We got 2 combos- the vermicelli bowl with spring rolls & fresh chicken pho- opted for the spring roll app & Thai green milk tea plus a pork chop rice with spring rolls to-go. All the food was actually pretty good tho it was kind of pricey & portions were albeit small. The pork & shrimp spring rolls were crispy & tasty, pho broth was flavorful, chicken was tender & pork chop was well-seasoned. I really enjoyed the vermicelli salad bowl & milk tea. Not to mention, friendly staff, quick service & a sink to wash your hands. What a pleasant surprise- we'll be back!

Flushing has so many tea places so I'm glad there's a Viet coffee place in the area! The place has…read morenice decorations and some spots to sit. The menu offers coffee and tea options. We ordered: - coconut frappe: the coffee and coconut have to be mixed to taste better. It was a slushy but had good coffee flavor and not too sweet. It's a great option to try the coffee but if you don't want to too strong, very enjoyable. - egg cream coffee: the egg cream was really good and the coffee was milky but strong. Really good option to try if you enjoy viet coffee with a sweet cream top. The egg cream tastes more unique than other places I've tried. The amount of cream top is generous. The only downside was that it was too much ice and the staff said there was no option to customize. Not pictured but we went back another time to try the black sesame cream and it was soo good, def my fave from the drinks I've tried here. The black sesame was thick and had a strong nutty sesame flavor! Would def recommend trying this place if you're craving some viet coffee (or tea) with unique flavors!

Just okay. Finally tried Vietnamese egg coffee…read more They're very generous with the egg/condensed milk custard-like cream top. The drinks are big in size what makes it comparable to the price ($7.99). But I don't think the coffee is robust or strong enough. I got 50% sweet (condensed milk) & I'm assuming this sweetness is for the egg cream? It "wasn't too sweet" (a plus!) but then overall none of the flavors were that interesting after the first sip. The coffee at the bottom of the cup tasted unsweetened & slightly strong, but it didn't seem to have that intense drip-style-French-chicory-roast flavor. My drink was made pretty fast (1-2min), so I'm assuming that it's made with espresso shots or maybe cold brew? I used the straw and tried to sip a bit of each of the layers, but the egg foam overpowers the coffee. It's definitely a more creamy/milky/dessert type of drink. The traditional serving for this drink is in tiny glass cups & I'm wondering if an American-size to-go version (with ice) is a difficult translation. Maybe I'll try it again with less ice and 100% sweet. The café is just a block away from the busy Prince St. area & more of a to-go design. It's a narrow entryway, small counter, and ordering kiosks. There's a Tiny section up front with 3-4 seats & a few high stools along the "entryway," but groups wouldn't work well in the space. They did a really good job with the interior design, trying to make it look cozy & lounge / "den-like," but the layout is too narrow for a long stay fyi.

You also get the option of "4 sauces" with your order, which you can get on your sandwich or on the side (for free!) I love extra sauce, so this option is really great. I ended up opting for their spicy mayo which tasted good with the bulgolgi. The meat, bread and everything was 5/5. The banh mi is filling, satisfying and definitely more than enough for a hearty lunch. This was my first time trying the Flushing location, and was very pleasantly surprised!

We walked…read moreinto a straightforward, no frills space where the menu centers on banh mi with some rice bowls and drinks rounding things out. The portions are generous enough that a single sandwich can genuinely feel like more than one meal's worth of food. The banh mi is the main reason to come, and the pork versions are where the kitchen shines most. We ordered the caramel pork, which is worth it. The meat is cut down into small pieces that pick up flavor throughout and create a layered bite alongside the pickled vegetables. The tofu banh mi holds up well as a vegetarian option and carries a gingery, carrot forward flavor that works. The bread leans toward a softer, thicker cut rather than the thin, crackling crust of a more traditional Vietnamese version, but it still holds the fillings well without getting soggy. Service is fast and the overall experience is quick. The staff moves efficiently and our order came out in good time, which makes it a reliable option for a workday lunch when you do not have much time to spare. The banh mi travels well if you are taking it to go, and the packaging keeps everything intact. It is a good spot for a filling, well priced lunch that does not require much planning beyond showing up. We would come back for the caramel pork banh mi and appreciate that we can be in and out without sacrificing quality or portion size. For a quick, satisfying Vietnamese sandwich in the area, JoJu delivers exactly what it promises.

Finally, in a sea of bubble tea, I have my preferred drink option: limeade. I'm just more of a sour…read moreacidic refresher type of guy, so whenever my gf is in the mood for bubble tea, I'm left stranded with something thicker than what I'm in the mood for-- but not anymore! I made it a point to have their Crispy Pork Banh Mi before writing a review and while I thought I'd fall in love with it, it's good but not my taste. I was imagining more of a batter fried pork strips situation, a more westernized method of frying meats, but it was the style of pork chunks that's hyper crispy and puffy at the top and layered with gelatinous fat. It was tasty for what it was and not greasy, just not my cup of tea. It's a particular style of pork-- I'd google "heo quay" if you wanna see what I'm talking about. Also I've noticed it's popular with Hispanic males-- I think it has to do with the gristly fat texture. I guess we share that cultural preference. Yay world. I did however fall head over heels for their classic Banh mi. Heavy on the pate which I love, and a fluffy crispy bread, with the right meat-to-bread ratio. My gf took a bite not expecting much and her expression was pure surprise and delight. It's her favorite place to get a Banh mi for the bread now and I'd have to agree. It's a very reliable representation of what makes a Banh mi stand out from other sandwiches. And then there's the vempanadas. It's short for "Viet empanadas" and arguably what made them blow up. My mom made a lot of these growing up and my mom is regarded as the best cook out of like 8 kids and their children, so I like to think I have experience in this matter, and it's tastier than my mom's. To be fair, it's made fairly differently-- my mom makes it with a flakey filo-doughy crust and TBD has a softer more pliable dough-- think corn tortilla vs flour tortilla. I personally like flour tortillas more and you can fight me on that one. The filling is also more savory and rich than my mother's and the little quail egg inside is such welcomed treat. My mom's fillings are more meatball like and TBD's is pastier. Fun fact: this dish has origins tying it to France; the original dish is pate-chaud. If you google that too, you can see the evidence of a flakey texture. I will say, the first time I had it was more flavorful and I think the egg was missing the second time. And lastly I want to talk about the thing keeps me crawling back-- the ches (pudding soup). I've always had a disinterest in Vietnamese che growing up because my western palate always demanded MORE SUGAR but as I age, my tastes demand more subtlety. Che is a general term for a kind of dessert soup, with some sort of ingredient like a bean or jello as the focus and a sweetened liquid; I know "soup" is a bit of a turn off but it's really the closest English term we have. Think more like milk in cereal or melted ice cream. Is there a term for the milk in cereal? Anywho, the che ba mau is the most popular and beginner friendly, it's a mix of 3 sweet ingredients like mung bean, red bean, Pandan jelly in like coconut milk. If you're Filipino, it's the Vietnamese equivalent to Halo Halo. But what's cool about TBD is they have different kinds of lesser known ones I'm currently having fun exploring. There's a mung bean one with a thicker sweet cream on top-- reminds me pie filling. And right now I'm about to dig into a Pandan jelly, grass jelly, in coconut milk, peanuts, and shaved ice. It's a fun ass summer drink dessert. I highly recommend if you're looking for something different and refreshing this summer.

We specifically asked for the bean sprouts to be cooked, yet they came back completely removed. We also had to repeatedly ask for basic necessities--including the menu, forks, knives, and chopsticks. These are basic service standards that should not require repeated requests. We also felt rushed to order and pay, and our dishes were cleared while we were still eating, leaving us feeling more like we were being pushed out than welcomed as guests. For us, the food did not deliver the depth and authenticity we expect from Vietnamese cuisine, and the quality was inconsistent. The flavors felt noticeably toned down, particularly the fish sauce, which lacked the deep, fermented character we were expecting. The bún bò Huế was decent, but the grilled pork chop with rice and fried egg was dry, tough, and poorly cooked. Overall, the food did not leave a strong impression. An 18% gratuity/service charge was included on our bill, and we did not leave an additional tip based on our experience. We would have appreciated clearer communication about this charge before ordering, particularly because it is a significant mandatory addition to the bill. What also bothered us was the communication with staff. At times, it felt like the waitstaff and female owner were having difficulty communicating with us in English. When we switched to Mandarin to make things easier, the response felt noticeably colder and less welcoming. Language should never become a reason for customers to feel uncomfortable or receive an attitude. For authentic Vietnamese food and genuinely attentive service, we'd recommend looking other options.
