Drunken Noodles
Katarzyna K.

Initially our first time at this hole in the wall spot was great!! I loved the authentic flavors of the coconut soup I shared with my mom. My main was drunken noodles which were great and my dad got the special Pad Thai which had fried wontons- super yummy! What killed the experience was the food poisoning my mom and I had afterwards :( must have been the coconut soup (with seafood added) as my dad didn't not try that and he was fine. Chalking it up to bad luck because otherwise was good.... Still adverse to Thai food since then.

I've been here many, many times, and I can't believe I haven't written a review on them yet. All the workers there are so nice and sweet, I enjoy coming here, the place is always so clean and very well-kept. The ambiance is Thai without being in your face about it. The subtle Asian touches throughout the restaurant give it a nice classy feel when you enter. To me, this is the hidden Gem of Torrington. Being featured in a Litchfield Magazine has given this amazing place the notoriety it deserves. My date and I are always greeted very warmly and immediately without ever waiting and we get to pick which seats we'd like. The restaurant is BYOB, and there's a liquor store conveniently pretty much next door. They bring wine glasses, cups of ice, anything you could need, they'll have and all you have to do is just ask politely. The appetizers are all so very good, my favorites are the Fresh Spring Rolls, Fried Spring Rolls, Chicken Satay, and Crab Rangoons. Everything tastes so freshly homemade and just bursting with flavors. The Fresh Spring Rolls have pork and shrimp in them with the perfect ratio of rice noodles and lettuce inside giving the perfect textures of soft, chewy, the crispness of the veggies. The dipping sauce is like a sweet chili sauce and together they taste amazing. The Fried Spring Rolls are also delicious, fried to golden perfection, they come hot, and it is so hard to wait to eat them. I love these rolls because they are so crispy and crunchy, the filling is light and flavorful without being overwhelmed by cabbage like you would get from a Chinese restaurant. The Chicken Satay is just beautiful, They are grilled to perfection as you can see from the grill marks, I love that slight char, it gives it a more authentic Thai flavor for sure. They come with two dipping sauces and both are delicious and a must try of both. One is cucumber with a little bit of spice and sweetness and the other is a peanut butter-based sauce. The Crab Rangoons are so good here. I feel like they have more flavor here than anywhere else. They taste more cheesy with a burst of umami flavors. For my Entree, I almost always get the Pad See Eww Beef. I've had this dish from many places but this particular one stands out. The sauce they use gives it a deeper and richer flavor than anywhere else. And the noodles it's almost like they must make them there because they taste so fresh and have that perfect firm softness, with a slight chew that delights my tastebuds oh so very much. The Pho here is a must-try if you are a lover of Pho. The flavors in it are so much more pronounced than in other places that I have been. The broth has that sweet, salty, and savory umami flavor that marries together so well in this dish. The perfect amount of noodles to meat ratio. The serving is more than enough to make sure you leave with a very full belly if you can eat it all. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back for more!

Outstanding! Thai is my favorite cuisine and they do a great job. I need to try the drunken noodles next time. They look amazing. The Tom Yum Gai had the expected mushrooms, scallions, and coriander and the broth was perfect. They loaded it with local vegetables. Tomato, onion, sweet pepper strips, even carrots (?) not authentic but I liked the additions. Their homemade thai sausage was excellent. It came with broccoli and more local peppers and carrots. Their hot chili sauce was good. I love sticky rice and theirs did not disappoint. I will definitely return. Highly recommended.

Wowwwww the food is delicious! We stumbled upon this Thai/Lao restaurant on our way to the Berkshires from NYC. It is at par to authentic restaurants in the city. The portion is good and is well balanced with meat and vegetables! There is a grocery shop in this plaza which makes this a great stop for road trip. Will definitely come back!

Food was very good. The dishes were generous and flavorful. Spring rolls were crispy very good with duck sauce provided. Chicken stray was accompanied by a peanut sauce which complemented the grilled chicken nicely. Main dish the pork curry nice and perfect spicy level, sweet and sour chicken with sticky rice was good. Pineapple rice was excellent the cashews were roasted fresh and crispy complainants well contrasting the sweetness of the pineapple and well seasoned rice. All was good will definitely return

Never disappoints no matter what you order. Fresh, fabulous and well presented. I have zero desire for Chinese when this gem of a place exists!

It wasnt bad but definitely an interesting experience…read more Went here with my father. I ordered Pho, he ordered a thai noodle dish. Service was prompt and pretty good. The inside is very "unique" its decorated somewhat like a bad dream mixed with animal pelts. The pho was disappointing. It wasnt rice noodles, it came with nothing on the sides like normal pho (no basil, hoison, bean sprouts, lime etc). When I asked for hoison sauce they brought out an industrial sized bottle that had dried sauce on the sides. I am not sure what to make of this. Nothing was bad, but it was just a weird experience.

This was my first visit, so I ordered cautiously ... only two apps that are typically my favorites in a Thai restaurant. 1) shrimp fresh roll (aka summer roll) 2) tom yum soup Both were good. The fresh roll was the best of the lot and the sauce was excellent. I wish the veggies were a little colder. But that's splitting hairs. The soup was good. Had more funk than spice. Portion was borderline small - but happy I tried it. I will absolutely be back to try more "real" food. I appreciated the service and felt very well taken care of. What keeps me from giving a better score were a few, housekeeping items: 1) while I was pleased to see each table gets a lovely carafe of water, that water is really difficult to drink. It has a metallic and "funky" taste to it. It kind of turned me off to wanting to eat more before I ordered as I was then questioning "is this water in everything?" 2) my shoes kept sticking to the floor. Not out of filth/dirt, but it felt like the soap or floor cleaner they used was somehow still there and sticky. None of this impacted the food. But it put me in a mindset where I didn't really want to order an abundance of food and try it all. To be clear: I will be back. I can't wait to try some other dishes.

No one else took a table, so I really think my taking one was okay. The hibachi area was closed - that may only be certain nights or occasions? That inside is dark and in shadows. My waiter was a little high strung. He came back to see how I was really frequently and took my plates right away. The food was good. I might have been able to see it being prepared because there was an open air station. The chicken Satay was well cooked, and crab Ragoons okay.

The sushi is consistently good. It will not be the best you've ever had - but you will always leave happy, full, and wondering why you do not come more often. I arrived starving. I ordered a lot of food. Enjoyed every bite. A couple of notes/tips: 1) their sushi specials sheet is typically only ok. Usually sounds amazing, but ends up a tad over priced for the product. Menu options are my best bet. 2) this is petty.. and evidence of my 48 years of age... but... they clearly xerox their own copies of the menus and laminate them. The original is not a print-ready file. So the font is not only small, but blurry from generations of reprinting and copying a copy. So... bring your readers if you need them. Haha.

Proving that it's the company as much as the location, a recent visit to Chiangmai Thai Restaurant…read morein Naugatuck was absolutely delightful given the lovely service from our waitress. One got the sense that the other diners that evening felt much the same way. It was a weeknight, and with a lower customer load than might be the case on a Friday or weekend, she had ample time to spend with each party, regaling us all with fun conversation. It goes without saying that the company in one's own party makes a whale of a difference, and in that regards I could not have asked for better. This is to take nothing away from the food, which was absolutely delicious, flavorful and mercifully not too spicy - our aging gastrointestinal systems are sadly just not up for the violent torment from a chilli assault like when we were younger, and felt invincible. The mango rice dessert - enough for two to split - was sublime. And the town of Naugy itself - for both of us an unknown quantity til that evening despite having whizzed past it a ton on Route 8, hammering down the famous Naugahyde River Valley - is intriguing. Naugatuck offers gorgeous and fascinating architecture from the last two centuries at least, evidence of thriving mill-driven industry in years past, very easy access from the highway, and lots of close on-street parking, at least on a Thursday evening. BYOB if you are that way inclined, as they don't have a liquor license. Will we be back to Chiangmai Thai? Abso-frikkin-lutely. I've you've already been, then go back again, and soon. If you haven't had the pleasure, get moving now and thank me later.
