Searching for a banh mi sandwich with tofu for a quick lunch takeout, I was pleased to see that the restaurant was close to interstate 45 for a quick stop on the way back to Houston (timing is everything to beat the traffic in this area - IYKYK). I ended up ordering both the tofu vermicelli and a tofu banh mi because obviously, you need to try more than one thing. It was fine. Out of the two dishes, the vermicelli was my favorite. It came with a generous portion of noodles, a small lettuce and shredded carrot salad, several large wedges of tofu in a kind of curry sauce, and the classic vermicelli sauce to drizzle over the whole dish. The flavor was good, although what I would consider a slight deviation from traditional flavors, and overall filling. Vermicelli is always a dependable choice and I was satisfied with this dish. The tofu banh mi, however was nothing special. I prefer the bread to be a bit more crispy on the outside with a soft interior and this one was fairly soft all over. Inside, the tofu really needed more seasoning, seemingly cooked without any added flavors except for the fried finish. I added some hoisin sauce but still it needed something more. I'm always eager to try new places but not sure that this one will be a repeat for me.

I love this restaurant. I come here at least once a week to get the seafood pho, which I love! I can't speak on other items on the menu because I order the same thing everytime that I got inside of this restaurant. I read a couple reviews about people saying that the workers in there are rude. This has not been the case for me. They are always so pleasant and accommodating to me and my family. I would recommend the seafood pho to everybody that visits. read more

The kitchen has like 10-15 people, but there is hardly any representation in the front handling the customers. The speed of service is so slow. I think it took roughly 30 minutes after order before it came out. At another table of 4 people, one person's dish didn't come out until the other 3 finished their meal. Timing is important. 2. Price - $15-$20 for a bowl of pho. $8-$12 for Banh Mi. Expensive Vietnamese food that I can get for much cheaper in Chinatown. However, keep in mind that they are serving the suburbs in the North of Houston. 3. Ambiance - dark walls, lanterns in the ceiling, it feels a bit clustered inside. Dress code here is casual. I even asked ahead of time if the soup would include cartilage, which is usually part of a proper pho, and was told yes, but it wasn't there. What really concerned me was finding fruit flies in the soup. That raised serious questions about cleanliness and food handling, especially if soups are being left uncovered. One thing that also stood out was that, although this is presented as a Vietnamese restaurant, the kitchen staff did not appear to be Vietnamese. While anyone can cook any cuisine, authenticity and attention to traditional flavors really matter, and based on the taste of the food, that authenticity seemed to be missing. When the bill came, I calmly explained everything, expecting at least some acknowledgment or effort to make it right, but nothing meaningful was done.
