This has always been my favorite Pho restaurant. I have tried everything on the menu and there is nothing that I've not enjoyed!! Now days I always get the Pho Dac Biet with no white onions, added meatballs, and a side order of Cha Gio and fish sauce. And to compliment it I always get a cup of water and Cafe Su Da or Chanh Muoi. I've been coming here since it first opened and the family that runs it is great! My first banh mi experience, and good Lord, this place is awesome! I got the banh mi thit nuong. The pork is perfectly grilled, tender and flavorful. The sammich has shredded carrots, cilantro, and jalapeno spears too - fresh, tasty, and zingy. Perfect for a hotter-than-hell summer day! The restaurant is neat. It's very small, in the northwest corner of Westheimer and Wilcrest, the proprietors are friendly, and the food is quick. Takeout, you won't be there five minutes. Go try it! The markings of good Pho are the clarity of the broth and the depth of flavor. While the broth at this restaurant was quite clear, the flavor was not quite as dimensional as other restaurants I have gone to. It was also quite pale in color. I ordered a large and felt I had too much broth and not enough noodles. The noodles were cooked well, they did not stick together too much. Pleased this location offers cilantro in their toppings. I found the atmosphere very pleasant; restaurant was clean and I got my food very fast (i was the only one there though). Plenty of parking. The owner did pester me quite a bit to buy extra stuff, but that is his duty as a business man. read more

One of my favorite lunch spots as I've been coming here for a few years now. This is a great place for a solo lunch or with a group. Favorite dishes are Pho Ga, Vermicelli with Pork and eggrolls, and the Spring Rolls. Food is always fresh and service is always friendly. On the west side of Houston, there is no shortage of places to slurp down some pho. It's a family run joint that serves up some good grilled shrimp spring rolls but I agree with other posters in that they could spice up their broth a notch or three, or even phour. See what I did there? If you come here for lunch, come early and put your order in straight away. Mama Bear in the kitchen can only cook up so fast, and when they sit 10 tables at once then be prepared to wait. But if you live or work in Westchase, it's not a bad option. Pro Tip: The regular size bowl of pho versus the large bowl seems to be just the physical size of the bowl but not how much pho or meat you actually get, so get the regular bowl and save two bucks. read more

Honestly, I'd get the fully cooked meat here because I'm still pretty convinced I got food poisoning from the rare beef here. But the cooked stuff all seems fine. I still go here. The place isn't very big and can get crowded. You have to pay cash if you don't spend $10 or more. If you buy a drink and a meal, you'll just barely hit the $10. read more

A coworker has been bugging me to go and check this place out for a while and as a fan of Vietnamese food I said ok lets do it. So 4 of us went and ordered a main dish along with an appetizer each , we share the appetizers so we can all try more styles of food. Food was good cheap and fast ,,, My only complaint was that the language barrier ( or perceived barrier ) as they messed up our orders and they finally we had to get the menu and point at the items we wanted and say this ... not what you brought ,... at one point they were so late in bringing out one dish we finally said we don't want it to the waiter ... about 5 min later the manager walks up with the dish and asks who ordered this .. we said it was so late getting here we don't want it . Drove 10 minutes in the rain to order my takeout from Pho One. They didn't tell me there was a $10 minimum order for cash and my order was $8. All I can vouch for is the pork or shrimp sandwich on French Bread, it's under 5 bucks so you can't beat it for a quick cheap lunch. Delish! So I googled and Yelp and saw this place and let me tell you!!!!! This place is not a place to go. The food disgust me. The food took forever to come out. And not only that but the broth tasted really salty and not authentic. The meatball is nasty. Overall I had a very bad experience and the price was high. We got so mad we took a bite then left right after. We just paid and go. Went to a different pho cuisine and it was what we expected and it was way cheaper then here. Like how? Omg...both the food and service was fairly appalling. I truly do not mind paying high prices as long as there is basic, fundamental quality of food and service. In Houston, there is no shortage of quality Pho restaurants... so Spring Rolls and regular beef Pho should not be a tall order for any restaurant to stay competitive, just a few miles from Houston's Asiatown. First, the spring rolls were served with EXTREMELY HOT peanut sauce. There was steam rising off of it...no joke. I have not only been eating amazing Vietnamese food in Houston for 30 years but I have also been to Vietnam. I have NEVER had warm peanut sauce served with cold spring rolls. The rolls were very underwhelming, warm sauce not withstanding. The Pho was extremely disappointing... non-descript and the beef was flavorless with a funky texture...and overall the pho just didn't taste right...old? stale? I hate to be so vague, but there truly was nothing positive here. I was seething inside when having to pay the check. I am always more than happy to overpay when a restaurant is worth it or even just mediocre. I have no clue why this restaurant has such positive ratings. read more

Sadly, the day I was there their A-C was not working. It was so hot in there! I asked my cousins if they just wanted to go somewhere else, but they were so hungry we braved it and ate there. The food was good but nothing spectacular. The prices were pretty competitive. I am giving them three stars although it should be two because I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. Came here ordered a half order eggrolls banh mi thit pate, and pho gau. The pho was average, the rau (herbs) were very little. The egg rolls were not bad, however the fish sauce taste very plain like it was diluted. Accompanied by one piece of lettuce. I thought the banh mi thit was the bbq pork sandwich, it is NOT. I got one little piece of meat, and the pate was cut and placed in. I usually like it spread on there. I also had flan togo. It wasn't bad at all. Not too sweet either. This is right next to my office, so I decided I needed some Pho for lunch. I got in around 12:45, as the first wave of lunch go-ers were leaving. It took about 5 minutes for someone to come and take my order. Since there is a $10 minimum on credit card charges (I need to start carrying cash), I ordered a 1/2 order of spring rolls (2 rolls), 1 regular pho tai, and 1 cafe sua da. The spring rolls came after about 5 minutes with a hot peanut hoisin sauce. I've never had the sauce come out hot, but I think i might prefer it that way! The spring rolls weren't too memorable, but they were pretty decent and filling. I might just have a full order for lunch one day. I meant to eat one and save the other, but....oops! After about another 10 minutes my pho came out. I liked the presentation with a pile of noodles and the broth surrounding. I did my usual sprouts, basil, jalapeno additions and made a hoi sin, siracha mixture. I did taste the broth before, and it was nice, but a little thin. Tasted more like chicken broth, than any super beefy flavors. The portions (regular sized) are a bit small in relation to the price, and compared to other pho places I've been too. But I was full at the end of the meal, and I didn't even finish all of the soup. So I have no problems with the size! My drink also came out with the spring rolls. I really loved how I had to wait for the coffee to drip through the filter into the condensed milk before I could pour it on ice. I think it made it taste better because I had to wait. All in all, it was about a 45 minute lunch. A little slower than I would have liked for a vietnamese place (usually, they're lightening quick!), but it was a good atmosphere. It looks like they had a ton of macarons for sale, but I was too full, so I'll have to try them next time! read more

Little family owned pho place that was really close to me and I was hungover. Noodle soups always taste so good after a night of drinking, esp pho! So the reviews were right. The broth was very light and more on the bland side, but I liked it. Don't need a ton of msg to make food taste good because people generally cover it with Sriracha and hoisin sauce anyways. People were complaining about how they have a $10 cc limit purchase. There are a lot of places like this. Get over it and understand that they're a small business and how hard it is to run a business. The use of cc can do a lot of damage. Also, I'm used to it cause a lot of places in bellaire have a limit too. They only provide hoisin sauce, probably because they assume everyone has Sriracha in their cabinets. Also, they didn't give me any silverware. Wonder if they would give it if I was not asian myself hahaha.. Overall, I would come back for some quick pho. I'm not upset about those little things. The pho broth is not as dark or rich as most others that I have had. That sounds like a negative, but I am not sure that it is. It had subtle flavor, but that flavor was a great background for the other ingredients, which were all fresh. I would have enjoyed a little more meat, but the other ingredients were plentiful. The fried spring rolls were standard Vietnamese style, nothing too remarkable, of which I could, however, eat about 35 if I had one day to live. The service was friendly and the establishment was clean. An extra large bowl of pho with 2 spring rolls cost a reasonable $11. It is cash only under $10, which is a violation of the merchant agreement with the credit card, but I won't tell. I want to return to sample some other menu items. read more

I'm a sucker for good pho and this place has it. When I first came here, I didn't know what to expect. Normal, hole-in-the-wall place with okay food, right? Wrong! I got the pho with the rare beef, which was a treat. Previous places I've been take too long to serve it and the beef cooks through. Not here, it's delivered promptly and with the beef still pink. And the broth is delicious! A staple for me here are the shrimp spring rolls: wonderful tender shrimp and greens that pair well with their peanut sauce. Their menu is pretty well done, never had a bad dish here. Bahn mi's are excellent. Pan-fried noodle? My new favorite thing. I've yet to try their Cafe Sua Da but their lime soda is pretty rockin'. Only thing is that it gets pretty packed for lunch, so be prepared to wait a few minutes for your food. They also offer macarons (of a variety of flavors) which I need to try. I had to ask for a menu after waiting a few minutes. They seated and gave menus to people that came in after me. Not sure why he missed me sitting there. Had the chicken pho. Noodles were a bit overcooked. The chicken broth was a little salty. Good place to stop by for a fast meal. I had an $8 bill (tax included) but they charged $10 because their minimum is $10 for credit cards. They were not flexible about it even though just the evening before I had spent $17 for dinner. They did not try to offer to give anything in exchange for the extra $2 they charged me so I didn't leave a tip. Poor service and average level Pho food. I don't think I"ll go there again. read more

I tried this one for the first time on Saturday. Safe to say, we won't be returning. The staff was very slow that day, it must have been a bad afternoon for them. My boyfriend and I each got our typical safe-bet foods when trying new noodle houses, and it was not very appetizing. The only thing we enjoyed were the pork egg rolls, which I guess isn't too hard to screw up. The fish sauce...it didn't have the pepper flakes or flavorings that I'm used to, so it wasn't something I liked. It smelled like apple cider vinegar to me. I eat here about once a week, I enjoy the Pho so much, I always get half an order of rolls and a P1. I never even look at the menu for anything else, I should, I am sure its good. Its just so hard to change when you find something you love. Highly recommend the Pho. About the resturant: Family run, when I walk in I feel like I am walking into an old cheers sitcom, the recognize me immediately. Everyone is greeted with a smile. The place is pretty clean, there is a busboy that is always hard at work. The resturant is located in a strip-mall, but some of my favorite haunts are so don't hold that against it. Things to know: Have cash, they only take card if its over $10. Seating is never a problem unless its noon on the nose, then you may have a little wait, but not too long. This is so unprofessional. Now my card had two charges from them. This is a small "mom and pop shop" with great Pho. I had the rare beef with meatballs and ordered it to go. The Pho is flavorful and not too intense. All the ingredients appeared fresh and very aromatic. The noodles were packed together and not easy to separate once in the bowl with everything else. Great meal for the price. Have been here twice for takeout, will likely be my Pho to go locale for now on. This place is disgraceful!!! I came in as a first timer and gout Beef Pho and a large egg roll. When I got to work I realized they didn't give me a Togo bowl or Togo silverware. I managed to find some and my first bite I realized something is off with my egg roll. I looked and saw nothing g but pink in the middle of it. I open the rest and all of them were pink. I tried eating my Pho and it was not good at all! I call back and spoke with someone and told them I was not satisfied and would like a refund. The man then tells me to bring my food back in order to get my refund. I come back 2min later and the manager tells me he won't refund my money and his food is good. How are you going to tell me something is good when I'm the one saying it's not? If I'm not satisfied then what? I am not currently waiting for HPD since they called the cops on me for demanding my refund. Do not waste your time with this place. read more
