The pho is reasonably priced and the portion sizes are huge! My partner and I usually share a medium, which is enough for both of us. One of my favorite starters on the menu is the nam khao. The rice is crispy, tangy, savory, spicy...so flavorful! It can get heavy especially if you're not sharing the dish with others, so wrap it in the lettuce leaves to keep it refreshing. I would come here just for that one plate alone. Nam khao is a Lao rice and salad dish made with deep fried rice, Lao-style pork sausage, peanuts, mint, cilantro, fish sauce, and other ingredients. The result is an insane amalgamation of sweet, tart, and spicy mixed with crunchy bites of rice. It comes with individual lettuce leaves that I highly recommend you use to make wraps with. I order take out from here pretty regularly, and since I never have cash I use apps and pick up. I appreciate the staff here who even while short staffed rectified a mistake my app made and gave me a side for no extra charge. Good customer service always keeps people coming back, and Pho Ketkeo has it in abundance. I unfortunately have to say I was disappointed a short while ago. I had to leave and ho somewhere else. We got there and seated right away but then we sat there without even getting water for close to 10 minutes. Nobody came over to say they'd be there in a minute. I'm not one to exaggerate either. I have to say this was going to be my third time here within a week. I was here last Friday then again on Saturday. That's how much I enjoyed this place. This casual-dining restaurant was terrific on all counts, from food to service, to the point of increasing my heretofore casual interest in this branch of cuisine. It's tough to mess up fried rice, right? But this one is very good. I also liked the cashew nut, which I had with tofu. I would suggest avoiding the pho. I've tried two times, and I've found the pho broth way too salty and a bit skimpy on the meat. I was surprisingly impressed by the crispy chicken wings. I would definitely order them again. They are both very flavorful and the portions are good (I can make two meals out of each order). The Laotian fried rice contains Asian sausage, shrimp, chicken, and egg. It's definitely very filling, but I was overwhelmed by the array of protein it had. I ordered the yellow curry with chicken and it had the coconut flavor I love and it was good. It's not bad, but it's also not the best. The only reason I gave this place a 3 stars instead of a 4 stars is that it took a long time for my food to come once I ordered it. read more

Based on the name, I presumed the place was more of a Vietnamese restaurant versus a Laotian/Cambodian. After browsing the menu, I came to the realization that it was the reverse. However, it did not prevent me from dining. Unfortunately, I was really in the mood for Vietnamese. I have to say the employees were quite pleasant. The food came all at once so it was quite overwhelming. The appetizer was the last item placed on the table. Ideally, I would have preferred enjoying it first but it really was not a major issue since I generally dine with a selection of dishes. Pho - I really should have known better to have order this dish at a non-Vietnamese restaurant. The broth lack the flavor of being prepared from beef bones and it did not included the appropriate spices. There was a sweetness that I was not accustomed to. Not my preference. I had to adjust the flavor of the broth with the condiments on the table ( a "pho"-pa at normal pho establishments). The meat was quite tough and fully cooked when presented at the table. Most pho places serve it raw in the broth. Sausage - Great outer texture and spice. Only a bit too dry for my tastes. The ginger and onions assisted the dry texture of the sausage. Crepe - I was not use to the peanut sauce, romaine, and only Thai basil herb. Typically, a fish sauce and sweet vinegar based sauce accompanies the crepe. Romaine was served but I prefer red leaf with a selection of herbs. The crepe itself was fine. Mango Salad - I order the highest spice level but needed to add more heat. Too many cashews which prevented me from enjoying the mango. Sticky Rice - microwaved and still had the plastic wrap around it (refer to pic). It was quite challenging to open it since plastic tends to melt to itself. Note to business - So with reheated/microwave rice it tends to harden quickly and becomes unpalatable. If you plan to serve it anyways, please remove the plastic wrap. I will return to try the Laotian and Cambodian cuisine but will go elsewhere for Thai and Vietnamese dishes. read more

We tried the larb, a Laotian dish which tasted very fresh alongside the beef. The Pad Thai was nicely balanced with a variety of flavors and was generously portioned. The 3 was just right, so brace yourself for a 4 or 5. Sticky rice. It was done well and it was a generous portion. Summer rolls. Super fresh veggies and good peanut sauce. My sister had the satay and said it was tasty. The pad Thai was good. The atmosphere was casual and the night we went it was super loud as there was a group of men drinking a lot of wine and being REALLY loud. The decor was simple and nice. Our waiter was new. Pho ketkeo is a solid 4-4.5 stars for food and drink. It serves a diverse variety of southeast asian dishes from Vietnamese pho to Thai curries, and Laotian food as well. I think the Laotian food here is supposed to be better and more authentic than the other 2 types. I tried the 3 flavored fried fish in sweet savory sauce and veggies. This was very delicious. I would say all the chef specials seem to be particularly good. The pho here is standard. It definitely satisfies s my pho cravings, although I would not compare it to the delicious phos from NYC, SF, and Houston. (Best pho is in Houston!!) The summer rolls here are quite good with generous amounts of shrimp rolled within the veggies. This is a staple of mine! I also tried the papaya salad, which is subpar as I have had many delicious authentic papaya salads from Queens. I love the Thai ice tea and Thai ice coffees from here - especially now during the summertime. I would love to try more of the Laotian options here as I think this is the restaurant's strong point. I heard about this place for a while. It was on the way home and after a long, cold day on the slopes, we were craving a warm bowl of pho. We were greeted by the pho aroma as soon as we walked through the door. It was comforting and left me salivating. We ordered one large (Rudy) and one small bowl with meatballs, flank steak, tripe, and tendon and one medium with veggies & tofu. The broth was extremely flavorful and needed very little condiments. I came here for some good pho, but it was a disappointment. I ordered a B5 which consists of all the meats from B1-B4 ( whatever that means, right) take a look for yourself with the photos. The tom yum soup and the pho came out the same time. It's very small portion pho and the meats were weak. There were probably 2 slices of flanks, I don't even remember anymore. If you order take out from this place, BE PREPARED TO WAIT. After a long day of work, we decided to order from here. Places our order of the phone and told to arrive in 20-25 minutes. Upon arrival, we were told to wait another 15 minutes. But, in total we waited another 25 minutes till our entire order was ready. Upon arriving home, we found that the condiments for my pho order and the white rice for our fish were never given to us. So we had to come home and cook our own rice after all. Furthermore, while we waited for our last item to be prepared, our food was just sitting around getting cold. By the time we got back, I had to reheat everything. I was fighting a cold, and Pho Ketkeo hit the spot when I was able to stop in for lunch. There's nothing like a bowl of hot soup when you're sick, but for me, there's especially nothing like a bowl of Laotian noodle soup that takes me back to my childhood and reminds me of something my Laotian mom or grandma would make. The pho here is good - flavorful broth, good amount of noodles, with fresh bean sprouts, lime, jalapeños, and Thai basil on the side. I got pho at the beginning of my cold two weeks ago and ordered it with the combination of meatballs, sliced steak, tripe, and tendon. It was exactly what I needed at the time, but I did wish there was a little more meat. The standout for me is the kow piek sen, which is a Laotian chicken noodle soup with homemade noodles. It has magical healing powers, and I was so happy to see it on the menu and came back for it a week after I came for pho. It comes in one size, and it's a big bowl of fresh, chewy noodles, tons of chicken, some slices of pork roll (my family doesn't normally add this, but I thought it was a nice touch), plus scallions and fried shallots. I added a little chili oil (the restaurant makes their own with a warning that it's seriously spicy), and it was the perfect combination of flavors and spiciness. My work schedule puts me in downtown New Haven at least once a week, so I'm glad to have Pho Ketkeo in the regular lunch rotation. I also appreciate that they're on UberEATS so I can order anytime I want some Laotian home cooking. read more
