I rarely let a shop work on my 2005 jeep wrangler just cause I have had major disappointments from previous repair shops, but Phoenix rack and axle took care of me, and I am extremely happy. I called them cause the dealership told me that they wouldn't repair my rear drive shaft and that I pretty much was SOL, so I was recommended to phoenix rack and axle. I spoke to Richard, and he took care of me. He is also a 4x4 offroader so he knew the importance of my jeep. Took the whole day to complete, which I didn't mind at all. So, I take my Tacoma there because I feel a buzz in my butt at around 60 mph. I also tell them that the carrier bearing was just replaced with a new Toyota part. Since the driveshaft would be off the truck, I brought along three new Toyota u-joints. When I went back to get the truck, the manager said my problem was the carrier bearing, handing me what was supposedly the old one. I was miffed because they weren't proactive enough to call before installing a non-Toyota part. Took the part to Toyota to get my $225 back, was told it wasn't the part they sold me. Back to PRA to get the right one. After a search they found it. Unfortunately, Toyota will only give me a new bearing, not the money. Overall bad and expensive experience. Btw, the buzz is gone. read more

While the dealership wanted to charge me nearly $1,800 to replace my steering rack (and an extra $100 for the alignment), the people at Phoenix Rack and Axle offered to fix the steering rack and do the alignment for a little under half the price. I have to say, I am so incredibly thankful for these guys' efforts, especially Steve and Richard, the latter who very kindly allowed me to pick up my car a bit after the shop was supposed to close. (I desperately needed my car early the next morning, so I am grateful that Richard helped me out.) My car is driving much more smoothly, and I am very happy with the service I received. read more

This is a very good shop. The boss is a great employer. They have the best drive line guys in town. Bernie and Steve both drive line guys know what they are doing. The rack and pinon part and the axle part have good employees too. All of them seem to work together and get things done. I haven't even got my car back (Lexus SC400) and I'm already giving these guys 5 stars. Instead of "throwing parts" at a driveline vibration they put my Lexus uup on the rack, spun the wheels and SHOWED me a U-joint problem and a problem necessitating replacement of the differential. When I said, "How much $ for the diagnosis" the answer....NOTHING! So now they're installing a replacement diffie for me, rebuilding the drive shaft, and I have no doubt the car will come back smooth and quiet. Too bad Arrowhead Lexus simply pointed their finger at the transmission mounts as the cause of all the problems. read more

Couldn't recommend this place more. They really stand behind their work and make sure your satisfied. Took a driveshaft in to get rebuilt and it was done the next day. It had a small vibration and they did everything they could to make it disappear all free of charge. In the end they just bought me a new driveshaft from the dealer to set me straight. Absolutely horrible service almost EVERYTIME I deal with these guys. If it's not the service from the counter guys, the quality of work is hit or miss. These guys are like after market power steering manufacturers, you better just order 2, maybe 3 because the first one they do for you is going to fail. I Was hung up on today after not hearing from them for 1.5 days on a drive shaft rebuild. Then to find out the drive shaft isn't even available. I have given this place multiple chances and continue to be let down with horrible communication and absolutely ZERO follow through. Even when they actually have the ability to rebuild the product in house they change their price we originally agreed to without authorization, they just call say, "oh yeah, I know it was quoted at $375 but it's now $800, I am not sure who you talked to?" Just horrible business practices. I run a decent operation myself where we pride ourselves on communication, transparency, honesty, follow through, and most importantly when you say you're going to do something, just do it rather you're taking the hit or not... I am not sure how this place has been in business so long. Might be because they're one of few still around, maybe ownership is different because the guys you have manning the counter need to call me for training. Good luck Phoenix rack, I'll be sure to never use you again and try my best to make sure none of my team does either, no promises there, sometimes people get desperate and have to use you guys even knowing it's a roll of the dice with your product you put out. read more

Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I truly felt like they did not want my business. I walked through the front door, and did not even get looked at by the three employees. I had to say "hello". I reluctantly left my drive shaft to be shortened. Wait about a week and no call from them. So I call to inquire about my shaft. "oh ya its hear" the guy says. I guess they are to busy to let thier customer know the product is ready. To top it all off, they installed the new u-joints I provided them incorrectly. Take your business elsewhere. This shop lacks professionalism and customer service. I recently had work done on my '86 Chevy K30 at Phoenix Rack & Axle. After my experience with them, however, I would NEVER recommend them to anyone else!!! I brought my truck in, and talked to Steve Griffin, the owner. I explained to him that I wanted to get a front drive line made and put ring and pinion in my Dana 60 front end. He explained to me that the job would take 4-5 days to do because they were so busy. After 9 days, I finally called to get the status on my truck. He said that the truck was done, and I asked him how the front drive line turned out. He said to me, "What front drive line?" He had completely forgotten about what work he was supposed to do to complete the job! The next day, I went in to pick up my truck, and came to find out that he built a completely different front drive line than we discussed. On top of that, there was oil coming out of the axle tube. They had not replaced the axle seals when they put the gears in the front end. I brought this to Steve's attention and he told me that they would fix it. After not hearing from him for another 2 business days, I called to get an update again. He said that they had not started working on the leak and maybe they would be able to get to it tomorrow. At that point, after such poor customer service, no followup about my truck, and more than two weeks after having my truck at their shop with no resolution, I had enough and picked it up. I now have to find another shop to redo the axle seals and pull the front end out again. Overall, this shop provides horrible customer service and workmanship! read more

Just had a fantastic run in with the manager of the facility here. He had his fine employees out weed whacking their empty lot with "river rocks" his words not mine. Needless to say the gentleman was extremely aware of his surroundings and took great precautions to keep his attentiveness at maximum. (Headphones) While leaving the circle k I received a very welcoming tap on my window. Shattered it. I went to speak to the manager and he told me "He isn't liable for passing cars" speaking about his top notch employee of course. I asked him one more time after taking photos and letting the gentleman have a fair chance at morality before calling the police. He then stated something along the lines of, there is no proof you can take all the pictures you want; it's like when you drive on the freeway how do you know where the rock came from. Well sir not to toot my own horn here but I am actually not blind or have an iq under 30. There is a single open lot to the north of that is a circle k, to the east is a tire shop and to the south is your establishment. If you want to tell me how I was able to receive a rock on the passenger side rear window while driving southbound on 32nd street anywhere other then where your employee is weed whacking a patch of grass with multiple small rocks and three pretty much closed off establishments I will be appeased to hear it. I appreciate your curtesy and professionalism sir but unfortunately I do not have a camera on that side of your building. I took in my 2014 mustang to get an aluminum driveshaft installed. They did a terrible job, it caused a huge vibration and they refused to give me my money back and they refused to rebalance it. Steve made Me look like the idiot while being a Huge Dick about it. Turns out I had it looked at by my dealer and the driveshaft was so out of balance it was shaking there machine. It was a poor driveshaft that was improperly balanced to begin with. $400 down the drain. Do not trust this place, because they will shaft you. read more

I have done business with Rack and Axle over the years with numerous companies that I have owned. They used to come and pickup your driveshaft, work their MAGIC, then deliver it back the same day for an incredibly moderate price. No one calls to tell you it's done..... Now they are into installation and repair and forgot how to take care of their loyal longtime customers and their new customers as well. No one in the front can answer questions...they have to pull someone from the back...who is always pissed that he had to stop and come out and talk to you. I just had a driveshaft redone...the price was pretty high..( we used to make fun of "Arizona Driveshaft" about their price gouging) and on top of everything , they couldn't tell what happened to my old slip yoke which I planned on using on another project. I had to change slip yokes for the new shaft but they couldn't find my old one. The new one was over $100.00....I can buy a new one for $64.00 anywhere else. I guess all good things come to an end. Don't waste your time and money with these jackasses. I hear Arizona Driveshaft is REALLY competitive these days. Feel free to use my name. I have been building hotrods in Phoenix for 25 years. First off I had to call them to find out my driveshaft was done. Second went to the shop to pickup my driveshaft and asked if we could verify the length. Length was wrong. Guy behind the counter said we will fix it up within the hour. I left for lunch came back in 1hr, and its not done. Took almost 2 hours to finish. Look elsewhere. read more
