The banh mi was quite sizeable and was crunchy, full of meats and pate. The spicy beef pho broth was really good. My favorite was probably the rice bowl, everything was seasoned to perfection. The service here is a bit slow and the restaurant and servers seem quite new, everyone was kind but the service was slow. The restaurant was beautiful with different seating available. But the main dish, short rib pho was a delight. Rich with flavor, short rib was cooked to perfection and I chose to add bok chop, egg and chilli oil. When you are served your pho, the server will provide your table with the necessary: lime, bay leaves and chopped jalapeño. Oh and when you come here it's a dry bar but their passion fruit soda doesn't disappoint at all. The atmosphere is calm and it's well decorated. Broth is separate from the noodles and beef, and the bean sprouts are also separate as well. Iced coffee was wrapped beautifully so there was no spilling. So I decided to try their main dishes /appetizers. I got their summer rolls with shrimp & avocado and pork bao buns (the latter is not on their online menu currently). On their menu in person they also offered set combos with their pho and banh mi. Overall the flavor was there and the food was freshly prepared. Even with proof on the Grubhub app and an email, they said they could not make the order for me without ME actually calling Grubhub. In addition, I had a serious time constraint because I was trying to eat lunch before my daughter's Christmas recital, of which I even informed them, but to no avail. I went here twice in two weeks and had an excellent experience each time. Pho is one of of my favorite things and I especially love an authentic pho experience, which is what you get here at Phobar. First I got the Saigon Pho. The server offered to make it spicy, and I said sure. Maybeeee it was a little bit spicy? Not sure. But I don't care, that's what Siracha is for. All that really matters to me is that the broth is amazing, and it was. And this place has all the fixings at the ready for you, including fish and hoisin sauce. The serving size was good and the broth was delicious. I was out the door for $20 including tax and 20% tip. Next time I went with a friend and we shared the shrimp summer roles and I got the spare rib pho. The summer roles were awesome. The pho blew me away. See photo -- it was as good as it looks. The ambiance is great. You actually want to eat inside this restaurant. It's cute but not fancy. I'm used to blown out ugly pho restaurants. Those are great too. Sometimes you just need to refuel. This places gives you a little something more without the additional price tag. They put in enough to work to make it nice and show they actually care about the place. I like sitting at the bar, but the tables are great if you have a few people. I would go here at least once a week if I lived closer. I am not going to knock off a star for lack of alcohol, but I could really use a cheap Asian beer with my pho. I hope they are working on the liquor license. Pho to me is very simple so when the flavors hit well it's such a plus. We also shared some fried spring rolls, they were good. My husband always wants soup when he's sick. He usually goes for pho. This pho place just opened so we decided to make the 10min trek in the rain to try it out. The place is pretty chill and has a laid-back vibe. I ordered a thai tea and the sauteed shrimp & fried roll vermicelli. My husband got the Saigon pho. We also started off the vegetable spring roll. I honestly thought it was going to be those spring rolls wrapped in the super thin rice paper, but it was fried, which is fine. My husband prefers fried haha. The pho looked really good and my husband completely inhaled it...well not inhaled because he has a cold, but he definitely ate it really fast. I was a bit slower eating my vermicelli. I have to say though, that the shrimp was super good. I don't know what they sautéed it with or the sauce that was on it, but it was memorable. I've been thinking about it all day. The fried rolls were also really good. I haven't had them in a long time and I finally got my fix. The environment is super laid back, the staff are chill, and honestly, if it wasn't raining so hard yesterday, it would've been the perfect place to just sit and chill and sip thai tea. I really appreciated their attention and patience regarding the question! The interior of the restaurant has a tropical vibe with both booths and bar seating. I loved the neon light cat - so cute! The beef pho was nicely packaged with the soup and noodles separated - however I wished the beef was separated so it didn't get cooked all the way. The fried egg rolls with pork and shrimp were delicious as were the fried brussel sprouts (brussels were nicely charred). The beef pho is sooo flavorful and not too heavy. The bun bo hue is better than the ones I've had in vietnam tbh - I prefer the pho noodles (bun bo hue noodles are thicker), so they allow for me to swap them out too. Food is really good. The soup is not watered down. This place has legit pho. I don't think people know what good pho is. I saw people putting Hoisin sauce in their pho and ruining it. I'm like 1) you took my order when I got here, but then you didn't put it in so 2) the waitress came and took my order. They were apologetic but just confused. It took them a second to get the menus for us, but in the end the service was great. For the mains, we got the Special Spicy Pho & the Pork Chop Pho, both of which were really homey, and rich while still being light enough to not feel overwhelming. Love this new spot! For only 8 months into their biz they have it together. I really appreciated the fresh, healthy menu choices, the kind staff, the inviting interior, the menu design and the positive vibe. I wasn't super hungry so ordered the lettuce-wrap spring rolls, a bowl of beef broth and tried the mango lemonade. The rolls did not disappoint. Flavorful and crunchy. I liked the half-leaf lettuce to DIY wrap (often the full leaf is too much and you have to wrestle with it). The mango lemonade was great with crushed ice (nice detail!). The beef broth was nice with onions and parsley floating. Perfect on a cold night. Note: I'd prefer if they made it a little more rich, deeper flavor. It seemed too transluscent. We were so excited to learn Phobar was reopening so close to where we live! (Just reopened about two weeks ago.) Portion sizes are better than most pho places in New York, with generous amounts of meat and pho noodles. Pho beef broth is 10/10, not too salty, and full of flavor. I was especially excited to try oxtail pho, as this is probably the only location I've been to that has oxtail pho. (And I've tried many pho places around the country!) My partner and I both preferred the oxtail pho, though he also really enjoyed the spicy short rib pho he had ordered. Excited to try other things on the menu, and whenever they bring back their 24 hour stewed broth!
