This restaurant has a variety of options to choose from and a great lunch menu. The sauce was flavorful and they give a good amount of shrimp. Service was friendly and fast. Proving that it's the company as much as the location, a recent visit to Chiangmai Thai Restaurant in Naugatuck was absolutely delightful given the lovely service from our waitress. One got the sense that the other diners that evening felt much the same way. It was a weeknight, and with a lower customer load than might be the case on a Friday or weekend, she had ample time to spend with each party, regaling us all with fun conversation. It goes without saying that the company in one's own party makes a whale of a difference, and in that regards I could not have asked for better. This is to take nothing away from the food, which was absolutely delicious, flavorful and mercifully not too spicy - our aging gastrointestinal systems are sadly just not up for the violent torment from a chilli assault like when we were younger, and felt invincible. The mango rice dessert - enough for two to split - was sublime. And the town of Naugy itself - for both of us an unknown quantity til that evening despite having whizzed past it a ton on Route 8, hammering down the famous Naugahyde River Valley - is intriguing. Naugatuck offers gorgeous and fascinating architecture from the last two centuries at least, evidence of thriving mill-driven industry in years past, very easy access from the highway, and lots of close on-street parking, at least on a Thursday evening. BYOB if you are that way inclined, as they don't have a liquor license. Will we be back to Chiangmai Thai? Abso-frikkin-lutely. I've you've already been, then go back again, and soon. This review has nothing to do with the gracious girl working behind the counter because that's why it's 2 stars and not 1...Normally we order from here on a pretty regular basis. So tonight took a little bit of phone tag to try and get someone to answer the actual phone. Once I placed my order for pick up, they told me 25 minutes. So I did a quick grocery run before hand and made it there just at the half hour mark. I was greeted by the wonderful girl behind the counter. My food was not ready so I paid and took a seat to wait. She went in back to check on my Pho soups that I had ordered and came back to let me know "they ran out of bean sprouts". For what it's worth anyone that gets Pho, the vegetable of the soup is the actual bean sprout. So I told her it was ok, but in reality wha type of soup am I getting without one the main ingredients. So about 20 minutes later my food was ready and I left. I was disturbed to find that when I got home I opened up what should have had the sauces and bean spouts in it, had my sauces and iceberg lettuce. ICEBERG LETTUCE!! Now these pho soups are not 10$ they are 18$ for what I ordered. If they couldn't fulfill the order as requested I should have been offered a discount or some sort of replacement. Needless to say I didn't know what was in the container until I got home. Highly disappointed with my 90$ order. read more

12.24.23 This is going to be one of those I can't believe I haven't posted a review for this place yet, even after the dozens of times I've been here over the last handful of years. This is Naugatuck's hidden gem. They most definitely deserve the accolades. A family run Asian business. Need I say more? I've encountered most of if not all of their family members at some point. They're always so sweet kind and patient. They are all so genuine & kindhearted people. Their are very hospitable. It does take a little bit longer at times for you to receive your food but it's worth it. They're making it to order and it's always fresh. They don't have a lot of staff working with them usually. I have tried many different menu items and i can truly say I've never been disappointed. The inside is ornately decorated with something interesting everywhere you look. The ambiance is casual & friendly from the moment you walk in and get sat. Nice relaxing vibe. The Thai iced tea is a great starter. It goes great with their Larb. Yummers. The Thai crispy egg rolls are great too with the fish sauce. There are some lunch specials that are very inexpensive they run Monday thru Friday but I prefer most of the items from their regular menu. Let's just say the lunch specials i have had weren't my favorite items from their menu. My favorite is their Lad Naah with the side noodles, Chinese broccoli & the gravy. Serious yummers. IMO. For real. Almost forgot about the Sai Ghock which was delicious too. It's home made. But My all time fav is the mango sticky rice of course. This is drool worthy yumms :-) The parking situation is very easy. There's parking on both sides of the street and a large parking lot across the street for many of the surrounding businesses. I am very happy that we found this gem in the town next door. We were driving 30 minutes to get quality Authentic Thai and then I stumbled upon Chiangmai Thai in Naugatuck. It is an intimate space with small town vibes. This place is always busy and, trust me, it is worth the wait. To date my favorites are: Chicken Satay Panang Curry, mmmmm spicy panang, so rich an coconutty, you gotta try it! Ginger Chicken Stir Fry is fresh and tasty, this is one of the go-to dishes in our crew. I was looking for Yum Woon Sen (Thai glass noodle salad) and it is not on their menu but they do have Yum which is similar (surely not the same) but does not have the glass noodles. I am a sucker for good Tom-Yum and Chiangmai does not disappoint. Its sour, its sweet, it is delicious. read more

Chang Mai Thai is a little place in downtown Naugatuck that I've been going to since they've been there. They don't have any alcohol so I never eat there and have only used them when I want to takeout. They always have my order ready when I get there and the place is clean and the staff is always nice. I haven't tried that many things on their menu but I usually stick to the Pad Thai or one of the stir fry items and they've always been pretty good. This is an absolute GEM of a restaurant. We've traveled extensively in Thailand (North and South). The food here is prepared in the best tradition of great Thai food. Excellent sauces, fresh veggies, fantastic seafood, jasmine or sticky rice, etc. The service is excellent and the servings are large. We had Calamari, Tom-Kar (Coconut Soup), Som-Tum (green papaya salad), Thai Hot Pot (melange of seafood in broth), Tropical Sea Scallops, and Wonton Pad Thai. I can't believe it's taken me this long to visit the Thai restaurant in my own town, but I'm so glad I finally did! It's a small, cozy spot with friendly staff. I was very happy with my pad Thai - it had such a great flavor! There were plenty of large pieces of chicken mixed in too. My dad enjoyed his dish of cashew duck as well. This has been a perfect location for our break from away of our business meeting early this week. There is nothing like have Thai food as one of our favorite food of choice for our palate. The service was very attentive and the atmosphere is very pleasant. The business family owners are very friendly and inviting. We had a variety of selection from the menu and just to name a few. The appetizers Chicken Satay is amazingly and uniquely flavored, and Curry Puffs just love how it's lightly toasted on the outside and the meat inside compliments overall the Curry Puffs as soon as you bite into it. The entree Drunken Noodles on a slight spicy side and it's definitely how we enjoy this dish. On this dish, the drunken noodles along with chicken and veggies is flavored overall perfectly. As our drink of choice, it is always our love for their Thai Ice Tea. As for the dessert, our go to is the Sweet Mango fruit that rest over on top with coconut sticky rice-Delish! Food 5 stars Server attitude 2 stars! I stand behind my previous 5 star review for the food but last nights experience, the first with my husband joining my girls and me was a huge disappointment and I know he won't go back. Granted we arrived at 8:30 but had ordered eaten and left by 9:15 with a 9:30 closing time. And we asked when we walked in if it was too late to say in and we're told no. No pictures because we felt rushed with the heavy sighs and loud "I just wanna go home" comments from our server multiple times and "NO PROBLEM" so loud and often to our thank yous, that it obviously was. Unfortunate that this delicious food is overshadowed by very poor attitude and totally explains why people pick up and the rests I'd always empty. Will be looking for a new place for future Thai food fixes! read more

5/5 for food, service, and ambiance!!! The small details in this establishment truly do not go unnoticed. The owner, Bay, took his time to talk to us and was so, so nice. His wife's aunt, who they call "grandma" is the chef and makes authentic, delicious food. I really felt like he was talking to me like family. I loved how every single drink comes with straws that look like origami roses (even the water) and he said he makes them all by himself!! They're so cute. I love how he puts that time and effort into making the dining experience special for others. The food was incredible - we got the wonton pad Thai and chicken drunken noodles. Great portions and flavor. The Thai iced tea was served in a cute mason jar and was the best I've had. The crab rangoons to me were OK, but my friend liked them more than from other Thai restaurants. I loved their crispy tofu though! The restaurant is also very clean and cozy! I honestly felt like I was in their home being served food made with love. This place has the most amazing food. We recently moved into town and our first experience was an order to go of Pho. It was delicious and plentiful. The second time we decided to eat in and I am so glad we did! The food was amazing once again and the presentation was beautifully unexpected. The straws were inserted into the drink but instead of just having the paper sleeve hanging off the straw, a beautiful rose was made from the paper sleeve! Such a nice touch! The dishes were also presented beautifully and garnished with a carrot slice shaped like s butterfly. I had the Pad thai. It came with thin noodles which was different than expected since I've always received flat long noodles in the past but the taste and flavor were spot on! My fiance ordered clear noodle soup and the Sriracha fried rice. That was really spicy. I tasted it and just the few bites of it had me sniffling and sweating from the spiciness. We had the fried crispy egg rolls which were also served in a cute setting. The owner greeted us and chatted a bit. Very nice. read more

First time at this spot, we ordered takeout on a Saturday night. Ordering: Very easy, 20 to 25 minutes and our food was ready! Pick up: I walked in and I was immediately impressed by how clean and inviting the atmosphere was, I can't wait to go back and eat in when we get a chance. The staff was warm, friendly, and very personable. Food: excellent, excellent, excellent! I got Thai Basil and my wife got the red curry. Both dishes had a wonderful depth of flavor and the ingredients were fresh. The meat was tasty and the veggies were fresh and flavorful (not soggy and squishy like a lot of take out) We also got an order of Mango Sticky Rice for dessert that hit the spot! My family ate at 66 Church St which I will review next time we go there. I chose Chiangmai Thai restaurant so I could get to try something different. The website is easy to use and there are great options to choose from. I was torn between the Pho and the Pad Thai. The customer service was really nice snd the food was ready within the timeframe given. I got the sense of fresh ingredients when I walked in so this is not an Americanized Asian fast food place. The food was delicious, I had to push the plate away because I would have eaten the whole thing even with the generous portion. The depth of flavor was amazing and I had to slow down to enjoy it even more. I will work on getting my family to go with me one day so they do not miss out on the great food there! read more

I felt like the noodles were a little too sticky & I could have used a bit more sauce- but overall, it had good flavor, shrimp was pretty good. My husband chose the Thai Basil rice with chicken. He loved it! He said the spice was perfect- not too hot, not too mild. Veggies were juicy, chicken was perfect. We also ordered the crunchy egg rolls- also good & flavorful, although the dipping sauce it came with was SO mild, it seemed pointless to have. After a long day of driving from NWPA we settled in our downtown Waterbury hotel and looked for Asian food we can't get at home. Chiangmai was ranked highly and only a 7 minute ride down Highway 8. It's a cute place with plenty of seating; many people came for takeout also. We settled on the steamed dumplings, green chicken curry, and Thai basil beef. Everything was hot, perfectly seasoned, and delicious. We presumed our server was also the owner - he may be the friendliest and most attentive guy you'll ever meet.
