The people here really came through for me and my family. We were on vacation (sons wedding) and my battery light came on. It was over 110 degrees outside, so being stranded was not an option. After, an attempt to resolve the issue at a AutoZone, we discovered my alternator was defective. 4pm on a Friday there was only one option and that was GRJ's. It was a Saturday and my car broke down in the middle of a very busy street. I got it pushed out of traffic, and called Robert at G R J's Auto Repair. He was able to tow the car at minimal cost, and give me a diagnosis within hours. After the part was received, they got the car back to me before lunchtime. Very reasonable cost. Super nice. Also gave me a heads up on some work that needs to be done going forward. Very clean and comfortable lobby. Ivan, who initially gave my estimate, was very helpful in getting back to me the same day. I did go in with different expectations than the unfortunate reality of my truck's state, but took it in with 2 days and Robert was there to greet me. I had bought my parts ahead of time based on the tests ran by the AutoZone near my work, so the estimate was a fair deal. It was fairly easy to find and the inside was nice, clean, and friendly. Robert was helpful in that the quote was still on record despite not giving my last name or any other information. I was able to get it into the shop first thing in the morning (Wednesday) and was estimated to be driving it off the following day. Robert called me the following day to inform me that the diagnostics ran by the AutoZone employees were a false positive as the starter was good, so he suggested a diagnostics tests to find the true issue. He was prompt to get back the same day to let me know that they confirmed there was actually an issue with fuel injector system leaking, so it was throwing a false code that AutoZone based their sale on. I did end up getting it back the next day after I was hoping (I work from home) and had to pay out a bit more to get the real issue resolved, but the truck is starting and running well again. Of course, no matter where you go, you end up finding new problems with your vehicle as a sudden annoying click can be heard as I rev the engine. I hope that it is a temporal annoyance and it's just a bit of grease waiting to remove itself, but overall the experience was pleasant and I hope to do business with them again (A/C system looks to be next before the Phoenix heat hits!). read more

GRJ's did a great job with identifying the problem with our vehicle, explaining the options, being clear with the costs and maintaining communication. We were in a bind to get the job done as soon as possible, and they came through for us. It's intimidating to find help when you have trouble with your vehicle, and I'm so glad we found GRJ's. They made some other recommendations on things they could also fix or just be aware of. They were professional and were not pushy to try and upsell us with things we did not need. The guy I dealt with here wasn't the ideal mechanic. I went to him like a man and was honest and expected him to be with me but I guess the greed of the mechanic world outdid his ethics and morals if he has any. I ended up getting charged nearly $500 for two hoses to be put in when my concern was to fix the major issues first. after spending a $1000 with this shop my truck still had issues that he failed to diagnose and plus the things that required the most attention. This guy did the least work and charged me the most money. I was really pissed and wanted to go back and raise hell but he'll get his karma and I'll get my truck fixed honestly. I'll never go there again or recommend anyone there. read more

I'm new to this area and I purchased a vehicle from Robert which is the owner of the auto shop. All I can say is that Robert did more than he's supposed to and went the extra mile to make sure all the fluids were toped, tire pressures were checked as well everything was working properly before he sold me the car, including giving me free windshield wipers which he did not have to do. We were so impressed by Robert and GRJ's service. On a Friday night our car was not able to start in Phoenix and couldn't get hold of any mechanics. Next day in the morning we contacted GJR's and they came to tow our car to the garage for a minimum price and did a quick but thorough test over the car. Robert also recommended to us what part of the issues we might need to take care of and the price is very reasonable. The place is clean, neat, and very organized, and the mechanics there really took care of our car like their own. They even wiped the car nicely for us after they finished the checking and installation. I highly recommend this place, had I lived anywhere closer I would visit GRJ for future needs. read more

My dad recommended this spot about 4 years ago and I have had a healthy relationship with them ever since. I've visited them at least 6 times and I have never had to go back to have them redo work. GRJ auto was recommended to me by a friend in my apt complex. I brought my van over and thought that because he was busy, it was a good sign. Well it wasn't good for me. The three times I used GRJ I dropped my van off first thing in the morning and didn't get it back till way past closing time and even then they were still working trying to finish. I feel I didn't get good service because they are always behind (at least with me) on my repairs and don't do everything needed because they are in a hurry. I needed a part for my tune up (distributer cap) and they couldn't get one because it was so late the parts stores were closed. He told me to try it for awhile and then come back if I wanted it done. I didn't go back because I was tired of leaving my work van with him all day when nothing gets done till the last minute. The last straw was when I needed a tire change because of a flat. I bought a used tire there and left my van with him. Finally after four hours they said to come by and when I did they were just then putting on the tire. Why do I have to leave my van for four hours? Then the next day I discovered he didn't even balance it. I would not use RGJ for anything. I feel I got short changed and didn't get what I paid for. read more
