I had a meh experience here. I don't remember the Vietnamese egg rolls all that well but the gooey sweet sauce they first provided was not my fav. I've never been given a sauce like that for egg rolls. I asked for regular nuoc cham instead (thin, clear, fish sauce based dipping sauce). On to the pho! The large pho tai was presented in the widest bowl ever. It was like twelve inches in diameter. The soup spoon was ridiculously small looking compared to the huge bowl. Unfortunately, the soup was way to sugary for me. The server didn't understand me when I ordered the pho tai. I guess she hasn't heard enough Vietnamese pronunciations of the dish? The restaurant needs a deep clean. They seated us right up against the front window of the restaurant. It was a very warm day and they kept the a/c on too hot. I was sweating even before I started eating the pho. It was uncomfortably hot for the whole meal. Also, the window area was super dusty and could use some attention. They had a cute upstairs area, but it might have been even warmer up there in the summer lol. read more

First timer here. Ordered a #6 rare steak and beef brisket with extra shrimp. Flavor in broth was there but I wish it had more kick. I also asked for some nuoc beo and server said, "I don't think we have that" and walked away . I love adding it to my pho and this was the first place ever to tell me they don't have it. We've tried server noodles houses in Modesto and this noodle house broth is has down better than the many I've tried in Modesto. There very quick with their service and straight forward with what they have available. It is small so make sure you go alone or with 4or less people to enjoy dine in experience. There is this tall Caucasian waitress who was very impatient to my question, and I only asked one... not sure what I did to pissed her off or if she is like that to everyone. So let's start by getting some of the minor details out of the way. This is a Vietnamese restaurant. I don't want to sound judgmental, but when the place is not 97 degrees with 100% humidity, the kitchen is in plain sight so you can see everything being cooked and the restrooms are actually clean, it gives you a sense of reassurance in your decision. Now, for the good stuff, and I DO mean good. We started with the egg rolls. They were light and crispy. Almost an art form. Wasn't sure if we should eat them or have them framed. They were wonderful. Not really sure why they served them with sauce...as there was really no need. Then it was on to the Rare Slice Steak and Brisket Pho. HUGE!!! There was so much, half of it came home. That in itself should say something. If you take soup home, it MUST be good. Then it was the Rice with Grilled Beef. This may have been in the top 10 beef I have ever had. The beef was very thinly sliced and then wrapped around scallions before cooking. This combination is amazing, and worthy of eating again. It's dishes like this that make people like me get locked in and never try anything else. If you find yourself in Modesto, you should give this place a try. You will not be disappointed. read more

We came to try this restaurant based on the reviews. We LOVE pho and usually eat it wherever we go. Boy were we wrong. What a waste of money! My kids did like the strawberry smoothies. We ordered spring rolls and rare steak pho for everyone. They didn't have bean sprouts. Served us the springs rolls without any peanut sauce. Bowls came out not full. I have never tasted pho like todays and we have been to MANY pho places. No flavor, something was missing and It was just off. It was so gross I couldn't eat it. A 2 Star to be honest the spring rolls and steak pho were not good. They were edible, but lacked flavor, the consistency of the traditional pho that I grew up with in the peninsula, and Milbrae area was not there. The fresh spring rolls were a little on the hard, chewy side. The pho was bland. Perhaps the toasted grilled onion was missing. I'm not sure. We are def. not going back. People in this city know wassup. My coworker and I stopped by here while in the area for work. We came during lunch time and they were super busy! The restaurant isn't too big and can feel crowded when it's busy and there really isn't much of a waiting area. The pho prices are great and it comes in three sizes: small, medium and large. My coworker got a large and it was super big! I ordered a medium pho and it was a good size for me. They certainly give a lot of noodle. The broth was excellent! It had great flavor, yet subtle. The prices are great for the amount and size you get. Although, I do feel my meat was a little skimped out on. I didn't have much meat. I would come here again if I'm in the area. read more

I ordered spring rolls which had pork and shrimp in it. It came with peanut sauce, both were good. I ordered the #10 rare sliced steak, the broth had good flavor. Ordered to pho togo. It was one of the most bland pho's I ever had. Broth had no flavors, I even questioned myself if I had covid, one of the symptoms is loss of taste, but I could taste my leftovers chipotle I had right after since I wasn't satisfied, so that's not the issue. I'm not sure what happened, but this place use to have one of the best pho's in town. Apparently not anymore. I will revisit in a few months, hopefully I can give a better review. read more
