I love a good pho - soup that is! And this place has it. I've been here 3 times so far and each time its delivered. Their pho is fresh, tasty, and seasoned well. The only downside to this place is the ambiance. It's a cafeteria style restaurant (the pictures are a little misleading - its more cafeteria-ish than the pictures let on). You come in. choose your own seat, place your order at the table and when your done, pay at the checkout counter. The wait staff doesn't really speak at all (much less any english) and the service is very transactional. You won't wait long for your food but this place won't give you the warm fuzzies either. It seems to always be packed with Vietnamese staff and guests - which I consider to be a good indicator of a restaurant's food authenticity. For good food AND good ambiance, I still recommend the Green Papaya in Uptown Dallas, but for good pho on the North side - I'd recommend this place. read more

I got the Chicken Pad Thai and the waitress told me it'd be sweet (which I usually love) but holy cow it was SWEET! Honestly it wasn't that great and the most I ate it the more I didn't like it. The restaurant was also super cold as if they wanted us to order the Pho to warm us up. Service was subpar. They took my order and then didn't come back but I guess that's typical of an authentic Viet restaurant. Overall, I probably won't be coming back as there are so many other good restaurants in the area. read more

Been here a few times now and the pho is okay. The broth is not a boldly flavored as other places and the goi cuons don't seem to be as fresh. The ambiance is good though and there is plenty of seating. The service is good and quick. For Frisco, this is an okay place to get your pho fix, but I'd skip anything else. We love this place. We've been going to this one for ages. They are a chain, apparently a franchise, but this particular restaurant is a "mom and pop" shop and they really care. Food is excellent, service is great (they actually remember us, and know that my wife always wants limited spices and a fork; I can handle chopsticks. When they changed their menu, and we liked stuff that was on the old menu but not the newer one, they've always made the old menu stuff for us. I really enjoy this chain - and this is one of the cleaner locations. Went last night for dinner. I got the chicken, shrimp, pork and eggroll vermicelli (v6). Was okay, but had little flavor and little meat. Had to cover it in sauces to create a good flavor. Then I bought a chicken pad thai to go for my husband - which was also pretty good. (I like that their pad thai is not spicy) However, as soon as our food was dropped off, the server girl also left the check. She did not return ar all - not even to fill up any drinks. If you go here, do not expect service while you are lingering after you have finished your food. Once they give you your food, they are done with you. It is obvious that the employees and servers are part of the family that owns the place, because they are not concerned about customer service or tips. They are there to get in, work, and get out. I would not recommend this place. Do yourself a favor and pay the Frisco premium price and shell out $10 for a bowl or better pho down the street. Pho Que Huong...the chain of pho restaurants. You really have to be careful with this place. Not all these places taste the same. In general, I have a real distaste for Pho Que Huong. Words of bland, tasteless, nasty come to mind. But this location is different. Their pho is...dare I say it...good? And it wasn't always like this either. I just happened to stop by because it was the closest pho restaurant to me and I was CRAVinG some pho. (cold weather, what could be better? Lots of things, but pho is up there.) The broth was delicious, the thit chin was very good. The thit tai was a lil overdone, so I will ask for that on the side next time I go. But the food was great. I went there right when they opened, so the eggrolls were hot and fresh as well. Bland Broth - A notch above oily water. 2. Al Dente Noodles - No, NO. It must be soft enough so that the flavors will soak through. I randomly ended up here in a fashion that's common to people who've never had Pho before: A co-worker turned to me one day and said, "I want to go to a noodle house. We're going to a noodle house of lunch." Enter Pho Que Huong. I didn't really know what to expect, as I have never eaten Pho or any kind of Vietnamese cuisine. But I went in with an open mind and an empty stomach, and it really paid off for me. First of all, this place has quite an expansive menu. Like, really expansive. There are quite a lot of options for appetizers, soups, noodle dishes, main entrees, etc etc. As long as you're expecting something of the Asian persuasion, a group of varied people could easily find something that would suit their fancy here. Second of all - this place is AFFORDABLE. I was pleasantly surprised that my choice of filet steak noodle soup was under eight bucks of a shockingly enormous bowl - and when I say enormous, I mean in a ridiculous action movie, someone could be plausibly drowned in these bowls of soup. Ten dollars goes a LONG way here, and in a good way. And for the price, the food is a good quality and mighty tasty. That big ole' bowl of filet steak noodle soup was as delicious as it was filling. My dining companion and I also split an appetizer sampler of skewered meatballs, spring rolls (just lettuce and salad in rice paper with dipping sauce), and an eggroll, and everything was delicious. The dipping sauce was really good, too. But man, that beef noodle soup - there are a lot of beef options (even tongue and tripe if you're into that kind of thing) for as little as $5.50 a bowl, and man. This stuff is perfect for a cold winter day. Warms your stomach and fills your belly in a good way. As long as you're not expecting anything fancy, this is a quaint little place. You come in, you sit, you eat, you pay at the register, you go. In the times I've been here, the place has never been overly crowded or so deserted you start questioning the place. Everything about this place is simple and straight to the point. I love that. No frills, no nonsense. That translates to the affordability of the price, too. If you're not as keen on a dine-in experience, the food is just as delicious to-go. I've sat and ate and placed a to-go order for people at work, and every dish I've brought back has been deemed delicious and noteworthy. I will definitely be returning to this place in the future. The food is just too good, simple, and affordable not to throw it into the dine-out rotation. It's pretty tame, too, for those less-adventurous eaters who have hesitated to trying anything like Pho. In the vast sea of chain and vanilla restaurants in the Plano, McKinney, Frisco area, Pho Que Huong stands out for being something different, something cultured and eccentric. It's one of the very few Vietnamese restaurants that's located outside of the heavily Viet populated cities, like Richardson and Garland, and it offers some marginally authentic dishes and delivers them well. Stand-outs include the pho - obviously - any noodle soup dish (bangkok seafood soup especially), and goi cuon (spring rolls). Note - this place gets pretty busy during lunch so come a little earlier (11:30 am) or a bit later. read more

Look at that! I gave this place 4 stars....you wanna know why? Because they treat me like I am a king. The moment I walk in the door they scurry around to find me a place to sit...they know I am not afraid to share a table with a stranger - so even on a super busy day they find a way to work me into the crowd. I don't even have to order...they already know what to bring me. That's service! And I am not the only person that they treat this way....I watch them work hard to serve new customers and they go out of their way to make the regulars feel special. I always get the chicken curry pho here with a chicken spring roll. The spring roll is perfectly made. The chicken has great flavor and their peanut sauce (more than like from a bottle of generic food services sauces) is delicious. The chicken curry pho is spicy and delicious...and there is always a huge fucking carrot in there! Like that is when I envision as I am pulling up to this place...that big round orange but of goodness that will be floating in my soup...it's like a tasty food beacon. If you ever find yourself stuck in Frisco for whatever godforsaken reason....make plans to stop here! This particular location of Pho Que Huong is not only my to-go place for pho, but also my default restaurant when I can't think of somewhere to eat. This is the place I would put in my "else" or "catch" clause if I could upload code to my brain. Pho Que Huong will always hold a special place in my heart. I've been here so many times that I've finally learned to use chopsticks. Thank you, Pho Que Huong, for teaching me such an invaluable survival skill. The pho here is amazing, and I especially enjoy their bun bo hue. I recently tried their tofu spring rolls, and they're awesome! It still kinda weirds me out how they seem to be wrapped in magic tape, but I'm getting used to it. I love that they put lime in water, and how they bring out the water by default before even asking if you'd like something else to drink. Service is friendly and absolutely great here, and it always amazes me how fast the food comes out, no matter what you order. If there's anything I would change, it would have to be the napkins (thank you, John M., for describing their suckage so accurately) and the general smell of the store. I'm not sure if it's the cleaners they use or the cilantro in the air, but it always throws me off when I walk in. This place rocks. Try it out and join the addict club! read more

Since I'm vietnamese I have to be critical. The beef pho here is not bad. I've had better at other restaurants but it will do. What really irked me was the bo luc lac. In english they called it "black pepper beef" but on the menu when translated to vietnamese it said "bo luc lac". THE VIETNAMESE TRANSLATION IS WRONG. This black pepper beef came with a sauce and of course tons of black pepper. The dish was okay but bo luc lac (shaking beef) is cubes of steak and it's prepared dry with no sauce. Just didn't like the fact that they tricked me. On the other hand the spring rolls were good. I'll keep looking for another vietnamese place though. read more

This is one of the things I miss most about living in this area. I used to be at the front door when this place was just opening for the day. It's by far one of my favorite post party spots! Here's why: I can eat pho everyday of the month and would if it was practical. We usually end up hitting this place up the morning after me and my friends spend the previous night boozing. So the morning after, we shamble into PQH and it is everything I want it to be and a great cure for hangovers. It's cheap. I mean $5.50 for a huge bowl! That starts the healing process. Pair that with their shrimp, pork and vermicelli spring roll & and most importantly my black coffee with condensed milk. The broth is great! It has good flavor and consistency. The rolls are savory and the coffee is perfect. After all that, I feel like a million bucks! Service: My mindset when I step into this place with friends can be likened to a hungry tiger entering a slaughterhouse. Do not poke me. I don't want to start small talk. I don't even want to talk to my friends.i just want to order, eat and leave with as little convo as possible. I want my drink of delicious water kept full also. This is a winning formula for me! And PQH nails it! They take our orders, get our drinks and food out promptly and take care of our checks in no time flat. That's all I'm looking for at these times. However when go here without partying the night before, the service is still just what I want it to be. The host and servers are pleasant and do their jobs well. And I rate this on my 10 years of experience as a server. Reason this place gets 4 stars from me: I base my review around what I expect when I go to a certain establishment. Over a year later... went back to try some soup. A friend and I decided on an impromptu lunch and because it was cold & rainy, Pho sounded great. The place was packed with lunch goers - but we were able to get seated right away and while the crowd was steady is moved quickly so there was never anyone waiting for a table. The service was brisk, but not rushed. We shared shrimp summer rolls to start. They came out super fast...as in we ordered them and 5 seconds later they were at our table. I certainly don't like the idea of food being premade, but I guess if its always busy at lunch its a decent way to stay ahead and allow time for the hot meals to be prepared. They were good but I don't think memorable. More mint would have added more flavor. My friend had the beef noodle soup and I had the chicken noodle soup. The soup came out hot and looked yummy. Sprouts, jalapenos, limes and mint arrive on the side. I would suggest adding it all, including some Sriracha to give it some heat and add a bit of flavor. The broth was a tad lacking in flavor, but once doctored up it was much tastier. I was prepared for the broth to have a more flavorful taste, but adding the side items helped make it to what I was expecting (and wanted). The chicken and the noodles were both cook perfectly, although I would probably opt for no meat next time. I liked my meal choice much better this time around for sure however, it rates the same for me. I liked it, but won't really rush back! This was a 3.5 star visit..but since I can't give .5 stars.. This place is awesome. Probably one of my favorite food joints around the Frisco/Plano area. Pros: Cheeeap as it can get. The quantity is amazing for the price it goes at. I.E. a large bowl goes for $5.95, and this is truly large. The quality is amazing. Price doesn't sacrifice for quality/quantity in this restaurant. The service is also amazing as well. The staff always smiles, and they're very welcoming, looking forward to serving you. They make sure you enjoy your visit in their restaurant. The menu is very diverse, ranging from Pho, to vermicelli noodle bowls, rice platters, and even desserts. Cons: When it's busy, it is really BUSY. Unless you have an hour or more lunch break, do not go here around lunch time (12:00 - 1:00). Anytime afterwards is better. The large influx of customers swarming into the small vicinity creates problems. ****Conclusion: Amazing place, with warm, welcoming staff, and awesome food at an unbelievably affordable price. If your going to spend five dollars, you might as well spend it on a healthy, nutritional, filling meal rather than some sandwhich. read more

Nummy. I am, by no means, an expert on Vietnamese food. If it is all this good, I might have to change that fact. Seated quickly. Maybe not warmly, but efficiently. Its warm out, so I bypassed the pho and went with the basil beef flat noodle. A little light on beef, but the flavors were very good, the portion was good and the price is solid. Food out very quickly and was obviously freshly made. I did eat with a friend and they brought the food out in two stages, mine about 1 minute behind his. Different, but preferable to either cold soup or underdone food. I'll be back, no doubt. The Bahn Mi and, of course, Pho are next on the list... read more

When looking at their menu, I saw so many rice and noodle dishes that I also wanted to try, so I decided to let my friend order pho and I order something else so that I could taste two dishes. My friend's pho was great. I ordered the chicken curry flat noodles. It was awful. The sauce was so yellow and oily that it stained my teeth. The sauce had no flavor to it whatsoever. Cheap, dirt cheap, filling, good, and friendly staff. I go here during lunch breaks at work often, as do my co-workers. I'm not a pho expert, but I have had it in several different restaurants, and I think its just as good if not better here than many of them (and cheaper). Little things stand out to me too in terms of service, especially in a place like this that isn't really a sit-down restaurant type feel. For instance, one of my co-workers always orders a diet coke, and the man who presumably owns (or at least manages) the store always brings him a diet coke before we even have a server. Mehhh. Not a place well come to again. Soup, Pho, was OK. The d spring rolls were decent, but pretty flavorless. And the fishsauce tasted like they bought it at at Walmart. The gore's had the Pho, and were not fans. I had the shrimp spring roll and grilled pork sandwich. I was left feeling line I was back in the 80's. "Where's the beef?" I took everything on the inside of the roll, put it on 1/2 and I still had half the bites with nothing in them. Combine that with the flavorless fishsauce, the lackluster peanut dip for the rolls, and this place was a bust. The only redeeming item was the Thai Tea. How this place gets a 4 star overall rating is beyond me. I have visited twice and this is what I've found. At any Pho restaurant I always order Pho with beef balls and sliced beef (on the side so it doesn't get over cooked while sitting in the bowl). I also start my meal with an order of goi cuon (fresh spring rolls with shrimp, sclied pork, noodles and herbs). As for the results at Pho Que Huong (PQH): Service: You shouldn't go to ANY Vietnamese pho restaurant expecting 5 star service. Expect to see your waitperson very rarely. Once to take your order, once to bring food out (appetisers and entrees will almost always come out at the same time) and once to bring you your check. You go to the counter to pay (this is a Vietnamese tradition, not a sign of a poor server). Also, don't expect the server to come back to check on your meal to make sure it's ok. PQH service mirrored all this and did not affect my rating. Food: PQH's food left a lot to be desired. The goi cuon were fairly fresh, but lacked the proper ingredients. There were no fresh herbs and, thus, very bland. I asked one of the employees to have the cooks to make me a new order with the traditional ingredients but was told that that was not possible as they did not have them on hand (What??? isn't this a Vietnamese restaurant???). As for the pho, nothing special as the broth was bland, the noodles mushy, and, again, most of the traditional fresh herbs were missing. I won't be going back. read more

Do yourself a favor and go to their Plano location instead. It'll be worth the drive. This location doesn't live up to the other ones for the following reasons: First, the amount of food that they give you is very minimal, especially if you order their pho. I ordered a large bowl, and the amount of meat and rice noodles that they gave were lacking. Very stingy in simple terms. Also the service is pretty $hitty. They could've at least asked a simple.. "How's the food?" or "Is everything okay?" Instead they just stood there and didn't even bother. Absolutely poor service. Finally, the most crucial point is that the place looks disgusting. A foul and unpleasant odor emits throughout the restaurant. If that wasn't bad enough, bugs lurk around, which isn't surprising when you take into account how the place is the opposite of the definition of clean. I could go on with my rambling, like how the veggies(bean sprouts, mint, lime) that came with pho were very much wilted and not fresh were, but if you absolutely must/want to try this place, actions speak louder than words, you know? read more

This is one of my favorite cafetaria style restaurants near my job in Frisco that i love to frequent. Its strictly about the food. Its almost always packed for lunch but waits are no longer than a minute to find you a chair to share a table with a random stranger. Food is simple, affordable and quick to prepare. Their Pho is comparable to most Vietnamese places in the Metroplex and comes in handy when you feel like sweating. There is a lot more to their menu with rice and noodle dishes. The Meat is typically thinly sliced and sometimes i wonder how many porkchops can they really get out of one reap texas style porkchop. The food is always tasty. I am always partial to some Basil type entree all the time and sometimes i order an egg on top and never forget to order the Thai Ice tea which is a fave of mine. The Decor is nothing to write home about except that they have flat screens hanging tuned to CNN all the time. I remember a few months ago they expanded it due to the fact that they were getting more customers due to their affordable prices and the diverse population from the few big companies that have recently moved to Frisco. It was kind of funny how they did the whole expansion/renovation without shutting the business for one day but i must say that is gangster cos they must at least be breaking about a 100 food safety violation codes but one thing i love about Immigrants is that as long as the food is good they will never complain lol. read more

This place is pho-ntastic. Every time ive been here the food has been great, the service friendly and quick. Not a bad spot if u have a limited amount of time. They have a substantial menu, however i stick to the eggrolls and beef pho, and have yet to be disappointed. As far as price goes i would say its average for what you'll pay anywhere for any meal, but the portions are bigger. All in all, a nice spot that i plan to keep going to. read more

I'd have to agree with the comments here about the poor ambiance of the Preston location. The smell was almost putrid and if I'd not ordered carry-out, I probably would not have stayed long enough to finish my meal. On a slightly-more positive note, I found the flavor of the Chicken Curry Soup w/Rice Noodle to be tasteful however the chicken itself seemed as if it were boiled w/o seasoning (as another yelper mentioned). The only other thing I will add is that I literally had to pour my drink out after taking a sip. The drink was fine (I hope) but the cup itself smelled almost like sewer which deterred my taste. This is unfortunate. Had it not been for the peculiar smell of the place, I'd probably had given it at least 3 stars and revisited in the future.
