The pho soup is extremely overrated I ordered the beef pho there was hardly any beef in it and the beef was supper thin it had the consistency and flavor of sandwich beef from the store and the noodles tasted bland like the one you can get from Costco

Madai P.

Tried pho Saigon at Tikahtnu finally!! Had the Thai Tom Ka (apologies for spelling) it's the coconut based soup. I had it with chicken and it has mushrooms and veggies. TBH I've had way better don't come for me. Still the place was cozy, service was pleasant, the sauce bar on the table and the rice a nice touch. Now let's talk about the avocado shake!!! Ladies and gentlemen it was a WIN for me, so creamy and delicious a little sweet but not too sweet. Omgosh I can't wait to order that again!! I'd like to try a Thai curry dish next time and see how that goes.

Was running errands and saw that the commons had a Pho place. I love a good bowl of Pho and haven't been able to enjoy it in a restaurant since last year. Popped in and grabbed a table and ordered the rare beef pho with a coke. My meal was in front of me within 5 minutes. Pho was hot and came with all the sides. The broth was very flavorful and there was lots of noodles and thin sliced beef. As I looked around I noticed that everyone's meals looked awesome. I'll have to order something new next time. I will definitely come here again.

This supposed to be Tom yum soup...It smelled yuck and looks like a leftover soup I didn't not eat it at all.

Heejeong F.

I don't think I will order food from here again Their portion was way smaller and disappointing.

Desiree M.

The prices here are much better than other Pho in Anchorage. I would say this place is not the best pho by any means but isn't the worst. I believe the pho is lacking flavor in their broth, it is more watery with color than with taste. I tried the veggie pho and did like the veggies in the pho. The service was really good. I did however try to get the military discount and even tried to pull what Kent H. did with his driver's license and i mentioned that I was a veteran, but you have to be active duty and not a dependent to receive their discount. I would not come here again, just because their are so many other pho places to try and ones I would def choose over this mediocre cooking. I guess if your looking for pho close to base this is for you.

Jailene M.

I love PHO SAIGON! if you want authentic Vietnamese pho this is the place to go! I've been coming here religiously for three years and do not get tired of it. Their peanut sauce is not thick and is full of flavor! Their spring rolls we order them without veggies so it's nice that we were able to customize that. In terms of staff being non personal that's how my husband culture is. So I didn't take offense but husband is Vietnamese and more or less they keep to themselves. When I asked a question they answered quickly. The pho is deleted and fresh always ask for fresh veggies makes your bowl super flavorful.

I've never been served curdled Tom yum gai from A Thai or Vietnamese restaurant. It was all watery and I'm very disappointed!!

Joni D.

Curdled Tom yum gai! all watery!! Not happy ! I tried to ask the waitress about it and even walked up to the register and I was completely ignored!!

No complaints at all. I'm surprised I hadn't eaten here sooner! I was always skeptical but I am glad I gave it a chance when a friend suggested that we eat here. The place itself is conveniently located near lots of shopping opportunities. There's other great places to around here too. But give this place a try. The place itself is very small but they sure made good use of their space! It's nice because you don't feel like your crammed in there like a sardine....it's just right. But maybe I felt comfortable because I chose a booth. We arrived sometime around 3 or 4 pm (just before the dinner time rush). It was perfect timing. It was not too crowded. We were warmly welcomed by a gentleman with a welcoming smile; The kind that made you feel right at home and ready for some Pho! For this early dinner I ordered the Vegetable stir fry with shrimp. It comes with white rice. It tasted delicious. The stir fry sauce was not overpowering and really complimented the shrimp and veggies. I devoured the entire thing. I enjoyed my meal so much that by the time I remembered to post a picture for you I was almost finished...and no one wants to see that. So I owe you one! :-). We also ordered the egg rolls for the table. It comes with 4 pieces. They were crunchy and fresh! The sauce that accompanied it was flavorful but it was watery instead of saucy. It was still enjoyable, but with a group of friends it was hard to get sauce on the eggroll without it dripping and we weren't provided with small plates for sharing. I totally overlooked that though and was not a big deal, although I can see others having a problem with this. Also don't expect the waiter to ask how your food is. I'm not sure if it's a cultural thing but in my experience at other restaurants of this kind you don't really get the waiter coming to check on you every 10 min. Here, they let you be and I can appreciate that...but then again I didn't need anything. The prices were very reasonable. You can't beat $12 for a decent portion of stir fry with shrimp. I was very pleased with this. It was refreshing to see reasonable prices in Anchorage because I usually find myself paying $25 on a meal just for myself. This little place is packed with flavor and very good prices. I'm so glad I gave this place a try. I'm looking forward to trying some other items on the menu. Hopefully you'll have a good experience here too. Oh my goodness and as I read over my review I forgot to mention. Try their natural juices! Holy moly they are just fantastic! I had the carrot juice and it was just fantastic. They also have other fresh squeezed juices like pineapple and pineapple with orange, etc. There. I think I covered all the points ! :-)

Jet A.

Ok at best. The staff was non personal. The food was bland. I got the Panang chicken curry and my husband got the grilled pork banh mi. We eat Vietnamese food almost twice a week and the grilled pork wasn't what we were expecting/used to. There's usually some char on the meat but what we got was "juicy" as it in was drenched in whatever marinade/sauce they used which made the French bread soggy. The chicken curry wasn't as flavorful as other Curry's I've had in the area. Very watered down flavor and for $12 I expected more. Although convenient to JBER. I'll make the drive to a better restaurant next time.

I think it's one of the best pho places in town. Be sure to ask for your military discount. The only thing wrong with the tikatnu location is that is there this Vietnamese dude who seems to always work the register. Let's just say he's not the friendliest dude. I mean, not at all. I mean, he might be the Debbie downer of this awesome restaurant. I mean, u might as well order your stuff for pick up (that way your clothes won't smell like awesomeness). read more

This is a cozy Vietnamese Restaurant conveniently located in one of my favorite shopping complexes in Anchorage. I ordered the Pho Tai Bo Vien, which was aromatic, filling, and very satisfying. Adding anything extra like hoisin sauce or sriracha was not necessary. Fresh herbs and beans sprouts were generously provided on the side! The service was also great and attentive! I look forward to coming back for my next Pho fill :) read more

Staff was non personal. Our waitress didn't have very good people skills, which as a result made our visit less pleasant. I don't quite understand why they have things on the menu but don't serve them. I'm not sure if they simply ran out, as it wasn't specified. The food was mediocre. read more

The fact that I have to give them a star at all is so painful. THEY HAVE THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. I ordered a dish specifically asking that they put no peanuts. The waiter understood but when I took a few bites I started developing hives everywhere. The peanuts were finely chopped into my dish so I didn't even notice until I started eating! I asked to speak with the manager and they told me they didn't know who the manager was! They didn't offer ANY solutions nor did they even attempt to make the situation better. I reported them to the Better Business Bureau and spread my story all over Facebook. Turns out my friends felt the same way about them. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I spent that night bent over the toilet because of their negligence. A**HOLES. Never again. read more

When we're in the Muldoon area around lunch, we usually stop in here. I always have great service, but we normally are here on weekends. I bet being so close to base it could get swamped during the weekdays though. The last time I was in I got the Saigon Dry Noodles and I thought it was fantastic! I also like their fried eggrolls. If I want Pho, I truly like their meatball pho too! All in all, the place is nice, and I find the service to be on point each time I go. read more

The garlic dipping sauce for the egg rolls for me was not good but the egg rolls were great. The only thing was the service was horrible!!! It took 15 minutes before he came to take our order. I come here all the time for pho and it's always awesome. Today I tried the Tofu Pho and added extra veggies. Although they were fresh and well-prepared, I was a little disappointed by the vegetables they included (cabbage, white onions, green bell pepper, red bell pepper, and a tiny bit of carrots). It was tasty, but it would have been a lot better if there was a wider variety of veggies or if they used better soup-veggies, like more carrots, snow peas and broccoli. Still tasty, just not my fave. read more

This was the first time I had ever tried pho and it was not a pleasant experience at all. I ordered shrimp pho with veggie spring rolls and the spring rolls were awful, I literally took a single bite and spit it back out. The pho was ok just not worth $13. My issue was when I nicely informed the waitress that I did not like the rolls she told me I would have to pay for them anyway even though I only took a single bite, fine no problem but her reasoning is what made rethink the cleanliness and quality of the food. The waitress told me I had to pay for my food because since I took a bite she could not resell it to someone else! At that time I'm thinking if I hadn't taken a bite they would have resold my food to someone else! Or was my food already from a person before me? They were very unprofessional. read more

NOBODY go to Pho Saigon in Tikahtnu. My gf and I both ordered pad thai and specifically asked for no peanuts because she's severely allergic to them. After a few bites of her pad thai, her face started breaking out. Right away she asked them to remake it free of charge but they refused to do that. She wanted to speak with the manager but they said he wasn't there. So she asked for the manager's name and number but they wouldn't even give her that. They even said "We don't know the manager's name." We stormed out and we'll never eat there again. Michelle's sick to her stomach and has hives on her lips. What kind of crap is that! How do they away with this?! HOW DO YOU NOT GIVE YOUR MANAGER's NAME/NUMBER/!! read more

When I come here its for one thing: chicken pad thai. It's one the best in town. Do you know what is not the best? Their attitude. It's the worst in town. Once, I asked for a non spicy pad thai, they gave me a very very spicy one. I couldnt finish it. When I let someone know, I guess it was one of the owners or a manager, and he didnt own up to it. Not even a 'sorry'. I let him know that we shouldnt be charged for this and he said that there was nothing he could do. What a shame. After that, it took me a year to go back. Since then they seem to be hurting for business and they might be under new management. Some things never change though, their attitude. Everyone that I have recommened this place to in the past have all let me know of their bad experience because of the attitude and rudeness that they recieve. Now, I have learned how to make pad thai. Every time I make it, it gets better and better. I will only be back here for a pad thai emergency. Haha. read more

I like their menu because it has a good variety, and the food is pretty solid overall. The dine-in service has generally been good, and the restaurant itself looks clean, modern, and comfortable. That said, the takeout experience has almost always been on the slower side throughout the years, so that is one area I think they could improve. I'm sitting right in front of you. I finally get my order! hallelujah. but it's fucked up because you know they're rushing at this point. I ordered the rolls with NO PEANUTS. NO PEANUTS - highly allergic. this is non negotiable. apparently some dude doesn't think so and asks if switching out the peanut sauce sitting next to my rolls is good enough. no, bro. not good enough. then I'm asked if I had originally ordered my rolls with no nuts. well considering how highly reactive I am, yeah, yeah i'm sure. and why are you really trying to blame me for this epic fuck up? worst thing is you can tell the kids working here don't give a fuck. it's so obvious and takes away from what makes Phonatik so good. so like I said earlier : get your shit together.

I feel the need to update my rating due to my last experience. For a long time this was one of my favorite restaurants, the coconut curry shrimp has been my wife's favorite dish, but today my wife order a beef soup. The smell on it; was awful and at first, I thought she was exaggerating, but after taking a sip, there was a horrible taste. I never return a plate back to the kitchen so we just order another dish, hoping that the server would ask the reason why we order another plate and the soup was left on the side untuched, but she never did. After a few more minutes a large party showed up and I felt impelled to let the server know in case they had spoiled meat and where not aware of it. She then said it was normal for the bad smell because they use shrimp paste for the soup. She never offered to take out of the bill or offer another option. I never asked for a free meal, but for sure it went from 4* to 1* with so many great options for food in Anchorage and giving my last experience, I don't think I'll be coming back any time soon! read more

You must understand, since I don't drive, this is a decision I give great thought to before I take into action. Because once my husband shuts the door on a place and says we aren't going back, that's it. He doesn't give them an ounce of grace. Their heads are on the chopping block and they're blacklisted for life. He approved of the interior. It was casual enough to be comfortable, but had some nice touches to make you forget you're in Anchorage's most "dangerous" neighborhood. We walked in and were greeted by.... Noone. We had to walk all the way to the back of the restaurant to get someone's attention and were instructed to seat ourselves. No app. Then our rice. Then finally our overcooked, inedible app. Wtf. I should have refused to pay for it. Whatever. My entree was a 3.5, my husband's was a 2. The app was -1. One nice touch is they the noodle are cut in half, so if you haven't quite mastered eating noodles with chopsticks, these are easy to scoop onto the spoon. A welcome touch for most Americans. :).
