a dining area with booths and tables

Not bad. I came in here for a cheap, solo dinner. The place is clean and nice, and the service is friendly. I ordered the 1/4 chicken (LOVE rotisserie chicken) and was happy to have a whole bevy of sides to eat it with. I chose green beans and steamed veggies in an effort to be healthy. The chicken was a bit dry/overcooked, but it came with a dipping sauce that was tasty. The vegetables were perfect. They didn't rush me, which was great because I had an hour to kill. Looks like they do quite a bit of takeout business. I'd go again if I were craving chicken and in the area.

    Pork chop w/ egg, grilled veggies & pickled papaya. 1/4 chicken w/ spring rolls(3) & garlic rice. Altogether $20 w/ a pop

I've come here 3 times and haven't had a problem. I've had the Korean beef, quarter chicken, and pork chop, all of which I found really yummy. The menu is pretty small, but the prices are fairly cheap and the food is really good and the portion is filling. I went with my mom for lunch today to sit in for the first time, the service was really quick and really accommodating (I think their dine-in service is a tad quicker than their take-out, but don't trust me, I'm poor judge of time passing) I tried the pork chop and fried egg, with a side of grilled veggies and pickled papaya. My mom got the quarter chicken with garlic rice (my favourite side dish!) and spring rolls. The pork chop was grilled really well! Nice and juicy, and perfect with the soy sauce dipping sauce. The pickled papaya I found a bit too gingery; I couldn't have too much at a time. I tried my mom's spring roll and it was really yummy too. I definitely will be back.

The restaurant is giving cozy comforts diner with abut 20 people worth of seating. Join the waitlist as soon as you can because you can wait up to 2 hours for a table on a Sunday morning. After we got seated and our waiter came over and he wasn't giving the most welcoming energy, he seemed a little stand off ish which was weird but we assumed that's just how he was lol. Other than that that the service was good. We started with the biscuits. You have an option to have it with gravy or jam. We got jam and it came with a clotted cream like spread and a cinnamon apple tasting jam. The biscuits were nice and fluffy. We got an ice coffee too and it was really good. I always come for the party melt. It comes with their house salad and a scoop of their sweet potato salad. The whole plate was fantastic. We also for their turkey dinner and this was so delicious but we were so full we only had a couple bites and took the rest home. It was just as delicious as reheated leftovers.

Ordered OG patty melt (reuben style), sour cream donut, egg and steak(or sausage? dont recall). Patty melt is really good. unique. tender and juicy patty. with dipping sauce on the side. Egg & steak(or sausage....dont recall) is too normal (my friend prefer to eat my patty melt instead). Sour cream donut is crazily delicious! not too sweet, soft and airy dough. We wish to buy more (cz we only ordered 1, just to try). As we were eating, people kept coming (but restaurant is full and they need to register for online waitlist, which could take 2-3hrs waiting list). Worth to try if you live nearby. Otherwise, probably it's ok to skip. It'a good or unique, but not too wow/mind blowing (especially for a far commute). It's a simple-and-classic-and-feels-homey vibe type of breakfast after all. Fast and attentive service. Cheers!

With its red exterior, snug booth seating, and counter stools worn smooth by years of faithful custom, it wears its authenticity without affectation. The Irish breakfast is the undisputed centrepiece: a generous, unapologetically hearty spread that arrives with the sort of abundance one associates with a proper Irish kitchen. Portions are substantial and satisfying, calibrated for appetite rather than aesthetics -- and all the better for it. The menu is unpretentious, and the cooking honest. What distinguishes The George Street Diner most, however, is the quality of its hospitality. The service is warm and unhurried, characterised by a genuine attentiveness that is increasingly rare. One leaves not merely fed, but looked after -- and that distinction matters. It is the sort of neighbourhood gem one recommends without hesitation, and whose reputation travels well. I have done so on multiple occasions, and the response has been unfailingly positive. A treasured find for weekend brunch in Toronto.

The eggs were great but I couldn't eat the rest. I don't want fries for breakfast. The beans were straight out of a can, a tiny piece if mushy tomato, extremely dry soda bread, and the worse tasting mushrooms I've ever had. Husband had the same but with too salty sausage. He couldn't eat it. We both basically ate the egg with a piece of the soda bread. Service was great. Coffee cup never empty. But omg, SO pricey for a diner. Won't be back.

Sadly there was no chair for her to sit down on yet it didn't stop her from going to her regular spot for a Sunday brunch. She told me that she has been coming here for many years, even before it was called Sammy's. Has it been 30 years, she asked herself? Either way, she made it known that she is quite the regular. Very nice and friendly lady. These are the types of regulars that make the diner what it is. There is a sign in clipboard at the front, as soon as you walk in. You have to sign in as part of contact tracing in case there is an outbreak of COVID linked back to this establishment. Make sure you do not block the pathway from behind the bar, I didn't block it but a large family with several kids needed a place to stand in line and wait for a big table, because servers will get very mad at you and tell you "I NEED TO GET BY! DON'T BLOCK THE WAY!" But there is no where to stand when the lineup is 20 people deep. This is something to think about once the weather gets colder and there is a long lineup out the door. Perhaps takeout would be a better option than to be yelled at by the short haired waitress with tattoos? While I did not mind waiting and I had a book to occupy my time in the lineup and at the table before I was given the menu, I could see that this was obviously a rush time, prime time lunchtime at the diner, maybe others might be a little more impatient than me? I could watch a snail crawl for hours, patience is a virtue. The wait is very long to get seated and even longer to get food. While the food was pretty good, and the other server was very friendly, attentive and nice, I think they were short staffed that day and nothing is ever as instant as fast food. My advice would be to go here when you have the time to wait. Don't come here if you are in a rush. It's better to only come here when you have lots of time to wait.
