    COMBINATION BEEF PHO (LARGE BOWL)

I used to come to Pho Pasteur years ago when I lived in Boston, and I have so many great memories of eating here. I was really looking forward to coming back and experiencing that same sense of nostalgia. Unfortunately, this visit didn't live up to what I remembered. The quality just wasn't the same. The broth had a strange, off-putting flavor that I wasn't expecting. I kept hoping that adding the dressing and condiments would balance it out or bring back the familiar taste I remembered, but it didn't make much of a difference. It's always disappointing when a place you once loved doesn't live up to the memories you've held onto. I truly wanted to enjoy the meal and relive that experience, but this visit fell short. I hope this was just an off day, because I remember Pho Pasteur being a place I'd happily recommend.

Phở Pasteur is a classic Vietnamese restaurant that focuses on traditional comfort dishes, especially pho and other noodle soups. We walked into a casual, straightforward space that makes it the type of place you stop by for a quick, warm meal rather than a long dining experience. The atmosphere is nice with a busy, fast-paced energy that fits the style of food being served. The menu covers many Vietnamese staples, including different styles of pho, bun bo hue, rice dishes, and vermicelli bowls, giving plenty of options depending on what you are craving. The main draw here is the pho, but it landed a bit differently than expected. The broth had a lighter profile compared to other pho spots, with less of that deep, aromatic richness that usually makes the dish stand out. It was still enjoyable as a warm noodle soup, but the flavor felt a little more muted and did not have the same depth as some other Vietnamese restaurants nearby. The beef quality was solid, and the portions of noodles and meat were reasonable, but the broth is the part that makes the biggest difference in pho, and here it leaned more subtle than bold. Beyond pho, the menu offers a good selection of other Vietnamese dishes. The bun bo hue is a nice option if you prefer something with more spice and stronger flavors, while the rice and vermicelli dishes provide alternatives to the usual noodle soup. The restaurant also offers familiar sides and drinks like Thai iced tea, which pair naturally with the meal. Service is generally quick and the restaurant has a busy, efficient style, especially during peak hours. The staff handles the steady flow of customers well, and the food comes out without much delay. The location makes it convenient for a casual meal, but the fast pace can sometimes make the experience feel a little rushed. Prices are also a bit higher compared to some other Vietnamese restaurants, especially considering the portion size and the lighter broth profile, which may not feel like the best value for what you get. Phở Pasteur is a convenient option for Vietnamese food in the area, especially if you are looking for a quick bowl of pho. The food is solid, but compared to other pho spots, the lighter broth and higher pricing make it harder to stand out. It works well for a casual meal, though there are other places nearby that offer a more memorable pho experience. For a straightforward, no-fuss stop when you are in the neighborhood, it fills the gap, but it does not quite reach the level of a destination pho spot.

I've been coming to Pho Pasteur for years. It is one of the busiest places in Chinatown. They provide complimentary tea upon request. I usually order some type of pho although they have an extensive menu. This time I had the seafood noodle soup.Very good broth and a good amount of seafood. My server seemed bothered when I asked for a fork. Usually although a busy place, I find that servers are generally attentive and also quickly bring your check. This time, I had to go upfront to pay for my bill because I did not see my server for a while. Place wasn't very busy at the time and maybe he had other duties to attend to. Their bathrooms' floor were sticky and did not appear very clean.

I stopped by Pho Pasteur for the first time over a weekend and was surprised to see how large the space was! The menu is extensive with a variety of dishes but I opted to go for one of the more popular options, the BBQ Pork Chops (2). The dish ended up much bigger than I expected but overall I felt like the taste was okay. Some of the meat I received was quite fatty and the areas near the bone were still a bit red on the inside. Overall I'd rate my experience as okay - not something I'd necessarily seek out on my own.

I love the pho here, so healing. Service is usually pretty fast too, even when they're super busy. Very causal dining ambiance. Parking can be a little tough in this Chinatown area though, unless you're willing to pay for garage parking, which is very close.

Good pho, good appetizers, in good location. On a snowy day, we decided to go to Boston for some Pho. After spending way too long trying to get to expensive parking, I finally parked and made it in to Pho Pasteur. The inside was larger than I expected with plenty of open seating. We ordered the Pho XL Bowl with everything, the egg rolls, and the two quail appetizer. Service was quick, both when they took our orders as well as when it came out of the kitchen. The broth was great, full of flavor and the meat was plentiful, though both of our bowls were missing the tendon. We kept disappointing ourselves by mistaking onions for bits of tendon. The two egg rolls were good but super skinny, making me want for more. And the quail, while great, were a little too overcooked, but that didn't stop us from stripping all of the meat from the bones. If it wasn't for the parking situation, I would come here more often, but instead I may stop by some great places in Lowell that have free and plentiful parking.

Came in on a super windy and cold Boston night and got warmed up by some absolutely delicious pho!! Such a busy and packed place, but the servers are doing their BEST in ensuring everyone gets a table and everyone at tables are getting their food! Hot, fresh, tasty, what else can I ask from some pho? An absolute great place to checkout, but have some patience since it can be really busy but trust me it will be worth the wait!

Look at these noodles, they are just insanely delicious!

I came back here recently to have lunch and it is as good as I remember it from when I first started going here years ago. If you are looking for a great lunch/dinner experience in Chinatown, Boston, I highly recommend stopping by at Pho Pasteur.

While on a recent trip to Boston, we were in search of delicious but affordable eats and Pho Pasteur fit the bill. Pho Pasteur is a Vietnamese restaurant with a homey diner feel to it. We ordered some beef pho and spring rolls after a long day of exploring the city and it hit the spot. Service was fairly quick and even though we did not have a reservation on a weekend night, we were seated fairly quickly.

Plenty of Vietnamese dishes in a busy establishment! We got the #12 X-Large Pho, #23 Beef Meatball Pho, and #41 Combo Pork Chop/Skin/Cake Rice Plate. The rice plate was solid all-around: taste, meat tenderness, portion, and ingredient balance were all great. The other members of my group also viewed their dishes similarly. Very efficient operation too, they've clearly optimized it! Worth another trip to explore their extensive menu

The service here was very fast and attentive. Our waiters were all friendly as well! The pho itself was good and had a decent amount of meat. Nothing that blew my mind but I definitely enjoyed my meal!

We love this place! My partner thinks this is the best pho he's ever had (he gets the #12). Food always comes out very quickly and piping hot. Love they have a vegetarian corner of the menu and most things are vegan. The vegetarian fresh rolls were tasty with a great peanut sauce and I enjoyed the 99. canh chua chay (vegetable and tofu hot and sour soup) with a flavorful broth and lots of veggies and tofu. Huge portions too.

I loved that the crispy rolls were vegan but it was very taro (or potato?) heavy and the taro was just slightly undercooked. Pork looked and tasted old with not much flavor and no grilled taste. It was the most disappointing part of the meal. I ended up just tossing the pork out and eating the rest, which was tolerable with the fish sauce. Wish the fish had some fresh herbs - it only came with noodles, iceberg, cucumber, peanuts, and pickled carrots and daikon. Also wished the veggies were all cut the same way for a better cohesion in texture. The lettuce pieces were kinda large and the cucumbers were sliced into discs rather than strips like everything else. Fast service, but would recommend the noodles. I did see lots of other people getting the sandwiches, which is probably what I should have ordered.

Vietnamese cuisine is traditionally rooted in affordability, sharing an abundance of food, and enjoying good laughs with great company. By trying to force the concept into a high-end parallel, it just ends up feeling mediocre and hollow. The value simply isn't there--a single appetizer, one main entree, and three refreshments came out to a whopping $105. To make matters worse, the service was incredibly judgmental. Because our party of three only ordered that amount, the staff pretty much ignored us for the rest of the night after taking the order. The awkwardness started the absolute second we sat down. Before we could even settle into our chairs or get handed a menu, the waiter demanded to know what we wanted to drink.
