I have mixed feelings about this place. The dining room is bright and clean, the service is friendly and attentive, and the menu is well-organized and informative, with lots of good pictures. The portions are generous and prices are in line with similar places around here, with an interesting difference--on the standard bowl of pho you can add up to three meat choices. My biggest reservation is that the pho broth was bland. At my favorite pho joints, I'm accustomed to very rich and complex broth and I can imagine some grandma in the kitchen simmering the stuff for hours. On my recent lunch there, I had to keep adding stuff--lime, sriracha, chili oil, even soy sauce--to get much flavor. Perfect day for pho. This ended up being the only pho spot open the day after New Year's, and they were open all the way until 9pm. We decided on pho last minute and it was about a 25-minute drive, so we called ahead. The guy on the phone suggested placing our order in advance since they were closing in less than an hour, which was super helpful. Once we arrived and sat down, our food came out within 10-15 minutes. He kindly apologized for the wait, explaining that it was an unusually busy night since all the other pho places were closed and everyone was craving something warm and comforting because of the cold, gloomy weather. They were so busy they even ran out of bean sprouts, which was a little disappointing since they really make pho extra special. The space itself is casual, clean, and roomy with plenty of seating. We also ordered their dumplings and fried egg rolls, and both were delicious. The pho itself was incredible. Big, flavorful, and so satisfying. We finished every last bite, and the spice even helped clear up some sinus congestion we were dealing with. Despite the chaos of the night, we left happy and full. Got some lunch from my favorite oak hill Vietnamese spot! Love these Vietnamese egg rolls so much. I love that you can get a party tray of them! The appetizer has 4 for $7. Usually when you dine in, it comes with some lettuce which is a great pairing, didn't get it with my Togo order but that's okay. I was pleasantly surprised by the extra half of a sub in my order. I always thought a banh mi should not be more than $8 but with the extra portion, I understand why they are priced at $10. Actually a steal if you think about it. My favorite protein for anything Vietnamese is pork. The meat was plentiful and savory. While I was waiting for my order, I saw a mochi fridge that I'd never seen before. It's was interesting to see and definitely made me want one. The restaurant was quite busy on a Tuesday at 1pm. Which makes me so happy for the owner, always love supporting them. This is probably just a restaurant you go to when you're too lazy to cook but still want to sit down somewhere (i.e. don't want takeout). They probably also make a killing from their takeout business. Either way, I still think they should invest more into presentation. Also, small note but we were only given one pair of chopsticks - my mom and I wondered if they assumed I didn't know how to use them for being an Asian American young person When both noodle dishes came out, the food was sitting so haphazardly on the odd rectangular plate they chose I started to question if this was gonna be good. I thought my singapore noodles were way too spicy but flavor was still great. My mom had the stir fried noodles and they weren't spicy, had ok flavor, but the noodles looked cut up & not several longer pieces. When the shaken beef came out, that had better presentation but seems to be inconsistent based on photos I saw on Beli. It was also miles better than my dish, makes sense why it's a chef's special. Next time we'll have to try their pho, which is what they are actually known for & what we saw 2 other patrons eating. And maybe also some of the Chinese appetizers they kept tantalizingly showing on the TV. read more

I go here for Pho although they have a long menu of mainly traditional Vietnamese and Chinese dishes. There are many pho restaurants so I give them 3.5/5 stars compared to others in Austin. Service is fast a friendly. Spring rolls are reasonable in quality. Prices are among the lowest. I will continue eating here as it is nearby. Plenty of options in terms of proteins, grilled or lemongrass stir fry (spicy). I got pork lemongrass stir fry, and it was quite spicy. I may ask for less spicy next time. We also got a grilled chicken bowl and that was delicious too. Each of us were able to get two meals out of them. We also ate inside this time around. The inside is casual and clean. The Pho was great, not the biggest fan of the meatball option but the rare steak and brisket with beef broth were on point. Huge portions and enough to have leftovers with an appetizer. The best pho in town for me is Pho Phong Luu. But if you live south it can be a bit of a trek to get there. So I was curious how Pho Wok would be once it opened since I would obviously love a place closer to home. I've been here a few times now and I have to say I'm pretty impressed. Their pho is the closest thing I've had to PPL anywhere. It has a clean, light but flavorful broth. It's not overly spiced with anise, clove, etc like a lot of places can be. It really tastes like they go through the trouble of making it correctly. It always comes out piping hot and the portion is generous. The first couple of times the soup was a little underseasoned but they seem to have corrected this on my last few visits. I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. I wasn't expecting much to be honest, especially since pho is really a tiny corner of their menu. But it's definitely legit. Service here is always super friendly. My only critique would be that they don't have traditional combos like pho dac biet, etc. You're limited to two protein choices and everything after that is an add on. Having said that, south Austin sorely needs more quality Asian food, and somehow Pho Wok has come out of nowhere to have some of the best Pho in town. Hidden gem for sure, but hopefully not for too much longer. read more

They were very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed during our meal. We split the House Spring rolls as the appetizer. They were really tasty and came with a good peanut sauce. The interesting thing to us is they didn't have vermicelli in them, but that was okay with us because we love veggies. My boyfriend had the Beef Pho with Rare Steak and Meatballs. The pho broth was clear and had a good balance of ginger and other flavors. I had the Grilled Shrimp Vermicelli. I really loved my dish because it was packed with veggies. The shrimp had a lovely flavor and char on them. The sauce that came with the vermicelli was perfect too. If you like spicy, try the house made chili paste. But go light at first! From the very first second, he was kind, professional, and genuinely eager to make it right. Not only did he offer to remake the dish, he personally delivered the corrected order to our home and surprised us with complimentary mochi ice cream. That level of care is rare. And let's talk about the food. Their pho is hands-down some of the best I've ever had. I ordered the bun thit nuong with egg rolls, pork, and fried tofu. The food here tastes home made... like everything was made with love! Pork was marinated to perfection (the perfect hint of lemongrass), and egg rolls were all made to order and it came out piping hot. I came into Pho Wok with my partner, and we both left so incredibly satisfied. The food, atmosphere, and service here is just something that left us smiling even after leaving. I got a bowl of pho with brisket and meatballs, and my partner and I shared an order of their fish sauce wings. Y'all. THE WINGS. WERE SO GOOD. The wings were crispy but SO juicy, and the umami of the fish sauce was balanced by the sweet glaze and fried garlic. The bowl of pho was exactly what you would expect, executed perfectly. The broth was light but fragrant and hearty, and the portion was incredibly generous. We got a Green Thai Tea and a Vietnamese Iced Coffee to go, and they were both delicious. I love coffee and when I tried the coffee, I almost cried. Very strong coffee flavor but sweet and VERY smooth!! Not bitter at all - easily the best Vietnamese Iced Coffee I've had in Austin!
