My experience was very positive. I was a walk-in, so I expected to wait, but they took me in right away. My phlebotomist was very professional, and very friendly. I warned him that I was a hard stick, but he was able to find a vein on the first try. This site was a little hard to find. It's located in a rather large office building with no signage, and the inside was a little like a maze, so make sure you remember the room number. read more

Despite the bad reviews, my experience was totally different as I walked into the office, I checked myself in at the kiosk. All the instructions were easy to follow and to check myself in. I waited approximately five minutes before my name was called. I went in and the phlebotomist was friendly and explained everything she was doing. After the blood draw, I paid my bill and left overall, I was in and out and under 15 minutes. read more

I would not recommend this location. Due to a major snowstorm, I arrived 15 minutes late for my daughter's appointment. They refused to see her. I asked if we could switch to a walk-in appointment and they said they don't take walk-in's. I asked why it said that they do take walk-in's on their website and was told that it was inaccurate, that you have to "reserve a timeslot". read more

It was easy to make an online afternoon appointment in the morning. I also appreciate a previous review advising to not park in the sheltered area since those spaces are reserved--the outdoor parking lot is plentiful. We didn't have to wait too long to be called in, from the waiting room, for a blood test once we checked in. The tech who drew the blood, Jacob, was very professional & calmed my 6 year old daughter during the process so she didn't cry:) It seems like walk-ins have to wait a long time, so it's better to make an appt beforehand. I'll be back in the future the next time one of my kids needs a blood test. read more

This place is a joke. I arrived for the appointment I booked through their central call line where I had explicitly told them the tests I needed, the nurse that admitted me said they couldn't do the tests after I fasted all day because they were closing. I explained that I gave all the details to the call center when booking and they still booked that appointment time for me. She was completely unhelpful and I ended up leaving. The old location at 4747 W Peterson has now taken residence here. The difference is more space, the waiting area can accommodate many more bodies and has a toddler table. The washroom where collections are done is also much bigger and probably more susceptible to sound so that they can monitor properly. The wait is still about the same, since this area doesn't get as much traffic the wait isn't too bad. They have two plus lab assistants most times so you can be in and out in under twenty minutes. Parking is available at any of the parking lots for the three business centers. CTA bus stops at both corners, Cicero and Peterson. read more

This was actually a really good experience for me. I am used to going to the location inside the suite of offices where my doctor is located in Buffalo Grove. That one is crazy busy! I had an appt here at the Peterson Ave. location at 8am this past Saturday. I walked in, they got me on time, I was helped me in 5 minutes and then on my way. Special shout out to Crystal for being so personable and friendly. I am so grateful I can have my doctor start sending the orders here and have such an easy and quick experience vs. the other location which literally takes forever. Good experience. I know you may just have one small blood test that will be fast. I know you might be thinking they can just slide you in when someone who has an appointment is late or doesn't show. Or even just take you in quickly? Let me tell you, it's not going to happen. I know, from experience, no one is special here. Why? I've spent some time in the waiting room and I've had a chance to look around and see what happens. The first time I used Quest, I thought it was a walk-in lab and did just that. Once there, all I could think was "you got to be kidding me". My choices were: (1) sign in, wait, and hope, or (2) go home, find an appointment, and come back. The choices were decidedly unappealing aaaannnd it was my fault for not looking into it. I waited. There was a young child sitting next to me who was ill (there's nothing worse [sadder] than a sick child). He was screaming his lungs out. He needed to be at home and in a comfy spot. I put on earbuds with soothing music was headed into nap land. A different set of noises fully woke me and I had time to wonder why somebody chose lime green as the predominant color for the room. The sick child was still there. Finally, the room had cleared out and it was my turn. I provided my insurance documentation and we headed back. The blood tests took no longer than 10 minutes. The tech was friendly and helpful and explained that they don't answer the phone so that they stay on time and keep serving customers. I've made appointments since that first visit. They are ridiculously easy to schedule with and the choices of open slots continue to change. In fact, on one of my last visits I changed the appointment date and time so many times I confused myself. I actually called into their number for billing and spoke with a person there. She was extremely friendly and helped to straighten things out! **Accessibility thoughts** I've been here a few times and I've yet to figure out the parking situation. The handicap spots are located in a sheltered area that is plastered with towing signs. All of the other parking spots in that area are numbered, the handicap spots are not. There is a door that opens (marked employee only) to allow wheelchairs, walkers, canes, people needing the assistance of other people, or those who do not wish to go through the Revolving door. On the other side of the parking lot, there is an area indicating free parking for an hour. It's not FAR from the door but the pavement's not in super shape. I can't remember the door situation. I'll update after another visit. It is impossible to call those inside this lab, but you can easily check it out if you need. ***** read more

I had made an appointment for this location for pre-employment drug screening. I arrived there 5 mins. before my appointment time, registered in via on there electronic pad in their waiting room. Saw my name on the screen monitor. A employee came out the door called my name and told me they cannot do my test. She gave me two other locations to go to. So, i end up going to Quest diagnostics on 4126 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60641. and i ended up being late to pick up my son from school to which he had to wait outside in the cold because of this unnecessary mistake in their part. It takes only a few minutes to pick up the phone and let me know that they couldnt do the test for whatever reason. if you are around this area go to this Quest diagnostics on 4126 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60641. Even though there were at least 10-15 people waiting in the waiting room they manage to do their job. read more

My insurance changed so that it only covers blood tests done at Quest Diagnostics. I'm appalled at the fact that I have to deal with such a company; they have the worst customer service! The lady we checked in with had a very nasty attitude. I had to email my insurance to her because I didn't have it on hand. She had walked away from the window at that point. When I called her over by saying "Excuse me, did you receive the email yet?" she responded by saying "umm I don't have computers up and running everywhere, give me a minute, I have to check" in a very rude tone. Don't work there if you're not happy with your job and you're going to talk to patients with a crappy attitude! This location should really consider hiring new employees with friendlier faces. read more

Called this location and asked if I needed to make an appointment for a pre-hire drug screening. I was told NO, that their wait times are usually only 5 to 10 minutes. To just "come on in". They told me to make sure that I was ready to go to the bathroom when I do come in. So, I drank two bottles of water and headed over there. I waited for over an hour and a half before they even called my name to speak to me. They basically told me it was my own fault for not having an appointment. Total time spent in the office? Exactly TWO HOURS... To pee in a cup. TIP: do not attempt without an appointment. Also, for 10 full minutes everyone in the waiting room listened to the employees/techs discuss their nails in the back room. I was not the only one pissed. read more

Hello Yesterday I had an appointment to pick up the materials for a stool sample at your office at 4801 Peterson, #205, Chicago, IL. Today I had an appointment to return with that sample to drop off for testing. Today's appointment was a miserable experience. Fair Bathroom Access within Quest Crohn's Disease runs in my family so this in fact was the third time I have been to Quest for a stool sample. I already understood that you have to take the plastic hat and cup home, produce the sample and bring it back. The nurse yesterday told me that was because the building's hallway bathroom does not have a sterile way to dispose of the used hats. I assumed that there was not a bathroom within the Quest office space. Today while I was in your waiting room, an elderly man came out from his appointment and the nurse handed his wife a urine specimen cup saying he wasn't able to produce anything this visit so he should try at home. Apparently customers can indeed use some bathroom within the Quest office, just not ones who need to collect a stool sample. Why? If you run the clean sterile environment that you advertise, how do you not have the ability to have a bathroom where stool collection can happen? Why did this man get to pee at your office but the three times my family has needed stool samples, we were not permitted to use your bathroom? When I did eventually get in to drop off the sample I heard clearly a bathroom flush nearby, within the Quest space. Why did this nurse speak in the waiting room about this man so all of the people could hear? Appointment Check-in Problem Today when I pulled in to the parking lot I was late. I clicked on my text message from Quest that asks you to let them know when you arrive. The reply text said I was late and that I would be treated as a walk-in. No problem. I sat in my car and listened to the radio. After a bit I got a text to come upstairs now. I turned off the car, walked right into the building and went to the Quest office. My name was not on the tv queue. I waited in the waiting room watching two different people get called and taken in but nobody called me. After a third person got called, I thought maybe I have to still use the iPad there to let them know I came up from my car. I used it and had it scan the symbol in my email on my iPhone. Again, I looked up at the tv and some initials that were not mine came up right then. I figured that must be me somehow so I sat and waited watching other customers go in and out, all without calling me. By now it is one hour after my initial appointment time. I really had to go to the bathroom so I ran down the hall and used the building's bathroom quickly and came right back. Apparently during that time the nurse phoned me. My phone did not ring nor did it record a missed call in its phone log. When I got back into the lobby more clients came and went and no nurse who stuck their head out to call them acknowledged me or asked me my name. At this point that weird set of initials on the tv disappeared. Finally when the next client was called I stood up and asked when they would be calling my name. A woman in back yells out to the woman in front of me, "I've been phoning her tons. She didn't answer." They took me in after the next client, took my stool sample and I left. If your system of letting people stay in their cars works, why then didn't the nurses who came into the waiting room never not once call out my name? If your nurse called my phone and didn't reach me, knowing I had checked in by text while in the parking lot, why didn't she ever poke her head into the waiting room to look for me? ABOVE ALL ELSE - where exactly do these women think a person holding a bag of their own poop would disappear to????? Overall this demonstrates a failure of Quest to maintain patient privacy a discrimination for clients who need to do stool sample testing a complete ineptitude and zero customer service by Quest staff As cute and peppy as your tv loop portrays your system to be, the reality is mismanagement by surley stupid people. Should I need another medical test, I am going to drive hours if necessary to use anyone but Quest. read more

Had a great experience today. Arrived 15 minutes early and checked in from my phone (they texted a link prior to the appt). Waited less than 5 minutes before being called back. There was only one other person waiting in the waiting are on a Friday morning at 9am. Everyone I saw in the facility, patient or employee, was properly wearing a mask. The technician was friendly and we chatted about the holidays while she drew my blood. The whole experience was quick and painless - I was in and out in under 20 minutes. I had a really great experience having my blood drawn at this location. Giving blood makes me faint, so I was already nervous by the time I got there. The nurse who took care of me (I can't remember her name!) was really sweet. She let me lie down and made sure I was comfortable. She let me know exactly what she was doing (since I couldn't look) and did her best to distract me with conversation while she took my blood. I really appreciate how accommodating she was throughout the process. The online scheduling was easy and I only had to wait for minute or so when I got there for my appointment. read more

I brought my mother, who is in her late eighties, in for a blood test in the summer. She has a movement disorder making walking (even with her walker) difficult as well as getting up onto the chair for the bloodwork, maneuvering doorways, etc. The first time we came, we ended up being unable to do the bloodwork because the test needed to be completed by either 10 or 11 in the morning, because that is how the level of what they are testing for was standardized. (Fasting and within a certain number of hours). Frustrating, but I was ok with this, as when we had spoken earlier in week, they assumed we would come in first thing in morning. We returned the following day. Both times the office staff was extremely good with my mom, patient and tolerant. I have (unfortunately) had doctors treat her with significantly less than the respect/patience she deserves. I would not recommend going in without an appointment because they can't predict how long you will wait then, but I did appreciate their bedside manner as well as their attention to cleanliness/sterile techniques. read more

Went in for labs ordered by my Doctor, I was told that UHC was not in network and I would have to pay out-of-pocket, when I tried to explain that they are covered in my specific plan, I was told, I would still have to pay upfront. The person at the front then called the next person. Called UHC, they stated if the DR is In Network that requested the labs then the lab is In Network per my plan and will be paid as such. Tried calling back to this location but of course you can not speak to anyone, just a pre-recorded message. read more

Quest as a company is horrible. They massively overcharge for simple tests and they find loopholes to get out of reducing the bill even if you have insurance. It's impossible to ever get in touch with anyone at the Quest main office because their automated phone system will leave you on hold for hours and they never respond to written or emailed correspondence. After billing me an outrageous amount and refusing to work with my insurance (who counts Quest as "in network" except somehow the branches in Chicago claim that they are not bound by that) I tried to get in touch with them and explain the situation. They never called me back or responded to my emails. Eventually they sent my situation to collections. I will NEVER deal with Quest again. read more
