We've been to this place numerous times over the years because it's so close to my church and house. If we want something quick, this is likely our choice. This place is never too crowded even you come in during lunch and dinner hours. I'm not saying they don't have enough business. Rather, people would come here for food and then take off soon after. As to the food, it's averagely good. We normally order the beef soup noodles - the one with clear broth. The beef and soup are on par with other Vietnamese noodle places. It's quite delicious. If we're in a mood for something a bit more spicy and flavorful, we would go for the beef stew soup noodles. The beef has a bit more fat and the soup has more herbal tastes. We sometimes also get the fried noodles or pad tai. We feel it's a bit too oily. We always request less oil. About the service. It's very typically Asian. They assume you come here for food and not for service. Once the food you order is on the table, you're on your own until you come to pay for the food at the counter. Doesn't matter you tip them or not, or how much you do, you may not get a thanks. So don't feel bad when it happens. read more

This place is PHO REAL!! I love Pho. I love Pho in the summertime, I love Pho in the wintertime. I love Pho is the morning, I love Pho at night time. One thing I love is consistency. Every Pho Que Huong I've visited has yielded positive results and great soup, so my reviews stays the same as the rest of the locations. The place was clean, the service was great, the food was yummy and I left with a full belly. My kids love Pho, so does my wife, so it's always fun visiting. I had bookmarked this place when I saw John M. singing it's praises on yelp, and I'm so glad I did! A friend of mine wanted to go somewhere different and I found out she had never tried Pho, so when I checked yelp and saw this place I knew it was time to check it out. This place was PACKED at 12:30 when we arrived and a line was very quickly out the door when we nabbed one of the last available tables. There doesn't seem to be any discernible process for when orders come out and we noticed that several people who arrived after us got their food before we did. Also, they forgot the shrimp spring rolls we ordered and brought them after we'd already been eating our entrees for a while. While I didn't like the spring rolls that much, everything else was DELICIOUS! To start I ordered the Thai Tea which was a delicious drink with a very good flavor, I loved they did the traditional cream on top that you mix in, so yummy! I also got to try their lemonade iced tea which was very very good. My friend got a traditional Pho but when I saw the chicken curry soup on the menu I went for it. The curry broth was delicious and I think I drained every ounce of it from the bowl, the rice noodles were also yummy and there was a large pile of them amidst the veggies. There are so many Pho Que Huong outlets around DFW. The ones we frequent most, are ones in Plano and Frisco. In Plano, they have one in Central Plano (Independence and 15th Street), East Plano (Jupiter and 14th - don't know if this one is still open), West Plano (Park), one in Central Plano (Legacy), and two in Frisco (Preston & 121, and Eldorado). I don't know if Pho Que Huong is a franchise or not. All of the locations I frequented, seem to have consistent Pho...heck, really, it's just a big bowl of MSG with meat and noodle - not easy to mess up this dish ya know. That's why my barometer of a good Pho Que Huong restaurant IS NOT the Pho. Rather, it is grilled pork on rice. East Plano location ranks the worst for grilled pork on rice. The best one is the one in Central Plano (15th and Independence), then West Plano, then this one on Preston and 121. I think the quality of the grilled pork on this location has even improved. I like that the grilled pork is sliced thin, so it was easy to chew. But over the years, the portion has gone down. It is now about 2/3 of what it was. read more

My hubby took me here when I said I wanted some Pho...with much hesitation and trepidation. He knows I'm picky, and that I'm in a mad love affair with the pho and Vietnamese egg rolls at Dong Nai in Austin. But...I live in Dallas now...and I must move on...must find good pho in North Dallas. I was really pleased with my noodles, broth, and slices of steak. The broth was a bit more gentle and mild (but pretty traditional to my understanding) than my preference - so of course I spiced it up with the appropriate on table accoutrements. Also, had a coffee with condensed milk - yum. We ordered the crispy eggrolls and they totally won me over as they are darned tasty! An additional note: see John M's review update about the napkins...TOTALLY true...couldn't have said it better myself. They utterly suck. Humorously, I used to complain about how they never give you napkins at the Pho houses we frequented in Austin. So, initially I was like "LOOK! NAPKIN DISPENSER ON THE TABLE!" Tonight was my second visit to Pho Que Huong. This location is in a shopping center very close to where I work which comes in handy for lunch or dinner on a cold day. I went there with a co-worker for lunch last week...and I just couldn't shake this craving for pho so it was dinner tonight. I always prefer beef pho over chicken and so far I've tried round steak and filet steak soup. Both have been equally delicious! The small order is more than enough for me (lots of noodles that are filling) and the price is very reasonable ($7.25 was the price of the filet soup which is more expensive than the round steak). The beef broth is delicious, and the ratio of meat to broth and noodles is perfect. The soup comes with a side of sprouts, basil, lime, and jalapeno. I let the jalapeno soak in the broth and then I remove it (it's super spicy and delicious). I also like my pho with a little siracha in there which really kicks up the broth a notch. Last visit I also tried the shrimp spring rolls which were delicious, very fresh. This time we tried the Vietnamese eggrolls...and I wasn't a huge fan. I prefer the fresh spring rolls over the deep fried eggrolls, but was worth trying. There is a staff that will seat you when you walk in. They take your order and deliver the food to your table (the food took less than 10 minutes to make/deliver to our table). You pay at the register when you're finished...on your own accord which I love. The menu is in English, but I still don't see the difference between the first and second page of beef soups...(we've asked both times and I'm not quite sure the staff knows the difference either). I can tell you the #15 and the #17 are delicious and I will be back to order either of these with an order of spring rolls in the near future...pho sho! (had to do it) read more

Fail safe place typically. Similar to most other Vietnamese, pho based kitchens. Seat yourself. Order. Food arrives. Eat. Pay at counter. Take two fortune cookies on the way out. It can get packed during a weekday lunch period. The Pho is good, not great but the broth has flavor. I usually order the S7- Curry chicken noodles. Way better. I ordered an A6 (BBQ meatballs) for an appetizer, which netted me two skewers with four small meatballs each. They were pretty tasty, but not exactly gourmet. Dipping them in a little sriracha made them a very serviceable starter, though. For the main dish, I selected the S7 (curry chicken rice noodle bowl), and it was really good. It's like a classic pho, but with a yellow curry broth and big carrot medallions. I added some Thai basil leaves and jalapeno for more heat, and the result was a delicious bowl. I wish there had been a little more chicken, but the price was definitely right for what I had. Bottom line, if you want a solid, working man's bowl of pho, this place will fill the bill. I've tried spring rolls, pho and spicy beef stew so far, they are all pretty decent. They all taste like any other normal pho places, nothing bad and nothing special. Any place that I go to all the time without need for a second thought gets 5 stars. The food is phenomenal here. The staff are as friendly as it gets anywhere. And if you get there at the right time, you can catch a nice sunset sitting outside. I always start with a Thai tea. For an appetizer, I get the shrimp spring rolls. And I almost always get the charcoal-grilled pork vermicelli bowl as the entre. A large dose of chili paste on top of that, all mixed with the little bowl of fish sauce really makes for a spicy good dish! They always have CNN on the overhead TV's, which is questionable, but it could be worse, right? It could be MSNBC. The large contingent of actual Asians of all walks of life in this place kind of says all that needs to be said about the authenticity of the chow. I always have a friendly and humorous little chat with the people behind the counter at check-out time. I showed them their excellent rating in Yelp. Restaurant owners are always happy to find out that they are popular with the independent reviewers in the world. This is just off 121 at Preston, a very convenient location for a quick meal. Here are the other Pros: -Very quick take out service, they will get your order together with all condiments FAST. -Cheap prices, 5.95 for large Pho, 5.95-7.95 noodle and rise dishes -recently updated decor -food is always fresh and tasty Here is the one con- Pho, yes even a large, has the least amount of meat anywhere. The pho here is probably the worst of all the places in Dallas. I had tried it years ago, and I wanted to give it another chance, but the pho was so bad. The broth and freshness of the meat (with other things... firmness of the noodles, etc) are the main things that makes a pho place good or not. Not the spring rolls (usually spring rolls are decent just about anywhere), the buon, the rice dishes, and not the service. The broth is almost unbearable. I ate the meat because I was raised to. This location has become TERRIBLE! This used to be my regular pho place and I'd order from them weekly. Over the past year, they have been padding the containers with increasingly more noodles and less meat. I ordered a large chef's special for a coworker the other day and I was absolutely embarrassed! The box was filled to the very top with noodles with about 3 small shreds of meat lying on top. For a *large chef's special*! His response..."You know your pho place sucks, right?" Yes, I do! Yesterday was the last straw. My entire bag of sprouts was slimy with a single, half-brown piece of basil thrown in. (Pic included). This is a reliable neighborhood favorite with great pho. The beef pho is delicious, with a rich, slightly spicy broth, chewy noodles and a lot of tender beef. The large portion easily feeds two and is a steal for $8. The BBQ meatballs make for a great desert and if pho isn't your thing, they also have banh mi and rice and noodle dishes.
