My favorite place to stop by for pho and pad thai! The service is always calm. Very relaxing place

I rarely write updates for favorite restaurants because they are so good, that I end up writing the same things. However, I just had to do an update for Pho Vi Van. Grabbed a quick bite today, before a movie. I ordered the Pulled Pork Banh Mi sandwich with an app of pork egg rolls. Both were delicious. The waitress recommended the sandwich and it did not disappoint. The pork was so tender and moist and the veg toppings crunchy and fresh. I liked the addition of cilantro leaves...gave it such a nice flavor. The pork egg rolls were served hot and steaming. They stayed warm throughout the meal. The egg rolls were served with a side dipping sauce. To get a lovely lunch like this for under $20. anymore is rare. I'll be back for my favorite pho, but it was nice to try something different today. This is a sweet little restaurant and the staff appreciates their customers. read more

I went here for lunch today and loved it! Our server was helpful and attentive and we loved sitting next to the koi pond and watching the beautiful fish swim lazily by. I ordered the Lean Brisket and Steak Pho. So good! The broth was flavorful and fill the condiments offered were perfect. My companion ordered the Pad Thai and she said it was excellent. First time here and we loved it. Service was fast and delightful. Ambiance is relaxed with lots of Vietnamese and other mixed decor. We ordered the Chicken Pho with Egg Noodles, Tofu Spring Rolls and a Dish of Stir Fried Vegetaables and egg noodles. Everything was made to perfection. Pho broth was delicious and not heavy. Very large pho so if you don't eat a lot you can actually share one. Loved the springrolls since they were very well filled with veggies and tofu. I also had the beef Pho which I forgot to snap a photo of. Very good! You can have a noodle, fish sauce, veggie bowl as well but it's not on the menu. You'll have to ask. I'm here with my family quite often. My nephew always gets C3- round steak pho. It's great- the broth is so flavorful. I like to try a variety of things so I've also had the pad Thai, stir fry vegetables, spring rolls, and some other tastes of assorted dishes the rest of my family orders. The jasmine tea is one of my favorites. The Thai tea is refreshing on a hot day. Service is great here. Everything comes out really quickly. The servers will come by with menus as soon as you sit down and they watch to see when you're ready to give your order. Very attentive without being overbearing. Once you're done, you can get your own to go containers at the service desk where you also pay. The self service aspects are really nice so you're never waiting on staff for anything. It's a little small with comfortable booths, which are good for 4, but not great for large groups. There may be other pho places around, but I don't care because I only want to come back to Pho Vi Ván! read more

Generally i find food here very good, especially my fav grill pork dishes. However, recently ordered the special soup and salad rolls, not so good. The chicken seemed like just sliced chicken sandwich meat from the deli counter, not fresh chicken. And chicken sandwich meat was not supposed to be in the pork and shrimp salad rolls, i could not finish I will be going back for the grilled pork and rice noodles ) read more

Our new favorite Pho place. Really friendly people. Don't expect a lot of follow up so ask for all your stuff when your food shows up or you won't see them again till you pay at the register. They are responsive, just not really a service table side. Doesn't matter because the food is out of this world good. I'm so glad we tried this place but now it gets really busy at lunch. Come when they first open at 11 and it goes really fast. Come at 1230 and you are waiting for food. They make adjustment like taking the pork out of the salad rolls, which are killer! Eat here. We've been eating here for years and consider one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Vancouver. Always have great service, available tables, and fantastic food. The pho, banh mi, and vermicelli dishes are always fresh and tasty. The satay noodles are my wife's favorite, and I'm a traditional pho guy, although bun bo hue is right up there. Parking is not a problem, and the entrance is easy for those in wheelchairs. We haven't seen or experienced some of the issues others have mentioned in the comments. I love coming by here - it's my now go-to for Bun Bo Hue since Pho 777 got a bit too oily for me. It's in my hood and the service is wonderful! I had an issue at work and had to get on wifi and they're so helpful and I didn't feel rushed at all. I have had their food twice. Once was in the place and the other to go. I will say to go was disappointing but I think Pho is just so much better piping hot. During our time there the restaurant was clean and the service was great. Everyone was very kind. I loved their menu as the places I normally go don't have chicken pho but that is what my fiance likes best. Their prices were overall on par for what I have been seeing at Pho restaurants these day. I always take all of my friends here, but I gave it four stars because the last time I was here the server brought us menus, but then it took about 15 minutes to bring us our water and take our orders. read more

9/2021: As time has gone on the service and food has started to struggle. While the food is still decent, it doesn't have the fresh touch it once had. The service is absolutely gone and completely missing now. You're going to get seated and wait a long time before you even get talked to again. I don't know what it is about Pho Restaurants in Vancouver but service at just about every single one has become hot garbage every time I have visited. Am I cursed?? We have been coming to this place for awhile now. Yesterday we stopped in for just a bit of food - light lunch if you will. We've had several of their items and all are truly delicious! We stopped in and got the lemongrass pork banh mi and the stir fry beef banh mi. Both are delicious with the perfect seasoning and sauce ratio. I ordered two satay noodle soups for pick up for my mom, and once she arrived to pay, they charged her around nearly $8 in tips when they didn't even ask for us to tip. I got takeout about 20 minutes before closing and they were very kind. Did not make me feel bad about being last minute. I ordered the vermicelli with pork and spring roll. We have only tried the bbq pork bahn mis here and they are outstanding! So easy to order by phone and come pickup. The sandos are loaded with meat, pate, pickled veggies, cilantro, and jalapeño (on the side). Just fabulous! Need to come to dine in and try their pho. Highly recommend for bahn mi! read more

Pho Vi Van is a great place, and was my first time at a Vietnamese restaurant. Fast service, albeit a tad inattentive, great quality food, and a wide selection. I and my daughter jumped at the opportunity to dine in, and we had a great time. All of the ingredients were very fresh, perfectly seasoned, expertly cooked, and tasty! I was particularly impressed with the wontons being hand-made. I was also very impressed that they served two individual dishes of dipping sauce with the wontons, presumably to maximize safety in these COVID-19 times. Was out looking for a quick bite and found Pho Vi Van ... I called in my order so I didn't have to wait around. The food is priced right - $8.50 for the bahn mi. I wasn't a huge fan as I was looking for roasted pork but mistakenly ordered BBQ pork. The avocado shake hit the spot and I've been back just for another one. It's a $5 drink but it's creamy and smooth and not overly sweet. I had been trying to find a good avocado shake for a while and I'll be back for more. read more
