NEVER AGAIN! Been here many times and I have to say the service is horrible. My wife and I came here today and the food and service was horrible... so bad we didn't eat it. We both ordered Pho and there was so much oil in it that there were huge puddles of oil floating on top. I had shrimp noodle and my wife had vegetarian. I believe this place has a general rule not to offer refills on iced tea. The waiters NEVER offer to refill your glass... you have to ask them. There are many other good Pho places in town here. Food: Ok I'm slowly realizing that the asian food in cypress is subpar and overly hyped. This place is an underwhelming pho place. There is not that much variety in their Vietnamese menu items. Only 3 or 4 rice dishes which we did not try and maybe 6 or 7 pho dishes as well as noodles. This review is for the pho. The broth itself was lacking. I always considered pho being good or bad because of how difficult it is to rate pho as everyone has different preferences on pho but I would say it was bad pho. It was incredibly bland and they did not strain the pork bone when making the pho base, hence our pho broth was cloudy. The beef in the pho was sour and not fatty. Perhaps it's my fault to rely on all these positive reviews and drive a little further to Westminister or Garden Grove for solid pho. Service: great! This is the only pho restaurant I visit since it's so close to my place. Usually I dine in but today I placed an order over the phone with Crystal. She was so friendly while taking my order. I went in and picked up my food. I paid for this and asked if I placed my order with her and Crystal said yes. She was just as friendly in person! I have been living in Little Saigon for 10 years. When we moved to Cypress, we had a hard time find a good pho spot. Every where around us is hipster build your own pho. When I found Pho So 9, I realized it must be good because its titled with a number, the pho names are Pho Tai and Pho Dac Biet..and the workers were Vietnamese. Finally found a good place to eat authentic Bolsa style pho. A major perk is that it came in the to go bowls, so I didn't have to do dishes. read more

This Pho restaurant doesn't look like much walking by but it was chilly outside & I needed Pho. I ordered tofu & veggie chicken pho & my companion ordered shrimp; egg noodle pho. First the bean sprouts with mint; lime & jalapeño came. I love that! Then our pho came; hot & delicious. We came at a good time . then it started getting crowded. This is just based on the food... ordered from Door Dash. Ordered a chicken pho and egg rolls. Chicken pho was really good the broth had a really good taste even by itself , noodles were good and the chicken was nice and soft. Egg rolls were ok, they were a bit burned on the ends. Since I haven't been to the actual restaurant im not sure how the service is but in my order I asked for chili oil on the side and they delivered! I will definitely order from here again. read more

This place is located in a strip mall on Walker and Ball Rd. It was a weekday at noon, and when we arrived at 11:45 we pretty much had the place to ourselves. The decor was comfortable, and had both booth and table seating. I get the impression that it is a family run business. The servers were eager to take our orders, and the food was quick to make its way to the table. My husband had the pho with rare steak, and a big plate of steamed veggies on the side. He wasn't thrilled with the broth though. He found it lacking some of the fragrant spices that most pho places use. I had a chicken Bahn mi, and found it to be very tasty, and a great value for my money. (I think it was like $5.00). I would go back to try some of their other Viet dishes. read more

So much inconsistencies at this restaurant. First time around was great, so we went there for a second time. Service There were only two female servers, one older and younger. I explained what I wanted and what I did not want in my plates. When the food came, they still put the items that I did not want in my dish, so I told them that I requested not to have certain items in my dish. I usually do not send a dish back because you never know what the staff might do for pissing them off even though they should have gotten them right the first time. Even though I said not to take the dish back, the older server decided not to pay attention to me, picked up my dish, and walked to the back. Less than a minute later, she came back out and picked off some of the items that I said I did not want with some still left on my dish. WTF! What if I was allergic to those items?? Food Here comes another inconsistency. Extra meat was $1 last time, now it's $2 for extra meat. Well...which time can this place not able to make up its mind? last time or this time? We ordered a few things, and one of the items being the usual Pho soup. The soup was not hot like usually pho soup is supposed to come out. 10 minutes into eating, my soup base was barely luke warm. Soup base did not taste good like last time. Thai iced tea was still refillable, but it didn't taste as good either (not sweet and darker because they put too much tea in), and on top of that it tasted different for every single refill. I was expecting the service and food to be like last time, but it was a disaster. I don't know if I wanted to give this place one more chance since it was like night and day this time and last time around. I will just look for another pho place when I am in the area since I don't know when I can count on this place. UPDATE: I received a sincere apology from the owner of this place. One thing that I respect is a place owning up to their mistakes without making any excuse and assuring that they will make sure to fix the problems. To me, this shows that customer service is important to them. Since the first time was great, second time was not so good due to staff, and the owner promised that they will be training the staff better, this place deserves a second chance. I frequent this place often and my favorite is the shrimp pho, it's always delicious but I would like to give a great review to one of the new guys name Anthony he knew when to come to our table and ask if we need anything, he didn't forget what we ordered and on the way out he remembered exactly how many containers to bring, he is a great new addition to the team. Pho and Cypress are not synonymous (unlike Westminster or Garden Grove). However, when you've got a hankerin' for some Vietnamese food while in the city of Cypress, Pho So 9 is the place to be. Is it the best Vietnamese food you'll ever taste? No, you'll require a Vietnamese grandmother for that one. Still, this place definitely hits the spot! You've basically got all of your bases covered here: noodle soup, vermicelli noodles, rice dishes, etc. They've also got the basic drink menu you'd find at other pho places. One thing that did surprise me was the fact that they don't have pho dac biet offered plainly on the menu. When I brought this up with our server, he informed me that I'd have to order the basic beef pho and then request the extra items (meatballs, tendon, tripe) separately to turn it into dac biet. WTF? Why not just offer it on your menu then?! Duh... This place does get pretty busy during the lunch rush, so service can get spotty (especially with the limited number of servers here). Case in point, they forgot our side dish of sprouts, lime, chili, and basil to accompany our pho. Once informed, they quickly remedied the situation though. Despite the weird dac biet issue, I'm sure I'll be back for more pho. It's the only pho place I know of in the CYP so it saves me a long drive into Little Saigon during a limited lunch break. 11-17-13 A total good surprise tonight when I was so hungry and had to have a bowl of Vietnamese Pho , Pho So 9 surprised me tonight with a tasty bowl of soup. I finished the entire bowl. Unlike a few years ago when I was here for a bowl of pho and It tasted like water then. I vowed never to come back here, but today I was very very hungry and really wanted some Vietnamese soup to help relieve my cold. I don't really understand the low reviews for this place, it's really the only decent local place where I can get pho or bun. Been here before with my mom and daughter. They always liked what they ordered. It's been a few years. I've been back by myself and was satisfied. I was skeptical bringing the BF here since he has frequent many viet places in little Saigon. His palate is little elevated than mine. I do like the pho. I usually order the plain, no meat. Just soup and noodle, a little veggie. Yeah, I'm a little picky. There are other Vietnamese restaurants in Cypress but this place is cleaner and staff is friendly. They've rearranged a few things, tv and beer case. There's also a Groupon deal floating out there. The beef combination bowl doesn't have all the meat selections that most Pho place normally has. And sauce is not complete for every desk so we have go to other table for sauce. I came here during my lunch break since it was so close to work. First day (the 5th) : this place was busy when I got there. I was able to get a seat right away. I told the guy I knew what I want and I'm ready to order, he said he be right back, which is 15 min later. When I got the food, they didn't give me spoon and chopstick; there was nothing on the table. It was annoying, but at least the food was good. Second day (6th): it wasn't as busy as it was yesterday. Everything was good till I was at the cashier to pay. I ask for a small togo box for my spring roll, when I got back to my table, everything was clear off and another customer was there already. Mind you I sat at booth 11 which is next to the cashier. And my purse and umbrella was still at the booth. I always order Pho combination noodle soup whenever I go to a Pho restaurant as I like to have little bit of everything, especially beef tripe. When the waitress told me they don't have beef tripe in their menu, it was a huge disappointment for me. However, I didn't find myself thirsty after having their Pho. To me it is a good thing as normally Pho noodle soup from other restaurants made me thirsty for the rest of day. I guess Pho So 9 didn't add MSG or didn't add as much as others in their food.
