You can tell the broth has been simmered for a long time because the flavor was so deep and comforting. I also tried the chicken bowl, which was really good too. I had the pork and shrimp spring rolls, as well as the rare steak pho. Rolls were good, fairly standard. Dipping sauce was decent, but sweeter than I prefer. Too much hoisin, not enough peanut flavor. Pho was good, broth had a nice flavor. Nothing to really blow me away, but good enough that I would have it again. I was bummed about the toppings plate though because it came with cilantro and lemons instead of basil and limes. Never seen that before. I really enjoy the flavor of the basil, so that was disappointing. People working there today were very nice, but it felt like they were understaffed and it was kind of chaotic trying to get a table for just myself and my young child. We stood among people waiting for pick up orders for a long time without being addressed. There was no clear queue, just several people waiting around the entrance. BEST PHO IN TOWN! I have tried all the pho in Bakersfield and even parts of Los Angeles and Orange County and I'd actually rate this place higher than LA Pho in my opinion. I ordered on Doordash too I didn't even dine in person. And I'm so impressed with the quality of the bone broth it's real, and the most flavorful broth out of all the pho restaurants in town examples (maui pho, soy&spice, pho vy, Saigon bento) just to name a few of the pho restaurants I've ate at. I like coming here for lunch because their portions are big! I usually order a plain pho with all the fixings off the kids Menu and that does it for me. The staff is attentive and the young man who seats, serves and takes payment is always so polite and goes above and beyond. This is a Bakersfield staple, for sure. The only issue I have is the Bathroom. It's a little run down compared to the rest of the restaurant. They have an air powered hand dryer as opposed to paper towels. This used to be my favorite pho place in town until I came in this last time on a runny day. They let us know the bean sprouts had run out which was a downer but understandable for the time. What really made it not so pleasant was the eggshells still being frozen in the middle. When we mention it to them one was already half eaten when we noticed. They just threw them in the microwave and handed them back exactly how they went. Ugh. I was more than willing to skip writing a review and look pass the bland soup broth, flavorless chili oil, dirty table, and funky smelling bathroom, BUT then we had this experience: Our server (receipt says Pauline) was friendly , we were greeted upon entry, which I always appreciate. The real plants and minimal decoration gave the restaurant a cute vibe. I ordered a large veggie pho it was only $1 more than the regular. My sister ordered the large rare steak pho. We also ordered the chicken wings...which were more like teeny tiny chicken bone with a nibble bite size of dry shriveled meat on them (they came 20 minutes after we ordered). We politely asked to return the chicken wings. The server came back to us saying we had to pay 50% of the wings because they were already cooked. We did not argue, simply stated our disappointment, explained why we were returning the wings, and continued eating our pho. The bill came, and yes, we were charged $6 for wings we did not touch nor take away with us. Never have I ever experienced returning a food item and being told to pay half - even if I had already eaten some of the item. My hope is that the supervisor realizes what a rude concept that is, deducts that $6 charge and gives it to our server as tip. Not her fault the cooks are serving uneatable food. THE FOOD: Chicken Wings with fish sauce - DON'T YOU DARE. Smallest chicken wings I've ever seen. A few had strange discoloring. Very dry over cooked and shriveled. Upon looking at it, I dare not touch it. Sent back to kitchen, was still charged 50%. Veggie Pho - liked that there was fried and soft tofu, plenty of veggies. Broth was bland af. If you want your food- don't buy from here. They refused to cancel an order via uber eats, and told me incorrect information. They tried to skip the penalties and stick me with them. Service was horrible and when I called, they simply put the phone down and never picked it back up. Then, it was impossible to get through and they don't have "voicemail set up". The food was delicious every time we've been here. Really enjoy the taste and variety. The dining room is very stripmall standard, but has nice decor touches such as a small shrine at the entrance. I decided to try this place out with a friend! We were not disappointed! They have many options besides pho, but we need up going with pho special 9 & 10. They have two options for sizing, and we went with the small and I was really full and I didn't feel like I was wasting food. There's a lot of space, and the servers are really nice. I got filet mignon pho taste water down missing flavor on the broth and chicken pho flavor was just right but the chicken was not good also got a kids chicken with rice and No flavor on the chicken at all atleast sprinkle some salt. Had lunch here for the first time with my son. For it being the first time, we liked it, but later that day, I had taken leftovers home, and after having a couple of drinks, the food was AMAZING LOL. The spring rolls are delicious with the sauce. The soup was chicken, and it was good the fried rice i recommend sticking with the chicken or beef. The shrimp was cooked nicely and had great flavor.
