Go loa ban lam (it's actually Basa not Grouper)
    William L.

It's a treat to be surprised. I think we have a new value champion in the neighborhood. Good flavors, texture and volume at good price. Something new never had before. Really liked the sweet and sour fish (goo low ban lam)... it's basa not grouper... so temper you expectations. So crispy unlike some other places that take shortcuts. Then had a classic, salt and pepper pork chops. Again nice and crispy. These were a little different than other places and have more of a spicy kick and a lurked more cooking wine flavor. Softness but good of you can put aside your want for something familiar. Then tried braised taro and ribs. Nice and creamy. This was the only dish that was only average in flavor... not as "herg" as I've tasted in the past... not sure how to translate. The poached chicken was nice and smooth... an unexpected winner. Cooked just right... a couple more mins and it becomes chewy... We all liked it. So simple but so good. Perfect. Jovial chatty server... lots of fun. Price was right and good was really good I will be back. Maybe try or the BBQ meats next time.

This is a newly opened HK style cafe. We came in Sunday afternoon at 4:30 to check it out, got seated immediately. The staff is very friendly, but under staffed. We ordered: 1. Bbq pork with rice 3.5/5 2. 四宝饭- 4/5 3. Bbq duck rice noodles- 烧鸭濑粉3/5 they have a vip program offering at a discounted price menu with $30 , and it's quite complicated since $30 points will be used towards the discounts (20%) The staff is very patient to explain the VIP system twice to me. Overall, it is very reasonable price with good portion, and they are trying their best to serve us . Do recommend this cozy HK cafe and in support for the local business.

Don't miss the restaurant's top three must-tries: Hand-shredded chicken with crispy skin and tender meat, soaked in a rich secret sauce; braised lamb belly stew--aromatic, melt-in-your-mouth, perfect for chilly seasons; and Singapore-style fried rice noodles--wok-fried to smoky perfection with spicy curry flavor! Every dish is made with heart, keeping customers coming back for more... and even ordering takeaway after

    Anniversary special $19 lamb pot.

Generally good, reasonably price and big portion. A little bit waiting during peak hours.

    Happy Hour Menu

I was just around the neighbourhood yesterday and saw they advertised $5 Hainan Chicken rice. So I thought I would give it a try today. However, the offer is no longer available when I went during Happy Hour today. I ordered Satay Beef with Sausage, Egg and Condensed Milk Butter Toast, and Milk Tea from their happy hour menu. I After 10 minutes of placing my order, nothing came; not even the milk tea. The tea didn't come after a more experienced waiter came over to reconfirm my order, so I thought they might have forgotten about my order. When the noodle came, there was NO SAUSAGE in the noodle as mentioned in the English version. I noticed that there is a translation discrepancy between the Chinese and the English version of this item. The noodle is al denté but the satay beef is extremely salty. Spicy level is mild but overall is too salty. I also noticed the Condensed Milk Butter Toast DID NOT come with the order when I get my bill. Not a good experience and I am still very thirsty after 4 hours eating the food. I will not return to try out other dish as there are too much discrepancies in one simple order.

Sadly there was no chair for her to sit down on yet it didn't stop her from going to her regular spot for a Sunday brunch. She told me that she has been coming here for many years, even before it was called Sammy's. Has it been 30 years, she asked herself? Either way, she made it known that she is quite the regular. Very nice and friendly lady. These are the types of regulars that make the diner what it is. There is a sign in clipboard at the front, as soon as you walk in. You have to sign in as part of contact tracing in case there is an outbreak of COVID linked back to this establishment. Make sure you do not block the pathway from behind the bar, I didn't block it but a large family with several kids needed a place to stand in line and wait for a big table, because servers will get very mad at you and tell you "I NEED TO GET BY! DON'T BLOCK THE WAY!" But there is no where to stand when the lineup is 20 people deep. This is something to think about once the weather gets colder and there is a long lineup out the door. Perhaps takeout would be a better option than to be yelled at by the short haired waitress with tattoos? While I did not mind waiting and I had a book to occupy my time in the lineup and at the table before I was given the menu, I could see that this was obviously a rush time, prime time lunchtime at the diner, maybe others might be a little more impatient than me? I could watch a snail crawl for hours, patience is a virtue. The wait is very long to get seated and even longer to get food. While the food was pretty good, and the other server was very friendly, attentive and nice, I think they were short staffed that day and nothing is ever as instant as fast food. My advice would be to go here when you have the time to wait. Don't come here if you are in a rush. It's better to only come here when you have lots of time to wait.

Home style food well prepared. Lots of variety in the menu....Staff are good people too.read more

My fav restaurant for #valentinesday…read more Baked Alaska is still my fav dessert ever, that passionfruit truly elevates the taste profile. I loved the duck confit eggs Benny! It was hearty and flavorful! The eggs were very runny and I used the English muffins and delicious garlic home fries to soak it all up! I'm most pleasantly surprised that we can order from the brunch menu at dinner. I didn't try the AAA steak but I was told that this was absolutely delicious and he wished it was a bigger portion. The rice underneath is a pilaf :) Service was standard. I mean, I don't come here for the service anyway. It's a slightly upscale atmosphere here, no sweatpants please!

The music is a bit loud and reminded me of club/lounge music, not a chill jazz relaxing brunch atmosphere. Service was slow and the kitchen even slower. When the hostess sat us at our reserved table, she brought up the 90 minute seating rule. Our food didn't come out until the hour mark, so come prepared for hungry or little ones. The Korean french toast has an amazing crunch on the outside and super moist and soft brioche inside. The four slices looked big but was very easy to demolish. PB & J Hamburger was interesting! That is definitely a brunchy sounding dish and it did not disappoint. It was a delicious, messy, goopy burger with so much flavour. Burrata arugula salad with long thin strips of prosciutto was very light. The fig wedges were sweet and this dish was a great starter without being too heavy. Biscoff Latte is always a pleaser; bit of a strange glassware choice for a hot beverage as it has no handles.
