I recently visited Wheel Specialists, Inc., and had the opportunity to work with Gary, the General Manager. What stood out to me was the level of professionalism, character, and leadership Gary demonstrated throughout the entire interaction. There was a very slight misunderstanding regarding the services believed to have been paid for. Now, let's be honest--situations like that can go sideways very quickly. Most places get defensive, frustrated, or even confrontational when a customer believes they're right (even if they might not be entirely correct). I've seen it happen many times. My wheel was brought here for a small correction and received it back with scratches.

I took my vehicle to Discount Tire to get four new tires. The young attendant stripped my locknut key by using a torque gun instead of a hand socket wrench. Discount Tire said there was nothing they could do, leaving me without a resolution on how to get the wheel off. The Lincoln dealership also couldn't assist, and I was sent to four different locations across the valley, including some specialists, but none were successful. Some attempted unsuccessfully, while others suggested welding off the bolts, with no guarantee of the cost or damage. After exhausting every resource in the area over a week, I contacted a friend who owns CMH Auto in Niagara. Phil found the situation ridiculous and offered to help, but it meant driving four days with three worn tires with 55,000 miles on them, a risk I couldn't take. As a last resort, teary-eyed, I pleaded with the service manager, Dave Sleater, at Wheel Specialists to see what he could do. He asked me to leave it with him, and my wife and I took an Uber home. Within the hour, he called to say it was done, and the relief I felt was incredible. After a week of frustration, I finally found my savior. When I went to pick up the vehicle and expressed my gratitude to Dave, I noticed his two cut knuckles. He said he did the work himself--it wasn't easy, going through four sockets and scraping his knuckles a few times. I've never experienced such incredible service and felt such elation because someone had the heart to help someone in dire straits. I am forever grateful. read more

This shop is absolutely AMAZING!! They really know their stuff! I had 2 rims that were bent "worst they ever saw" according to one tire shop. I called Wheel Specialists, had my car dropped off a little after 9am with Dave. He explained that while I did get the rims pretty good, there was a great likelihood that they could be repaired at a fraction of the cost of replacement. To my surprise and disbelief before 11:30am - that VERY SAME DAY- my rims were repaired, tires inflated and I was ready to safely get back on the road! I didn't even have to get new tires!! No pressure to upsell me anything! Just good old fashioned quality work, quality service, and honesty!! I am so impressed- I literally had contemplated filing a comprehensive insurance claim because of the estimates I was getting calling around. I am so thankful I reached out! Having my repairs done here was LESS than my deductible, and my bill for towing my car was actually MORE expensive than the cost to REPAIR. Bought set of tires and they started crackin in less than 6 months, took 3 months to get them warrantied. Warranty basically covered nothin but mounting and balancing for next tire. Fast forward and now the next set of tires is cracking. WSI is telling me about wear on tire and nicks on tire from mounting (WSI mounted and installed the tires). Note: When I called in to get tires rotated, Steve tells me " why are you rotating them are they vibrating or are you having an issue". So I took my BBS Rs to get drilled to 4x100 . We talked mentioned that it may be a possibility that the material on the center would be eaten a little and that the machinest thought it might not go through . No big issue as I've seen plenty of sets drilled and it would only take some material off the top of the center of the bore which would not be bad . But ! They drilled the whole properly and then decided to drill a "step" ontop of the hole which I didn't want . The step is what caused it to eat a lot of the center and causing it to go through . If that extra "step" was not used everything would of been fine . It would of ate a very small amount of material from the center and would of looked great. I do not recommend taking and expensive wheels like bbs here for a drill . They seem to work with a lot of newer wheels . I wish I would have known that adding the "step" per say was "industry standard even though knowing that these are older and rare set to find . I'm pretty mad that no thought went into notifying me that there would be a bigger drill bit ontop of the other hole was going to be done . Not sure what to do at this point but I do recommend a company that deals in older sets of wheels . The name and reviews is what convinced me to go here . I'm adding a picture of what it should of been and what I got done . As you can see there would of been barely any material taken from the center and wouldn't of been so close to the threads that you can see light through them . I suffered some curb rash on two wheels of my BMW 440ix, and wanted it fixed perfectly. I checked with both our dealership and our car detailing business, and both recommended WSI in Tempe. That's a rather long drive from North Scottsdale, but I wanted it repaired to good-as-new. Took the car there, it was completed on time and picked it up. The two wheels were good-as-new. So far, so good... Once back home, I discovered that two tires on the repaired wheels had been replaced with air, not nitrogen as they were when I dropped it off. I called to discuss with Service Manager Dave Sleater, and he immediately followed up the next day by coming to my location with all proper equipment to purge the two tires of air and replace with the correct psi of nitrogen. Going above and beyond, he then purged my two other tires, and refilled again with fresh nitrogen! Any business, or person, can make a mistake, but stepping up to correct the issue with a goal to make the customer happy is the key to a successful 5-STAR business reputation, and they definitely deserve this rating. read more

Outstanding! Lost 2 wheel center cover bolts and went everywhere trying to find replacements - napa, tire pros, ace hardware, etc - no one had anything close. Even reached out to the manufacturer who only sold complete new sets. Finally referred to Wheel Specialists who not only had the replacement bolts, but spray painted them to match the center cap! Don't remember who the gentlemen was that helped me - but very personal, friendly, and professional! Ok, one thing I can say about this place is I never had a business here in AZ that realized a mistake was theirs and did anything to rectify and make a customer happy. Well, the Wheel specialist did just that. Curt and even the owner took accountability for what happened and offered what they could to me after asking me to be reasonable and fair with what would make me happy and to keep my business. We agreed, and they took care of me in the best way they could. Sometimes, we expect places to be perfect, but no one or no place is that. Mistakes do happen, and all we do is wish that it doesn't happen to us. What was so pleasing is that this place works at pleasing its customers with an internal checks and balances to assure that the measurements and installation are right for your vehicle, and the ride stays good. I am AMAZED at how clean this place is!! I arrived early, there wasn't anyone in the lobby but I wasn't in a hurry or anything so I didn't take much initiative on getting their attention. Someone did ask if I have been helped yet and after I said no, they took my keys and I'm guessing "checked" me as here. Dave was the initial guy that set me up my appointment and got me all checked out in the end. I wish I got his name but it was a younger gentleman that did the whole installation. He was awesome! I utilized this company for wheel refinishing with pretty horrible results to which they refuse to refund for. I brought in a wheel with extremely minor curb rash which was supposed to be addressed by refinishing the machined surface after re-powder coating the wheel. They were supposedly the experts so I trusted them to have done this before. When I went to pick it up the first time, the entire back lip of the wheel was bubbling and cracking due to the wheel being "laid down on a conveyor belt in the oven" as it was explained. They tried to pawn this off as "no one see's the back of the wheel" rather than addressing the issue. I refused to take the wheel back and demanded it is corrected. I learned that the powdercoating would have inevitably flaked from the cracked bubbles far beyond how bad it already way thanks to their terribly shoddy work. Also, you hang stuff that needs a full powdercoat, like wheels, FFS, to have an even and acceptable finish. A week later they told me it was ready and on pickup they had clearly just used automotive paint, poorly sanded and masked the back area to touch it up, and now half of the wheel well has a clearly visible mis matched color and paint lines. This is not the service I paid for. Despite having the wheel for 2+ weeks, and me explaining that they clearly have failed and them even admitting to the mistakes and offering a third time to attempt to provide the service, I decided it was not wasting any more of my time, I requested a refund and would be taking the wheel elsewhere to try and salvage it. They refused a refund and salesman I am working with supposedly said the owner stated the following... "We do not guarantee the work on the back of the wheel because no one sees it". I've since learned (also admitted in the last round of discussion) that they outsource their powdercoating. This was not mentioned and I would have never used them had I known this. So to recap.. - Failed to properly powdercoat the wheel, it was botched - Failed to repowdercoat wheel - Tried to pass off automotive paint touch up as acceptable (I paid for powdercoating) - Machining was just OK on the face but clearly rushed and maybe a 75% match to original, could have been much better - Refused to refund for failed service delivery - They purposely misrepresent their service and outsource the work and refuse to own any quality issues - Owner supposedly says "Nothing he can do" with second request to refund which translates to "I don't give a shit about the quality of our work nor our customers". You're the owner right? Of course, there is something you can do! Start by owning your failure, then move on to guarantee your work. After that, maybe don't be an asshole to your customers with remarks like "There is nothing I can do". Anyways, do not recommend for wheel repair and refinishing. Despite having photo and video evidence of said botched work and having the wheel for the time they did, with two failed attempts, they feel it doesn't warrant a refund. I have been using Wheel Specialists for the last 18 months. Just had some road rash on one wheel and came to WS to replace it. Had an 8 am appointment and they brought it right in. My car has specific jack points that they are well aware of. I looked out into the shop and saw the tech was just finishing the car (I thought). He was torquing the lug nuts, but then proceeded to check all the wheels. Next came checking all 4 tires for correct pressure. Certainly he was done now (nope). We went there on Jan. 26 with the hope that they were not the type of store that advertised a whole lot of wheels but didn't have anything in stock. Well they did have quit a selection in stock. In addition, their shop was spotless, and with a heck of a lot of room. You know that someone is professional when the shop floor is so clean that you could eat off of it.
