Last week my 1999 Kenmore top-loading washer suddenly broke, when it would not spin. The only time it malfunctioned in 21 years! That would have been the end of it, but as appliances tend to go, the dryer gave up on me again a week later. After a complete failure by another refrigerator repair service, who shall remain nameless here, I contacted Phoenix Appliance Repair for diagnosis and repair of our LG refrigerator. Vladimir responded in a timely manner, was at all times communicative and quickly and accurately diagnosed the problem. His accurate assessment of the repairs needed saved an enormous amount of down time for us, and from what I understand, saved us a not insignificant amount of money by avoiding the usual trial and error method of refrigerator repair. The man came the day after I called to look at my fridge and replaced a part and I can already tell the fridge performance is back to where it should be. Our washer had suddenly stopped draining. I reached out to Phoenix Appliance Repair Services for help! I found them on Yelp and decided to give them a call. I initially spoke Vladimir who told me about the $65 service fee that would go toward the repair. I was then contacted by Alec (via text which was my preferred communication method) who then came out that Saturday when I was available. Just looking at the washer identified some possible issues. Once the washer was taken apart we found it was a clogged internal drain. All was needed was a rinse of the drain and put the washer back together. Total cost $135, totally worth it! I had an issue with my Sub Zero Refrigerator earlier this week and called on my home warranty company to get it fixed. They called another contractor to come out and review my claim. This other company whom I wont name ended up spending no time with me and told me I needed to do an entire overhaul on my refrigerator to get it working. I proceeded to call my warranty company and bc of his suggestion they would not take care of my claim. Fast forward to today and I called on Vladimir. He answered right away and took time away from his current job to talk to me. He informed me that he had a busy day but if he could make time he would. Later this afternoon he called me and stated that he would be available within the next 25 mins. 25 minutes later and he was there and on time. He proceeded to look at my fridge and came to the conclusion that it needed refrigerant. After putting the refrigerant he noticed the leak was minor and was on one of the connectors for the refrigerant. He fixed that for me and was able to get my refrigerator working in under 10 minutes and at minimal cost. He is very professional, prompt and works with high integrity. Our dishwasher quit draining and we needed it repaired. We had used Vladimir in the past and liked the service so we called him again. He was punctual, friendly and experienced as expected. But he went well above and beyond expectations over the course of the service. After trying an initial fix the problem reoccured so he came right back the same day. I tried to tip him for that but he refused saying it was part of the service. He tried several things and came to the conclusion it was a circuit board and left us with the decision to repair or replace. He did not push a repair but instead provided valuable council on the repair/replace decision. We were thinking about it when my phone rang and it was Vladimir. Instead of leaving us to decide he had done additional research and had one more thing to try. He came back a third time the same day without being asked and took the maching apart. Sadly that didn't work as the original conclsion was correct but the fact that he went that extra mile to help was was well above what I would expect. Again he refused extra payment. Vladamir is FABULOUS! A few days ago my washing machine over flowed. I finally sucked it up and called around for some rate quotes. I like that his fee to come out was waived if he performed the service. He explained to me what he thought was going on and told me how much it would be, but then as he looked at the machine he tried something else and was the fix that it needed. On Aug. 29, 2016, I arrived home after being in Europe for 30 days, to find that both doors on my big GE fridge were glued shut! I could not pry the doors open. When I pulled harder and stuck my fingers between gasket and fridge, OMG, it was so glued shut, that I was horrified to see that I was pulling the gasket off the freezer and fridge doors! I had to use hot water to get the gasket to release off the fridge, then I saw what happened. The fridge stopped cooling and all the various forms of ice cream I kept in the freezer door had melted and traveled all the way around and into both freezer and fridge gaskets, dried and fused the gaskets to the body of fridge, so when I pulled hard, it pulled the gasket out of the doors, instead of off the fridge. Some of my food in the freezer was still frozen, other food cool, but not frozen, but nothing smelled bad. Lower fridge, quite warm and obviously not functioning right. I Yelped "Appliance Repair" using "highest rated first" filter, and came up with Vladimir and Phoenix Appliance Service. It was 2 pm and Vladimir answered with live voice right away. I told him I just returned from Europe and what I described above. He asked where I was located, told me it would be a $75 trip charge which includes some of the service, and said incredibly, "I can be there in 30 min, I just had a cancellation". He told me to remove everything out of the fridge. And at 2:30 there he was, in front of my house! Vladimir is from USSR and has been fixing appliances for 8 years. He had a "trainee" who said he had been following Vladimir on his service calls for 5 weeks now. The trainee removed the back panel from inside the freezer to reveal tons of ice. Most of the hour and half Vladimir spent at my house was defrosting this ice with hair dryer and moping up water with towels, so he could access, test, and diagnose to see what was wrong. He saw that the thermostat which is exactly the size and shape of a 2 liter bottle cap, looked like it had raised and protruded abnormally out of the housing, like a popover would in the oven. He suspected bad thermostat was the problem as the symptoms all matched, and got new one from his truck. Total out-the-door bill was $195.33, cash/check price. He charges % more for credit card. He told me to keep putting hot water in container in freezer to steam the rest of the ice for another 4 hours. After four hours, I plugged in the fridge but the motor did not turn on as I expected it would, but the lights in the fridge were on. Oh no! Fridge isn't working. By now it was 8 pm, and my now defrosted food would be without refrigeration all night. After 20 min, fridge still did not turn on, dead! I called the business, but got answering service who took my message. Vladimir did not call back that night, but after another 30 min, I could hear that the fridge motor was finally now running. After a few hours, I could feel it was certainly cooling. Vladimir called me in the morning, and told me that it was "normal" for the fridge not to start right away, but I wish he told me when he was here, so I wouldn't panic. I am writing this review 4 days later and my fridge is running GREAT! He saved my food, and I couldn't believe he was at my door in 30 min after calling him.
