Such a cute restaurant. It's a perfect date night spot and the food is always good. The staff is super friendly and the service is fast. The blueberry cheesecake was also phenomenal! I recommend splitting their pizzas as an app. Been here a few times and I always leave happy and satisfied. read more

Amazing inclusive menu in the heart of West Seattle. Are you gluten free? Vegetarian? Muslim and can't eat pork but love lamb? You have PLENTY of options here. We eat too much processed flour based food anyway. Everything here feels real, chef made, and tasty. The cocktails are great as well. Don't miss the lamb rack with the best risotto I've ever had. The lamb shank and Turkish coffee martini were also delish. Big menu, great ambiance, would return! read more

Cute place. Good for a date or a friend's night out, or even a small family dinner. The 39 spice beef was FAB. I would honestly only go back for that. The saffron chicken kabob and burrata were okay. The cauliflower dish was meh. The food is not the issue here, it's the service. The servers are nice but maybe a little too beginner? Friend got his mocktail about 10 mins before I had to tag them down for my wine. I had to remind them which wine it was. We didn't get plates until after the food arrived. It was a bit hectic. Also, an absolute no to the baklava dessert. I would remove it from the menu immediately. read more

Wow, fantastic Mediterranean place to eat. Awesome service, I love the wsy they all took care of tables and all pitched in. Awesome. The appetizers and Dinner was amazing. Our son and my hubby loved this place. The Bruje Royal Drink was do refreshing, hubby had Paper Plane bourbon drink, Son had a Night Shade drink with Rye Whiskey. Very nice restaurant. The woman owner is amazing! If you could clone her it would be an amazing place. It was a Saturday night and we had reservations but we saw others walk in and get seated. As a business owner myself, you never turn down money unless the place is already super busy and people are waiting extra long for service, food, drinks and even their checks. Food was delicious but it was an extremely long time to get our apps, entree and bill. But overall I'll be back but not on a weekend night. read more

I had a really wonderful meal at the Phoenecia. It serves and interesting combination of pizzas and small plates--but works well. They have a great wine list--I ordered a great Walla Walla Vinters Cuvee. I started with the trio of spreads--hummus, labneh, and baba ghanoush. This was served with warm pita. All the spreads were great, but my favorite was probably the hummus. They all had really good flavor. Next was the saffron chicken. This was absolutely delicious and the sauce was incredible. The chicken was cooked perfectly. I ordered some extra pita bread just to be able to sop up the saffron sauce it was so good. Next, I had some of the garlic green beans. The beans were really fresh and the garlic was not overpowering. I ended with the lamb chop lollipops. There were just two on the plate, but these were fantastic. They were flavored and cooked expertly. read more

Stopped by for late dinner this past weekend and was very happy with our visit. Food: The menu consisted of small plates, entrees, and pizza. We decided to stick to a variety of small plates. We found that 5 small plates & 2 desserts was more than enough for the 2 of us. The food was absolutely delicious. Our favorite was the trio spread and 39 spice beef. The baklava with rose ice cream was incredible! Service: Service was great! They really do work as a team here. Jeffrey was amazing and is a big reason we'll be back (even if we live 40 mins away). Corkage fee: For those who enjoy bringing their own nice bottle of wine or just have a favorite they enjoy, the corkage fee is $25. Overall, very impressed and will be back soon! read more

Had the best experience at Phoenecia tonight - we've lived in West Seattle for a bit and have been eyeing this place. So glad we finally got a chance to go! The atmosphere is super welcoming and trendy. We were treated with kindness from the moment we walked in. We especially loved our server Jeffrey who was one of a kind. We ordered a few different things and loved it all - - Mediterranean Gin and Tonic: Refreshing and crisp and presented in such a cute way with herbs and fruit - Lebanese Flatbread: I absolutely love za'atar so this was a hit for me. It was flavorful and not too heavy for an appetizer - Burrata: The bread that came with this was perfect as it was not too toasted but also not cold. The cheese itself was also delicious and a decent portion for sharing with a group - Kale Salad: OMG this surprised us. The combination of ingredients and the dressing were phenomenal. I would eat this everyday if I could. - Mushroom Gnocchi: Also delicious. It was a crispy gnocchi rather than saucy, which I thought was a nice change from typical gnocchi dishes I've had. The spices were flavorful and the mushrooms were cooked to perfection - Chocolate Hazelnut Cake was absolutely divine! I came here for the first time today at the invitation of an acquaintance. The car is street parking near the restaurant. And at the restaurant you need to wear a mask and show your vaccination card. It is cold near the entrance every time customers come and go. If you're cold, I recommended to sit in the back of the room. When I entered the restaurant, I was impressed by the wonderful atmosphere. Our reservation was at 5:45pm, after sooner full of customers. First we ordered Tiramisu Cocktail : Dark rum, espresso liqueur, Borsci amaro, mascarpone cheese, and coffee. Seasonal Cocktail called Champagne Revolution: Champagne, ginger, gin, lemon, prosecco. Both Cocktails are yummy and easy to drink. Small plate for Lamb Chop Lollipops: Grilled with fresh rosemary garlic butter. Manilla Clams: Steamed with garlic, herbs, white wine, and a touch of red sauce. Eggplant Lamb Ragu: Tender roasted eggplant topped with lamb ragu, mozzarella, and pine nuts. Fresh mozzarella, Roma tomatoes and basil nestled adtop fresh basil oil. ***Three to four small plates would be the equivalent of one entree volume. So we chosen 2 entries for 4 people. One for Balsamic Braised Lamb Shank: Rich, balsamic-braised lamb shank is served with roasted potatoes and creamy garlic kale. Lamb was so tender and delicious. Highly recommend it. Second entry for Spaghetti Squash - vegetarian: Spaghetti squash sautéed with shallots, garlic and basil, served with with a robust tomato sauce, and topped with freshly grated pecorino cheese and sunflower seeds. Good taste. We ended up with Turkish coffees and Turkish Affogato: Turkish coffee poured over your choice of vanilla or rose ice cream. Add biscotti liqueur for an additional. Fiery Lamb and Chevre Pizza was taken home. *All the food was delicious and I had a great time. Thank you for good service. We will come again. read more

Decided to venture out and try a new place not around my hood and it did not disappoint. I came here with a few girlfriends and we were all really impressed. We ordered the trio of spreads and it was great! Perfect start to the meal. You could tell they were made freshly and the bread soft and fluffy it just melted in your mouth. My friend split the Saffron Chicken Linguini for our entree and OMG it was delicious. I kinda regretted that I was splitting it because I honestly could have ate the whole thing lol will definitely come back to have that again as well as try more items! At one point during the meal a server broke out in song singing a song from Beauty and the Beast lol Overall we had a great experience and I will be back!! read more

I needed a Friday night West Seattle dinner reservation for an impromptu friend date that was planned the day before. When I saw I could snag a reservation at Phoenecia on Yelp, I grabbed it. Most tables were full when I arrived and was warmly greeted at the door. The room was humming, but not too loud for conversation. I was offered a beverage right away while waiting for my friend to arrive, and went with the Strawberry Thyme Faux-jito, which was delicious. Pal and I decided to go with small plates and the Kale Caesar. From the small plates menu section we tried Lebanese Flatbread, Saffron Chicken, Tiger Prawns, Garlic Green Beans and Roasted Cauliflower. All of the portions were generous for small plates, and some dishes stood out more than others, like the juicy, well cooked shrimp and the green beans, which came with a tarragon cream dipping sauce. I liked the flatbread, which had just a dusting of Zaatar, crumbled feta and some olives. I had expected it to be more like a Maneesh (apply one of the various spellings here), but it was more like a (good) pizza dough, which makes sense since they have several pizzas on the menu. The cauliflower was the only disappointment as it was undercooked, but did come with a nice labneh that I was more interested in eating on the flatbread. The kale Caesar was meh. We had a chocolate hazelnut mousse type cake the server said was "from Italy". It was good, but I am not dreaming about it like I sometimes do about desserts. Overall Phoenecia is a solid Mediterranean choice with welcoming service in a pleasant setting. read more

Absolutely one of our favorite restaurants not just in Seattle but overall. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable and the food is amazing, you'll be thinking about the saffron chicken weeks later and the lamb is a dish we always return to as well, so tender and flavorful and cooked perfectly to just fall apart and melt in your mouth. Even the pizza is memorable, and the sharables are so fresh and a perfect way to prepare for the delicious meal ahead. Ask Jeffery for a wine pairing and you'll not be disappointed, he always makes our visit even better. The family is wonderful and we fell in love with the story of the restaurant. Wonderful food and drinks. The service is amazing and feels like a family community there, though I came from a job site once and kind looked like a hobo (got the side eye for the way i was dressed). Happy I tried it once and have been back many times since. They're always accommodating, even if my visits are short. Love pretty much everything. It's a date night/intimate place, imo. read more

Iv been wanting to try Phoenicia out for a while now and finally made the drive up here. Absolutely worth it! The food, drinks and total ambience is spectacular! Everything was amazing! I got the fig and pancetta pizza and garlic clams the sauce on them was so good. The owners Sonya and Naudea are so sweet, warm and welcoming! Phoencia review: overrated Food * Flatbread was a pizza. I loved the crust but not what was expecting. * Pita served with spreads was store bought, and not good * Spreads were tiny servings and doused in oil, pine nuts overpowered flavor of babba ganoush. Could not tell which spread was hummus and which one was babba... feta spread was lackluster. * Olives were good, presentation was bad, just thrown onto a salad plate. * Lamb chops needed more salt, seasoning. * Same lame presentation and sauces with both chops and prawns. Is that even Mediterranean - arugula and a buerre blanc sauce. * Drink did not taste like a G&T, but was a pretty presentation. We stopped by last week and had a wonderful evening. Rather than picking entrees we shared a variety of small plates. It was a super busy night, and our server Joe took good care of us despite the amount of people there. The food was delicious, especially the trio of dips with pita, lamb lollipops and fig salad. Such a cozy intimate experience! We weren't in a rush so although the dishes came out one at a time, no worries for us. We loved it and will be back again soon read more

Lovely Friday evening here! We had some cocktails close by at the Alley. Bartender there suggested Phoenicia for a "classy dining experience." It was classy indeed. We had previously come here when it was alchemy so it was interesting to see the space re-imagined with a European/Mediterranean touch. Our server was amazing - brought out several wine tastings to ensure I liked my selection. Ended up going with the Couvent from Lebanon and enjoyed. Bolder and fuller bodied compared to the other red glass pours. For dinner we ordered burrata, clams and pizza to share. We couldn't decide between the pizzas so got half squash half prosciutto. YUM. Those were amazing!! Perfectly cooked pies and tasted so fresh. The only "complaint" was the value equation of the apps. Definitely not entree sized - but entree prices. $17 for burrata and $19 for the clams. Don't get me wrong...the flavors were amazing, (especially the tomato broth of the clams. I kept it to dip pizza crust in. Great decision) but still very much on the pricy end for apps. Anyway - we look forward to coming back. Excellent service and great ambiance. read more

This is my favorite place, hands down. The food is amazing. I seriously have never had anything bad from the menu. I used to come here all the time when I lived on Alki, and even years later the ladies still remember my order even though my visits are few and far between. My favorite is the trio of spreads and the saffron chicken. Make sure to ask for some extra pita! read more

Established in 1974.

Phoenecia first opened as a very small mom and pops middle eastern restaurant on California Ave in the West Seattle Junction. West Seattle was a very different place back then with very few ethnic restaurants in sight. Founder Hussein Khazaal would give his food away for free just so his customers could get a taste of these dishes they had never heard of before. He knew once they had a taste of the delicious exotic flavors they would be hooked and coming back for more. Phoenecia has remained family owned and operated to this very day. Now located on 42nd ave phoenecia is run by Hussein’s wife and two daughters. Sadly founder Hussein Khazaal passed in 2009.

The bitch sauce and the cheese is what makes this so special. The cheesy grits were also really good and very cheesy. I struggle to give this five stars as I don't know if it's worth it if you have to wait over an hour like I did, but if I only had to wait 30 minutes I may have felt different.

Maybe this restaurant shines more as a dine-in experience, but based on our takeout order, I left pretty disappointed. Between the portion sizes, quality, and overall value, it just didn't live up to the price.

The entire time we were outside, we were the only people waiting, and we even saw her setting up the outside seating as the restaurant got busier. She never once checked in with us or said anything. The food was good, and our service once we were seated was great. Unfortunately, our first interaction with the host left a bad first impression and took away from the overall experience. On the beach! Food was very tasty. Beutifully designed space. So why one star? Read on. First off the service was abysmal. It's not that they were rude, in fact they were quite friendly, but that was the only redeeming quality about them. We ordered several small plates, .Never got three of the things we ordered. Once our food was dropped off (two items we did not order were dropped off as well), we were completely left to fend for ourselves. After waiting for what seemed forever, we simply ate the items that we did not order and didn't have the chance to ask for what we did order. Also, we would have ordered more wine, but were never offered. Food is very tasty, but very overpriced. Prices out comparably to Mistral Kitchen. Sorry Phoenicia, you are no Mistral, you are a neighborhood joint selling simple dishes like green beans and hummus. The place is very cramped. I'm all for cozy, but the tables are so close to eachother, that our server would bump into my boyfriend every time she walked past our table as she was trying to squeeze by to get to the next table, awkward. All of these things were mere irritations. The deal killer for us was the lack of cleanliness. We were given a smal table by the window, which would have been wonderful since this restaurant is situated on the beach. The problem was that the window was so dirty we could barely see out. Party Size: 4 Location: This restaurant is in a good location in west Seattle. It's not on the busy street of California/Alaska junction but nearby. Parking : There is street parking, paid garage parking, and the Safeway parking lot(which I recommend). Experience: Great atmosphere. Mellow mood not too loud and no deafing silence. Service : Our server Chris was extremely polite and pleasant. I would say the same about the rest of the staff . Entire staff was very welcoming. Food: Food was delicious, it did wonders for my taste palates. Would highly recommend both the saffron chicken and the 39 spice beef. We originally came just for drinks so we sat at the bar. There is a sit down section and an actual bar section which I thought was nice and different. I don't drink but my friends enjoyed their drinks. My girlfriend didn't enjoy hers as much but they whipped her up a new one and she seemed to enjoy the new one. This restaurant is not too expensive but on the pricery end but gives a nice fancy feel. The downside of the restaurant is that it is kinda of tight and makes me feel a little claustrophobic. However the experience was one to enjoy and I will be returning! read more

We went to Phoenicia on a recent Thursday night, based on yelp reviews, and were extremely disappointed. Positives: The quinoa tabbouleh was good and pizza tasted ok, although so much olive oil was put on top that part of the dough became soggy and a large oil slick was left on the plate. The food was also served quickly. Negatives: There was seemingly no one running the front-of-house, so we awkwardly waited inside the door for at least 5 minutes before we were even acknowledged/greeted. Some of the menu items we sampled were big misses. The garlic green beans sadly had no garlic flavor (or evidence they were cooked in garlic) at all -- and instead tasted as though they were bathed in butter. A prawn dish w/ chili paste was bland and had no hint of heat from chili. The restaurant was also too loud to hold anything resembling a normal conversation. Sadly enough, as I was thinking this to myself a woman at a neighboring table was complaining to her table-mates about this same problem! The dining room at Phoenecia has a cool ambiance. It's not too casual or stuffy, it's just right for a nice meal or date night. My husband and I visited for our anniversary and were seated at a beautiful, secluded table with huge comfy chairs. We loved it! The food was really good. I tried their Lebanese flatbread and saffron chicken, and my husband had the wild mushroom gnocchi. The gnocchi was AMAZING. I can't wait to go back so I can have my own plate. The flatbread was yummy too, and I had a sparkling limoncello to drink, which was wonderful. We were really happy with everything. I also tried an amaro for the first time on our server's recommendation, and I'm so glad I did! It was a cool way to end a special meal. One thing that really impressed me was the team at Phoenecia. They all pitched in and were very customer service oriented. One of the owners was there at the front checking people in, and she'd go help clear tables and keep things moving on their busy Saturday night. We had high hopes for Phoenecia based on yelp reviews and its ideal location by Alki Beach. It was sad that the quality of food and service did not match with these expectations. #1) The food was under-seasoned, bland, and left much to be desired. #2) The raved about pizza was acceptable though unimpressive. The toppings had slid to the center of the pizza, leaving half of the dish pure crust (which was overly salty) and was drenched in olive oil. #3) Please, please, please hire a front-of-house host/hostess. It is rude and awkward to be left standing at your door for extended periods of time waiting to see whether a customer is welcome in your restaurant. #4) Don't seat a party of two at a table for 4 and then tell them that half of their table might be removed at a later time to accommodate other guests. This is simply rude. #5) It is not possible to hear yourself think or others speak in this restaurant. This problem is only amplified by the addition of playing loud music in the restaurant. If you're looking for a place to have dinner on a date, AVOID this restaurant. read more

So amazing!!! After a long wait it's finally open and there is not a single disappointing aspect of the dining experience. This restaurant has tapped into the family style dinning experience by offering a tapas style menu as well as pizza, so that you can share and enjoy several different plates without breaking the bank. For those who are not so adventurous they have a beautiful special board with traditional style entrée's. I do have to say watch out Serious Pie, this is now the best pizza in Seattle. With an 800-degree oven pizza oven and 72 hours to prepare the dough, the crust is thin, flavorful and perfect. This place never disappoints! It's no wonder they're celebrating 50 amazing years in West Seattle. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the food is consistently fantastic. The sister duo who own and run it add such a personal touch--they're always stopping by, sharing tips, and making sure everything's perfect. The staff is top-notch, too! I can't get enough of the Saffron Chicken and the Burrata-- my go-tos! The beef in mushroom sauce is rich and flavorful, and if you're in the mood for pizza, you won't be disappointed.
