    Chicken pad Thai (bland)
    Kim V.

I love Thai food (I may be biased since I am half Thai lol). This Thai spot is near me and I drive by it all the time; I've been meaning to try it out. I love that it's in a historic house, parking was spacious and on the side of the house. I follow their social media and see their presence online; they seem nice and the food looked great. My family and I ordered takeout. I had the chicken pad Thai. I really wanted to like it but it was underwhelming and bland. The noodles were drier than other pad Thai noodles I've had and lacked any color; and I've had my fair share, it's one of my favorite meals. Also, the prices compared to other Thai restaurants nearby were higher. The Belgian chocolate mousse dessert was perfect though. I had a taste of my husband's green curry chicken and it was good, I liked it better than the pad Thai; however, there was very little chicken in it. I'll have to try out their other menu items and come back with an update.

I've driven by a million times and have wanted to stop here, but just hadn't gotten there yet. My son wanted to try something new and this is what he chose for his birthday. It's colorful and decorated authentically. We were greeted pleasantly and ordered some appetizers. They were all fresh, flavorful and yummy! My son and I quite enjoyed the lemongrass chicken the most. My son had the crispy duck for an entree, which he loved, took the rest home since we ordered so many apps. He loved it just as much the next day cold! I had the stir fry basil, it was spicy and well made, we both had sticky rice which was done perfectly! The prices are very good for the quality and serving sizes of food. The owner is super helpful and friendly. We look forward to our next visit. Definitely, will be a new favorite!

I received a gift card to The Green Papaya from some clients and I'm so grateful they introduced us to them! I really enjoy their Crispy Chicken Pad Thai, but I think my favorite thing to order is their Crab Rangoon. They're always crunchy on the outside, delicious and gooey on the inside with the delicious sweet chili sauce. I have a soy & MSG allergy and I'm so thankful to finally have a place that serves "safe" Crab Rangoon. Aside from the food that never disappoints, the service is always wonderful. The restaurant is usually packed with locals, so the wait can sometimes be long. But the staff are so warm and friendly that it makes it all worth it. Their restaurant is in an antique house, which makes it even more charming. We haven't made it in for dine-in service yet, but we have heard rave reviews about the experience.

    Geang hung lae.

So 10+ years after my first review, I went back again (first time inside in 2 years) and remembered yet again why this place rocks. Service was friendly and helpful. It's in an old house so you feel like you're at a friends house for dinner. The food remains adventuresome and still highly consistent. The curry puffs are an excellent example of some familiar yet fresh. The lettuce cups were a surprise given that I've ordered larb from here and I dare say we enjoyed the chicken lettuce cups even more. Pad Thai is a standard yet it is really done to perfection here and is far better dined in than take out. But the surprise was a northern Thai dish I haven't seen on the menu anywhere in CT. Geang hung lae is a stew with curry paste and powder, tamarind, potatoes onion and your choice of protein plus many other flavors. It's as unique a dish as I've had in a while. Loved it too. And good portion sizes too. Green papaya continues to shine. Done miss it.

We had the summer rolls for appetizer. My wife had the WonTon Pad Thai and I had the Red Curry Seafood dish with jasmine rice. Appetizer and meals were fantastic. For desert my wife had the fried ice cream and I had the coconut ice cream. Dessert was also very good. Some of the best fried ice cream we ever had. Prices are very reasonable.

Came here on a date with my partner.. it's a cute little place. You walk in and it gives you that homey type feel and vibe. Because of the ordinances in canton, the signage isn't quite noticeable.. parking is in the side/ rear of building. It's a cute married couple that run the place. The husband is the front of house/ host/ waiter and the wife is the cook. I ordered the Tiger Cry. Steak was cooked beautifully , so tender and flavorful, and with the dipping sauce it was sweet, savory, and a little spicy. I asked for the spicy pepper carousel and made it more spicy because I love it hot. I will definitely be back to try more of their dishes.

I've been wanting to try The Elephant Trail for at least four years now…read more So today, after running some errands in Simsbury and Canton, I pulled in for lunch. I was greeted warmly, and my neighbor and I were seated in a lovely booth by the window. Iced water was poured into the glasses that were sitting on the table, and lunch menus were placed in front of us No munchies or sauce were served while I was perusing the menu I placed my order for an order of chicken wings for the appetizer, and for $16.95, I ordered chicken and garlic sauce with white rice, along with hot and spicy soup and two small egg rolls My neighbor ordered a shrimp and Thai sauce lunch. Within five minutes, the chicken wings arrived 8 in total, which included 4 flats and 4 drumettes These chicken wings were seasoned perfectly, and then deep-fried to a golden brown. A beautiful spicy Thai sauce was served on the side. I could've made a meal out of these. These were some of the best chicken wings I've ever had in my 65 years here on earth. The Tom Young soup arrived, and it wasn't what I was expecting, boy was this thing sour and as soon as I hate it, I went whoa, the waitress saw that I didn't like it and offered to exchange it for Mayo soup which I gladly did. The miso soup was delicious seasoning so nicely with basil. So far, I am experiencing perfection. The dinners arrived, and buy garlic, chicken and vegetables with white rice was OK. It wasn't great, but don't get me wrong. It wasn't bad at all. I would've liked to see more garlic sauce, and maybe a little bit more spicy. Instead, it was rather bland. My neighbor loved the Thai shrimp and vegetable vegetables Restrooms were clean, and I loved the ambience, Thai casual. The total with the tip was just over $54. I am really on the fence if this is the best Thai in Connecticut or close to it. So far no. But I would gladly come here again because this would be a top five in the Avon Valley area. I love the experience, and our server gave us extraordinary service. This was a great experience. I just wish the main course was a little bit more seasoned. I will come here in the future and try a different dish

The inside is very "unique" its decorated somewhat like a bad dream mixed with animal pelts. The pho was disappointing. It wasnt rice noodles, it came with nothing on the sides like normal pho (no basil, hoison, bean sprouts, lime etc). When I asked for hoison sauce they brought out an industrial sized bottle that had dried sauce on the sides. I am not sure what to make of this. Nothing was bad, but it was just a weird experience.

This was my first visit, so I ordered cautiously ... only two apps that are typically my favorites in a Thai restaurant. 1) shrimp fresh roll (aka summer roll) 2) tom yum soup Both were good. The fresh roll was the best of the lot and the sauce was excellent. I wish the veggies were a little colder. But that's splitting hairs. The soup was good. Had more funk than spice. Portion was borderline small - but happy I tried it. I will absolutely be back to try more "real" food. I appreciated the service and felt very well taken care of. What keeps me from giving a better score were a few, housekeeping items: 1) while I was pleased to see each table gets a lovely carafe of water, that water is really difficult to drink. It has a metallic and "funky" taste to it. It kind of turned me off to wanting to eat more before I ordered as I was then questioning "is this water in everything?" 2) my shoes kept sticking to the floor. Not out of filth/dirt, but it felt like the soap or floor cleaner they used was somehow still there and sticky. None of this impacted the food. But it put me in a mindset where I didn't really want to order an abundance of food and try it all. To be clear: I will be back. I can't wait to try some other dishes.

One got the sense that the other diners that evening felt much the same way. It was a weeknight, and with a lower customer load than might be the case on a Friday or weekend, she had ample time to spend with each party, regaling us all with fun conversation. It goes without saying that the company in one's own party makes a whale of a difference, and in that regards I could not have asked for better. This is to take nothing away from the food, which was absolutely delicious, flavorful and mercifully not too spicy - our aging gastrointestinal systems are sadly just not up for the violent torment from a chilli assault like when we were younger, and felt invincible. The mango rice dessert - enough for two to split - was sublime. And the town of Naugy itself - for both of us an unknown quantity til that evening despite having whizzed past it a ton on Route 8, hammering down the famous Naugahyde River Valley - is intriguing. Naugatuck offers gorgeous and fascinating architecture from the last two centuries at least, evidence of thriving mill-driven industry in years past, very easy access from the highway, and lots of close on-street parking, at least on a Thursday evening. BYOB if you are that way inclined, as they don't have a liquor license. Will we be back to Chiangmai Thai? Abso-frikkin-lutely. I've you've already been, then go back again, and soon.
