I'm a sucker for sandwiches, and now I've found a new spot. Oh, and they have "happy hour" from 7-8... say less. $10 sandwiches are a steal these days, especially since I'm getting tired of sandwiches being ridiculously overpriced. We ordered the Spicy Houstonian and the Chicken Pesto. I'm 100% sure that if we had eaten the Spicy Houstonian right away, it would've been extraordinarily good. The spicy mayo and jalapeño cheddar bread were perfect with the turkey, and while the Hot Cheetos got a little soggy, that's on us for talking for 30 minutes before digging in. The Chicken Pesto was pure homey goodness. You really can't go wrong there. This place is tucked inside a little food hall/shopping center I'd never seen or heard of before. There were only 2 employees but they were just vibing and going with the flow (‍). I'd definitely come back for another sandwich and maybe even explore the other vendors nearby! read more

Second Slice is singing my life with it's sandwiches, grilling me softly with [vegan] cheese, telling my whole life with it's [vegan] options, grilling me softly with [vegan] cheese, yeah, yeah, yeah! Fantastic East Downtown quirky and cool sandwich shop located in the Ironworks building. They have a broad menu of signature sandwiches, including four different vegetarian/vegan options, hotdogs, grilled cheeses, and elotes, including a vegan option with vegan mayo and parm (PRAISE!) Sandwiches can be ordered alone, with chips for an extra $2 or with elotes for an extra $4. Definitely worth the add on in my opinion as the elotes is a decent size portion. I was obviously thrilled to see some vegan options, and went with the avocado vegan grilled cheese on sourdough with a side of elote and man, was it good! The bread was a perfectly toasted and the cheese, was melty and delicious. It can be hard to find a dairy-free cheese with good consistency and this was just right. Amazing. I briefly spoke with the woman at the counter and she was very pleasant and knew a lot about the menu, steering me away from their white and jalapeno cheddar breads as they both contain milk. After letting her know it was my first time visiting, she shared that the sandwich shop has been there for three years now and is open seven days a week. There's ample seating inside Ironworks as well as a few outdoor tables out front. Parking is readily available in the large neighboring lot. Definitely a hidden gem! I can't wait to come back to try out some of their other sandwiches! Yeah! read more

I saw the reviews and decided to try. The service was great. I ordered the houstonian and was given a buzzer. Less than 10 mins later I had my sandwich. The bread was toasted to perfection and it even had the cheese pull. It looked delicious but I have to say overall this sandwich was very dry. I felt like it was missing something, it could be me so I am willing to try something else and update my review. Overall, its a good sandwich but I would definitely get something else. read more

I had one of the best sandwiches in recent years at Second Slice Sandwich. Second Slice Sandwich is located inside the Ironworks building, and they feature a menu of all sorts of panini-style sandos, mostly turkey, chicken, and vegetarian-based. And then diners can opt between different breads, sourdough and seeded bread. I had the turkey melt today... Again, best sandwich in recent memory. read more

I'm a big fan of their BLTs! The bread is phenomenal and I love the little sprinkles of parmesan they put on the bread. It takes a bit for them to make a sandwich, but that's because they're very busy. Recommend go early right as they open, as I've had to wait up to 30 mins once for a sandwich because of so many people ordering. It's so worth it though! read more

They take forever to make a sandwich took about 25 min to get one sandwich , ordered the chicken buffalo sandwich. This was a bad first time the employee forgot about my order apparently my sandwich was way too crunchy he left it in the small griddle they have there . He apologized but thats no excuse for a very toasted bun and forgetting an order will I come back no if the wait is that long on a normal day i can only imagine how it is when busy. My lunch is 45 min and I wasted 25 min waiting on an overly cooked sandwich it was hard and it was not busy here . The place is quick ti gee order just not sure what happened . Went on Wednesday at about 1:00pm for our second experience at the World Famous. There were no crowds, just a few students studying and a large family and another couple or two in the food court area of this small industrial warehouse building. The building houses an array of eclectic, small shops and seems to have very light foot traffic during the week...at least whenever we have been there. There is ample parking across the side street to the main entrance. On to the World Famous Second Slice experience. I ordered a classic grilled cheese with tomato on white bread with added bacon and my husband had the chicken buffalo melt on white, as well. Both sandwiches were ready with minimal wait. No issues finding a table. My grilled cheese was good with a perfect, buttery crunch and a gooey mix of cheddar, provolone and havarti with the bacon and tomato. My husband loved his Buffalo Chicken melt. It was like a panini. Both sandwiches were good sized and the bread to filling ratios were great. The bread itself was delicious and held up to the fillings. I felt like I needed a little more of a flavor boost for my sandwich though, and requested some raw onion, but they only have fried onions which didn't really add the tang I was seeking, but that is just a personal preference. The hubby thought a little fresh onion would have gone well with his buffalo chicken also. I think my grilled cheese was $9 plus a $2 charge for the bacon. My husband's sandwich was around $11 or $12...i can't find my receipt. The prices seemed fair given the quality, location and probable slow traffic during the week. We enjoyed the sandwiches, but we both wished they would have had some fresh onion as a choice. Also, I'm not sure who is responsible for keeping the tables wiped down in a communal eating space like this, but they could have been cleaner. The echo factor in an industrial facility like this can also be a challenge for those with hearing issues. I am not docking World Famous for either of those two things. As I stated in my check in, the Italian Club sandwich was flavorful, and worth the wait. The gentleman who made the sandwich, after it was handed to me, realized that he forgot the bacon. He apologized, asked for it back, added the bacon, and then rewrapped it in new paper. In an old Ironworks building, it was interesting to try this place out along with a coffee at a coffee shop in the same building. read more

I love cold cut type turkey sandwiches, but alas, I am pescatarian. However, this place has a bomb tofurkey sandwich. Not too dry (as tofurkey can be) as well as a good balance of all the toppings. If you are wanting a classic sandwich like your mom used to (or did not used to) make, hit this place up! The other sandwiches looked tasty and they have some more inventive ones as well! The ironworks area is fun too and a great place to work/a fun multi-use space. Being a remote worker, hitting up Ironworks, and then getting a sandwich here at lunch time, brings back some of the feelings of being in the office for me. read more

This was our first time to Ironworks Marketplace in EaDo, and we loved it! There are a lot of local shops and a few places to eat. Second Slice Sandwich shop has a great menu with vegetarian and vegan options (and stuff for carnivores, too!). I had the Vegan Houstonian sandwich (with regular cheese) and chips. It was amazing! All of the ingredients were fresh, and it was so flavorful. My boyfriend had the Chicken Bacon Avocado sandwich and he said, "This sandwich is amazing!" The atmosphere is great! It's an open area where you can grab a table and enjoy the shops and surroundings. We are so happy we found this place! We will definitely be back! read more

30 minutes for a sandwich, without prior warning. And there were three people back there working, extremely slow. I asked if it usually took this long, because it was my first time trying the place, one lady said no - one said yes because the bread and everything is made from scratch. I've worked in restaurants, and nothing even at a sit down restaurant would take 30 minutes for a SANDWICH. The food itself was "ok". Elote is not authentic, for the amount of time I wasted waiting I could have gone somewhere else. The Buffalo chicken melt did NOT taste fresh as the lady said was the reason for 30 minutes. Nope. Probably will not try again. Possibly order ahead of you are in a rush. read more

Yall are sleeping on this place! Just happened upon this on our way through Houston and it is a big fat YES. Not only great customer service, but the food was delicious. When I heard eloté I thought it would be your run of the mill corn mixture of corn and whatnots that any establishment coins. This stuff was FIRE. Sandwiches were on point as well! Anyway, it was our first time eating here. We're in town because my boyfriend is running the marathon and just wanted good salads...and fries of course. I had a side salad and side of fries that we shared. He had The Bleu Chicken Salad. We were blown away! Absolutely the freshest produce and ingredients thoughtfully curated in bowls and plates. These salads were like edible works of art. The fries were seasoned properly with a perfect crunch. Their food stand/restaurant located within Finn Hall (food hall) has straight up European vibes and I'm here all day for it. I can't wait for our next trip to Houston to go back and try one of their pasta dishes. Like literally everything on the menu speaks to me. What a great dinner experience!

I was happy that soup was an option as that would be just enough for me to eat. The gentleman at the counter waiting on me was extremely friendly and helpful. The chicken noodle soup was outstanding! Honestly one of the best soups I've had. The ingredients they use definitely make a difference. I'd highly recommend, between the quality of food and service, this is a strong option.

They were also very generous with the portions of each ingredient. My side, the potato salad, was also super yummy. It was dense and a decently sized portion. Overall, I totally recommend Brown Bag Deli! It's the perfect spot for a quick lunch. Would also make great food for a picnic!

I got the saag paneer kolache and the gajar ka halwa bread pudding. Now anyone who knows me, knows I'm a fiend for gajar ka halwa and saag paneer so this was a must. I haven't had this place before, but the collab definitely pulled me in! Savory vegetarian kolache options do not come often, and I really hope this inspires Eadough to add and keep more of them. The bread was so soft and pillowy and the saag paneer was flavored well without being too strong or punchy. The gajar ka halwa bread pudding was amazing - not too sweet which is difficult when it comes to most indian desserts. I recommend eating this warm or heated as it was a bit too dry when cooled or at room temperature. When heated, the cake was moist and buttery which played very well to bringing out some key flavors. I can't speak to the service, but the packaging was cute. I hope to come here again and try other options from their regular menu, but hope they keep these two going!

When we arrived I realized the place is a walk up shop so we roamed around once for parking and realized they actually have a small area to the right of the shop to park- it can be easy to miss. When we walked up, their pastries looked delicious! I ordered their s'mores croffin. For my drink I got the turmeric wellness hot drink- I read a lot of reviews complaining about wait time. We arrived around 10am on a weekday and it was quite empty. There was relatively no wait time for our drinks. My drink was unsweetened so I added packets of sugar into it and the pastry was delightful- crunchy, buttery, sweet, chocolaty on the inside all at the same time. This place has some picnic looking benches outside of it if you are interested in staying there. I highly recommend! I'm ready to go back and try some of their other pastries.
