would absolutely go again so delicious tasty delicious yum delicious would eat here superb service

We ended up trying this place because Pho Hang was closed, and unfortunately, it wasn't an experience we'd want to repeat. The restaurant is very outdated and could definitely use some serious cleaning and renovations. The bathroom in particular was pretty disgusting and made us question the overall cleanliness of the establishment. The atmosphere itself was otherwise okay, but the condition of the restaurant really took away from the experience. The pho was decent in terms of flavor, but afterward, our stomachs didn't feel great, which was disappointing. They also charged an additional $1 for a takeout container, which I found a little excessive. Overall, the food was okay, but the cleanliness and condition of the restaurant were major turnoffs. There are definitely better pho options around, so I wouldn't go out of my way to return. read more

To start off with, the experience was not very pleasant. When we walked into the restaurant, we were seated at a table, but not given menus. I had to physically stand up and go look for menus. They took food order and served us everything we had ordered and then we asked for to go boxes. In this whole process it was never mentioned that a party of five is charged a 18% gratitude or that a simple to go box would be an extra charge. Seems like they like to charge you in very malicious ways very unpleasant experience. I'm ok with paying a fee. I'm not ok with that fee being added on without first informing me. If you don't want your food experience ruined by extra surprise charges, I would not suggest going to this restaurant. I wouldn't say the service deserved any sort of tip as the server only came up to us once during the time that we were eating, none of our cups of water were refilled. I truly believe that things like this can ruin the entire atmosphere of a place and mask any pleasant experiences. It's a shame that this isn't something that they address. It took about five minutes to get me checked out. I didn't hear any pleasant goodbyes or nice to have you. would not recommend! read more

Online it says it's open and I come at 4:30 on a weekday and it's closed not to mention last time i ate here i found a black hair in my bahn mi this place is not clean.. EDIT it literally says it on google and apple that you're open on wednesdays. Your response is unprofessional and I will make sure to tell people to avoid this place if this is how you address your customers by calling them a liar. read more

Absolutely terrible experience. We went to this restaurant and were barely acknowledged. No one brought us menus, no one checked on us, and the service was incredibly careless and unprofessional. To make things even worse, the charged us for a to-go box -- I have honestly never experienced that before. And on top of that, they automatically charged an 18% tip. For what exactly? We received practically no service at all. Tips are supposed to be earned through good service, and this was the complete opposite. Very disappointing and definitely not a place I would recommend. The way we were treated was unacceptable. There were only 4 adults at our table. We had 3 children with us: one child was eating, one child was sleeping, and one was a baby who does not even eat regular food. So there were definitely not 7 people who were eating or being served. That's why we were surprised to see the automatic gratuity. Especially considering that we barely received any service due to the technical issues you mentioned. We understand that technical difficulties can happen, but it doesn't seem fair to charge an automatic gratuity based simply on the total number of people present, including sleeping babies. read more

We were a group of 4 adults and 1 child, and nobody informed us that an automatic 18% gratuity would be added to our bill. Our total was $72, and they charged us about $17 in tips, on top of the tax. This was never clearly explained to us beforehand. I have no problem tipping when I choose to, but I do not appreciate being charged an 18% gratuity without being properly informed. Customers should be allowed to decide how much they want to tip based on the service they receive. The service was not good either. Our server did not even bring us menus. My husband had to get up and find the menus himself. For an 18% automatic tip, I expected much better service and, at the very least, to be informed about the charge. Very unhappy with this experience. read more

Go to Pho Star for their food, and service. It's always consistent. If you are looking for ambiance, you will be disappointed. Other than that their wonton noodle soup is what I come here for. They don't skimp on their portions. Their avocado smoothie is just perfect. Not overly sweet, but thick. Support a small business if you are ever craving Vietnamese food in Vancouver. Someone here said the ambiance is not that nice so i was prepped to walk in a hole in the wall place. I mean, sure I outside seems like it could be, it's actually decent inside. Smells nice. New or renovated. I really expected to walk in like it was gonna be Pho 2000 in the SF Tenderloin (btw, had bomb beef pho)--you in there all sweaty, we can't even talk about ambiance. Just order, pay cash, shut up, eat, leave! This place has friendly service is and is quick to take your order--the food itself is also pretty not bad, time wise. The pho is decent and the spicy noodles is bomb. I had a cold when I walked in here and boy did the soup clean all those pipes out. read more

As someone who frequently enjoys Vietnamese restaurants and carts, it's without exaggeration that this is one of the better in Portland-Vancouver metro. The ample portion chicken salad was perfect for those seeking a low cholesterol, low sugar option. The huge eye-appealing Crispy Crepe Roll was super delish. And the bowl with grilled chicken and Cha Gio was ample and yummy. Fresh coconut juice: get it. Service is friendly, but dishes didn't come out together. Prices are fair, parking is easy. read more

Ordered a couple things to go, was super impressed. I got the best bowl of steak pho I've ever had, a terrific banh mi, and a whole other entree for my fiancé for $45. The order came out really fast, which was great I didn't spend long inside but it's a super cute restaurant and I'd love to go back. read more

Chicken pho for the win! One of the most consistent places around AND one of the very few pho places I'll get takeout from. I love how easy it is to add additional ingredients and their specials are amazing. Pho Star is minutes from my home. I would often buy to-go and pick up to eat in the comfort of my own home. Their Bun Thit Nuong with shrimps has always been my favorites. I typically would order this dish on the weekend and enjoy it at home. Another one of my favorite dish is their banh mi. If my lunch hours are restricted, their banh mi would come to the reduce. The taste alone is divine and the portions are large. It's so nice to have such a tasty Vietnamese restaurant just minutes from my home. There are many other great dishes to choose from as well, but my-go-to is their Bun Thit Nuong for sure. My friend couldn't decide what to eat so we decided to stop here and dine on a Sunday evening. We were quickly seated and offered a menu. My friend decided to order the same item as I did. Let's just say that he finished his plate. We will definitely come back for sure. read more

Stopped at Pho Star in Vietnam for dinner on our way back from Portland to skip the rush hour traffic. First impression, the building looked old but when you walked in, the place is clean. Service was fine, it was only our table and had a couple of Togo orders so he was attentive and checked on us. Food came out fast, Our group ordered the fresh rolls with the shrimp and bbq pork to share. Fresh rolls were good per usual. No complaints on that. We also ordered the mi quang, chicken stir fry noodle, vermicelli noodle with grilled lemongrass pork and shrimp, the grilled chop pork, grilled lemongrass pork and the shrimp rice dish. The rice plate was decent. The rice was too hard, seemed like it wasn't cooked all the way. The mi quang was good - would recommend! Gave a good amount of protein and noodles. The vermicelli bowl was good. Wished the grilled pork was hotter, it was just warm. Overall, def a good spot to go eat. read more

Dropped by for a late dinner. Food was good, quick to come out. I thought the turmeric noodle will taste more like turmeric. It tasted more like yellow noodle to me. The Vietnamese coffee was strong. Not a fancy venue but it is good for a quick satisfying meal on the go. The service was friendly. Good place to drop by on the way back to Seattle from Oregon before getting on the i5. read more

Amazing food, amazing service, fast, and they are amazing people. Best crab pubs around!

Stopped in today for a bowl of beef Pho. Their broth is the best in the area and loaded with flavorful sliced round steak. Service is friendly and attentive. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of the experience. Highly recommend Pho Star read more

Still incredibly good... I got a grilled lemongrass chicken rice plate this time and it did not disappoint. Chicken was juicy and flavorful and everything I could've hoped for ! Came to conclusion that this joint has the best salad rolls I've had. Rice paper is always fresh, and you can tell that they make their salad rolls once you order them, not pre-made. The chicken pho is savory, the chicken is juicy, and all the veggies are definitely fresh. read more

I'll order here due to convenience because they are so close to my house. It is a clean restaurant and the owners are nice.

Not our first trip, and for good reason. The food is excellent. On this trip, we had turmeric noodles and bun bo hue. The turmeric noodle dishes was cooked perfectly and they were more than generous with the chicken. The bun bo hue had a generous amount of beef and the spice level was just right. Salad rolls were wrapped tightly and tasted super good. Very fresh! The young man who served us was kind and made sure to ask about the quality of the food and if we needed anything else. Atmosphere is rather nice, as the high ceiling and decore really makes it feel warm and homey. Will continue to support this Vancouver gem. read more

Pho Star is a very good pho restaurant in Vancouver. One huge negative was that they picnic ware. Red solo cups, plastic forks, and disposable chopsticks. Very odd eating pho with standard sized chopsticks. The water here also tastes really off. I ordered a Diet Coke because I couldn't stand the taste of the water. The service was mediocre. They worked very fast but everyone seemed like they were miserable working there. I We had the salad rolls, pork egg rolls, crab pubs, and well as pho. The appetizers were all very good and they gave healthy portions of sauce. The pho was really good too. The meat was good quality and the broth was good; could have been more rich in flavor though. I prefer things a little on the bland side so it worked for my but my friends made a comment about it. read more

There's only 2 pho places in Vancouver that I like and Pho Star is 1 of them. The staff is nice. The restaurant is clean. And the food is good. The pho, the bun bo hue and the mi quang are all good. I also like the chicken salad. We recently stopped in again at 7:30pm, thinking they closed at 9pm, but they were getting ready to close at 8pm. I told the waitress I would just order to go and she invited me to stay and eat. I always feel bad going into a restaurant when it's close to closing time but she was so nice and welcoming and told me pho is better to eat fresh and not to take it to-go. read more

I didn't have any expectations for this place, it was just conveniently located near the hospital. What a gem this place is. The first day I had the special beef stew and the Bo la lot, which is minced beef wrapped in lalot leaves. Both were amazingly flavorful and authentic tasting. The Bo lalot was like nothing else I've ever tried. I also got a chicken banh mi for someone and they loved it. The next day I went back and got the 5- spice duck soup and a Vietnamese cold cut banh mi. Both were excellent. If you want authentic foods (not Americanized) and flavors, I highly recommend this place! read more

Haven been born down the street from this restaurant. I have never gotten to try it. My parents do not try new things. So now at 31 years I checked this place out. As it is in between work and home. We stopped in and got: Pho Dac Biet - the broth had amazing favor. I am glad so checked it out as I love getting this every once in a while and the only other place I like with Pho is all the way on 162nd. He got the Pho Tai Nam Gau and he enjoyed it. I almost never see him finish his bowl but he did. We also got a plate to share Com Dac Biet - oh my gosh was this amazing. The building has always been misleading but that just makes it a best kept secret for the food. The inside was super clean. I would definitely feel comfortable eating there next time. The service was great also as the guy working the front was so understanding and friendly. He very much didn't make me feel uncomfortable as other places have made me feel before. I've come to this restaurant to pick up banh mis and pho about a dozen times. It's all be pretty good, if not a bit overpriced. At this point, I don't think I'll continue going in the future. Today, I ordered 2 banh mis and asked for no mayonnaise (as I always have). In the past, the sandwiches would come out just as I ordered. When I arrived to pick up the order, the woman that greeted me told me that they accidentally made the sandwich with mayonnaise, so they were remaking it. No worries! A bit later, my food was ready and I brought it home. Once I opened up the sandwiches, to my surprise I found a glob of something that looked a lot like mayonnaise. I called the restaurant and was told that the glob was some other dairy-based cream. I'm lactose intolerant and because I didn't see any other ingredient listed on their menu that raised any red flags and the fact that I've had their banh mis many times before, I figured I didn't have to ask for any other modifications to the sandwiches. I politely asked for a refund and what I was told was that I'd be required to go back to the restaurant and return the food in order to receive a refund. Like..as if it was a TV or a sweater. I offered to send them photos, but for whatever reason (maybe they might suspect that I'm staging the photos..?), that's not good enough for them. So at the end of the day, I have sandwiches that I can't enjoy because they replaced an ingredient I can't have with another ingredient I can't have (and that I didn't know was going to appear in my sandwich). Another thing worth noting is that the woman I spoke with was saying that she doesn't like making sandwiches that have modifications like mine. I'm not sure what the process is for making banh mi sandwiches, but if it's anything like a sandwich, leaving out mayonnaise or any major ingredient shouldn't be that big of a deal. Perhaps I'm missing something..(aside from my money)? To their credit, the pho was decent. read more

Excellent pho/soup spot! They also have a variety of appetizers & other noodle & rice dishes. We stopped in for lunch on a Monday and they weren't busy. We shared an order of crispy rolls, which were tasty & full of protein & veggies (some places skimp on the protein in this type of roll, but not here!). I had the turmeric noodle soup & the Hubs had the wonton soup, and both were so delicious and full of the ingredients, we left stuffed (and again they did not skimp on the proteins). I only wish they offered a small & large option for their pho/soup because the portions are beyond generous and the two of us could have easily shared just one bowl and still left full (this is a general observation since many pho spots don't offer size/portion options). The inside was very clean, and simply decorated with real houseplants in each of the windowsills adding a nice touch. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is due to the service. Our server was very nice, and the food came out quick, but he only checked in with us once shortly after the food came and then he never came back. I was debating on taking leftovers home but since he never came back we didn't. We were done eating and waited 10 minutes, but still nothing. We know he could see us from his perch at the register, and eventually the Hubs motioned to him to get his attention and asked if we could have the check. That's when he said we can just come up to the register when we're ready to pay, so it would have been nice if he had mentioned that earlier. All in all we will definitely be back for dine-in or carry out, and there are a number of other dishes on the menu we want to try. read more
