I knew the noodles ranked among the best before, but tonight I might have to make the declaration that this is my new Vietnamese spot. The noodles were soft as if they were directly transfered from the steaming hot broth to my plate. No sitting stale under a heat lump into a stiff, consolidated form. BEST PHO. My family and I have eaten here ever since they opened, and while I've eaten bowls of pho at many different restaurants, Pho Pasteur is still my favorite place. The most important thing about pho (IMO) is the broth and theirs is very flavorful. Add in all the other essential ingredients (good noodles, fresh basil and bean sprouts) and my favorite - their delicious meatballs - and you've got pho that will fill you up and warm you up for that cold weather. Out of all the pho places in Dallas, er Richardson, this place is by far my favorite pho joint. I've been going here for years and just this Saturday I got some pho-king awesome pho. Of all the meat combos that you can get in your pho, I'm down to eating all kinds of cuts of meat with my pho. I got the #12 on my last visit which came with fat brisket and well done flank. Actually.... I'll eat all kinds of meat except the meatballs. The meat balls just seem a little weird to me. They do have vermicelli noodles, rice dishes, sandwiches, and desserts, but I just love the noodles and the beefy broth. Service is pretty quick and you pay at the back counter. When your asian food adverse BFF gives into your craving and demandings of said Asian food, you don't hesitate, you don't flinch, you take it up, and QUICK. When we were bantering back and forth about what was for dinner, and I said "VIET!" and I heard the "ye" noise coming, I had my shoes on and was waiting in the car before he finished speaking. Trying to find this place in the dark was not that easy. It's on the SW corner of Beltline and N. Plano, in the corner of the L shaped strip as Conn's and Staples. The signage was not lit up, which didn't help. Upon walking in though, I was really impressed. Clean, bright, modern and airy, this place was really nice! Order of fried eggrolls, half order of spring rolls, pork with eggroll bun, and a pork banh mi. Spring rolls were kinda small, but they were fresh and tasty. The wrapper seemed more sticky here and it was really clear, so maybe its just a different brand. The peanut sauce was ok, but a tad runnier than I like. Eggrolls came served up cut in half, and on a plate with vermicelli noodles, veggies, and lettuce/basil/cilantro mix. I didn't really understand the sides stuffs, but wasn't complaining because I ended up throwing them all into my bun and eating them. muahaha! Speaking of my bun I enjoyed it very much. Noodles weren't all clumped together, and with just 2 soup spoonfuls of fish sauce and some sriracha I was in business. I didn't try the sammich, but it was reported that it was tasty, but not as good as Pho Bac's. I was nearly going to award Pho Pasteur 5 stars out the gate, but I will reserve it until I have come back to try the pho. Pho Pasteur... hello, loooovah!! First visit, I came with the notorious M.G.N. and we slurped down pho on like the 27th 100+ degree day. Hey, I was like the crazy honey badger, I didn't give a shit. They were all like, look at 'er eating 200 degree soup on a 110 degree day, she don't give a shit. And the pho was sooo good, I didn't. I ordered some spring rolls because I couldn't find the appetizers, tasty tasty too. Fast forward 2 week later. Still hot outside, hungry again, off to Pho Pasteur again for lunch, only this time with the notorious E.T.I. Again, it was some awesome, awesome pho. This time, I found the appetizer part of the menu and ordered crunchy egg rolls (served correctly with lettuce and noodles and stuff) and spring rolls. Hello, little fellas. Three cut in half come to an order, but let it be known I'd double up on that shit whenever. The pho is some of the best I've had, period. Still not not the very very best I've ever had (Pho 95 in Denver) but it's the closest I've found to perfection in Dallas. The broth is clean and clear, and not sweet. I'm a chicken and ordered the #1 (just beef), but E.T.I. got the tripe n'everything and he loved his. He declared it the best in Dallas he's had. So, two visits later, I can say I'm still in love and will drive the 15 minutes or so north to get my pho on at Pho Pasteur any time, any day. I'm from Houston and I'm from an Asian background so I guess I have pretty high standards for Pho. But this little restaurant is the best one I've had in Dallas. It's further than other places but if I'm looking for a hangover cure or something to satisfy my cravings I'm willing to drive to it. I've only ordered the pho dac biet and cafe sua da. (Combination beef noodle soup and Vietnamese drip coffee) and they are soo good. The coffee really gives you a kick and I love that kick any day I'm feeling tired. The restaurant itself is pretty relaxed and welcoming and the pho is pretty good. What killed my experiences here was the service. I went with my mom and a few friends on different occasions and different times during the day on different days. We were never really greeted with a smile, just a guy who seemed too occupied with his smartphone to give us the time of day each time and have menus plopped carelessly without any sort of true understanding we existed. The drinks are good, pho is good, better than other places I've been to and my Viet friends give it a thumbs up as well, it's just whenever my table would need something, all of the employees would be sitting around at the counter chatting it up or burying their faces into their smart devices. It would take a while and some ridiculous moments of waving around to get anyone's attention. Two-star rating is generous. It's the food. So back to the service talk. If you plan on eating here, unless you want to be virtually ignored by the waiters, be lost as to how to pay for your food, and not have your needs attended to unless you make a scene at your table, don't eat here. This is my favorite Pho place in the metroplex. A Vietnamese colleague of mine scoffed at me when I told him this and said it's not very authentic, but I still run into him there an awful lot for the amount of Pho places near our work in Richardson. I've tried a lot of Pho and this is what I like okayyyy? I always order either the Pho Tai Nam (2 types of beef.. I want to say eye of round and flank? ) or the seafood Pho which I became addicted to when I gave up meat for Lent this past spring. Hey, it was the hardest thing I could think of, but I didn't want to literally die...so I left seafood in as an option. They only come in large and extra large sizes - the large is too huge as is and I've never once finished it/I usually take half of the noodles out and I love the broth and heaping topping plate - they don't scrimp. It's definitely one of those order as soon as you're seated... have your drink brought to you within 30 seconds and your Pho at the MOST 3-4 minutes later. At max. Then your waiter is never to be seen again. But this is what I like about this place and never feel like a loser sneaking off to eat alone on those days I'm in a loner mood at work. You pay at the counter and my total is always exactly $7.52 after tax and you get in and out in 30 minutes. Perrrrfect. P.s. I actually once committed the most cardinal sin of all life ever when I brought my stepbrother here when he was in from out of town. We were so caught up talking and so equally used to sitdown restaurants or paying in advance for our food we literally walked out without paying and I didn't even realize it until it hit me like a lightning bolt two full hours later in a meeting at work. I broke out into a sheer panic and frantically texted him (we have both spent way too much time working in restaurants to EVERRR walk a bill, EVER) our indiscretion. This has got to be the most saltiest Com Ga Roti I've ever eaten. They don't even have a special sauce for dipping or even the standard Nuoc mam gung (ginger dish sauce) that usually comes with this dish. Instead, They give you soy sauce! Are they lazy? Do they even know how to pair sauces? Even the red rice that came with it was over cooked, hard and felt like tic tacs! I was definitely disappointed in the dish. I even mentioned it to the front and the lady and server laughed. Smh. I was trying to give them honest feedback. They honestly need to re-evaluate their menu and just learn to either redo or remove this particular dish entirely from it. Needless to say, I will definitely never return here. It just made me sad that they half stepped one of my favorite dishes. They need to add a sauce other than soy sauce. Way too salty. Rice over cooked, and chicken was dry. So, at a loss for where to go for lunch on NYE day, my buddy threw out Pho. Pho? Sure, why not? He had been to a (completely unrelated) Pho Pasteur in Arlington so, with the power of the iPhone, we located this Pho Pasteur in Richardson. It's stuck in the SW corner of the Conn's shopping center in the SW quadrant of Beltline and Plano Road - your typical Very Generic Strip Center. Inside, it's actually kinda nice - it looks almost brand new. We sat down, got some iced tea (unusually flavored, but really good), then ordered up bowls of Pho that our waiter recommended - with strips of beef and meatballs. They list two sizes on the menu - large and extra large. We got large bowls, and it's an enormous amount of chow for $6.95. The extra large was another buck, and I'm almost afraid to see how much bigger it is - would it feed a family of 4? Could you swim in it? Anyhow, the Pho was served with a garnish plate of bean sprouts and fresh basil - the cold bean sprouts definitely helped cool off the massive steaming bowl of broth and noodles and, well, you just gotta have that fresh basil. As massive as that bowl of soup was, it was the perfect thing for a cold, rainy, shitty day, and I inhaled damn near all of it. The beef strips were lean and tender, and the meatballs were very good (they tasted a little bit like baloney). I'm definitely looking forward to a return trip so I can venture further down the menu... thumbs up! read more

Not sure if the food tasted better because I was fairly hungry, but I genuinely liked Pho Pasteur. Definitely a nice change to have an authentic Vietnamese pho restaurant over the abomination of chain restaurant Pho Que Huong (sorry not sorry for calling it out but let's be real here). The quantity of pho they gave you was great for the price. The broth was just the right amount of flavor and the beef wasn't too dry (it's surprising how many pho places give you a piece of bark to chew on). In addition to the pho we bought a Vietnamese coffee and three colored ice Che--both were great! Just a forewarning the Vietnamese coffee was very strong (maybe I just can't handle the authenticity)! The dessert shaved ice was delicious though. As for service, it wasn't bad but it wasn't anything out of this world either. Overall, very good restaurant and will be coming back to try other dishes in the future! read more

Pho Pasteur makes me miss Richardson terribly, there just aren't many affordable Pho places in the Dallas/Uptown area who serve the real deal. Their Pho bowls only come in large or extra large, the meat tastes like it's been soaking in broth for days, people speak English here (for the most part) and the place is CLEAN. What more could you ask for? Well I guess if you were to they also have awesome Vietnamese sandwiches, huge rice plates that come with a cup of Pho broth, crispy egg rolls, fat spring rolls, a traditional Vietnamese drink selection and yummy desserts that you can even take to go in a Styrofoam cup. Three words: Pho is amazing! The best cure for hangovers! Not kidding. I usually get the pho with sliced beef and meatballs. Many people also like their combination pho. Place is nicely set up. Much cleaner than most pho places around the area. Their asian dessert orders are delicious. Banh Mi is scrumptious. The only thing is, I would not suggest ordering their rice plate because they give you way too much rice and not enough meat or veggies. Disappointing because I am a meat lover. At least give me enough meat to compensate for 3/4 of the rice on my plate. Now if only they deliver pho to our home, that would be like heaven for me. Pho Pasteur is my all-time favorite! Their broth is always on point and they give you a generous amount of noodles and meat. I always get the regular size bowl of pho because their spring rolls and egg rolls are a must as well and they fill you up! The spring rolls are always fresh and the egg rolls are crispy with tasty fillings. My favorite beverage here is the Vietnamese Iced Coffee. It's strong but really tasty with the condensed milk. It might not be the healthiest drink because of the condensed milk, but you gotta have it when you come here. Service is awesome and the prices are very reasonable! It's very clean and neat for a pho restaurant. I come here at least once a week to get my pho fix! read more

The quality of pho in DFW has been steadily improving the last several years. It's not as good as Southern Cali (Bolsa area) but Pho Pasteur is as close to authentic pho as it gets in Dallas. When I crave pho, this is my #1 goto place. I compare all other pho restaurants to this one. They have the best tasting broth in DFW hands down. I can imagine a little Vietnamese grandmother coming in early to make the soup for the day. This place easily beats that overrated I Heart Pho place over the head with chopsticks. As with 99% of mom and pop asian restaurants, you don't go there for customer service, so don't expect a refill of water or anyone checking up on you. You go there for the delicious food. This place is no exception to that rule. I always have to ask for extra lime 2-3 times before I actually get it, but you generally don't follow the 15-20% tip rule here either. So it's a give and take. Thier ice coffee and three bean dessert drink also top my favorite list. Plus it's BYOB when you feel like a little wine or beer with your pho or vermicelli. read more

A friend brought me here; I had never had Pho before and I was NOT disappointed. It was Saturday lunchtime, and the place was packed and noisy. But that didn't bother me at all; my food arrived promptly making me of all the other worries in the world. Ordered the chicken Pho. Came in an obnoxiously large bowl and then a huge pile of fresh cilantro, basil, and bean sprouts (been to a couple Pho places now, but this one piles the most fresh veggies!). I LOVE me some vietnamese food and I was on a date with a Vietnamese man who ordered in the local lingo. I lurve me some Pho. I was spoiled in Denver of all of the places you could go in a little clump on the shady side of town that had everything from Pho 1 to Pho 95. I am always searching for the closest thing to Pho 95. Pho Pasteur, you have done it. It is amazing. The broth is just right, the fried egg rolls leave nothing to be desired, just perfect. The inside is nice and clean and they treat you like a true vietnamese restaurant will, they will serve you food and will leave you be. So if you want something, coffee, dessert, etc order it at once, and when you're done they won't come bring you a check look on your table for your number and then go to the cashier to pay. I have been back several times, it's a bit of a jaunt but I'll do it. My local pho places just don't cut it. read more

Probably one of the cleanest Pho restaurants I have been to. The food was great...apparently they have the best spring rolls, I got a half order, and ate it without any hesitation. They were very fresh, the peanut sauce was perfect...not too hoison-y nor too peanut-y. I ordered the regular pho, they only have two sizes, large and xlarge...I was confused. Let me tell you, you get A LOT of pho. I couldn't finish the large size at all. I definitely thing this place gives you more bang for your buck. Overall, this place is one of my favorite places. You know how at most pho places, the broth is kind of...dark...and powdery looking...or just old looking? Here, the soup is clean and clear and under control. I love it. Of all the pho places around Richardson and Garland, this one is by far my favorite. On my visit back home, I came here for dinner with my mom. This place never fails me. Although pho is extremely popular, this still remains to be my favorite one. The broth is always consistently delicious and everything is always fresh and clean. The pho does not leave the greasy after feeling on your lips and it always keeps me wanting more. The spring rolls are also a good portion and each one is wrapped perfectly. Some pho places premake the spring rolls and leave it refridgerated but pasteur makes it fresh everytime. I love it. I always rant about this place and even after so long, I have even more good things to say about it. Just a quick tip: try your pho broth with some sugar. Food quality: The food quality here is pretty good. Vegetables are fresh and clean and meats are are trimmed decently for excess fat. I have tastes multiple phos, egg and spring rolls, and rice plates and they have all been consistently savory and authentic. Last time I went, I tasted the spring rolls (authentic flavor and fresh ingredients, only a tad too cold for my taste), a beef pho (really savory and filled with fresh veggies) and a broken rice dish (big proportions and good food quality, but a tad too underseasoned for my taste). My only complaints about the food quality is the temperature in which some dishes are served (either too hot or cold) and the blandness of the rice dish I tasted (which was alleviated by adding soy and other sauces available at the table). Food presentation: Authentic presentation, clean plates and a wide array of fresh veggies and sauces at your reach. Appearance of restaurant: Restaurant is sort of "hole in the wall-ish", but pretty clean overall. Yeah, the menus are cheap and worn and the decor might be a tad corny and stereotypical, but the food is good. The place is located in a strip mall, so parking is easy. Service: Service is normal. No complaints. Value: Amazing value! Dishes are generally less than $10, even the large ones, so two people here can dine and leave full for around $20 (two dishes and shared appetizer). In general: Authentic cuisine, good flavor and cheap prices. Need to say more? A group of 4 of us came here on a Saturday morning to grab some pho. One of my friends said that this place is the best so I was down to give it a go. We were seated right away when we arrived and our orders were jotted down. The pho came out quite quickly with all the herbs. This place had culantro which was definitely a plus. The portions were huge. The sizes start at a large which was way too much for me. The prices were a bit high, but with the portions and the culantro, I guess that makes sense. The broth was very good. Slightly sweet with a strong beef flavor. The noodles were cooked well and there was plenty of meat. The broth wasn't fatty which I preferred. Overall, this place is great. I order the beef frank and meatball pho and half of order of spring rolls. It was pretty good for the price only 6.95 for the pho and 2.75 for the spring rolls. But one thing is that their service wasn't that great to me. I don't know if because I went there at 3:30 PM, the time where is the waiter's down time. Paid a visit to Pho Pasteur due to its inclusion in a "Best Of Dallas" article on pho....and I was not disappointed. We knew already this had to be legit, because they open early enough to have Pho for mid-breakfast, lol! We went on Tet, so we were not sure they would be open, but thankfully they were open. I ordered rare beef and brisket pho. The wife ordered rare beef, tripe, and tendon pho. The broth was deep with flavor, with plenty of fat droplets on top. It tasted very clean d not too MSGy. The meat was flavorful, though a little chewy at times. The sides were plentiful and fresh. Th servings size was quite large, with plenty of noodles and meat. The only downside was that the tripe was overlooked, so it was very chewy and inedible. The menu here is pretty vast and we will have to try it out again. read more

I'm no pho connoisseur, but I got a big bowl o' goodness at lunch today. I've had the snots for the past 4 days and had been craving some warm, spicy, salty comfort food to vanquish the crud from my head. Thanks to you fellow Yelpers, I found Pho Pasteur! I don't remember exactly what I ordered. Not gonna lie, I was a bit overwhelmed by the menu. Rather than try to fake it, I asked the waiter what I should get. I asked him to point to his favorite. I got a beef bowl with meatball quarters, slices of beef, flavorful broth and the beautiful plate of fresh herbs and bean sprouts. Dump it all into the bowl, add some hoisin and a hefty hefty few squirts of Sriracha... BOOM. I found the cure for the common cold.
