It's been a good run at this local staple. Pho Metro is one of the more well-known pho spot in Vaughan with tasty flavors, fast service and large portions. Ever since I discovered the spicy Curry Brisket Pho ($20.95), it has always been my go-to dish here all year-round. As creamy and thick as the broth appears, the intense Thai coconut curry flavours are perfect to slurp down in this modern fusion dish. We always order Pho Nam (XL $21.50) as well and both come loaded with a heaping portion of brisket slices in the piping hot noodle soup. From time-to-time, we also add the Banh Xeo savoury egg pancake which arrives on a huge plate even larger than the noodle bowls. Presented with a heap of greens & herbs, the crispy golden crepe is light and filled with bits of shrimp, pork, onions & bean sprouts. This is wrapped with the lettuce leaf for crunchy and refreshing bites. The menu prices have slowly but steadily increased over the past couple of years. There is still cash discount available. Not much has changed with the decor over the years in this spacious but dated restaurant interior. Service is always kind, fast and kid-friendly which is nice for young families. Skip it or hit it? I admit we don't visit as often as we used to all factors considered but boy that Curry Brisket Pho is something I crave. read more

The storefront is very ordinary, just sitting by the side of the road. We came for weekend lunch, and it was pretty busy during lunchtime. Shrimp and Pork Rice Paper Rolls - The shrimp, pork, and lettuce were wrapped on the very outside, but the inside was just fully stuffed with rice noodles. I had to take out most of the noodles, otherwise I would have been too full. Chicken Wings - Just those standard, regular friend chicken wings. By the way I didn't see any sticky rice that was mentioned on the menu? House Special Noodle Soup - Meat lovers' choice. I'm not a big fan of pho (always feel like there's too much MSG in it), so I can't really give a fair review on this one. Service was good. A good pho place and we enjoyed there. We ordered the (S1) Bánh hỏi đặc biệt - House Special Wrap (rice vermicelli w/ grilled chicken & pork, sausage, shrimp sugarcane, veggie and rice paper). Lots of authentic Viet food and pretty tasty. On the other hand, we ordered the (H9) Bun Rieu and it wasn't that impressive. Nothing really wrong about it. It's just not as good as those pho restaurant in Scarborough. The broth wasn't that rich, the crab pork meat wasn't was flavorful, and the presentation wasn't that great. Metro regular here!! Still my #1 standard and favourite for a staple pho. A clean establishment, good service and a cozy decor, nothing to complain about in that aspect. On each table, they provide Sriracha, Hoisin, utensils, napkins and chillies. I only wish they had pickled garlic, but you can't have everything! I was very sad to see that the price went up recently . But still, can never complain about the food per dollar. Plenty of meat, more than enough vegetables (red/white onions, spring onions, bean sprouts, etc), and the vermicelli platter comes loaded! I went to the Scarborough location years ago and remember really liking it. The Vaughan location is pretty good as well. We came on a weekday around 3pm and there were lots of empty tables. I got the bun rieu and house special pho. It's not the best I have had but it was good. The broth was flavourful, and the noodle texture was perfect. I was in the Vaughan area and a friend recommended going to Pho Metro. Decided to go on a Thursday night and fortunately there was no wait to get a table. There is plenty of seating and the workers are very attentive in checking on you and re-filling the tea as needed. I ordered the a P1 medium (House special noodle soup (rare beef, brisket, beef balls, tripe) and A1 (Deep fried shrimp and pork spring rolls). The pho was very delicious (the broth was very clear) and had good portions of the meat. The spring rolls were not bad, I would have enjoyed them more if they were warmer but it was very crunchy. It's located in a corner of a one floor building with other offices - kinda hidden. Three tall plants greet you at the entrance with high ceilings. The colour of the wall could be changed and there isn't much decor. I felt like the tables were too close to each other. No plexiglass to separate anything. The service was a bit slower than other pho places we go to. My partner had the curry beef brisket which the soup base was drinkable and had a nice kick to it. Minus one star for having hardly any veggies in that dish. My beef noodle soup came with potatoes which was a surprise to me. The starch from it and too much noodles made the soup base thick and I didn't like that. Also, it wasn't spicy at all. The carrot pieces were nice. The washroom was small, but clean. Came to Pho Metro with a party of 9 around 11:30am on a Monday, we were checked for photo ID and proof of vaccination, although the tables were placed closer together than 6 feet. We were seated immediately, menus and pots of tea came quickly. The pho dac biet was very good, taste was spot on, noodles were perfect, meat was perfectly served. My family ate here 3 times in the last 2 weeks, including today, the first day of 2022. All the food is good here! Here are some dishes we've tried: A1 - Deep fried shrimp and pork spring rolls (small, 2 rolls) - flavours are good and nice crunch on the outside. P2 - Vermicelli with grilled pork and fried spring roll - A little too fatty on the grilled pork for my liking and love how thinly sliced it was. P1 - House special noodle soup (rare beef, brisket, beef balls, tripe) (medium) - flavour is really good but just a little heavy on the salt. B3a Vermicelli with grilled chicken and fried spring roll - my peanut allergic daughter ate this and liked it. (We were told the restaurant is peanut free but we are always worried about the sauces so we don't give that to her). Chicken was delicious and noodles cooked just right. A7 - Chicken Wings - yummy and crunchy on the outside. C2 - Rice with grilled pork chop - my classic to-go dish, good portion and good flavours. Ate here once and service and atmosphere are okay. It was pretty busy on a Sunday at 7pm considering their location and placement in the plaza. This place will honour 10% off if you pay by cash. Attentive service and efficient. Trying out a new pho place means I'd have to go for their pho first, although I was really craving bun bo hue. Let's just say that the broth exceeded my expectations and the meat portions were really generous. Generous meaning that when normally I'd be left with noodles, this time I still had layers of rare beef left. The food came out pretty fast after submitting our order. Minor details which lost a star included: the spring rolls (which were weak and underwhelming) and the forgotten order of the avocado milkshake (which was made with a lot of condensed milk). read more

2020-02-23 Pho Metro. Vaughan, ON. This is actually a review based on an older visit. Please not the date above. Pho Metro is located in a plaza east of Vaughan Mills mall. The restaurant is visible from Rutherford Rd, but the entrance to the plaza is actually off of one of the adjacent streets Rotational Drive, or Tesma Way. Parking is limited, but there's not much else in this plaza at the moment, so there's no issue in finding a spot. The decor is your stereotypical Pho joint. Metal cushioned chairs with wooden tables on a tiled floor. Colors are neutral, and the lighting is the more modern pot lights rather than old school fluorescence. Each table is supplied with utensils (chopsticks, soup spoons, and sauce dishes), a napkin dispenser, and condiments (sriracha hot sauce, hoisin sauce, chili peppers, salt, and pepper). The menu is pretty much your standard fare. An expansive selection of Pho, Hu Tieu, Com, Bun, Appetizers, Banh Hoi (wraps), Shakes, Coffees, and Desserts. What's different from most places is that they also serve Bubble Tea and Pad Thai. What's missing are the family dinners, specialties, multi course meals (wraps). I've been here quite a few times now, and the food is pretty consistent. As I've tried quite a few of the dishes here, I'll be using my dim sum rating scale for a quick run down: 5 stars: Woohoo! Sinh To Mit (Jackfruit Smoothie). 1 star: Stay away! Nothing so far To summarize the major types of dishes: Pho. This is all about the broth, and here it's very decent. The flavours are well balanced, and you can get some fat if you ask for it (I suggest you ask for it, it brings your pho to a whole new level). 3,5 stars. The ratio of toppings to noodles to soup is better than most places bringing my overall rating up to 4 stars. Com. This is all about the proteins. Unfortunately here, they on the thin side and while they're busy on the grille getting that nice beautiful char, they dried out too much. 2 stars. Banh Hoi (make your own rice wraps). Excellent dish. The meat was grilled, but it's sliced meat vs a chop. You get the nice grille flavor without requiring any char and the meat is still moist. Dish could use more rice noodles, but otherwise excellent. 4 stars. Bun. Since this dish is without broth, it becomes all about the fish sauce, which is very personal. I like mine with a hint of sweetness, but most people like it more sweet. But everyone will agree that a good fish sauce is one that doesn't smell or taste too fishy, and isn't too salty. Fish sauce is like a fine wine, and they make a pretty good batch of it here. 4 stars. Hu Tieu & Mi. These are kind of specialty dishes, and they work opposite the Pho. Pho is about the soup and you customize your toppings. Hu Tieu & Mi are different kinds of noodles and they provide it with various soup broths. Since the broths are really the star of the show with these dishes, you can't classify them generally. See the dishes that begin with an H above for ratings and any notes. Sinh To. For smoothies, it's all about the fresh fruits, and the ratio of ice used. Sadly, there was too much of that latter here. 2 stars. Overall so far, a solid 3,5 stars performance from Metro Pho. But no restaurant with such an expansive menu can perfect every dish to everyone's liking (just not possible based on personal preferences in taste). For me, there are plenty of 4 star dishes to fill my cravings, so I'm rounding Pho Metro up, not down. 4 stars overall. On my list of things to try at Pho Metro are Bun Bo Hue (H4), Bun Rieu (H9), and Ca Ri De (H11). From the Pho side, Pho Ve Don (P6). The only thing I wish they have more of in their Pho lineup is the thinly sliced Fatty Beef Brisket, or the slightly fatty beef as some restaurants call it. I honestly highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for authentic Vietnamese food! As this is located in a new plaza, Google Maps might not know where to tell you exactly but you can't miss it! The restaurant is very spacious and have lots of tables which is nice. We came on Sat around lunch, and right away the workers greeted us and gave us a seat. Their menu offers a good selection of Pho, rice appetizers etc so there's something for everyone. After ordering, the food came in less than 10 minutes. The portions were pretty good for the price you pay (which isn't expensive), and I love how everything tasted. I really liked how the pork rice roll was stuffed, and had good chunks of meat inside it. A simple dish that just needs a bit of the sweet sauce that accompanies it. We ordered an XL beef brisket pho, and I absolutely loved the broth; wasn't too salty. The noodles were soft, but not so soft to the point it tastes mushy. The beef was very soft as beef brisket should be, and there was a good portion of meat. Overall very satisfied with the food. Its Sunday night on a long weekend - Im at home relaxing and watching something on Netflix but then it happens....my other half gets hungry and theres nothing in the fridge! I can just hear the snarky remarks now...."why didnt you do the groceries?"...."what are we going to eat?....When my other half gets h'angry - it aint pretty....But thankfully, I found Pho Metro from Yelp and noticed that it was actually recently opened to boot - Could this save my bacon from the wrath of the h'anger? It definitely did! This place opened up in the last 3 weeks or so, and I honestly didnt have high hopes. In my humble opinon I can count the number of decent Vietnamese places in the York region area on one hand, so I thought this was going to be another one of "those". This place is located right on the corner of Tesma way. If you are driving west bound on Rutherford, just look for it right on the corner to your left. If your coming from the east, you should turn right at Rotational drive. Currently there is literally nothing else open in this plaza, so theres plenty of parking and you cant get loss. To my surprised this place was jam packed on a Sunday night of civic long weekend. When we entered we were pleasantly greeted and to my other halfs delight, there was quite a few Vietnamese clients and workers. Always a good sign when people are eating at one of their own places. We were served cold tea, which was appreciated given it was a hot summer day, and we ended up getting Bun bo hue, Bun rieu and Banh xeo. The bun bo hue, though quite good lacked the spicy satay intensity - Though this dish is not traditionally meant to be spicy, it does usually come with some satay flavour which this dish was lacking just a smidge. The bun rieu was filled with vermicelli and was very filling. Also usually bun rieu would come with a crab cake in the form of a flat slice, though this place made it in a meat ball form. This was a pleasant change, as usually the patty would break apart anyways. Since this was in a meat ball form, it allowed it to keep its shape and provide a very satisfying punch of flavour when biting into it. The banh xeo was quite excellent quite surprisingly. The pancake came out, and it was very large with a lot of fresh veggies. The pancake did not seem oily or greasy and was very very crispy on the outside. When wrapping it in the lettuce or what I think is red perilla leaf it had a nice range of texture. The veggies provided the freshness and the aromatics, while the pancake itself helped to add a nice crunch to every bite. It was actually a very nice and refreshing dish. I believe the veggies was a mixture of lettuce, perilla leaf as well as mint. All in all, we would definitely order this again. Be warned though, banh xeo is not meant to be eaten nicely with a knife and fork. Its a finger food, and can get quite messy while eating so you may not want to order this on your first date here. Over all we thourghly enjoyed our meal, service was spot on, friendly and fast. The decor was plain and simple, and what will keep us coming back again is the food itself. Pho Metro is a recent addition to the many Vietnamese restaurants in the Vaughan area. It's located in a new outdoor commercial area called Tesma Park. There aren't many businesses in the area, so there is tons of outdoor parking. The interior is quite clean and open. There are many tables for 4, 6, and even 8. The owners and wait staff are super nice and welcoming as well. The menu is quite extensive, but offers many of the same types of dishes as other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. I've been here a few times now and have tried a few of the dishes. I really enjoy the hu tieu noodle soup with rice noodles. I've tried the clear noodles as well, but prefer the rice noodles. The broth is quite flavorful with bits of chopped garlic. The vegetables and aromatics are fresh. I also tried the grilled chicken with rice and fried egg. The grilled chicken is quite flavorful and spicy compared to the ones I've had at other restaurants, but I don't mind the heat. The egg and the rice are cooked well. I also tried the make-your-own summer rolls with grilled beef. The beef is well-seasoned. I thought it was odd to have the vermicelli clumped together, though. But all of the ingredients went well together, along with the dipping sauce and optional ground peanuts. The price is a bit higher than other Vietnamese restaurants in the area, even with the 10% off during the grand opening week. However, the food is good. read more

Reason for Visit: Had an urge to get some pho since it is freezing outside. Menu: Got bored of the traditional beef broth house special noodles I usually get. Decided to end off the year strong with a satay beef noodles and some spring rolls. Their spring rolls are so crispy and crunchy it is just heavenly. Absolutely delightful. I would say the only thing is their rolls are smaller than other Viet places I had been to, but it's still delightful. The satay beef noodles is actually a bit spicy. I am not sure if they used actual Satay broth as it looks a bit different than the usual ones I get. Maybe the other ones were just not as legit. Anyhow, this tasted amazing anyways. The noodles were done perfectly and really soaked in the flavor of the rich broth. Service: I suspect this is a family business. I love how everyone does something and it is ran very efficiently. There was a mom and her maybe 8 year old daughter helping out as cashier. It was very impressive seeing the 8 year old help give the change back to the customers! Atmosphere: There are several tables, but it fills up fast. Expect to line up around 10-15 minutes at rush hour. Lots of parking though. Overall: This is surprisingly good. Awesome pho place that is family operated. Same deliciousness as the pho metro on lawrence (owner's are related by family)! So happy there is now a location in Vaughan. I absolutely love their rice plates (get the special if you're really hungry). I found the plate massive! The meats had some awesome grill flavour. I am also a fan of their Bun Bo Hue. So flavourful and has some spice! It came out piping hot from the kitchen which I love...you know it's hot when you see the bowl steaming. Service was very courteous. They also sell wrapped rice dumplings at the cashier last time I was here (super delicious when you fry them as slices on the stove). The portions are well-sized at a reasonable price. Oh how I missed you! My hubby and I used to frequent a different Pho Metro location, but since we're never really out that way anymore we just stopped going there and found a few local Pho spots to pacify our taste buds. I saw that this location has been up and running for a while and I kept meaning to try it, but never got around to it. So a few days ago, we went to dine-in and order our usual. We placed an order for shrimp rice paper rolls, vermicelli with grilled chicken, beef and spring roll and rice with grilled chicken, pork chop, and fried egg. The servers were quick, polite and attentive. The place was average. No big bells and whistles when it comes to decor, but who needs that as long as it is sanitary, clean and has good quality food. Once we took our first bite of the food, we both realized just how much we missed this place. The simplicity of presentation mixed with the balance of flavors along with it being served hot and fresh, just made for an incredibly scrumptious and truly satisfying dinner. My hubby's one tiny issue was that he wished the sauce that came with the shrimp rolls had more of a thicker consistency and richer taste. Prices were fair especially for the quality and portion size. They even give you a 10% discount if you pay by cash. Needless to say, we will definitely be back for more! read more

I placed an order for pick up: 1 small deep fried spring rolls, pork chop and steamed rice, large pho special, and chicken pad thai. The lady over the phone said it will be ready in 15 minutes for pick up. Upon arrival, they had hand sanitizer ready at the front prior to entry. I also noticed there were different tables located around the restaurant for order pick ups (phone orders, Uber Eats, and Skip the dishes). I found that to be super organized. However, after showing up 20 minutes later, our food was still not ready. No problem - my nephews and I stood to the side and waited. The sweet lady at the front kept apologizing, and I reminded her that it's no problem since I'm sure it was the busy lunch hour for them, and offered to pay while we waited. It took about another 10-15 minutes maybe since the time we arrived until we received our food. The pho was really tasty - good broth, lots of noodles and meat. No complaints on this one. My nephew usually likes the grilled pork chops and rice from pho restaurants, but complained that he didn't like the spice from Pho Metro. The spring rolls were a lot more slim compared to other pho places, but were still good. Lastly, the chicken pad thai was okay. I'm used to the tamarind tasting pad thai, but this restaurant throws in basil into the noodles. It completely threw me off since I wasn't expecting the strong basil taste in my pad thai. I probably won't order this again in the future and just stick to the pho or try the vermicelli dishes. Overall, we enjoyed ordering from here. I also came here before with my boyfriend during their soft opening and we were impressed at the time with their pho (I think he got the curry goat soup at the time), which led me back to this place when I was babysitting today since my nephews wanted Vietnamese and it was on the way home. read more

They gave me only four shrimps and whole bunch of chopped onions and vegetables water rip off the waiters were very rude, he didn't want to help me place a right order. New Vaughn location of the popular Scarborough pho joint. Grand opening on Jul 13 so in the time being, 10% off your bill. Doors were open early for a hearty bowl of pho. Broth is super hot, flavourful, and lots of meat. I ordered a small bowl, and there were more meat slices than pho noodles. It's situated in an business / industrial plaza, just minutes east of Vaughn Mills. 4.5 stars. I like this location even more than the Yonge/Lawrence one. Clean, bright, quick and friendly service. We ordered a large pho, vermicelli and spring rolls. Everything arrived quickly and very fresh. The vermicelli serving was delicious and the largest that I have ever had. I think we have a new pho go to place, close to home! read more
