    Updated Drink Menu 2024

Updated my review with recent photos of their updated menu as of August 2024. This is still my favorite spot to get pho & I frequent here often.

Whenever I have a craving for pho, I know where to go!!!I definitely recommend this place. The egg rolls are absolutely delicious and I highly suggest trying them. Three came with the order, I couldn't resist devouring one before capturing a picture lol. I decided to get the shrimp pho and added some spice to my liking. My husband opted for the beef pho and also spicy to his liking. The passion fruit green tea is ridiculously flavorful and refreshing. This establishment is cozy, friendly, and most importantly clean.

Check out this quite unexpectedly good Vietnamese casual food. It doesn't look like anything special but that's only before you eat something here. Pho Son is one of the rare good restaurants in Oswego. Certainly they have pho of course. They also have banh mi sandwiches. Getting one of the teas is important as well as food. It has a bunch of fruit teas to choose from and they all sound good. They also have the option of putting in boba or tapioca. It seemed like a pretty good idea. We each got a tea, and I got the Mango Green Tea. It's $5.25 for a regular. This is sweet but not too sweet. It's filled with boba. These don't have much flavor but they have a cool texture. It sadly doesn't have any pho which is vegan friendly. We each got the Banh Mi Tofu. It's $6.50 for a pretty good sized sandwich. This has cilantro, cucumbers, jalapeños, mayonnaise, and pickled vegetables. Get it vegan by leaving off mayonnaise, and putting on sriracha is a good alternative. The bun is toasty so the sandwich has so much crunchy about it but also has a kick. Has much better than expected food for around here. It's the best Asian food in town most likely. The prices are okay for the portions you get for the teas and sandwiches.

I came here for lunch and I thought it was just okay. Pho is great for me anytime of day. The place is small with limited seating. Pho was not too big and priced high at $15 starting and lacking. Nothing really stood out but the staff was nice.

We've brought traveling friends and family here, and it never misses. The portion sizes are fantastic--we highly recommend the Shrimp Spring Rolls and the Viet Taste Starter Platter, which is an amazing deal. For our main courses, we usually go with the V032 Pho Dac Biet (the broth is so comforting!) and the V070 Double 'B' Banh Mi. Occasionally, I'll opt for the V062 Marinated Pork Chop with Honey Sausage and Fried Eggs, which is always delicious. Located in Pacifica Square near the Fox Valley Mall, it's such a fun, cozy atmosphere. They usually play acoustic guitar covers of pop songs in the background, which adds a really nice touch to the experience. If you're looking for high-quality, consistent Vietnamese food, this is the place!

I got the V045 which is pho with Well Done Beef Brisket, Eye Round Steak Slices, Tripe, which I usually get when I go to a Pho Noodle Station location. The pho came out and the first few bites satisfied the pho craving. But the cuts of meat weren't the best and the broth didn't taste fresh. It was hard to finish the bowl, although the portion size was generous. It probably didn't help that we were seated next to the kitchen, and the doors would swing open every few minutes and smells of dish soap would waft through. I usually love Pho Noodle Station, especially the location in Champaign, but this was a disappointing experience. Not sure if the stores are related, but I wish the quality was as good as that location.

I ordered online for carry out and the platform was easy to navigate. Once my husband and I arrived at the resto we were greeted by a very kind staff member. Our food wasn't ready but within 5 mins of us being there it was good to go. We tried the wonton soup and chicken dumplings app. Both were on the bland side. Normally I'm used to wonton soup also having noodles and theirs does not. Flavors were OK, felt like both dishes were missing spices. Everything was cooked perfectly though. Maybe we ordered the wrong items from here and need to try others instead.

In my experience, this signifies either the place was going to be a shithole to pass up, or it was a serious place to eat, then get out and go somewhere with an atmosphere. Happy to say J's (IMHO) is a serious place to eat. No-nonsense, direct and to the point. When I walked in, all those common chairs I mentioned were stacked upside down on the tables in the way that places do when they are closed. The taciturn fellow who worked there assured me they were indeed open, and explained they had just finish washing the floor. Please dont read any of this as negative-the best Chinese places I've ever been have looked like this-and if you've paid attention to the Travel/Food shows on the TeeVee, the joints in China itself are pretty much the same. On to the food, know this place is a Serious REAL-DEAL Chinese resto. I didn't notice if there were "Occidental" Chinese-type dishes on the carte, (primarily 'cos I wasn't looking for them). What I saw looked yum, and had a hard time making choices, even though I had read the menu multiple times and thought I know what I was going to order in advance. Confessionately, this is a chief feature for my tortured dining self-It's a wonder I even get fed in restaurants (especially the great ethnic ones), due to option anxiety. I zeroed in on "Street Noodles" for starters-wouldn't you? Then went to "Cold Beef Shank" for entreé. The Noodles were fab as was the Shank. The noodles were in a broth. with some hunks of bok choy and ground meat on top. Hearty, still light. The shank had a thin sauce complimenting but not obscuring the beefiness. One bugaboo: the Shank needed a bit of seasoning, and I wasn't going to use soy sauce, as I believed that would have marred the subtle flavors of the Beef. I asked for a salt shaker. It arrived, and I was a little taken back, 'cos it appeared it hadn't been washed in a while, and the salt inside was caked. It occurred to me this condition was present due to the non-use of said shaker. I don't think I've ever asked for a salt shaker in a Chinese resto. I pulled a toothpick out of my "Murse" and broke up the caked NaCl. Applying same to the pieces of Shank, the flavor bloomed and I was a happy boy. Bring some salt packets along when you visit "J's", maybe. The fellow who was waiter and cashier was a "western" fellow, whom I engaged and turned out to be quite an experienced foodie. some pleasant conversation indeed. The weird part was asking if i had a punch card and when i said no they didn't offer me one either? Either way, i got the taro strawberry smoothie and a hazelnut iced coffee. Neither of us enjoyed the drinks because they're very syrup heavy resulting in a drink that's wayyyyy too sweet. It just tastes like drinking concentrated syrup and powder blended/mixed with milk. Barely tasted any taro. Having some real ingredients like frozen strawberries with taro powder is what I'd expect at this price point. Not both ingredients being powdered and syrups. The tapioca itself was really good, soft and not too chewy. But there's just way too much of it, you're eating boba more than enjoying a drink. The brown sugar syrup that the boba sits in doesn't help with the additional sweetness in the drink. Wouldn't recommend for real drinks

One of Aurora's (Chicago Suburbs) Best Boba Tea Spots!…read more After traveling around the world and tasting boba from Taiwan to Singapore, I can confidently say that Vannie House in Aurora delivers some of the best tapioca pearls I've had in the U.S. The pearls are perfectly chewy, fresh, and absolutely on par with the quality I've experienced in top-tier Asian tea shops. One thing I really appreciate is the tapioca-to-drink ratio. Most boba shops either overload you with pearls or drown everything in too much liquid. Vannie House nails the balance, every sip and scoop feels intentional and well crafted. I tried several drinks on my visit: M9 (modified with Thai Tea) -- Smooth, flavorful, and extremely well blended. A3 Orange Peach with Black Tea -- Sweet, refreshing, and surprisingly layered in flavor. Hot Chai Tea -- Rich, warm, and incredibly smooth. Easily one of the best chai teas I've had at any boba shop. The interior decor is also a standout, clean, modern, cozy, and aesthetically designed. It's the kind of place you actually want to sit and enjoy your drink rather than rush out. Huge shoutout to Niko, whose recommendations were absolutely on point. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, exactly the kind of service that keeps you coming back. If you're in Aurora and looking for high-quality boba tea, Vannie House (my #47 Boba Tea Spot) is a must-try. I'll 100% be returning whenever I'm in the area.
