We had a takeout order of a vegetarian banh mi and vegetarian vermicelli. The banh mi had basically the same filling as the toppings on the noodles, which was alright in flavor and had a nice chew to it, but I found the bread to be a bit stale and almost dense. I found the vermicelli needed a bit more of the sauce than was provided, but was otherwise fine. Unfortunately, there was an insect trapped underneath the lid of the container that we discovered later. Not worth a repeat visit. read more

I went to Phobar with my family post-Nets game. It's a short walk away from the Barclays Center so it's a solid option for food before or after an event. My cousin made a reservation beforehand so we were seated very quickly. The place is on the smaller side but there are a decent amount of seats. The waitress was pretty quick to take our order and I also noticed she was tending the bar too. I went with the Classic Banh Mi and a hot Vietnamese coffee. Both items were fantastic and I think the Banh Mi was pretty good value. It was less than $9 and it was a really good banh mi. The bread was crunchy without being overly dry. It had all the classic fillings including a generous helping of pate. I tried my girlfriend's pork chop and it was good, nothing amazing. My other companions seemed to enjoy their dishes. Food4/5: Mama Q Wonton Pho was very fresh and tasty where I could taste the ginger in the broth and other ingredients incorporated. Appetizers: Fried Calamari 10/10 so delish! Drink : Mango Jasmine ice tea fresh and not too sweet but sweet enough. May need to stir it up a bit because the sweetness settles at the bottom. Just remember these three words. Short. Rib. Pho. I give Phobar a warm welcome to Brooklyn as the pho here definitely warms my soul on a cold and rainy day. The short rib pho was excellent, served with bone and all. The rib meat was so soooo tender that i didn't need a knife to cut into it at all. It just melted away in the delicate pho broth and complemented the noodles perfectly. Also, I loved the complemented Vietnamese ice coffee made with coconut milk, which was a nice touch. Literally amazed!!! I ordered DoorDash from here for a weekday lunch. I tried the lemongrass chicken pho and had to get a Vietnamese iced coffee. Oh my god was I surprised. I wasn't expecting much, but this turned out to me one of the best meals I've had in NYC. The chicken is grilled to perfection and the broth is amazing. They even provided a pho spoon for takeout orders, which there is no better way of enjoying your meal! The iced coffee was also top 3 for me. It was strong but sweet and not overpowering. My second time here, and every bite was as delicious as my first time. We ordered the Vietnamese coffee and Thai milk tea for drinks. These drinks had the perfect amount of flavor and sweetness. Spring rolls were crispy and bursting with flavor. We also had oxtail pho and short rib vermicelli. The oxtail was very soft and pho was great. Very cute interior with different seating options available. If you're lucky you can get one of the booths. Otherwise there's counter seating that surrounds the bar in the middle of the restaurant or one of larger communal tables. Each seating area has chopsticks, poison sauce, and sriracha there. Service is on point; not coming by too much but often enough you're taken care of. My boyfriend and I were super hungry that day, and we had the bok choy and fried spring rolls as apps. They both tasted great. (Although I may have felt a bit guilty paying $8 for that small portion of bok choy... no regrets!) I ordered the spicy short rib pho. The short rib really falls off the bone and is delicious meat. There were also sooo many noodles in my soup! My boyfriend got the combo - classic beef pho and classic pork banh mi. Both were good and a great deal of $16 when you're feeling indecisive, although it wasn't amazing beef pho nor amazing banh mi. Still great meal though, and I'd go back! read more

They are a cash only establishment, but if you did happen to forget to bring any, they do have an ATM (not sure how much the fee is). For my drink, I got the passion fruit soda which was very tasty. My meal was the crispy catfish banh mi. Perfectly hit the spot. I did ask for mine to be spicy and it sure was - I'll probably ask for something milder next time, haha. I'll be back with another review because I'll be back at pho bar lol Let me tell you, the best soup for hangover, sickness, or when your stomach just needs a hug. They have great drink options, my favorite is the passion fruit soda. It's been a bit busy for the past few months but spoke with a worker the other day and you have to come at less busy times. We were seated around 4, IMMEDIATELY. Lunch had just finished and it was empty. Plus we finally got our booth seat lol. It gets so busy that you could wait for a few hours, we never had to, maybe 45 min with 2 ppl but if you request a booth, expect longer wait times. Cash-only spot for pho in Park Slope! They've been circulating on social media for their combo banh mi and pho, which is nice for people who really enjoy both. I ended up just getting the full size pho brisket, which was great, especially as the days have been getting colder. The broth is very flavorful and the portion sizes are large! It comes with bean sprouts, thai basil, lime, and jalapeños. We also got the sautéed veggies and got the broccoli which was cooked well, but maybe a bit too saucy / salty. The restaurant ambience was nice but it was freezing inside as people waiting in line held the entrance open. Diners around us, including ourselves, kept our winter jackets on inside the restaurant. It wasn't until getting the pho that we warmed up and could remove our coat. Unfortunately, I felt pretty rushed while ordering and eating. Our server also forgot to give us utensils initially after bringing out the food, and we had to wait to catch her again before we could dig in. Short rib on bone pho is bomb! I like their egg rolls too. Solid Vietnamese place but expect to pay a bit more for good meat cuts and prime prospect location. The spicy short rib pho was extremely good -- 10/10. The Brussels sprouts and passion fruit lemonade were also excellent. I'm actually quite surprised with how tasty all of this was. I came in here knowing that I wanted to try the pho but I saw that they had a lunch special so I opted to try that out as well. What I ordered: Saigon Pho ($15.95): I wanted to try a little bit of each meat so this was the preferred choice for me. The soup was a bit sweet but it had the nice beef broth that I would expect with what a bowl of pho. I did order this to go and the soup was very hot in its plastic container but it was nice because when you poured it out, it was still steaming hot. The only thing I wish they had was a side of hoisin sauce or sriracha along with the to go order. Lunch special with popcorn chicken (honey sesame), vermicelli, 2 pork and shrimp spring rolls, and a soda ($10.95). This dish was pretty good because the chicken was crispy and sweet while the side salad gave it a nice crisp with fresh lettuce. The fish sauce was also very tasty. Total came to be about $30 with tax included. Not a bad place to give it a try. They did mess up on my drink though.. I work in this area and I was looking for a restaurant that delivers good customer service and great food. I ordered Shrimp Pho with extra bean sprouts online. The food arrived without the Hoisin sauce. I'm deeply disappointed, because if I was in the restaurant I wouldn't specifically have to ask for the Hoisin sauce, why would I expect differently online? I believed it was included with the entree. I called the restaurant after I received the delivery and expressed my disappointment. They explained that the Hoisin sauce is not included in online orders, if you don't ask for it. The customer service and concern was minimal at best. They offered an apology but, absolutely nothing for my inconvenience. The food was bland, not what I expected at all. This is my first time ordering from them and definitely my last. This was my first time trying Pho and I decided to come here because of all the TikTok hype, I was worried it would be a long wait but I was seated right away. It's a small restaurant but the aesthetic is really cute and the service was great! All of my food came out really fast, and all of the staff were attentive. But the flavor or lack there of just wasn't it, I was expecting a savory broth like ramen but it tasted like they just boiled the meat in water. Wouldn't recommend, probably not coming back. At first, the restaurant looks hip and it has such a modern vibe, but otherwise mostly everything else fell flat. Growing up near San Jose, I have a high bar for Vietnamese food, so when I ordered Saigon Pho here, it was really disappointing. The broth had no flavor. Noodles were fine in texture, but the beef was mediocre. I'm reading through some of the reviews and I'm surprised by the comments that this is an "authentic pho experience." Something tells me they haven't had a lot of exposure to eating real Vietnamese food. The one saving grace in the food experience was the calamari. This should've been the first sign on the authenticity of this restaurant. I don't know a lot of Vietnamese places that have this on the menu. You're probably thinking "why did you order it then?" The table next to us ordered it and the smell lured us in. I'll give this shop credit where it's due. The calamari was well seasoned and soft on the chew. The service is what crystallized the one-star review. No one checked in with us after they served our meal. I'm not sure if we did something or said anything, but they went around checking in with other tables around us, even offering more bean sprouts to the table next to us. They didn't really care to say anything or asked if we needed more water. When my girlfriend went up to the bathroom, one of the servers started clearing up her side of the table and taking her cup of water. We were waiting for 10-20 minutes for the check before they finally gave us the check (we had to ask).
