This place is truly a gem for casual Vietnamese food and great service. The wait staff has always been very accommodating. Their Thai tea has the right mix of sweetness and nuttiness. The French Bread used for the Banh Mi is crispy and crunchy. I love the carrot slaw and tender beef that make up the Banh Mi. The main attraction here for me is the pho. The combination pho needs very little adjustment because the broth is so savory and aromatic. I love the fragrance of the spice mix. It deters me from using a lot of siriacha and hoisin sauce because I don't want to tamper with the broth. Nevertheless, I toss in a bit of basil, a squeeze of lime, a dab or two of siracha and hoisin and I am comforted by the warmth of this soup. We wanted to try new pho restaurant in the area and found this restaurant. It was at the corner of Winco complex but it was spacious inside. The service was good and prompt. - pho with rare steak & meatball: meatballs were good and meaty. I ordered large and the portion was quite generous. Finally decided to try the grilled pork noodle bowl. I could not have been more disappointed! The noodles were soaking wet and hot! I have been eating Vietnamese food all my life and I have never had a noodle bowl with wet hot noodles... it made the veggies hot and cooked them making them not appetizing to eat. I told the one person working and he apologized and said the large party before us used all the prepared noodles. Well OK, but offer to make mine properly then!! Ask me to wait more then the 5 minutes it took you to bring out my food. Why should I pay for a large party prior to my arrival? That doesn't make sense to me. The other thing that was off-putting was that there were 5 or more tables that had not been bussed. All tables around where we were sitting. I could smell the food sitting next to us. They should really consider hiring one other person. There is only one server every time I have been there. I am not inclined to go back here. Good, but not quite great. I decided to try a new pho spot in the area, hoping to find my next favorite. Right away, I was impressed by the man at the front--his enthusiasm was contagious. He greeted customers with a smile, took orders, and handled the register seamlessly, all while maintaining a warm and welcoming energy. The pho was well-packaged and fresh, but the quantity of meat was underwhelming compared to other pho restaurants in the area. Additionally, I ordered extra beef balls, but they were missing from my order. The coconut smoothie was creamy and delicious, and the charbroiled pork rice plate was packed with flavor. It included rice, fish/sweet chili sauce, two grilled shrimps, an egg roll, cucumber, lettuce, and tomatoes. I highly recommend this dish, though I wish it came with more shrimp--most places provide four instead of two for at a lower price point. Second time coming to this place. I work in El Dorado hills and drive to one when I can. The menu has all the viet favorites. The difference from a small or large pho is $1 so I get the large. The spring rolls with shrimp and grilled pork are delicious and actually do come out before your entree. Highly recommend the wings as well. The restaurant is located at the end of the Winco parking lot in Folsom near Curry Club. The waiter was friendly enough and seating was ample. The atmosphere is open and there is a bar in the main area if you are looking for that. We ordered two #26 grilled pork vermicelli bowls. Meat was ample portioned along with well cooked vermicelli, lettuce, pickled carrots and daikon, and lots and lots of bean sprouts. All produce was fresh and put together well. Try traditional dressing was also available. The price of $15 was on par worth competitors prices. Service was good. Waiter was friendly. Enough room on the tables allowed for a comfortable dining experience. Tables filled throughout our visit so hopefully business remains strong enough for this restaurant. The dining inside is beautifully done! Looks like a new remodel . The location and the beautiful ambience of this restaurant made me really want to really like the food there. The beef soup Bun Ho Hue, on the other hand, just wasn't to my liking at all. The flavor was on the bland side, I didn't taste any fish sauce, lemongrass, or umami flavors in the dish. Would it be because I arrived at the opening time of the store? In my opinion, the broth needed to be seasoned more. Despite the fact that I added chili oil, fish sauce, and other ingredients, I didn't see a difference in the soup. Service was great ! Fast and friendly , very helpful young lady . We came in for a soup fix to beat this cold weather and right away our expectations were exceeded! We had the whole place to ourselves so service was very fast and food came out in less than 10 minutes. The pho is the better of what I've had in the area and they will definitely be my go-to for bun bo hue as well. They are so generous with the meat and the broth is so rich. Great balance between everything and I love that their menu has a lot to offer while not being overwhelming. The portions are big and priced well! The up charge for changing bowl sizes or adding extra items are all reasonable as well. You pay for what you get! The inside is very spacious and the bar is such a nice touch! The lobby was decorated all cute for the holidays too which adds a nice touch. We will come back and try their taps too. First time trying this place and it did not disappoint. I had the "Bun Ga Nuong", Vermicelli with chicken, and it was good. The flavor was there, the bowl of the portion was perfect for me with the fish sauce left over as well. I usually tried these at many vietnamese restaurants to test the flavor and cook of the chicken with the fish sauce. Out of all the Pho in Folsom, this dish was number one on my list. Definitely recommended and will try the "Bun Bo Hur" next round. Came here for lunch with my wife and started with the Papaya Salad. Not a traditional Thai or Lao papaya salad we are used to but a very refreshing shrimp salad with Vietnamese flavors. To complement this salad are the thinnest slices of fried garlic it's topped with. I wish I took pictures to show my appreciation to the detail. The Grilled Pork Bahn Mi baguette is so crunchy and flakey it inspired me to create this post.. which I don't normally do. Washed it all down with a Vietnamese iced coffee that did not disappoint. Service was pretty bad and slow but I'll be a little more lax because this place is new. Food delivered to tables was very slow and often someone's dish would come several minutes later. Overall I give the service 3/5. Banh mi tacos: I was excited for this fusion take but it was horrible. A sprinkling of marinated pork (which was tasty) but was placed on a cold, tiny corn tortilla with lettuce, tomatoes, 3 slivers of carrot and sour cream? It was not a great dish overall, 2/5 Combination pho: broth was very tasty but could have been hotter. Good amount of meat but the noodles were all broken up and kind of pricey at $16 for a large. I was most disappointed that you get bean sprouts and basil but no lime, jalapeño slices, etc. 3/5 Chicken rice plate: had to get this because they were out of beef and there was a misunderstanding as I really wanted the combo plate that had meat, egg rolls and shrimp but oh well. I didn't want to wait another 30+ minutes for it. Chicken was marinated well, a bit sweet for my tastes but you could taste the lemongrass. Bun Bo Hue - Spicy Beef Noodle Soup 4/5 There was definitely a kick in the broth and it's a good serving size. They were out of shrimp paste, but I think with it, the broth would level up. Grilled beef, shrimp and egg roll rice plate (+$2 egg) 4/5 very basic Vietnamese dish but still very yummy. The beef was very tender. Avocado Smoothie 3/5 - I think there was more ice and condensed milk than avocado. I would come back to try other itemsn if in the area, but not sure I would drive out of my way to come back. Pho is one of my favorite soups. I always try the broth first before putting in the fixings. It was ok. It wasn't the best I've had. It kind of had a weird taste to it. There were very little noodles in the broth, almost less than how many bean sprouts they gave me. The tables were very sticky as well as their chilly oil, hoisin sauce, and Sriracha sauce bottles. When I needed a refill I had to flag the guy down. They did t check in with even once. I don't highly recommend this place and I probably won't come here again. read more

This is strictly based on the dishes we ordered. I never been to a place where Bun Bo Hue was basically Pho Dac Biet with Sate sauce in it. This was not what I expected, it was missing the shrimp paste funkiness, it didn't have much lemon grass flavor, no pork blood or any ham hog or pork meat pieces except for the couple pieces of Cha Hue. I would not recommend this bowl of noodle unless you are wanting spicy pho and it even came with beef meatballs. The second disappointment was the grilled beef with the broken rice dish. Not sure what they did to the broken rice but it was either old rice or way over undercooked, we had to used a steak knife to try to cut into the rice and it was so hard stuck together like a rock. The beef was flavorful. But that was about it. The spring rolls with shrimp and pork was good. I haven't try their pho or any other Thai dishes. This review is strictly for the bowl of bun bo hue, and our other dishes. The bun bo hue and rice dish was definitely missing some key authentic ingredients. The broken rice dish with the bad rice only made it worse. And yes, when I decided to pay with cash the price of the tap changed to cheaper. How crazy. to have different pricing for card and cash. I hope the food gets better and they understand the need for Authenticity in Folsom is a big deal. read more

We did a takeout order and specifically asked if there was extra hoisin sauce in the bag, we were told yes. Upon coming home, we realized there was only two hoisin packets for two large bowls of pho. One packet of lime, mint, bean spouts for once again, two large bowls of pho. The noodles are raw, the soup wasn't hot enough to cook the meat through. My husband had to go to the store and buy what should have been provided by the restaurant. Save your money and go somewhere else where they're not stingy on sauces and toppings. read more

Since my last review, I've tried two more dish from here: Vermicelli noodles and Bun Bo Hue! The vermicelli noodles were amazing. The grilled pork, shrimp, and eggroll one is what I got. Perfect dish for a hot day. Best part was the portion size, it was a generous amount! They really make it your money's worth! As for the Bun Bo Hue, this was my very first time ever trying the dish and I was not disappointed! I have been missing out all my life! I love pho with all my heart, but I think Bun Bo Hue has stolen it. Their broth is always so full of flavor, it's never watered down. They definitely put a lot of love into what they make here. First off, the bar looked great but it wasn't open? That's fine, we weren't there for that anyways. We wanted the viet food. The furnishing also looked great and seemed enjoyable with a bigger crowd. Service was great too when the worker was present but he kept disappearing into the back even though my significant and I were the only customers dining in. I'm not going to blame him too much, maybe they were understaffed because we saw only him coming and going. There were no napkins on the tables and we weren't offered any when the utensils came out but I was able to go up to the front counter and grab some from the front counter when our server disappeared. Now for the food, the only thing I liked was the pho but not enough to come back. The other 2 plates we ordered were a little questionable. We ordered a papaya salad, salt & pepper chicken, and a Pho to share. The pho portion was abit small compared to "Pho abc" in the area but hey, all the authentic Vietnamese food places are back in south sac so we do what we can to find good viet food out here. The papaya salad didn't have a picture on the menu so it was not what I expected when the food came but my significant other liked it so he finished it- It was a sweet fish sauce mixture with shredded papaya, onions, pepper and shrimp. Now, I'm sorry to the owner for this bad review but the worst part of this experience was the salt and pepper chicken wings. There weren't any pictures for this one on the menu either so I figured it must be self explanatory, and I was proven wrong. We expected fried salt and pepper chicken wings but got unseasoned and unbattered stir fried wings with sliced grilled onions and bell peppers. We asked for clarification from the server and he said the cook forgot to season it on the pan with garlic and salt so he would take it back to fix it. We clarified we thought it would be deep fried first..not just stir fried. The chicken wasn't crispy at all. He asked if we wanted the wings well done and fried to fix this issue and we said we'd appreciate that. We even thanked the server for going above and beyond. Unfortunately, it came out battered with pancake flour. I was so confused at this point. Where did the miscommunication happen? The outer layer of the chicken was thick with soft and gooey bread covering the chicken, it tasted like unsweetened pancakes. I had to ask for a refund, you just have to take the L on this one. If anyone goes here, I'd advise that you ask a lot of questions so you know what you're getting before it comes out. Looking at other reviews, we should have stayed with the noodle soup options. Owner, please add more pictures and descriptions to the menu so the guests know what they are getting. It has potential but please be more thorough with your menu. read more

They did not send any of the sauces for the pho. I am very sick right now and called them to specifically ask for more sauce to help me out. Well they dropped it off with absolutely no sauces. I called he said next time they'll add the sauce. I will not go back/order from a restaurant that cannot get the order complete. What will they forget next time? It was early in the day so no lunch crowd, so no reason to forget this. Almost like they just don't care? This is huge because when you order a food item and expect it to be complete and taste the way it should (the reason why you ordered it in the first place), it is a total disappointment and you fell ripped off. A pho is not the same without the sauce. I would like a refund because I did not get a complete pho order. I never eat it without the sauces. And they did not include condiments for the second large pho. Response to Pho N: I am sick right now and the order was incomplete. I don't find your response a good solution or even an attempt at a solution. A surprise another time does not complete my order today, a 60.- order.
