Nestled right in Marietta Square. This is a super cute restaurant. Walking in feels like stepping into a time capsule not to mention they have a (secret) speakeasy with passcode entry. They also have brunch, lunch, and dinner which is a plus! I really wanted to love my experience here (and the customer service is fine, that wasn't rely my issue) however I feel like the menu was all over the place. I guess I just can't really tell what this restaurant is going for. I enjoyed my meal there, I had a Proper Burger the first time and pot roast the second time but it wasn't anything that I'm gushing over and can't wait to return to. I've been twice now and I think it's a solid restaurant, but I think the menu needs a little revamping and I probably won't be back anytime soon.

My husband is still raving about this spot the following morning! If you're looking for a cozy neighborhood go-to spot, don't sleep on this one! We were able to make reservations for a Sunday dinner. It's a smaller restaurant, and for a Sunday, it got to be pretty busy. (good sign) The excellent service, romantic ambience, and exceptional food quality totally eclipsed our lackluster greeting. The decor was straight from a 1920's speakeasy a'la The Great Gatsby, and surprise! (to me anyway) there's an actual speakeasy below the main dining area. Our server Marisa was engaging, warm, and very helpful. While I could see her being very busy behind the bar (those espresso martinis!), she was still attentive without being overbearing. Great selections on the menu, whether you prefer tapas-style shareable bites or a larger main dish that's big enough for 2 to share. Reasonably priced, and all of what we got tasted amazing! Full bar menu included several non-alcoholic cocktails and beverages. Who knew? But it looked like the espresso martini flights were the main attraction! We'll be back just to try those!! For our starters, we tried the short ribs, mushroom dumplings, and fried goat cheese. YUMMM!! There were actually a good selection of vegetarian options on their small menu. We chose to share the orange chicken with a side of brussels sprouts, and we were blown away by how tender the chicken was while still having that crispness of the glazed skin. Wow!! Bonus for us was the gentleman who so kindly kept clearing our dishes turned out to be the owner Will! Super friendly and even offered to take us to see the speakeasy downstairs! Just really made us feel welcome. And learning that we could host private events downstairs, we may just make up something to do it. We cannot wait to come back!

This restaurant will be in my rotation because it's so good. Some of my girlfriends had dinner here and it was so wonderful. The service was great. Our waitress frequently checked in on us and gave us recommendations. She didn't hesitate to tell us the truth about some of our choices and I really appreciated that. We started off with appetizers. The fried goat cheese is wonderful and so is the brussels sprouts. The brussels sprouts are big enough to share, but you're not gonna want to because they're so good. For dinner two of us got the short rib bite and my other friend got the salmon. The short rib was very good and tender. The only thing that made me mad is the plate was so small. But the restaurant is top of style, although the short rib bites are labeled under large plates. Just not large enough...lol. While dining, I saw some customers walk around the corner and go down a secret door. Come to find out they have a speakeasy downstairs. I had no idea. We asked the waitress do you have to have reservations to go down there? She said it is recommended but we could just go to the host stand and see if they had anything available. So after we finished dinner, we went downstairs and enjoyed the vibes. I will say it's a very nice speakeasy. And the drinks were good. They're not the same drinks that you can get in the restaurant part. I let the bartender make a drink for me so what I got really didn't have a name. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and the speakeasy to anyone. I'll definitely be going back.

Been here twice for lunch and enjoyed both times greatly! First time, I ordered a chicken sandwich and it was so good. Also ordered the espresso martini and wow. They have an oat milk cold foam on top and it is so special. Second time around, I ordered the shrimp bowl. You can tell that the ingredients are quality here and you don't leave feeling gross. This is a good staple to have in Marietta square and I plan to keep coming back!

I ate outside on their patio the other day and was pleasantly surprised. We originally went in the beginning but they've definitely worked the kinks out since and expanded their food menu! I ordered a shrimp po boy which was on homemade bread, decent sized fresh fried shrimp and their house chips were tasty! My dad got a croissant sandwich which he liked too. Service was great, the waiter took the time to ask for all of our names and greeted us by them every time which was kind.

Fabulous food, decor, ambience. The desserts are dry and obviously bought in and I would find a new supplier. The Australian bakery on the square does great desserts. Id definitely get mine there if I was the management. Great wine. The cab is wonderful. My beet salad was Devine. I'll definitely be back

What was left of my grilled chicken sandwich. Fries are awesome too.

Marietta Proper never disappoints. From the over the top service to the delish breakfast and lunch selections. Right in downtown Marietta on the Square is a delightful place to sit, eat, and chat. If you haven't been there try it. You'll like it. Yum.

This restaurant has a nice vibe, really nice decor. Service was ok, they were trying their best under the circumstances. It was really busy afternoon and the staff was overwhelmed (Labor Day and the festival was still going on at the Square). They know how to make a good martini and the food was delicious. I loved the shrimp and grits!

I found this spot while at Oktoberfest. There is lots of outside seating, which is wonderful. The inside is gorgeous and various aesthetically pleasing. I arrived just before they opened at 11 and sat on the patio. The server came out to greet me a little early and took my drink order. They had a very eclectic menu which I loved. I ordered the citrus beet salad and it was delicious. The servers checked on me several times never leaving me to wonder where they were. I'm only giving it four stars because somebody else was there with dogs that were barking a lot and the barks were very high-pitched which I found annoying and nobody asked them to go elsewhere, which resulted in me packing up and leaving early. I understand it's not your situation and I don't mind dogs on patios where they are allowed. If you have an annoying dog, be kind to those around you and do not bring them.

We visited for the ladies' night in the speakeasy and had such a great time! Amazing food and service. The attention to detail both with the design as well as the food presentation was great.

The location is so cute across from Marietta Pizza at the square. Parking is ample, but I would recommend coming a bit earlier in case it's busy at the square. The everything we had were a bit above average, but nothing extraordinary. The desserts were the best part of the whole meal. Thank you to the Wait staff who were all friendly and accommodating. I would recommend and will be back try other items on the menu.

Unfortunately, the service brought your score down. We had a reservation for dinner and the young lady who initially met us, did not even ask us this. She greeted us with, "we have an event going on, so seating is tight." OK - Well I have reservation. That seemed to help her find us a table. When she sat us, she handed us one menu for my wife and I. No wine list, (at a wine market) and no introduction. After 5-6 minutes, our server came out and said hello, but did not bring water or the wine list still. But, she did inform us again about the event going on. WE know restaurants are busy on weekends and even more so in the holiday season, but the constant reminders of "The event" does two things, one the servers are creating an excuse to say, you are going to receive slow service, and two, it felt like, how dare we show up during an event night. Finally on our servers 2nd visit, we were able to receive a second menu and the wine list. We ordered the 6 piece charcuterie and two glasses of wine. The server who made the charcuterie board, was very pleasant and proud of her creation, and rightfully so, the board was beautiful and delicious. We enjoyed our wine choice and decided to buy a bottle, our server, had zero wine experience. She did not present the bottle to me, (I have the wrong bottles brought out on a few occasions, and this is just a common courtesy) she uncorked the bottle, did not present the cork, she poured from the bottle into glasses that already had wine, granted we ordered the same wine, but at a wine market with a big event, maybe two new glasses should have been brought out, just in case. Then after she poured our glasses, she DROPPED the cork on the floor, picks it up and sticks in our bottle. Do your servers do that with silverware? Then she began to walk away with our bottle, I asked her to please leave the bottle on the table. She was seemed like that was an odd request. Overall, if we could give half stars, I would say 3.5 for the review, it was saved by your charcuterie server, as well as the taste and quality of the meats and cheeses, as well as the wonderful selection of wines. We will be back and hopefully, you take these comments constructively, and have your servers trained up a little more to be assets to your establishment.

Over the bar was a large screen TV showing beautiful scenes of Italy, with contemporary Italian pop playing in the background. I started with the soup of the day, which was lobster bisque that was so full of lobster that I would call it a stew versus a soup. The complimentary bread was slightly toasted and topped with aromatic herbs that paired perfectly with the olive oil with which it was served. My entree was a special, and was the short rib. There was nothing "short" about it as the huge beef rib had a bone that overhung the plate that a caveman would be proud to own. The beef was fork tender and the steak knife provided with it wasn't necessary. It was paired with a delicious and sweet wine sauce. And the side was tender gnocchi (al tartufo) in a rich and creamy sauce flavored with truffle. Since they also have Risotto al Tartufo on the menu, that will definitely be on my list for my next visit. Probably a good thing, since the kitchen seemed to be very backed up and the food came out very slowly. The servers also seemed to be a little overwhelmed, so I'm wondering if the crowd was heavier than expected. Please don't take this as complaint - the service staff were very friendly and did their best to keep diners smiling. Unfortunately - the food was a little underwhelming. We ordered calamari - it was slightly over cooked and chewy. For dinner, we had the gnocchi and chicken saltimbocca. The safe in the chicken dish was overpowering (I ended up having to scrape it off) and the chicken was overcooked. It says a lot that my favorite thing on the plate was the sautéed spinach (which was delicious!). I really, really wanted to love this place, but I'm not sure I would visit again. There are too many places in this area that have much better food for the same price point.
