A below average place with flies flying around! The place was empty except our family. We saw at least three flies constantly, I become suspicious if I see flies in the dining area. I question cleanliness in the kitchen!! Now coming to food, I ordered the chicken rice noodle. A lot of chicken, carrots, favor wise ok, nothing great. The noodles are a tad undercooked! The spring rolls are ok but the peanut sauce is good! The Thai milk tea is below average! Overall not a place I will come again! Although the food is average I question the cleanliness! This used to be a favorite place in Modesto growing up. Wish their prices did not jump so high. Compare to other Pho places in Modesto, this now appears to be one of the highest at $16-18 for a bowl of Pho to Rice Plates. read more

German cockroach heaven. Big bummer the reviews were great, but once I entered and used the restroom you can see into the kitchen... Kitchen strainer sitting on top of the garbage can in the kitchen... Red flag... German cockroaches on a food cart in the kitchen... Red flag, and mop bucket and mop blacker than asphalt in the kitchen.. final red flag within the the 5 minutes I was in this place. I really hope they get an inspection done, and get a to do list to stay open, and maybe clean up and possibly survive. But I will be avoiding. Here's a tip, if the bathroom and kitchen are not clean you can guarantee the kitchen is not any better. read more

One of the best places to eat pho in modesto. The soup is served hot and very tasty. One of my favorite also in this place is the VFC vietnamese fried chicken. It is served fried without batter and the white tice compliments the taste. They also have the best fried eggroll. Well recommended for vietnamese food. read more

We have been customers for many years. There is a wide menu selection and all the items we have had are excellent in presentation, taste, and qanitity. Like all restaurants they did raise their prices a bit recently, but not to the extreme. It is still and economic and greatplace to have excellent Vietnamese dishes. read more

Great tasting food in this little hole in the wall place. Even though it's not the closest place for me to get a yummy bowl of pho I don't care. I came in recently for pho to go because I had a little cold and sore throat. Maybe it helped or didn't do magic and fight off the cold but it sure made me feel good and very satisfied They always provide enough of the yummy tidbits to add in, my fav is basil. I can never finish a whole serving but my pho was so tasty there wasn't enough to save. There could be more broccoli but the soup flavor did its magic and the taste of the soup flavor is just awesome read more

My go to Pho spot in Stanislaus! The location is a little sketch but the food is so worth it! Really comforting and delicious pho. Service is very nice and the owner seems to take pride in his restaurant :) definitely a repeat spot for me. Don't let the location keep you from dropping in!! read more

I was recommended to come here by a friend and let me just say they do not disappoint. Amazing service - they sat us fast (it was busy because we came during lunch). The restaurant was clean and had such a warm inviting feeling. We both got rare beef pho and the pork egg rolls. The egg rolls were honestly some of the best egg rolls I have ever had in my life. The pho was just hands down the best pho I have ever had. Only was 34$ for two bowls of pho and the egg rolls!!! Terrible!!!!!! I just called to place an order for pho and explained I'm new to the menu and not familiar with ordering so what's the most popular pho and let me get that one. The man on the phone said he wouldn't do that I need to choose of the menu, so I tell him let me get the beef pho, he says he can't do that because he doesn't know what kind and starts listing options of meat. I say steak pho AFTER HE TELLS ME THATS AN OPTION and continues to say I need to order off the menu. I just say nevermind and they hang up the phone. Pork chops were dry. Pho was whatever. When I went the menu had no price. I assumed it would be regular price. But they said the prices went up. 18 bucks a plate now. Other spots charged 13 a plate. I been a long time customer. Now I won't be coming. I feel like I got robbed. No tip read more

The food was decent, a bit too expensive for the portion size for the combination plates. The pho was good but service wasn't terrible. The lady that sat us down never checked on us after we ordered. I ordered a soda and water but never got my water. U have to pay for refills is crazy. read more

We get the rare steak pho and it's the most flavorful pho we've ever gotten in the 209. This restaurant is a whole in the wall and the family that owns this are amazing!! We also have tried their fried pork egg rolls which are light yet crispy. Recommend this place to anybody wanting some good affordable food while also supporting a small business!!! read more

Absolutely fantastic place for lunch or dinner. I've known Dave the owner literally since I was in the womb My mother came here when she was pregnant and my father with her. You cannot find a better bowl of pho in the valley I challenge anybody to find one. What's more they're one of the few fun places that has quail eggs available which I highly recommend for the soup and they have a delicious chili oil which I also highly recommend. Highly recommend this place for a delicious casual lunch. read more

My absolute favorite pho place in town and the only place I have found that makes shrimp wontons. Also the best cream cheese wontons in town! so so delicious. the owner is very efficient which some people interpret as bad service but he simply does not fluff the job. he gets you what you ordered fast and once you are a regular, he always remembers you and is very friendly. read more

Although the Pho soup is very good, the menu is a little pricey. I got the Chicken with vegetables and rice plate which was just okay. it was $13.50. My husband had a bowl of Pho for $14.50. For appetizers we got the spring rolls and pork meatballs (which were terrible) and an ice tea and a beer. The bill was $65. It's a good place for Pho and spring rolls, but not really anything else at least for us. We probably won't be going back read more

This place isn't too far from my house so I decided to try with a friend. We went down and were sat immediately. One of us got well done steak pho and another got the chicken, veggies and rice. It came out to $23 and the food was great. Everything came out fast and was made very well. This will definitely be my go to spot. This place is the real deal if you're looking for quality traditional Vietnamese food in Modesto. I swear by their wonton soup as it's the closest to what I expect the flavor to be like. The place is clean but a bit run down. Don't let that be a hindrance! The portions are huge and prices are great. Everything I've ever had has been highest quality and you can tell by the old ladies chattering in the kitchen that you can expect the authentic flavors. I highly suggest coming here if you know what genuine viet street food is. I'll return again and again as it's my favorite in all of Modesto. read more

Classic Fresh Flavors here, Food is always hot and on point. Hot and fresh traditional offerings plus some delicious tasty extras like the fresh lime soda so epic ! "Snagglepuss Saves The Day" While I was getting down in the Ghetto, and buying some cheap Chinese New Years Cards (for only $1 each at the Asian Market across the strip mall), I was starving, so I gave this place another go after quite awhile. Either they had improved with cleanliness and food quality, or I was really really hungry...but the Pho was pretty decent this time. The poor excuse for a waiter, was a scurvy looking missing front tooth Viet dude, whom I will call Mr. Snagglepuss for the hell of it. Mr. Snagglepuss, appeared to have no clue as to what the hell I was asking. I kept saying and gesturing, if my order could be "fast" or ready quick (since I had to get back to work). After a minute, I decided that I was slowing the speed of my order down by my asking questions, so I just pointed to #1 on the Menu...and off raced Mr. Snagglepuss. While I was watching Egypt go nuts on CNN, Mr. Snagglepuss finally brought my order. The Basil was kind of pathetic, but the broth, beef, and noodles were fine. I thought #1 had Tendon (my fav) but I did not see any. I put my usual hot sauce, plum sauce, and stinky rotten fish sauce in, as well as, the dish of fixins, stirred, and wolfed it down. Not bad at all...and no MSG after-shocks noted this time (but I just had a small bowl). When I went to pay, there was Mr. Snagglepuss, and maybe his wife(?), who also looked like she had Scurvy or Beriberi or something. Poor Mr. & Mrs. Snagglepuss really need some Vitamins or stay away from whatever they are hooked on (and get a damned dentist for my sake). These unsavory characters really distracted from my Ghetto-dinning pleasure. Anyway, thank you Snagglepusses for providing a decent Ghetto-Pho experience! So upgrade from Eek to OK! read more

I ordered two entrees-vegetable noodle pho and the veggie and crispy noodles with tofu. Both orders were fresh and high quality. The crispy noodles and veggies was delicious. Highly recommend for those looking for a vegan option. Unfortunately the base of the vegetable noodle soup is chicken so not suitable for vegetarians or vegans. I don't like a ton ton of noodles but it needed triple the amt to be an avg amt of noodle. The best thing about this was the peanut sauce. I give them high marks for their peanut sauce. Fried got pork vermicelli & shrimp spring rolls. Her high praise was "they gave a lot of meat." But otherwise her reaction was "it's ok." Other friend got garlic butter chicken wings. I had one. There was no garlic flavor on the wings but there was a bit of garlic & onion on the plate w/them. Otherwise, they tasted like naked wings. I like naked wings & admit they were cooked well. She also got brisket & flank pho w/out noodles. She said meat was tender & delicious. I really really wanted to like them more than I did. This is only the 2nd or 3rd time I've ever reviewed something where I gave less than 4 stars. Not my cup of tea, but glad they seem to have found their audience since they don't have poor reviews overall. Happy for them. Still on the quest for good Central Valley Vietnamese!
