insurance, information, payment and drew my blood. I was out the door at 7:55. I did overhear a technician telling someone that Saturday's are their busiest day and that sometimes there is a line out the door with people waiting before they open at 7 am. I have blue cross/blue shield ppo insurance and my bill was under $20 for a $1200 bill. So check with your insurance as to what they cover. I'd highly recommend making an appointment versus walking in. read more

You can have a very positive experience if you are strategic and realistic. The staff is skilled and hardworking but this place is very busy. Obviously making an appointment is ideal but if you want to just walk in like a lot of other people, be ready. Walk-ins: - If you are a walk-in, get there EARLY - If you want to walk in on a Saturday, you better be there as they are unlocking the door or you're probably looking at 60-90 minutes of wait time easily - I recommend a weekday morning for a walk-in; they open early enough for most people to be able to go before work - There is a TV monitor with the names and wait times for the next handful of people in the queue; sometimes the wait time is spot on. sometimes it's much faster - If you pick the option that says to text you because you'll be in your car, you should know that there is little to no time between receiving the text message and when they call your name - If you're not present when they call your name, they will move to the next couple people or so; they have to, it's a busy place like I said The actual appointment: - make sure you either have your paperwork from your doctor or that they faxed it in advance - have your health insurance card handy if you have one - have your form of payment ready if you have one (I only know for sure they take credit cards since that's what I used) - if you are getting your blood drawn, I just like to share that the recommendation is to drink 1 liter of water the night before and then also day of - I applaud and appreciate the skills of the staff here. I am a really tough stick, as in one time I went to get my blood drawn at the doctor and they were unable to get anything. Needed to do labs again for my life insurance policy. They sent me here. It's like a dystopian reception room with zero ability to interact with any human. Healthcare that looks to mitigate human interaction to maximize profit is never good. It's as if their business model is to remove human interaction from the equation. That said, once you get out of the waiting too, the technicians and providers on the other side are very personable and genuinely nice people. If corporate listens, these people are the ONLY reason for any stars. Corporate should be recognizing and rewarding them. They are your business. read more

Although the phone tree scheduling system was a nightmare ( no chance to speak with a human- and machine could not understand our name/ spelling through my mandated face covering in the lobby of the hospital I was calling from)....once we finally arrived, the staff (manager?) at Quest portage park was able to honor our appointment ( yes, we were late and they were closing in less than an hour) and draw the labs required before the next morning specialist appointment. Site is clean, draw was quick and professional. Take care to schedule appointments and honor everyones time- walk ins are not always able to be seen! I came here to get my blood drawn for several routine tests, per my doctor's request. Overall, it was a painless experience, though I was a bit nervous because I dislike needles. I chose the closest location and made an appointment online. I assumed walk-ins are accepted, on a first-come, first-served basis. However, having an appointment time secures your spot, and I would say it's recommended to do so. The male technician who greeted me was decently nice. After I signed in, he collected my ID, insurance card, and the physician's note. I then spent a few minutes watching the infomercial on TV in the waiting area. When it was my term, another technician called me in. The blood drawn began shortly after she finished the data entry. She ensured that I was alright before she officially stuck the needle into my vein. I had to give her a round of applause because she immediately found the spot. Some ER nurse from Community First Medical Center (yea, his name is nurse "Joe") poked my entire arm to look for my vein. In other words, this lady technician at this Quest Diagnostics location was way more joyful to work with. I walked out of the place at 8:20am, with an 8am appointment. Thus the entire process didn't take long at all. By the way, this location has parking. Free parking is available but that's the only plus. Unfortunately just had a really bad experience otherwise and wasted my whole morning. I'm trying to make an appointment to minimize wait time, I booked online but you cant register a minor under 13, so I made one for myself instead. I tried calling the office several times but no one ever answers the phone. When I arrived for the appointment and was taken back after about a 15 minute wait, I had to go back and re-register for my daughter's appointment, which wasn't too big of a deal. The issue was that my lab orders were submitted electronically by my doctor to Quest directly, but they were not able to take them that way. They wanted a printed out copy of lab orders so they could physically scan them into the system. When I asked if they could print them out, they said no and there's nowhere nearby to print them out. I looked at the appointment confirmation and website and nowhere does it say to bring printed out copies of your lab order, especially if it's been electronically submitted! I also explained that I tried calling several times and they said they're short staffed and are unable to answer phones during this time. I get it, everywhere is short staffed but this was such a waste of time for an easy fix. I tried contacting Quest directly, and of course there's no reply read more

I came in with a 9:15 am appointment for a 3 hour glucose tolerance test. I'm in my 30th week of pregnancy, and was NOT looking forward to this visit. As soon as I walked in, I was warmly greeted by the staff and my information was taken. Within 5 minutes of my appointment time, I was having my first of 4 blood draws done by George. He was prompt, professional, and friendly. George took the time to explain to me what to expect and when. I very much appreciated this. Over the coarse of the next three hours, George made sure to check on me to make sure I was feeling alright. While waiting in the lobby for the next 3 hours, I was able to witness the staff at this location treat every single person that walked in the door with the same professionalism and respect in which they treated me. I have notoriously difficult veins, and they were able to get the blood draw the first time. Every single time. I was very impressed with the staff at this location, especially George. Awesome place and people! I did a blood test with them without scheduling an appointment and it took only 10 minutes for all arrangement and test! Also, I had very bad experience two days earlier in doctor's office, so I was very scared and stressed. In a result I didn't feel nothing at all! Great professionals! ASTRONOMICAL charges for cash pay patients. My Dr. was astounded at the cost of routine blood work. She said that the contracted insurance rates would have only paid a fraction of what I was charged. This is the best experience I've had getting lab work in Chicago. It was clean, it offered appointments which were easily scheduled online, and even though I missed my appointment, the walk-in process was quick and efficient. The women who did my blood draw was an absolute saint. I am kicking myself for not remembering her name but she took time to make sure I was okay and talk me through the whole process. I understand that coming here for a one-time, pre-hire drug test is a little different than coming for regular blood draws, so I may be treated differently as a non-regular. However, I should still be greeted, treated politely and maybe even smiled at. The tech who assisted me wasn't exactly friendly and she didn't follow the procedure that that a) have listed on the wall and b) is common practice for collecting urine specimens (we do this at my weekend job - I KNOW the procedure). Quest Diagnostics - Location: 4126 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60641 Maria was my tech and she ROCKED the blood draw, which couldn't have been any better. Really, it was as close to painless as possible. I appreciated her skill and efficiency -- if only everyone who does clinical blood draws was as good. I checked into cost/s ahead of time. Quest is far less expensive than having lab tests done through a hospital, which makes it a good choice if you have a copay. And it was "in network" with my insurance, so I had ZERO patient responsibility for my preventive tests. Do yourself a BIG FAVOR and make an appointment in advance online or by phoning. Sign-in when you arrive & note your appointment time. You'll be called at your appointed time, ahead of any walk-ins waiting. There are signs posted all over the place about having a credit card available along with your insurance card **which wasn't noted on their website or on the appointment confirmation. But you won't be forced to cough-up a CC. I mentioned having checked with my insurance ahead of time, and 100% coverage for all preventative tests , and they had no problem with me not giving them a CC. The Parking lot is a bit small, so there may not be any open parking spaces when the waiting room is packed (as it will every Saturday morning), but there are two large handicap parking spaces right at the door. Warning!! One-Star Demerit: totally gross bathroom experience! No soap or toweling inside. What the heck?! YUCK!!! Soap and towels are located outside the bathroom, in the hallway.
