I came by during their soft opening, during which there is 10% discount offered (cash or debit). I came by with a couple friends right at 11 am opening, scared of a wait. Luckily we were seated right away and the restaurant didn't start filling in until a bit later. I got a Pho Dac Biet (large, thin noodles) along with a Thai Iced Tea. While the menu is relatively small (noodles, some apps, drinks), I did appreciate how it was clear on which dishes to note, such as recommended ones, or ones that were spicy or contained peanuts. We were given the side condiments including sprouts, lime and basil, with the pho coming soon after. The Pho Dac Biet had brisket, tendon, and beef balls. I always start off a bowl of pho with the broth -which I thought was light (did not leave me reaching for water) but that was about it. Compared to some other spots I thought it could use that rich beef and bone flavour. I understand this spot is recognized in Vietnam on the Michelin Guide so perhaps I was expecting a similar caliber experience, which I sadly did not. With the prices pretty much in line there is nothing that truly draws me here compared to other spots nearby. The service was good and we were checked on a few times to make sure everything was ok. Pho Le, established in 1970, in Ho Chi Minh City, received the "Bib Gourmond" recognition in the 2023 Michelin Guide, and opened its first North American location in Richmond Hill on December 20th. As part of their soft opening promotion, you get 10% off your entire order until January 11, 2024. Note that they currently only accept CASH OR DEBIT, and you need to go up to the counter to pay when you're done your meal. The restaurant was new, clean, and had a warm, casual abmiance. The service was average, and the food was decently priced. They also offer a noodle soup and a small appetizer combo if you want to try two things. Overall, the meal was enjoyable, though not perfect. I ordered the Pho with Rare Beef and Brisket, with a Mashed Lemon Iced Tea. The broth of the pho was quite mild and had a light beef flavor, which I think they tried to make up for by adding a lot of black pepper. The rare beef was good, but I felt the quality of the brisket could have been better, and the noodles were a bit overcooked, and not as chewy as I would have liked. Attended soft opening, with all the hype surrounding their eventual opening I was a little skeptical but you know what; the hype is real. Mostly young staff, the male staff handling our order was pleasant and helpful, answered our questions on specific menu items. A few of the menu drink choices and appetizers were not available, not surprised due to the soft opening. I really wanted to try one of the traditional Vietnamese sweet drinks but I guess the required ingredients didn't arrive in time. Came here on a Thursday evening around 7pm and the wait was about 40 minutes for two people. It's decently sized with quite a few tables that seat four people. Service was good. We got attended to quickly for our order and when we needed something. The menu doesn't have too many items, which is great if you have a hard time deciding what to get. We got the pho special and the original laksa. The special pho was good. The broth was tasty and the beef was tender and fresh and not chewy. The laksa had good flavour with lots of fish balls in it. We paid extra for large sizes and it was good for us. We also got the fried wontons which were our favourite. Soooo crispy and yummy! For a "Michelin" recommended restaurant, the experience and food here were a bit underwhelming. It wasn't bad by any means, but I expected more. On the positive side, the pho has a very clean-tasting broth, and the meat is fresh and of good quality. The other dishes, such as the vermicelli and the papaya salad, were also good but, in my opinion, weren't outstanding or special. The restaurant interior is clean and welcoming. Service was bad - we had to ask multiple times for the bill, tea was never refilled, and they constantly forgot to bring bowls despite numerous requests. Another new pho place. This one is near Hwy 7 and Chalmers Road, and because it's still fairly new the lineups, especially on the weekends, can be lengthly. Menu is limited to pho only but you can get a laksa or Tom yum soup base which is something I don't see in some of the other pho places I have frequented. Sizes are small (regular) or large. There is also the option of a 'combo' where you can add a small appetizer to your bowl of pho. Example of small appetizer is 1 spring roll or 1 fried chicken wing. Quality of the broth is very good. Clean clear flavours. The Tom Yum broth might be better with the seafood (comes with seafood or beef) as the beef and noodles made the broth thicker. The flavour also had a strong tomato base. Surprisingly not too heavy with MSG, as I'm the type where I usually need a soda to cut through the MSG attack and get sleepy after the meal right after. The bean sprouts that came with it were average, not the most fresh, but ok, mint were a bit rotten. All parts of the beef can be more tender; tendon, brisket, ... but not bad. I went off hours 4pm late lunch so it wasn't busy and the waiter was nice & friendly. They have a decent chilli oil/ paste on the table that is solid spicy vs Sriracha meh level spice. hoisin sauce also on the table for those who like that combo. Thai iced tea is not the traditional super sugary which I enjoyed! I miss traditional spring roll, this one has the canto spring wrapper not the rice flour wrapper. The restaurant has a good amount of seating, however, best with groups of 4 or less (they can accomodate bigger groups but seating will be limited). In terms of the food, its not bad! I saw a Tik Tok that mentioned this is a chain from Ho chi Minh City that is Michelin recommended and I had to try it! In fact I ordered almost everything from the video. Lol! The server was very friendly and kind, so he was excellent and we were very lucky to have gotten the last two tables before the lineup started. I ordered the combo so I chose a bowl of pho and fried spring rolls as my side. We ordered chicken wings to start. The broth itself was very flavourful - tasted clean, chicken wings were huge jampacked with flavour. The spring rolls were petite yet was able to fill me up. Loved this place! Had the pho with rare beef and brisket and the broth was just so flavorful and piping hot. The meat was awesome and the noodles had a great texture. The place was packed but we waited about 15min on the list to get a table for lunch so not bad at all. We also had the chicken wings and there were crispy and full of umami. Be ready to wait as we came on Saturday around 5:50pm, and had to wait for approximately an hour. Pho Le is a new cozy Vietnamese restaurant that recently opened up, and with the intense amount of people willing to wait, I know this spot had to be good! Their menu features mainly selections of Pho, Laksha, Tom Yum noodle soup, and some drinks - sometimes less food choices is better I wanted to try their laksha, but unfortunately it was sold out by the time we got to sit down. The servers tell us usually the laksha is done around 8-9pm, but because weekends are so busy, they ran out at 7pm. Also, you can select the noodle you want for your bowl. After placing our order, the food took a bit of time to arrive, but it was worth the wait. The Pho Tai Nam had generous amounts of rare beef and brisket, and the soup was very tasty - I couldn't stop slurping! The Tom Yum soup was still tasty, but in comparison to the pho, it was more lackluster. Upon arrival at 8pm on a weekday, parking was a little challenging to find as there are many popular restaurants in the same plaza. We found parking at the back of the building, and there's also underground parking available. The restaurant is clean and welcoming. Staff are quick to greet you and bring tea. We had heard about their summer menu and wanted to order the soft shell crab bun bo hue but they had sold out already. Instead, we ordered a beef with bone pho noodle soup, grilled chicken and pork vermicelli, and regular crab bun bo hue. The era of the fancier Vietnamese restaurants is upon us. The Vietnamese restaurant scene in Toronto (GTA) is clearly moving away from the no frills, white-walls and florescent light and super affordable meal model to the fancier, finer, cleaner and nicer dining area and more pricey model. Pho Le, a Michelin recommended (Bib Gourmand) pho restaurant in Vietnam is further ushering this trend along. Pho Le is currently in its soft opening phase offering a 10% discount (until Jan 11) and a limited menu. While I'm not a fan of restaurants offering food that is not traditional to their own background, I was actually hoping to try their laksa and tom yum soup noodles. Unfortunately, I will have to wait since they only have the beef broth based noodle soups right now. Let's talk about their pho. Relative to most Vietnamese restaurants, their soup is flavourful, but yet more 'clean and refined'. What I mean by clean and refined is that you won't see traces of oil and fat in their broth and you won't be chugging water like crazy after the meal. The soup itself is on the slightly sweet side, but if you add some lime juice to it, it perfectly hits the spot; temperature wise the soup could be hotter upon arrival. Their pho noodle of choice was of the fresh variety, but I thought that they were just a bit hard when it was first served. A tiny bit hard, but maybe missing a little bit of chew. The star of their pho was their cuts of meat. You get less quantity and variety of meat, no tripe, but the meats were the best I've had in Toronto. Regardless, if it's the sliced beef or the brisket, they were very tender. The beef balls tasted good and the tendon were treated and cleaned properly (they were chopped into small pieces which was atypical, but had no weird taste). Their pho are prices at approximately $14.75 and an extra $2 will upgrade you to a large noodle. If you want a combo with 2 pieces of appetizer (spring rolls, deep fried wonton or butter fish sauce chicken wings), that will cost you $18.50. The spring rolls and chickens wings were delicious. I really liked the filling of the spring rolls as they had a good amount of taro in it, but I wished they used rice paper instead. The chicken wings were a bit oily, but the flavour was top-notch (Bursting with flavours, but not overly salty). We did end up ordering the Thai iced green tea, but I didn't really enjoy it. In general, I like the flowery taste of jasmine tea which was the tea that was used here, but with the milk that they used (I suspect it's evaporated milk since I see rows of them along their backsplash area), it gave it a funky taste. The service overall was pleasant. When they came with the plate of bean sprout and I asked them to replace them with cooked bean sprout, they happily obliged. The server also came around to check on us to see if things were ok. When we were cashing out at the counter, they also proactively asked us whether we had a good experience at the restaurant. I almost forgot to mention about their homemade satay sauce. I wish they would actually sell it in a bottle so that customers can take it home (I suspect one day they will). It's that good (I've never bought bottles of sauce from a restaurant before)! The sauce had a complex umami taste that typically cannot be found in most satay sauces. Even if you don't generally mix satay sauce with your pho, make sure you try it when you are at Pho Le. While the experience did not blow me away, I enjoyed the experience. For those who are looking for large portions where you can feed your face, you will not find it here. But, if you are looking for a slightly more refined bowl of pho, you will like it here. read more

Have to put your name down on a clipboard. The seats are nicely spaced out and nice decor. The satay wasn't really to our liking, tasted more like a peanut sauce. We got 2 phos (one was with the wings combo), and tried the Thai green tea. Seemed like they were out of a few things from the drinks menu. The pho itself was yummy, good quality meats, and savoury oily broth. The wings and Thai ice tea were ok, not bad but there are better spots for that. Unfortunately, our dining experience was not great. They kept messing up my wife's order, even the second time it was wrong and we had to wait a third time. By then, my pho was already cold. We also had to ask for the side condiments like Thai basil, lime, and bean sprouts. For now, might just consider take out cause I like their pho. They accept cash or debit, credit card with a fee. Pricing is pretty fair, most people choose the combo that comes with an appetizer. The service here is also really fast, your order is taken and food arrives at a paced interval. The decor inside is quite simple, but definitely has a bit of a Vietnamese flair. Heard great things about this place so finally ventured to the west to try it out. Place was occupied on a Thursday evening but we didn't have to wait for long for a table. I ordered the soft shell crab vermicelli soup to try because someone else at another table had it and it looked and smelled soooooo good. The first sip of the broth was so tasty. A small new pho place opened in a super busy Richmond Hill plaza. The place gets busy fast so I recommend going before 11:30 if you don't want to wait. In my experience, those with smaller parties (less than 2) will get a seat faster than larger parties (due to the limited number of seats in the store). I waited only 15 mins after putting down my name at 11:30 a.m. Food wise, I like the fact that they have 'combo's where you can get one of their noodle soups, and it comes with a small appetizer. Taste wise, their broth is one the sweeter side than other pho places I have tried, and the meat is flavourful and tender - more like a brisket than the dry sliced beef you get at other places. But took about 30 mins to serve 4 bowls of noodle soup. The shop is really small and not sure why they need 30 mins to serve. The bowl was ok but not as fragrant as I expected. I debated hard if I should leave a 2 versus 3-star review but 2 stars on Yelp stand for "Could've been better", and those are the exact 4 words for Pho Le. First of all, if you advertise yourself as Michelin recommended and originated since 1970, even if that is a Ho Chi Minh City stat, you are setting yourself up for a higher standard and you should only do that if you are confident you can meet those high bars. Unfortunately in this case, Pho Le did not. After I sat down for more than 5 minutes at the table, and my attempts to get someone's attention, I was given a plate of spring sprouts but not water nor a menu. I was baffled. Are you running on an assumption that I will definitely order pho even before I was given a choice to decide? Broth was delicious, as expected, but not hot enough which leads to undercooked spring sprouts and quick frankly a major disappointment. If you can't even get the right temperature to serve your customers, how did you earn the title of Michelin recommended? That is one of the most fundamental details you have to get it right. Finally, we waited and waited for the bill to come. At this point, we were disappointed with the quality and slow service. The servers look inexperienced and inefficient. The change in cash I was given back was all in bills with limited coins. Again, another sign of inexperience staff... either they think they deserve that higher tips in bills or they have no idea how to entice a customer to tip... While there was pho, ton yum soup and laksa soup noodles on the menu, they only served pho soup. We got the combo which is a pho soup with choice of chicken wings, dumplings spring rolls for $18.50. We ordered the combo and since we could not order anything except pho, we all got the signature pho with one being extra noodles. Been here 3 times on multiple occasions, random walk-in times, whether for lunch or for dinner we were greeted nicley by their staff and wait times are usually 30-45 minutes? I usually leave my name then wait for them to call when the table is ready since the front entrance area isn't that spacious or meant for standing around. The food: the noodles + small appetizer combo is what we order almost every time and honestly, there aren't that many items to choose from on their menu! We still wanted to try the different soups and this time I tried their tom yum beef and I have to say it tasted better than the clear soup, mainly because of the intense flavours and it wasn't as oily (or maybe i just couldn't see it) but definitely getting this again next time! Service: I have to agree with the other reviews that service here was a tad slow, but super slow but could be improved! Would be nice if they had more appetizer items or drinks to choose from. read more
