My husband and I were in the area and found Phyllis on Yelp. We opted to try it out since it was new and had good reviews. I was also able to make a reservation on Yelp. You can also make one on their website too. However, when we arrived, it wasn't busy at all. Plenty of seating inside with rnb music playing in the background. We were seated right away, but it took a while for a server to provide us with water and obtain our drink orders. Once she approached our table we were able to place our drink order. My husband ordered the coffee old fashioned and I ordered an espresso martini. When our cocktails came out, my husband wasn't a fan of his drink; however, my espresso martini was really good. He mentioned it to the server and she was nice enough to replace it with an espresso martini. For entrees, we ordered the sweet potato pancakes, whole chicken wings, a side of creamy grits, and the breakfast croissant sandwich. The food took awhile to come out, but when we received it, everything was fresh and hot. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and we thought this restaurant has a lot of potential. I get the shrimp and grits at work when they come with FOODA and the dish is delicious! The creole sauce they put on top the creamy smooth grits is beyond amazing! I have yet to try the actual restaurant but it's on my to do list. My only complaint about FOODA is that the entree doesn't come with a side item but u have to pay for it separately. I ordered the catfish with mac and cheese, while my family enjoyed catfish and grits, biscuits and gravy, and shrimp with potatoes. One of the plates was emptied so fast, I didn't even get a chance to see everything that was on it! That's how you know the food was hitting all the right notes. When we noticed the mac and cheese wasn't piping hot, the owner, Cynthia, came over personally and made sure it was served the way it should be. That level of care and pride in her establishment speaks volumes. We came in on a slow day. We had to give our waitress our order 3 times. She said "the system is having problems" We ordered the catfish sandwich and we got a breakfast sausage on egg croissant. Chicken wings had a light crispy batter. The 3 wings were good size and had good flavor and were juicy. Waffle was light and crispy. Did not need syrup. It was that good. Only knock on the place was the music. Some questionable songs came out like the unedited version of My house by Beyoncé. The second half of the songs gets a bit explicit. The Brunch punch was amazing. The only problem was after we all got our food. My coworker was still waiting for her steak skillet. The waitress came to her and was like are you sure you didn't order the shrimp skillet? She said no because I like it medium well. Went to Phyllis for the first time yesterday the food is absolutely amazing!! I had the catfish and grits with Cajun shrimp it was to die for And I ate every morsel. We normally take pictures of the food, but it was so good we ate it all before we could even get the pictures! A number of the guest that were dining with me got additional catfish fillets to go because it was so good. I didn't try the fried lobster, but it looked delicious and one of the ladies said it was great. The guest at the table said the drinks were also amazing.
