Well - maybe we ordered on an off night. The chicken pho was the blandest pho I have ever tasted. The broth was basically watered down chicken stock and the chicken was a shredded flavorless breast. I was hoping to add some lime slices to add some flavor but none were offered. Everyone at the table said the same - no flavor at all. The spring rolls had positive reviews but that was about it. We won't be racing back to eat here again any time soon. read more

Pho Midway came highly recommended and I am glad that I finally tried it. I came for dinner but heard that the lunch menu is a great value too. Ordered the combination pho with the assortment of meats. The soup has a nice flavor, some might think it's too salty but I'd rather that than bland imo. For the particular piece of tendon I got it was too hard and almost crunchy, but wouldn't dissuade me from ordering it again. Service was solid and they have those guava candies by the register (much much better than mints). And on a side note, it's one of the fancier Vietnamese restaurant interiors I've been in. I think it may have been a seafood place in a previous life lol. They also play some chill elevator music to set the mood. I will definitely be back and recommend it, with the plethora of pho places it's hard to stand out in a crowd but Pho Midway is worth a try. read more

The food is good. If that's all you care about, you can stop reading. This is about to be a fairly nit-picky review, but I feel with the plethora of pho options in the city, I'm allowed to make one. We ordered the Deluxe Pho and the Deluxe Vermicelli, along with an order each of their spring rolls and fried shrimp rolls. The spring rolls were a bit lackluster, and they were only saved by the peanut sauce (which itself was nothing to write home about). The fried shrimp rolls were good, but the shrimp was dry (but not rubbery). My wife loved the fried shrimp rolls, so there's that. The Deluxe Vermicelli was everything I could ask for. But that's about as far as my praise goes. It didn't wow me and I felt like just getting a pork vermicelli for $2 less would have been sufficient. Lots of fresh veggies and bean sprouts helped a little. The Deluxe Pho, however, is where I felt the food fell the worst. I don't know if it was because we ordered takeout, but the broth was too mild for my taste. I dare to say that it was bland. The flavor was great, with the right amount of salt, but it lacked that deep umami that makes a great pho. My wife doesn't add anything to her pho when she eats it (no hoisin or sriracha), so nothing could have saved this experience. The meat and veggies were good and fresh, but none of that can save a mediocre broth. And with this being a pho restaurant, I can't really give this a better review. Not bad food at all. Just disappointing. Might try this place again, as it is so close to our house, but most likely will look elsewhere. read more

Their pho is pretty good and the prices are decent! Sometimes it can get busy and they are understaffed, so have some patience and speak up respectfully if you have an issue. This is a mom and pop shop, not some privileged fine dining establishment, so there is no need to act like a Karen unless someone there deliberately does something absolutely terrible. Try some of their more traditional entrees and if you want a strong, yet sweet coffee to wake you up, then I highly recommend their Vietnamese coffee. read more

A friend got me in the mood for pho and its cold outside so why not? I didnt want to travel far so i googled this place and its less than 2mi from my home. It's also new to the area. Here we go... Pleasantly surprised indeed. The pho was excellent. They are all getting things together inside but its nice enough if you want to sit down and eat there. Tvs to keep You company if you're alone and seating room for plenty if you have a small group. The good was prepared super fast and the staff was friendly. I got my order to go. My husband and I ate here for the first time on Monday. We love Pho and saw the great reviews on this place - so we had to try it. We loved it and it will now be our new favorite. Our go to is the shrimp and pork spring rolls and the pho chicken soup. Both were so yummy. I love that there is a bowl of soup that is perfectly sized, and not huge like I've experienced at most places - don't get me wrong, they do have a large bowl too. Luke waited on us and was a joy to visit with. He acknowledged us as not having been there and made us feel so at home. We loved hearing about and learning his culture. We told him we always order the spring rolls and soup and he said he wanted to surprise us with special vietnamese flair next time we come in. We will definitely let him do that. Pho was on point. We got the chicken pho and the beef pho. Both were good. I finished all my chicken and most of the beef was gone. The lunch portions are huge. Hubby and i visited first time two weeks ago. Had Bonmi sandwich. Loved the richly flavored tender meat with pickled veggies which is the perfect combo, just need more of both on the bread. Also had veggie pho with chicken broth. I could eat this every day! Flavor is great with just the perfect amount of ingredients/veggies that include carrots, broccoli, book Chou, etc.... Returned this week for take out and tried the pork spring rolls. Lots of tender meat, just so delicious. I think the peanut sauce has some soy sauce or something mixed in. Everything was great here. Started with the pork and shrimp spring rolls. They were pretty big, but a little light on the meat... Cheap though at $3.95. peanut sauce was fine. Then I got the #1 'deluxe pho'. Very nice soup. Meat was leaner than most places, which is what I'd prefer. Broth was flavorful without being too salty. This place is a gem. I love Vietnamese food but not very many in Far North Dallas offered authentic and family style dishes. To my surprise, Pho Midway has caramelized fish in clay pot and similar dish with pork belly as well as traditional Vietnamese sour soup with either fish or shrimp. It was a dream come true and not having to drive all the way to Garland. Love this place and can't wait to go back. read more

Bad yelp I decided to go this evening I order a seafood pho. Pho hai san to go I purposely waited until i paid before I asked for extra bean sprouts. Unlike previous posting. The waitstaff said not a issue. It was ready to go in 4 min 15 secs. And super hot still when i got home There was enough for two complete meals. So i will return, but not soon for the Bein bo hue. I think the owner is from the south of the country. Maybe the delta area I did 3 tours up north (now central Vietnam) where I learned about Bein Bo Hue. It is a little spicy as is but i like to kick it up with chile paste I guess i should complain about my Pho. Maybe the owner would comp me another. But, can't do that You know food is authentic when i walked into an empty restaurant but before i left there were 3 couples. All Vietnamese. Used to love Pho Midway, unfortunately they have been bought and run by new management. Their menu has changed and they no longer have lunch specials. I ordered take out Pho with a few apps and a sandwich. First the pho, the broth was quite tasty and it doesn't appear the recipe for the broth was changed. However, the amount of meat that was appalling. Less than 3 oz of meat was in the box (see picture). The other pho also was very light on the meat. The rangoons were tasty but also made to fit a price point and very small. The pork sandwich quality has also gone down quite significantly, the meat was dry and lacked seasoning/flavor. The bread wasn't very fresh. Overall, I'm really sad that the quality has gone down so fast under new management. 2 stars as the food is edible but not high quality. read more

This used to be my go to Viet place in Carrollton. I'm not sure what happened .. the quality of the food went down serving overly burnt chicken and rice . I once got a viet coffee here and it tasted like chocolate syrup ... is that supposed to be for an American audience ? That marketing strategy is horrible. The staff and owner have been so kind; we love the family-owned restaurant feel. We honestly order takeout every Sunday and they never disappoint. Under new ownership. Orders are slow, incomplete, and not as good. Our favorite waiter is no longer there. Specials listed on their website are magically rescheduled for another day, and then when you show up on that day, they also don't exist then either. I used to come here once a month and take family here for their kind service and deliciously, seasoned grilled meats. Unfortunately, they are now under a new owner, prices have slightly gone up and the quality is not what it was. Service is still great... but the meat isn't as fresh as before. The banh mi still has a nice french roll, but the luke-warm meat has changed, and resembles that of beef jerky instead of the big-grilled chunks it was before, as seen in other pictures reviewed. It also lacks daikon and is pretty much just bread with a lot of sweet chili sauce. I hate to say it, but I will not be returning. I guess all good things do come to an end, and like other reviews I now see, I am not the only one to be moving back to Richardson/Garland for my Vietnamese needs. read more

Update 11/1/2019: Sad. This used to be my go to spot for Pho. But, the restaurant has changed hands and is under new ownership. Although the service is now more efficient, the Pho has none of the nuance that made it so good before. Either the old owner did not pass along his secrets or the new ownership simply can not execute it in the same manner. The prices are higher too. I ordered extra brisket, per my usual, and all I got was a sad smattering of about 6 pieces of different kinds of beef in a cloudy bowl of broth with a gluey ball of noodles. Now its just another bowl of unremarkable Pho. See my prior review. I really hope the old owner can find another spot to serve his food to the public again. His broth and loving attention to every detail in the bowl was truly an experience. I forget his name and do not know where he is. I pray he is doing well. read more
