This is a pho place in South Plainfield near Ocean State Job Lot, Home Goods, Target, and the Regal Hadley theater. It's a bit unusual in that they serve alcohol there and there is a bar area. They carry Tiger beer from Singapore. I had the pho with short ribs and was surprised to get a gigantic bone with a hunk of meat on it, as well as a bowl with some great tendons. As an Asian person I appreciate some tendons, so I ate a good serving of that. I debated whether to take the rest home since I don't like to waste containers. I ended up taking some to go. We also had a papaya salad which was fresh and delicious. I'd like to try some of the other menu items, as I've been there twice now and had pho both times and flan for dessert. read more

Space was nice and big enough to accommodate the 140+ guests who attended... yeah that's kinda alot considering it is still COVID. Food was good considering it wasn't kept hot. I have been here a couple times this year since it is relatively close to Rutgers. The service is really nice, although sometimes when you sit in the back, it is hard to grab the staffs' attention. The restaurant is very clean since it has only been around for a year. I usually come here for their rice platters, but I got pho the other day. I ordered a Large P.16 Well Done Brisket Pho. It was around $10 and I thought it was really worth the price. They put a lot of meat into my pho which made it really filling. I'm usually not a big fan of pho, but I really enjoyed my pho at this restaurant-- adding a bit Hoisin sauce and Sriracha definitely helped with the flavoring for the broth. Overall, I really enjoyed the pho that I got here. The rice platters has always been my favorite too, but I do find it a bit pricey getting it all the time. I've had Pho Today before and they are always my go-to place when I'm craving for Vietnamese food and pho. It's my first time ordering from them on DoorDash and this is my experience: The food came within 40 minutes which is good considering it's dinner time. I ordered Com Bo Luc Lac (Shaking Beef with White Rice), Cafe Sua Da (Vietnamese Ice Coffee), and Ga Rang Me (Tamarind Chicken Wings). The total was $32.85 (from DoorDash), which is kinda pricey but COVID has been a reason why many restaurants increased their menu prices. The Com Bo Luc Lac did not reach my expectations and the portion of meat was sad. The ratio between white rice to beef was practically the same; if not, maybe more rice. There was about 10-12 pieces of beef and very little peppers and onions and the flavor was lacking. Maybe add some caramelized garlic and other sauces and reduce the salt (or soy sauce?). I felt that it was too salty and had to eat white rice to balance it out. Com Bo Luc Lac rating: 5/10 The Ga Rang Me on the other hand, was very yummy! I recommend trying it however, for 5 wings it was close to $10. I wished that the flavor was more concentrated as it was very settle. Ga Rang Me rating: 8/10 The Cafe Sua Da is a must-get! Came with my family for Christmas lunch and had a fairly disappointing experience. It was clear that the kitchen and wait staff was understaffed. I ordered a drink (pictured below) which was sweet beyond measure. It was ~$8 and after one sip, I really couldn't drink any more. I tried to ask if there was anything that could be done but the restaurant was unwilling to swap or accommodate me (which was cool, but I was certainly disappointed with the inflexibility and lack of any effort to help on Christmas Day). My poor parents didn't want to waste the drink so did their best to over dilute with water but honestly - still couldn't finish it at the end. 0 stars on service here. The food then came out in very weird sequences due to the kitchen being understaffed. The pho came out about 30 Minutes after the rice dishes so we had half the party finished with food by the time the noodles arrived. Everything just seemed disorganized. I come to this restaurant quite a bit and normally have a pleasant experience but it's unfortunate that the Christmas experience was a disappointment. The fact that this experience triggered me to spend time to write a review on Christmas day really just confirms my disappointment. Hope they can do better for other families. read more

She was so nice! She apologized for the delay (but it wasn't that long tho!) and chatted the current situation at the restaurant (lack of staffing). This is one of my favorite Pho places in NJ. Aesthetics- inside is a nice restaurant that is surprisingly huge. I've came here multiple times with large groups of people and they always accommodate. There's even a bar inside if you want drinks. Food: I always get P5 which has flank and brisket. The broth is my favorite and it warms you up. You don't need to add anything to it, which I usually add siracha to my soup in other Viet Restaurants. The noodles are delicious and there's a good a pho to meat ratio. B1 was a vermicelli with everything in it. It was delicious with the fish sauce and there was so many flavors involved. I personally would've gotten the B3 that took out the shrimp and Beef because I felt that the Shrimp was just okay and adding those two cost a few extra dollars. Naturally, I love Vietnamese food so I'm always excited when I see new eats. With that said, I've bookmarked Pho Today for quite sometime and finally my family and I had a chance to dine here with another family. First, there's plenty of parking and the restaurant seating and number of tables can definitely accommodate large crowds. I also noticed that there's party rooms for special bookings. Our party of 8 arrived on a Sunday around 1:30pm, we were told to wait for a few minutes for a table. They do have lounge sofas at the entrance for wait and menus to look at during your wait. Thank goodness we didn't wait too long and we're brought to our booth table. The decor looked pretty hip and modern/sleek. The ambiance seems pretty cool. They do have bar so they do serve alcohol. Now this is where things went downhill. After seated, we were given the menus and the employee left the scene and literally poof...gone like magic! We didn't know who is our waiter, confused with other staff working nearby tables and booths but didn't care to stop by or looked our way to see if we are ready to place our orders. After what seemed like more than 10 minutes, I looked at an employee and tried to hail him down but he quickly walked away to chat with another staff and probably told the staff to come and wait on our table. Finally, we gave our orders to him and no, he didn't apologize or said anything about why no one came to serve us. Tsk tsk. I noticed our table had one small pitcher of iced water and 8 plastic cups. The pitcher had enough water to fill 4 or maybe 5 cups of water. Yes, it's self served also so I also had to request for an additional pitcher of water. Common sense with a large party of 8, you should give two pitchers if you're going to give us 8 cups!!! They are not attentive at all. The customer service is horrible. After the food is delivered, no one came to check up on us to see if anything else is needed. They even forgot a side dish that was ordered. No one came by to provide us the bill either. We literally could have walked out the restaurant and no one probably even noticed. We had to hail down some other waiter to give us the bill and sadly by this time it's 2:30 and the restaurant wasn't even busy so imagine if it was busy. The only saving grace is my vegan pho tastes decent which is why I'm giving a total of two stars. However, I know of few other spots that I can also get a decent vegan pho so not sure if I'd come back here or recommend this spot. I think Pho Today is one of the few restaurants where you get what you pay for. I'm always satisified and full after eating here. Food comes out fairly quickly. Today, I ordered an ex-large P2 (pho with rare steak, well done flank, brisket, tendon, and tripe). When I got my order, I was a little surprised to see meatballs in the bowl, but I didn't mind it. There was a good meat-to-noodle ratio. However, the service could be a little better. It's usually busy during lunch hours, and we had to wave someone down. One of the tea cups and a sauce dishes weren't cleaned well and still had some hard residue on the side, but the waiter was quick in getting us another cup. Overall, the restaurant is both clean and huge. Even though there seems to be a lot of cars in the parking lot, there are enough parking spaces and plenty of tables inside.
